I have been a patient of psychiatry, talk therapy, and TMS treatment at this practice, and I really can’t put into words how wonderful the staff are. I have felt so supported and cared for by everyone there and I am very glad I completed my TMS treatments with Innovative Psychiatry. I am still in shock at the astounding results I have experienced with TMS treatment. If you are like me and have been unable to find a medication regimen that works for your mental health, please call Innovative Psychiatry to talk about TMS. I will always highly recommend this practice.

I cant recommend this practice highly enough. The care that Ive received here has truly changed my life.My five star review is indicative of how I feel about: 1) The competency and ethical integrity of the practitioners; 2) The efficacy of the novel treatments they provide; and 3) the holistic level of care offered by the entire staff - something I have never found anywhere else.I’ve been seeing Dr. Mattai for medication management and psychiatric care for several years, and have been seeing Lindsay Waxler for psychotherapy during that time. I cant speak highly enough of Dr. Mattais approach to medication management. I have a long history of struggling with mental illness and Dr. Mattais measured and honest approach to prescribing is something that is very hard to find. Dr. Mattai listens to me, displays compassion and empathy, but most importantly, has the integrity to point out the times when I am looking for a certain miracle from medication to cover up an issue which I really need to address in talk therapy. This is not a practice where you will become an overmedicated zombie. He works closely with my therapist and together (along with the entire office staff), I feel that they provide an integrated and holistic approach to treatment which is critical, but very rare. My therapy work with Lindsay has been practical, comfortable, challenging, and effective. I came to this practice after 15 years of struggling with my depression and anxiety, seeing more practitioners than I can count with both hands, and having gotten to the point where I was completely resigned to living this way for the rest of my life. Through my work with Lindsay Ive come to understand that my anxiety was not just a by-product of my depression. I can now realize the massive role that anxiety has played in my life and how crippling it was. It was only once I realized this and began practical work with Lindsay to address these issues that my understanding of my mental illnesses really started to shift. This is a big thing, and that is what I mean when I say that therapy with her was challenging. It caused a fundamental shift in the way I perceive the issues Ive struggled with for a decade and a half. Its something I was not able to achieve in the past even through years exploring CBT, DBT, and psychoanalytic therapy. I couldnt be more grateful to the improvements that Dr. Mattai and Lindsay Waxler have brought into my life.Id also like to provide some details around what I mean by novel treatments. For the past two months, I have been receiving TMS (Trans-cranial Magnetic Stimulation) at the office. I have found it to be profoundly effective, almost a miracle. Due to many things over the past year (COVID, performing a high-pressure job remotely, politics, division and upheaval), I ended up in a very bad place last November. I was not even able to function at work, which is one of the most important things to me. Dr. Mattai guided me through the process of applying for Short-term Disability leave from work so I could prioritize treatment, which turned out to be very simple. I went full-force with Lindsay to re-develop practical mindfulness skills to combat my crippling anxiety. Dr. Mattai and I made a small medication tweak, but it was not until 3-4 weeks into TMS that I could feel the deep-rooted depression, apathy, and hopelessness abate. TMS is a time commitment, but like everything else when it comes to mental health treatment and recovery, you get out what you put into it. TMS was a real game-changer for me. In addition to the efficacy of the treatment, it is fully covered by my medical insurance with no prior authorization required which made the logistics much, much easier. If you are willing to put the work into addressing your mental health I highly encourage you to consider Innovative Psychiatry.*I ran out of space here but have attached an image to provide a little more of my story as context for this review.

I was fired by this practice because I reported having a hard time with my iatrogenic injury from benzos. He referred me to another doctor but at that point my health was so poor that I honestly could not start over with a new doctor given how much time & effort it takes to get through an initial evaluation. I had to cold turkey off 1.5mg of klonopin. It’s a miracle I survived. I tried to make an appointment with his office since I was running out and they refused to see me. 1.5 mg of Klonopin is a high dose and I wasn’t even provided with any type of bridge plan to taper. I was thrown out like garbage. That’s medical negligence. That was over a year ago and I’m still suffering. Don’t go here if you want someone that actually cares.

I sought out counseling from Lindsay Waxler. I was looking for someone well versed in cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness. I had previously seen another therapist who did only “talk therapy” and I wanted more concrete strategies to help with my problems. Lindsay is the best therapist I have ever seen. She was kind and sympathetic but also helped me to see my situation in a more realistic light. She showed me where I was “standing in my own way” and gave me techniques that helped me through some very difficult times. I would highly recommend her.

When I began my visits with Dr. Mattai at Innovative Psychiatry several years ago, I was pleasantly surprised with his professionalism and ability to provide superior services in a timely fashion. Three years later I still receive immediate responses to my calls and emails and have never once felt my time or money has been compromised. He truly cares about the people who he sees, an attribute which otherwise seems fleeting in todays medical world.I highly recommend Dr. M to my peers. It has truly been a rewarding experience.

I wish i could give this place zero stars. First the woman i had laughed in my face about my music career whoch was just kicking off. This was after i told her i had self esteem issues,Then after i paid 285$ cash for intake and 100$ secons visit that theu wanted me to take an additional urine test at my expense (mind you i have no insurance) so i declined. I was able to show my urine screen from october 29 showing passing results. Then they demanding to scan my medical marijuana card and said its mandatory.i said no. I told them that i didnt have the extra money for the urine screens all the time and the scan of the card wasnt necessary. And they said well there are places for people without money that have a sliding scale they can refer me to. And that they are not one of those places. At this point the director sat in on my session and is now harassing me about these things. Meanwhile i have no idea whats wrong with me and i though these people were the answer. I was TOTALLY wrong. All they care about is money. DO NOT TRUST YOUR CHILDRENS BRAIN WITH THIS PLACE. They need their licenses pulled. Disgusting treatment.

I have been with Dr. Mattai since he opened his practice and I couldnt think about ever going somewhere else. Dr. Mattai and the team that he has put together are the among the best providers of any service in any industry Ive ever had the pleasure of dealing with.Sonia and Lindsay are fantastic, extremely competent, compassionate, and empathetic. They have both helped me immensely in my journey. Christina and Emma at the front desk are always so cheerful and personable, its almost like visiting family (that you actually like).

He called my medications into the pharmacy (or transmitted them electronically) incorrectly following 50-75% of all my total office visits. When I called to ask for the missed prescriptions I had to often wait and was told I was being uncooperative in requesting for my medicine when it was already “submitted”.... it got ridiculous and I’m now looking elsewhere. Good luck

The folks at Innovative Psychiatry are absolutely awesome! Dr. Mattai is the most compassionate Dr. I have ever had. Sonia is an amazing therapist and Im sure everyone who provides service under Dr. Mattai is of the highest caliber.Lindsays accupuncture has helped both physically and mentally in conjunction with Dr. Mattais medical management and Sonias caring and understanding mannerisms in therapy. They take a whole person approach to care, which is fantastic. Even the folks at the front desk are top notch, thanks Christina and Emma!

I started seeing Dr. Mattai a few years ago. His entire staff is very attentive, professional and seems to be genuinely interested in seeing his patients succeed. I recently completed TMS therapy recommended by Dr. Mattai and offered by the practice. I can honestly say it was life changing. Since completing the therapy I have asked for lower doses of medications (some with addiction risk). The therapy worked so well that I don’t feel like higher doses of medications are necessary. After almost 2 years of mood instability, depression, anxiety and fatigue...I finally feel productive at work and less withdrawn/isolated from family/friends. The therapy was covered by my insurance (Carefirst). The coinsurance I am responsible for was reasonable and will be offset by the money I will save in monthly prescriptions. Thank you Dr. Mattai, Christina, Sophia and Nina for all you do!
