Did a sleep study and they did not follow up with me. They did not properly bill me. They actually didn’t provide any feedback. A waste of time and effort. Go to a better practice.

My CPAP was part of a recall and the only way I discovered it was on a YouTube channel. There was no communication to me informing me to stop using the machine. This complete lack of follow-up is unacceptable and I will be finding another specialist.

Was personally at there door to give them my Doctors order and make an appointment. Door double locked and patients and visitors have to wait in the building lobby. Was roughly turned away and told to call them. Another patient with appointment was waiting outside and was told to remain waiting outside. Last they hear from me. Reficulous.

This is such a wonderful place. My Dad is waiting for a lung transplant and needed a new pulmonologist after moving in with me. Finding a new lung doctor during COVID was no easy task. However, I am so happy that my Dad ended up with Dr. Schaefer. He is awesome and so are all the office staff. They really listen to my Dads concerns and there is always a quick turn around for medications and other health concerns. In addition, Dr. Schaefer was able to connect us with a lung transplant team that accepts high risk patients and even came out to the car to make sure we had all the correct information. I highly recommend this team; they really go above and beyond. If you are concerned about COVID-19 safety guidelines, they do a phone screening before your appointment. A staff member also takes your temperature on arrival and they have multiple waiting rooms to keep everyone socially distanced.Thank you Howard County Lung and Sleep!

Good luck getting in touch with anyone you will be calling for weeks. No one listens to you about your sleep problems they just wanna give you A cpap machine and then dont tell you how to use it. Going to get a second opinion elsewhere.

The worst. Wont return phone calls. Claims to be submitting stuff to insurance and doesnt. Orders tests and then has no idea how to read them so they tell me to see a specialist. Useless. Useless. Useless.

For over two months now I have been calling to speak to the doctor or medical assistant to address why they havent submitted an order for new equipment supplies for me and I keep getting the run around. I havent been happy with their service for a long time and this was over the top. Its time to move on and get another doctor. PERIOD! If you are thinking about going there, just dont. They are slow in everythIng they do, as you can see.😖😤

I have not had a bad experience contacting the office. Dr. N was very patient and spent a lot of time with me to explain my condition and treatment options.

UPDATE 7/24/20 ... IF I COULD NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. Asked them to waive two for-pays due to the unethical and deceitful advertising and horrible experience and was charged anyway (had already paid multiple bills before that) with zero follow up or communication from the office. Dr. Nyanjom is a nice man but the practice itself if HORRIBLE!!! (I was really hoping to be able to post a positive update)We were referred here by my daughters primary doctor. Their website claims ”HCC Sleep Center is the only nationally accredited sleep medicine center in Howard County. Our center employees are full-time providers who are board certified in both Sleep Medicine and Behavioral Sleep Medicine. At our center you will receive care from a comprehensive treatment team dedicated to compassionate patient care.” We met with Dr Nyanjom in December and felt comfortable with him and scheduled a sleep study in their “state of the art facility equipped with patient controlled temperature regulation”.The sleep lab resembled a poor Motel 6, situated next to a busy, LOUD roadway, drafty windows and bright blinking lights from the equipment. The room was freezing with a space heater that barely raised the temperature in the room. When i asked if they could turn up the heat, i was told they keep it that cold so the glue doesn’t melt . Really ? I had gone to my other daughters sleep study in Philadelphia and her room temp was pleasant. No need to keep it ice cold. Not exactly an environment that is conducive to sleep.Met with Dr Nyanjom for a follow up who took his time explaining the results and indicated a second sleep study was needed. Went back for the second study, hoped maybe we would get one of the other 5 rooms but got the same horrible room as before and was barely able to sleep.Called to schedule a follow up and was encouraged to see the nurse practitioner. I explained that it was a follow up on the testing and preferred to see the doctor, but since my daughter was completely incapacitated due to her lack of sleep, agreed to take the earlier appt with the nurse practitioner. WORST mistake. Horrible bedside manner and said that the practice does not treat insomnia (excuse me?!?) then she asked my daughter why she thought she wasn’t sleeping. That’s your job as a sleep center to determine why and to come up with a treatment plan, not tell us that you don’t treat insomnia and we should start from scratch with another practice since she doesn’t have sleep apnea. We were sold on this practice because they claimed “thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment from a team of sleep medicine specialists. Our combined use of medication therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) utilizes a number of strategies that address personal, physiologic, cognitive, and behavioral factors that may be contributing to your sleep problem. As a result, your treatment will be individualized in order to target your unique factors and symptoms. “Total waste of time. When i discussed my frustration and disappointment with the office manager, we found out that the other doctors left the practice in 2017 although the website still describes them as a multi-faceted practice in 2020.I give their marketing dept an A+ in describing the type of center we were looking for. Unfortunately, none of what their website claims was true. Do yourself a favor and don’t believe the hype as we did. Maybe if you suspect classic sleep apnea, this practice may be ok if you stick with Dr Nyanjom. But if you are trying to treat years of undiagnosed chronic fatigue and insomnia, go elsewhere with a true state of the art sleep center and the ability to diagnose and treat multiple causes of sleep issues.

When I first started going to this office everything went well. In the last year it has gone down hill. Every time I call, no matter when I call , I cant get anyone on the phone. I leave a message and have to wait for a call back. Because I dont answer my phone when Im working this process does not work well for me. When I get off work they are already closed. I tried for months and could never get a person to answer the phone when I called. Now Im looking for a new facility that is more accessible.

Agree with all the other reviewers, they never ever answer the phone. It is especially annoying since their automated phone system can get stuck in a loop - you press a number and instead of asking you to leave a message it will start all over with their verbose message. I also agree that the work staff is very nice and friendly so I dont quite get why they have such pitiful customer service regards phone calls

Very unprofessional in terms of dealing with patients needing guidance or assistance. You will never be able to speak with a live person. You must wait for a call back. The time it takes to finalize everything and get your CPAP machine takes extremely long. And as a result you are forced to suffer with your breathing problems. I was also given incorrect information by a physician assistant involving my health, condition and what I needed. I was informed by another medical person outside this office, that the information the physician assistant had given me was incorrect. Fortunately I had caught the error and was given the right medical equipment. Find another sleep center.

The doctor is knowledgeable and is thorough, but there are issues with the office staff. I have called several times and it takes several hours or even days for a call back. I also scheduled an appointment and I was notified the system was down and the receptionist told me she wrote down my appointment time and will enter it when the system comes back up. I asked her if I needed to call back and remind her to put in the appointment and she assured me that it would be entered. When I showed up for my appointment, the office acted like I was crazy and they did not know anything about my appointment. I was told the doctor was busy I and had to reschedule, even though, I was in the office for my scheduled appointment! I was very frustrated and disappointed in their service!

My friend, D. has been going here for quite a while to deal with her COPD. I wished that i had known that this place was so bad. She caught pneumonia in December 2018 and was taken to the hospital. They released her, but she wasnt completely cured, so went back to the hospital just before Christmas. She was told her lungs were shot, her primary COPD doctor at this place never knew she was in the hospital, never knew that they had put her on heavy doses of drugs, including morphine, Fentanyl and AdavanWithout his consultation, doctors decided she was terminal and placed her in hospice. He has yet to visit and I doubt that he is doing anything to help her body heal. Shame on him. If you love your relatives, dont take them here or to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Columbia Md.

I had to cancel my first appointment as the doctor was running over an hour late. When I finally did see a doctor, it was less than 10 minutes. The prescriptions I was given were not called into the pharmacy until I called the next day - they had completely forgotten. When I picked up the antibiotic , the doctor had prescribed me a sulfur antibiotic - which I am highly allergic to. Had the CVS not realized the doctor’s error, I would have been heading to the ER with life threatening complications. Still, I returned for the follow up. I am typing this review in the office now - as the doctor is over an hour late - AGAIN. I never write reviews but this place is truly unprofessional, inconsiderate, and actually - dangerous. Find another practice.

Dr. appointment and sleep study went well. Follow up with nurse practitioner, not so well. Was told that if I can wait 10 years for addressing and solving sleep apnea issue, I can certainly wait another 2 weeks for a CPAP machine. Family and I need a patient advocate, not this.

Be prepared for the run around. I saw three different people at this center and it seems that none of them communicate with the other. I was called and asked to provide test results, when I called back to ask exactly what was needed, I was told that she was not available at that time and they would email her to give her the message? I never heard back from her. I went to my appointment and was greeted with we can not do anything for you at this time, until we receive the test results. I could of gone and gotten these result, if had I been called back. There are too many people in this office who do not communicate with each other , leaving me missing work and now having to do all the leg work to getting a new CPAP, still waiting on this office to fax back to the DME company signed paperwork so that the new machine can be ordered. One simple phone call could of avoided all of this. . IF you need this office for sleep help. I suggest you look elsewhere.

I am taking time out of my day to describe how disappointed I am with the center. After making multiple appointments between sleep studies, CPAP machine adjustments and follow-ups; I have determined that not only was a great deal of my time wasted in making appointments to see my actual doctor that then turned out to be with either a PA or other office assistant, I have also had an extreme amount of difficulty getting in touch with the office itself. Now, I understand that the office closes for a lunch period. However, even during the times I should not have trouble at least making contact with ONE office professional, I was consistently dumped into a voicemail which was also not followed up with a call from the office. This happened multiple times feeling like I had to hunt down someone to speak with. Very upsetting when trying to follow up on my test results or even making another appointment. Its been extremely difficult working with the center even ordering masks which took over two weeks to complete and it seemed as though there was responsibility that was not completed after I had to remind them about my order assuming they had it under control. Then multiple wasted trips back to office only to find I was not going to see who would reprogram my CPAP machine after my testing and results were completed also cost me multiple deductibles. It has been a virtual nitemare trying to get things completed properly and making sure they are on top of my file for my mask, testing, appointments, recalibration of my CPAP machine and the list goes on.... Needless to say, its been incredibly difficult working with them AND simply getting in touch was enormously difficult. I had to make a personal visit after leaving multiple unreturned messages asking for them to call me back. I was never impolite, never late but yet, I felt very much like I was doing so much work just to get something done by them. BEWARE of unessasary multiple visits and deductibles! Make sure your going to see your doctor before you bring your CPAP. I was disappointed multiple times as I expected to see my doctor and was not told I would see an MA or PA. Its very upsetting and time consuming. BEWARE or ordering anything through the office. My order was seemingly lost and nobody called me or reordered until I asked where the mask was that I paid for. It was coming from one state away and took two weeks of communication to finally get it to my home.MY ULTIMATE RECOMMENDATION: Visit another center altogether and steer-clear of this office and organization as I have seen multiple complaints suggesting I am it the only one with these experiences. I am looking for another center to transfer my records to so I can have a more attentive staff and actually see my doctor when Im told he will be there.PLEASE heed this advice. That is why I took the time to write. Thank you
