I dont even know where to begin. This place deserves ZERO stars. I just found out my sister died in their care at age 49. They would not let me see her. Today I called because it is her 50th Birthday. A nurse had to tell me over the phone after 20 minutes of getting transferred, that she died months ago. Im still trying to find out the date she past. No phone call. None. Not one. No letter. Nothing.

My mother was a resident at LifeCare when the COVID-19 first hit. I took care of my mother at home myself and even when she was admitted to LifeCare I took care of her needs there also. When I got the call that the family would no longer be allowed access I figured that went for everyone but no, they allowed certain family members in and stated they helped with the care of their loved one. Hello, is that not what I have done since she has been in LifeCare. The loneliness that mother endured here was awful. Administration here really needs to understand that you can’t show one family privileges to enter and not others. Again, I was very much involved in her care and was not allowed in at all.I myself worked in and retired from healthcare for 31 years.

A friend of mine just ended up quitting this job last night because a whole bunch of the residents have COVID-19, and they completely hid it from the employees. They told the CNA’s they were taking them outside to vote and instead, they took them outside to re-test the positive patients. The ones that tested positive for the virus have been in regular rooms and were treated as if they didn’t have the virus. No one told the employees and they put pretty much every single patient, guest, and employee in danger so if y’all work there now, GO GET TESTED.

I’ve been employed at Life Care since January, 2018. Not only are the staff kind, caring and loving, they all go above and beyond for the residents that call Life Care their home. There are daily activities for everyone to enjoy; Bingo, Snack Social, Auctions, Singings, Games, etc. The facility has a cafe, Preston Cafe it’s called, where they offer sweets & beverages to residents, families and visitors to enjoy. Along with the cafe, there is also a library / reading area with shelves stacked full of books and magazines and comfy chairs, making a comfy environment to read and enjoy private time either by yourself or with residents and family members.Life Care is a great place to call your workplace, and your home away from home. You’ll walk in and be greeted with warm smiles by everyone you pass. Come in and see for yourself!

What a wonderful place to work! This Christian based organization truly puts the needs of our residents first. I have experienced an abundance of kindness and support from my teammates as well as our family members. Lifecare Center of Columbia has truly been a blessing to myself and my family.

I had the unique experience of not only being an employee but a family member . For almost 2 years my sweet daddy who suffered from vascular dementia was a resident a Life Care Center of Columbia ! Fortunately for our family , he was able to be in a private suite on the long term care side. We paid privately for him to have a room by himself. For the most part , he did very well pushing his wheelchair around the facility most days looking for me. My position requires that I am out of the building all day so frequently because of his disease progression , he became frustrated , anxious and hard to redirect. Staff were loving , kind , patient and compassionate even on the days he was not very lovable. As with many families who have loved ones in our facility , staff become extended family members when we can’t be with our loved ones !We are not perfect by any means but our staff truly care about the residents and families we serve.

I came to work at Life Care in October of 2017. I came from another SNF that I was at for 23 years! I believe God had a plan for me. I wasnt looking to change jobs... but, a door opened and I walked through. I am happier here than I have been in a very long time! I absolutely love my job and thankful to be here. - Jennifer Green

My experience here was very short but I was very impressed. My mother was transferred in from hospice care, and passed away less than two weeks later. However, during that time, all of the staff was amazingly attentive to her comfort, repositioning her regularly, bathing, etc. No one ever had a problem with me spending the night in the room with her, and every member of the staff I interacted with took the time to talk to me and to make sure I was doing okay emotionally and physically. From what I observed, every patient on our hall was receiving equal attention, and the therapists, etc were all excellent. Based on my experience, I would definitely be comfortable using LifeCare for long-term care.

New administration plus a caring nursing team would be a plus. The facility is the nicest in Columbia. But I doubt anyone is concerned with the beautification of the property when it comes to their loved one. We all seem to forget- we reap what we sow.

My father was admitted for stroke rehabilitation. The rehab. staff are great but the nursing has been subpar. He is not checked on at night. He is not aware of his needs and unable to use the call light. His family has been staying with him around the clock to ensure he does not fall and he and his sheets are changed when needed. When we do push the call light we have to wait for up to 45 mins. before there is a response. We have changed him, bathed him and changed his linens on several occasions before they respond to a call. They have even come in and turned the call light off before seeing what we need. We have repeatedly expressed our concerns about his risk of falling and his need to be checked on with no changes to care. We have been told several times they are short staffed and have had staff complain to us about working overtime. We are currently looking at transferring him to another facility.
