I think something might have happened at this facility. I have been a patient of this clinics since 2018. It was great at first. But all of sudden, everything changed. Calls are never picked up, messages on their apps never works, booking appointment on their apps never get a response. It more feels like a business now, rather than a place where provides helps to the people in needs. It sucks.

The people answering the phone are extremely impatient/rude. Calling for an appt already takes a month- two AT THE MINIMUM to schedule. I have a minor cold due to the weather changing AND have gotten a rapid test to prove it is not covid. Yet they still are making me cancel my physical to reschedule a little over a month later. Tried explaining situation and lady kept cutting me off saying “are we canceling or rescheduling” over and over till she hung up on me. Been coming here for almost 20 years to see Lawrence Swink. Never returning to this office, the level of help/service provided by the front desk has gone down hill quick over the last few years.Recommend another office for much faster apps and nicer individuals.

Happy with the medical care I have received at this practice. The front desk leaves something to be desired. I arrived 15 min early for my latest appointment, like a good patient, only to find out 45 min later the front desk never actually checked me in. A nurse called my cell to ask if I missed my appointment and I told her I had been sitting in the waiting area the entire time. The front desk admitted their error and offered a very insincere apology and did not seem at all concerned with wasting my time.

I’ve seen 3 different doctors during my time as a patient. I switched from the first after she repeatedly didn’t listen to me as the patient. I then saw Dr. So for 5 years & he was excellent! He listened to my concerns, never dismissed them & worked with me to make treatment plans that were tailored to me. After his recent departure, I saw my 3rd doctor who was just like the 1st. She didn’t listen to my concerns. She wanted me to stay on a medication longer than deemed necessary by both Dr. So & my therapist. She never asked details about why I was on it. Once I explained & told her I would be tapering it, she mumbled through a process for me to follow. This was the last straw & I’ll be switching practices. There are way too many other doctors to stay with ones who don’t listen to their patients.

I went to get my physical done here at Internal Medicine department with Dr. Reha Pokharel. During the visit I mentioned I had some back pain and a migraine problem and she took down notes. When I received my bill I saw she charged me for a physical + an additional office visit. I called to ask why and I find out because I was apparently treated for a migraine and back ache. I was never treated for either of these things nor did she give me any advice on these issues. When I called and asked to dispute it I was told doctors don’t take things off from charts to avoid looking suspicious or being accused of fraud. At this visit I also had some bloodwork done. My results came back and I was able to view them online. I got a phone call telling me to make another appointment so the Dr can discuss my results with me, so I do. At this visit Dr. Pokharel just read all the results that I had already read online, not really providing additional insight or advice and she let me know I was fine and good to go. A few weeks later I get another bill for this office visit, even though I didn’t get any medical advice and frankly was a waste of time for me to leave work early just to have someone read the same results back to me. It feels like these people here just want to find any and every excuse to charge you even if no real service was provided. Aside from the financials, Dr. Pokharel wasn’t really kind or gentle. I mentioned to her I was getting married soon and requested a pregnancy test. Her immediate question was, “Is it from the same man?” Very off putting especially because I wanted to feel safe and be able to trust my Dr but she made me feel the exact opposite. I will definitely be finding a new doctor/practice and will not be returning to this place.

I went to get my physical done here at Internal Medicine department with DR. REHA POKHAREL. During the visit she seemed not to really care about anything but getting me out of the office and didnt care to answer many of my questions. I realize as her patient I felt more like a number than a human being. She also treated my wife horribly. Making her go into the office again to read things from her blood work that she did not need and that a simple phone call would have been fine like I was given(She needed more Vitamin D like everybody else in America). So at the appiointment my wife had other questioms that the doctor did not feel like she cared to answer. So all in all she billed her for a uselss appointment. Once my wife realized the doctor scammed her to bill her twice she asked for her money back but they refused. Shes a poor doctor and it says a lot about the practice that shes allowed to get away with things like this and if you decide to go to this practice out of convenience ask for anyone else! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Dr. Chestnut is great, Dr. Bellor is great and Dr. Noskow is great. Ive only seen one other doctor and its no surprise that I cant remember his name. It was a pointless visit both times that I had to see him and I basically treated myself both times. The office staff for internal medicine is horrible. They are always short staffed and the receptionists are rude.

Use to be a patient of Dr. Freedman and always had great medical care under his watch. Since his passing I moved on to Dr. So within the same practice who is very professional and I feel very good with my medical care. Since the COVID era things have changed but overall I am very satisfied with their service. I think its very unfair to leave negative reviews due to billings issues. Reading some of these posts most seem to have nothing to do with the actual care which should be the #1 priority. A+ rating for Columbia Medical Practice!

The Physicians are good, but as of recent I run into so many issues when it comes to getting my prescription refilled. Dr. Saway is a great Doctor but the front desk staff and phone personnel are completely incompetent. My prescription refill requests are messed up every single month and it takes me 5-10 calls each and every month to get my prescriptions refilled correctly. I honestly don’t think they could have a worse system for refilling prescriptions. The prescription refill timeline as a policy is 72 hours. 72 hours!? Are you kidding me? The Columbia Medical Practice has forgotten what customer service is and I would highly recommend NOT using them for any medical needs.

Ive been a patient here since 2004. I was medically retired from the military so I can say this practice is WAY better than any military treatment facility. Lately it has been going downhill. I recently had a physical done which my insurance covers 100%. I was surprised to get a bill for that visit so I called their billing department to clear this error. After explaining it to them they said they would get back to me. 4 months later they finally did! They tried to tell me that the doctor put in the paperwork that I had a physical AND an office visit. That was NOT the truth at all. They tried to tell me that because I got referrals as a result of the physical that equated to a office visit. That simply isnt true. Basically they were trying to bill my insurance company twice for one appointment. I told them I would call my insurance company and clear this up with them. After another month the billing company called me to say that they reviewed my bill and did me a favor and wouldnt charge me for the office visit but just this one time. I dont go to the doctor to get favors and I am extremely insulted by them insinuating that I was just trying to get something for nothing. They wont have to worry about the next time because there simply wont be one.

The physicians at CMP - Pediatrics are all great and Ive never had a bad experience with my two kids, but the front desk and medical assistance staff arent very competent or polite. I went in for a well visit and was told that one of the vaccines wasnt available. It would have been nice if someone would have called me ahead of time to reschedule the appt especially during this pandemic, I am trying to limit any medical visit. I was told to receive a phone call once the vaccine was back in stock, but I would have still waited for the call if I wouldnt have checked in and called the office myself. This is super inconvenient during these times and the front desk staff doesnt even seem to care at all nor do they have the information on hand when trying to schedule this appt as all necessary information should be accessible through the patients file. The front desk staff/medical assistants have always been that way and I considered switching to a different office, but reconsidered as I really like all the doctors.

I am very disappointed over a travel consultation that I was charged $65 for a few minutes of a doctor educating me about a couple of vaccines. Absolutely dreadful. I called up to see if they had they yellow fever vaccine, the first person I spoke to told me they did but she refused outright to give me a price even though I was very clear on what I needed (she said that everyone is charged differently - how is that transparent or fair? I think they should be reported). As the only other place that has the vaccine is in DC, I drove to the practice there and then and spoke to a different person face to face. Not happy to drive there at all - but what could I do? We need the vaccine. They still couldnt give me a price - I got a ballpark figure - and I made the appointments. Today is the day of the appointment so I just thought Id call to confirm it and the girl I spoke to said they dont have the vaccine and havent had it for a year and a half.Dont use this practice, go elsewhere. Theres plenty of other providers.Edit: the response from the medical practice, below, states that I did not make the appointment, which implies that my review is fictitious. I think this really does say it all. This place will eventually be reported.

CMP left a message for me regarding a prescription refill request on Monday. When I called back later the same day, the office was closed but I left a message with the after hours answering service. Assuming the message had been picked up and the prescription processed, my husband tried to pick up the prescription on Tuesday morning, but it was still not filled. I called CMP on Wednesday morning. It took two calls, being on hold for over 15 minutes the first time despite next in line in the queue, and the second time over 12 minutes despite being second in the queue to speak to a live person. When I explained the situation about the answering service, she said the after hours service is “hit or miss.” What good is subscribing to a service if it’s not reliable? The office secretary said she’d send the prescription to my pharmacy. This conversation took place around 1:30 p.m. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription just before 7:00 p.m, the pharmacy technician informed me that it was still waiting for the doctor’s office to authorize the prescription. My child needs this medication, I can’t make an over the counter substitution. As a parent, I need a dependable medical practice. I quit this practice once about 10 years ago when the front office made me feel unwelcome. I came back because the doctors are excellent. (Dr. Cole and Dr. Strahlman in particular.) However, I need much stronger communication and patient care or I will leave again. My child is suffering without her medication, I can’t help, and that makes me feel like CMP doesn’t care about its patients.

The front desk nurses always have a friendly smile on and are eager to help with any billing questions. They are quick to set up appointments and to answer the phones. I really believe that establishing a great connection with my Primary care doctors has led to a happy and healthier life. Dr. Chestnut has always been willing to listen to my concerns and addresses them with appropriate expedience. Because of her willingness to listen and trust in me as a patient, we were able to identify problems quickly. Until today, no one returns my call. I will never go to this terrible facility again.(I am answering the Columbia Medical Practices owner comments here.)I am complaining about your supporting staff . I did get voice message from your office on the next day (5/30/19) saying that my lab results are fine except vitamin D which is on the board level. But, I made multiple phone calls for a simple request, a copy of my lab results. I was told a link will be sent to me shortly. Even today , I haven’t got any link from your IT department. I called again. my call was transferred to the medical record office. No one was there again. I left voice message for my request. Again, even till right now, no one return my call for my request. My wife and I have mixed feelings about CMP pediatrics. We have a 4yo son and 2yo daughter. We really like the demeanor of the bulk of the docs and nurses. Even the front office staff have improved recently. Its not too difficult to get an appointment either. What has soured our opinion lately is that one of the docs isnt following through per her own follow-up guidance. On two separate occasions during sick visits, we were told to call back if things get worse and we will try X. Both times, when we called back after a few days, the doc backtracked and conveniently forgot that we had agreed to a specific treatment plan. We were then told we had to bring my daughter back in for reevaluation. When you have a sick kid, this becomes maddening! Stick to your word. Take good chart notes and read them before you talk to your patients. And definitely dont promise something you arent willing or able to deliver no matter how big or small.

My 1 star isnt given to the whole practice as a whole, just to the gynecologist, Ann Thompson. Absolutely the WORST experience Ive ever had with a gyno.I suffer from severe mental illness and engage in self harm. She immediately asked about it, gave me some insensitive advice, and continued to harshly judge me. She was inconsiderate, and did not take into account my medical history. She asked question after question after question only to give snarky looks and responses instead of any type of genuine concern. On top of that, she assumed that I would have some kind of STD! Racial profiling at its finest. My reason for creating the appt was so that I could get some insight on the severe menstrual cramps that landed me in the ER a few weeks back and all she chose to do was shove a form of birth control down my throat. She is not genuine, she is inconsiderate, doesnt care, and even if I chose a form of IUD I would NEVER let her near my body ever again.**Edit After Owner Responded**Also, after my review, I dont appreciate your tone in your response. It invalidates my opinion as well as my experience with one of your providers, as a patient.Your apology is condescending and passive aggressive. Instead of validating my review, understanding where Im coming from, and taking my experience into consideration, youve chosen to gaslight it ,to where I feel that I am at fault for my emotions and my review. Making your patients that have given 1 or 2 stars feel that they are wrong in the rating given will only continue to cause negative criticism about your practice.Instead, being sincerely apologetic, addressing the concerns, thanking the patient for bringing their experience to your attention and choosing to provide better service might actually bring those patients back to give it another try or ease their frustration.Based on your response, I doubly will not be returning. Having retail experience, I know that means little to businesses when customers say that.

Heres the problem at this practice - you cant call these people because no one answers the phone. I am a current patient and have now been on hold for 27 minutes just trying to reschedule my appointment - this happens all the time and it has been going on for too long. My friend is also a patient and had an extremely urgent issue last week and could not get through by phone for two days. I really like my doctor - Dr. Chestnut. Ive only seen her twice but she seems very good and has been a good dr to my friend as well. But this phone issue has been an ongoing problem and is the worst I have ever encountered at any medical office or business. So, if I dont cancel my appt Ill be charged - and I need to reschedule for a different time anyway - but it should not take a half hour or more phone call for a simple transaction like this. I mean the appointment you get with a dr is only 15-20 minutes - yet you have to wait a half hour just to get through to schedule it. The people there are actually very nice - but this is inexplicable. They say they cant get people hired but I dont get it. I do recruiting for a living as a contractor - and there are people out there if you pay decently and offer a reasonable work environment. I dont want to leave this dr but this has become unmanageable.

She is a woman in her 60s, divorced with no partner . But everyone should be asked!I love how understanding and unintimidating she is. I also saw nutritionist Mary Perry for about 6 months. She is a great person to work with if you need her services.

Worst staff in the world. Really rude and condescending and completely unfamiliar with the new healthcare laws. Figured they might just be having a bad day, second appointment proved that wrong. Doctors were good, but not willing to deal with there staff.

My daughter was having issues from a stomach bug which is why we were there. Unfortunately she made a mess in a couple of places in the pediatrics department due to her sickness. Every one of the staff members of pediatrics from the front desk staff, nurses and doctors were all very understanding about it. This allowed my daughter to just be a sick, 6 year old instead of feeling shamed for the mess. Im so appreciative of everyones kindness towards us as my daughters sickness wasnt slowing down. They told me not to worry about it as I kept apologizing and the staff gave me a bag to put my daughters wet clothes in then called for housekeeping. The kindness shown to me and my children will forever be appreciated and this just shows why I love the pediatrics department of Columbia Medical Practice over other pediatric offices we previously been to. Thanks!

This practice is one of the worst dr offices Ive been to. I will be taking my family of 3 elsewhere. You go to your regularly scheduled appt 20 mins early, you wait and wait then get asked to go inside 20 mins past your appt. You keep waiting and waiting (Dr kramer) who spends less than 5 mins and off you go. A total nightmare if you have to talk to Billing (Debra Jenkins). She will not call you back, I left VMs 5 days in a row and she hasnt called back. This practice charges you incorrectly and adds line items to scam you. Scam practice! Run far far away. I will be changing my Dr this yr after bearing through this for 2 yrs. The staff are all bored and have attitude issues. While waiting, you hear the conversations and its not positive discusion!

NEGLIGENT!!! I went on 4/2 for vaccinations in preparation for my trip to Ethiopia. I knew more in my appointment than my doctor (Dr. Sheikh), as she was insisting I needed the Yellow Fever (despite saying they dont even have it there) shot before entering Ethiopia. I informed her that there were new(-ish) guidelines and that if traveling from US (or anywhere without cases of Yellow Fever), it was not required. I also knew that I didnt need anti-malaria medication she insisted I take starting before my travel, as Addis Ababa was a higher elevation and Malaria was not an issue there. Why should I inform a travel doctor of these things when she is given all the information needed to assess what I should have prior to my arrival? After we decided which vaccinations I would get, the MA came in, rattled off a few vaccinations/shots that were not even close to being mine. When I said, I dont think you have the right room, she replied, Oh, youre right. Sorry, I was thinking of the other room. I asked if she was sure she had the right ones and asked her to check. She promised me she had the right ones, without actually checking. Next, she proceeded to drop one of the syringes on the floor. She picked it up, the lid was still on, she showed me and said it was okay. Reluctantly, I got stuck 4 times w/4 different needles. I left and was told to call when I returned from my trip to schedule the next in my series of Hep shots. I did and was given a 7/18 appt @ 10am. I checked in online, was taken back and asked if I was here for my Hep A shot in the series. I said I was here for a shot in the series, but thought it was for Hep B. She left the room, came back to ask if I got the Hep B at their practice. I said I did, I got 4 shots: Hep A, Hep B, Meningitis, and Typhoid. She left again, came back with my electronic chart, which showed I didnt receive the Hep B shot. I explained that if I didnt get the Hep B, then I dont know what I got because I was stuck 4 times with 4 different needles. They swore up and down I didnt, however I doubt the MA from the first appt even had the right room for my shots. This current MA also said that if I were getting the next Hep A, it wouldnt be for 6 months. So why was I asked to call and schedule and why did the scheduler make me an appt only 3 months out? I asked to speak to the doctor and was denied, even though I had a 10am appt with her and it was about 10:15am. They had to hunt down the office manager for me to speak to who apologized, took notes and assured me the doctor would call me. Its been almost a week and I havent received a phone call. Now I dont know what I was vaccinated with since they only show 3 shots and I received 4, their scheduling is inept seeing as how I was scheduled for 3 months earlier than needed, their promise of communication and follow up was meaningless, and clearly they dont care about the well being of their patients. I will never return here, nor will I recommend this negligent place.

My doctor, is top shelf and shares knowledge openly, his name is Dr. L. Swink. But the staff could care less, i had been going there since 1987, they closed and reopened and i started back, in the beginning things were smooth, but within the last few years my chronic disease stopped meaning anything and i was viewed by 2 of the staff members, Nurse Monica and patient appointment manager Sharee as if i was getting free service. And went as far as setting up a hostile engagement, during a time when i was blind from extensive eye surgery. To make matters even worse i cant get an appointment to see my primary doctor unless Sharee aithorizes it, these 2 staff members conspired to set me up with a hostile intake appointment with a Dr. Mkendawire, of course i took appropiate measures, but no patient should EVER be yelled at, especially when they pay dearly for services. They wont be open much longer if they dont start to understand, the patient comes first. I am not saying the patient is always right, i am saying when a person is physically ill, they do not have the time to wait all day, nor are patients responsible for clerical errors and non call backs.

I came to Columbia Medical Practice to get my immigration physical completed. I shouldve taken it as a bad sign when the front desk lost my health records. However, having paid $350 for the paperwork, I patiently resubmitted my health records and waited two months before calling them to check if my paperwork was ready. Apparently, it was, but I was the one responsible to check up. I went to the office to sign my form. I got my sealed envelope and a copy that I realized had my contact information incorrect. When I went back, they said an incorrect contact information is a minor, minor thing that the USCIS will never pay attention to. I still waited to get my paperwork corrected just to get an incorrect version AGAIN. Dr. Saway may be a good doctor, but the manner he regards a $350 document is very unprofessional. Not to say the staff that lost my health records when I physically went to the office to drop them off. I would never recommend you to go to Columbia Medical Practice for the immigration physical paperwork.9/1/2018: This is a response to Columbia Medical Practices response. Yes, Dr. Saway had me review the top half part of the front page. On tohe top section my zip code was incorrect. So I told him and he manually fixed it. (My zip code in the system WAS correct. It was just that form that was incorrect so Im assuming the information was typed in manually.) He didnt let me review any of the bottom parts of the front page which is where all the rest of the incorrect information was located. So, when I went back to get that part fixed, the zip code that I initially mentioned was incorrect AGAIN. I never got to review it with Dr. Saway, I was only asked to wait for the sealed envelope. It was only when I got a second copy when I noticed the error. The reason why I would not recommend this place is the attitude. Including the head nurse, when I went back to get the form fixed, Dr. Saway apparently relayed the message, this is not an issue worth coming back to get fixed and no one has actually come back to get such a MINOR thing corrected. I would expect a professional dedicated to immigration paperwork would strive for accuracy and perfection.

I can never get a sick appointment in this place! I get my physicals here for the last 7 years, but if I have an emergency forget about it ! Im always asked to go to PF. I called 5 min ago as i have fever, chills and my head is going to explode (i believe i have a mastitis) firstly the receptionist didnt even know what that was and then told me they didnt have availability until Thursday. So, no sick appt in this place.... what a shame!

Horrible place. New patient and ended up waiting over 20 mins after my appointment started until I asked to see what was taking so long (I arrived 30 mins early). Then the nurses treated me bad because I complained that no one notified me the doctor was running late. The nurse taking my weight said it so loud for all to hear, way to be discrete! Finally in the room and now it’s been almost 1 hour, still no doctor! I can hear the office staff gossiping from the exam room. This place sets up your appointment fast and is responsive but is horrible when you get in the door.

Went in when I was 15 for severe back pain, they did a scoliosis test and said nothing was wrong and did not do x-rays to rule out anything else. I got X-rays done at my primary care doctor once I was of age, and was diagnosed with Spondilolisthesis. So, get a second opinion for your kids so their conditions dont get worse before they are old enough to get it themselves.

Ive been going to these guys for almost 10 years. I see Dr Leichtling and I like him a lot. Hes very receptive, listens to me, and makes good recommendations. I bounced around to several different practices before settling on this one. However, I gave them 3 stars for two reasons:I have never been seen within an hour of my actual appointment time. Ive gone first thing in the morning, after lunch, and in the evening, same thing every time. I always show up 15 minutes early and I still end up sitting till way over an hour past my actual appointment time before finally being seen. I understand this can because other people show up late, but this happens even when Im the first appointment of the day.Its hard to get a same day, next day, same week, or even next week appointment with Dr Leichtling. If it is an urgent matter, I have to take the newest Dr or PA.I do think they are getting better. I agree with the other reviews and there was a time it was just awful (I tried not to get sick during those times). Staff were rude and wait times were ridiculous. But I think theyre getting much better. The front staff are very friendly and courteous. And I think the introduction of the check-in tablets is their way of trying to cut down the wait times.

Awful doctors. Ive seen different doctors in that practice. Every time I came in they acted like I was a young mom and paranoid and nothing was wrong with my child. Well months later of my nagging and frequent doctor visits they finally said ok yes you were right something was wrong. Then they diagnosed my daughter with a milk protein allergy at a month old and shes been on alimentum formula ever since. Well now they are claiming she never had a milk protein allergy she had a milk intolerance and they never advised me to give her alimentum? Im on wic and in order for my daughter to receive alimentum through wic the doctor would have had to authorize that through a note signed by her doctor. Sooo if they never diagnosed her with that how have I been receiving Alimentumthrough wic? The doctors are not cooperative and never make you feel satisfied or ok leaving the office and they do not take concerned parents seriously. I will say dr. Joann Flagg was amazing and was very attentive to me and my daughter. I cant say the same for the other doctors I have seen.

There needs to be a option for negative stars. I have waited now 8 hours for a call back from a doctor, begged to speak to anyone about a dire situation. I called at 8 am, 135 pm an again at 330 pm. I was told by the answering service they just take messages and I have to wait. Calling and bothering them will not help. I asked them to call the front desk and let me speak to someone there. They said no. I said can you tell them I will be there in 10 minutes then. This is desperate . They told me Do not show up there without a appointment no one will help you and you will be told to leaveGreat JOB. I have a raging infection growing by the minute that the meds arent helping, no help from the ER and 8 hours and waiting for a doctor to call me back. If you only cared about your patients as much as you care about the money you charge....

Tl;dr: They dont care about their patients. Staff is un-professional. Doctor Freedman is a poor communicator.I Went to the Internal Medicine department to see Dr Freedman. All I needed was a physical, which my insurance covers 100%, but they made me schedule two appointments. The first was to establish care. This visit was essentially useless, the sole purpose of which is to bill you for another visit which my insurance didnt cover. When I asked them why I couldnt establish care at the physical the only response I could get (from multiple people) was that it was Policy. The only reason I see for this policy is to charge the patient for another visit and when I told them this opinion they didnt even deny it. They just gave me another its our policy response. The second visit was the actual physical. Apparently I was supposed to go somewhere else to have my tests done (blood work/urinalysis), before my physical (Another horrible Policy). No one told me this. I assumed they did them in-house like *every other Doctor Ive been to*. When I asked Dr Freedman where I had to go to get them done, he told me I had to schedule yet another appointment with labcorp to get them done. He didnt give me any contact information or even tell me where labcorp was until I specifically asked him. He acted as though I was dumb for not knowing, and annoyed that I was asking so many questions. I ended up having to lookup labcorp myself because I didnt even get a phone number to call. The front desk staff seemed very unhappy and un-welcoming. The staff always seemed to be having nothing fights in a very un-professional manner around patients.
