In short: way overpricedI was seen as a new patient there a couple years ago and had an unremarkable experience. Not terrible, but also not great. I was seen late, the waiting room was crowded, and the facilities seemed outdated. I had selected them because they had won a Best of Columbia award and remembered being surprised by it after my exam. But whatever, I wouldnt need to go back if I didnt want to. The reason Im writing a review now has to do with the cost of a routine eye exam for a return patient without insurance. When I went for my first appointment, I had insurance that covered the exam. My insurance has changed and no longer covers any optometry; I need new glasses and obviously have to have an updated prescription to do so. Some offices offer less expensive prices for patients who have already had a comprehensive exam with their doctors so I thought it would be worth it to return if I could save some money.When I called to get cost information about a routine eye exam, I found out it was over three times as expensive than other optometrists in the area. When I politely inquired about if there was any other services included, if there were any cheaper options for return customers or people without insurance coverage, and why there was such a large discrepancy in prices, she was a bit rude about it. All she said was they have a different kind of doctor here and that it was my choice to go elsewhere. So, I will be. I wanted to leave a review to alert people who would need to be paying out of pocket for optometry services that there are much more affordable options with people who have better customer service.

Dr. Liepins is beyond AMAZING! Its evident that shes very passionate about not only her job/work but her patients in general. Both my kiddos (ages 7 & 3) are at ease with her which speaks volumes for how well she does her job. Dr. Liepins is fabulous and everyone weve encountered in the office has been great. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Columbia Eye Consultants!

They were able to get me in very quickly as a new patient and when I needed to reschedule they were able to get me in the following day. Dr. Derose and his staff were AMAZING. Always friendly, even when I had my not so patient 1 year old with me !!

Amazing staff! They did a fantastic job with my four year old! Definitely great for kids!

This group takes care of my entire family and they are always well taken care. I have been a patient for over 15 years and highly recommend Columbia Eye Consultants!

Very poor customer service! Was told 3 different times that my insurance would not cover certain items. Was told today (Having to pay MORE money) that they only ran my insurance once. I asked them how did you find out for the other 2 trips that my insurance would not cover? I told that they were either lying then or now, which one.They tried to cover their tracks with insurance BS. I went ahead and paid because I need them to drive. They got me once but, they will never get me again. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION!

Wonderful Doctors and a great atmosphere. They are also always on time!

Columbia Eyewear is a fine supplier of eyeglasses, safety glasses, and eye tests/eye doctor services. In fact theyve opened a second branch on Chapel Hill Road. They are NOT closed, as indicated above!

So overpriced and charges are ridiculous. $526.00 for a pair of glasses is way out of sight. I will never go back.
