Horrible care. I came here after moving to the Columbia area in need of a new primary care facility. My first visit was okay but the doctor sent my prescriptions to a pharmacy not in network with my insurance after assuring me it was. I had better luck at the pharmacies figuring out where I could get my medicine than the doctors office. This is the most minor of complaints with this facility, but telling for future issues. Upon my second visiting I was wheeled around by staff after talking to the doctor. He left me with technicians without communicating anything about the tests I was about to receive such as additional costs and insurance coverage. I was then lied to by staff about whether blood work would incur an additional cost to me. I was told no and am now footing a several hundred dollar bill. In addition to this, no effort was made to schedule a follow up to even discuss these results and figure out a solution for the problem that I came in for. Nor were any prescriptions given to me that I discussed with the doctors. Staff was unhelpful in communicating to me whether these prescriptions were going through as I had to ask in place of the doctor who left mid visit without discussing anything about it further. I was never contacted or reached out to by anyone at this office.This facility also, at the very least, does not respect its pre op trans patients and fails to show any understanding of trans related health care. My partner and I will never be returning to this facility.If this practice would like to show that they can provide good care and service then they should communicate clearly to their patients what is and isnt in network for their insurance or at least tell them to check with their insurance. And they should especially not lie to the face of those in need of care. If they want to rectify an error like this, they can clear this up with the lab service and reimburse or at least lessen the cost of tests they did not communicate to patients properly about.

Be aware of Dr. Andrew Fields. This guy is not even a real doctor. He seemed more like a seasoned nurse that hates his job. For my first visit, everything seemed fine. Until the medical assistant said, Andrew Fields would be in a moment. This guy has the worst bedside manners ever. If I could give you an example, it would compare to Mcdonalds drive-thru. Im not saying this is the wrong place to go. Just pick another Physician or Nurse.Youre Welcome

This one star review is for the front desk and Andrew Fields, who I just found out doesnt even have the title DR, he is an NP-C!James Fields (who also is an NP-C apparently) and the lab nurses are great but I have experienced nothing but frustration and awful service otherwise.When I first tried to get my wife in for the first time, she came in five minutes before the appt and was rudely told to reschedule because the rest of them have a schedule. It was the lady behind the desk with the typical Karen hair. This was a first thing in the morning appt and I went through so much to even get her there just to be turned away. I wanted to quit trying there but my wife finally worked up enough courage to go get seen for depression and she gets turned away. How could they do that? They forget patients are humans too. Then later when my wife tried to get another appt for her and one for myself to get registered, the person on the phone said Id have to call in by myself. So what, I can get my wife in but my wife cant get me in?? I dont understand. And then recently my wife came down with something weird that fit with atypical covid symptoms. Her usual guy, James Fields, was out of the office so she got Andrew. This guy heard a few symptoms and said go get swabbed for Covid, flu and strep. Flu and Strep came back negative, Covid is a 2-4 day result test. 4 days go by and nobody is in the office because it is Thanksgiving so meanwhile she has spent 4 days suffering and crying scared she would die and our 1 year old wouldnt remember her, etc. She couldnt wait anymore so she called on Black Friday to find out her result was negative. They had the result for who knows how long and they just let her wait. This is COVID we are talking about not just some flu! While we waited for the result we didnt know if she should have been locked in the bedroom or if we had spread it to my parents last week when the symptoms started or what. It was hell waiting for these results, just to find out it was negative. Of course this didnt make things much better because people have been getting false negatives. So this week my wife tried to set up a follow up hoping to get the antibody test like they said they do in the prerecorded message before you even get to the real office. James is still out of office so she gets an appt with Andrew. Later that same day she gets a call from someone at the office saying James is out of office and we have to reschedule. Duh!! My wife just set it up with Andrew! Where is the miscommunication going on? So for the actual appt because they still wont see her in person even though her results were negative, the guy spends 5 minutes on the phone with her to tell her nah it was probably just a head cold (her symptoms were much more than it to be just that) and he didnt know what to tell her about the Covid result response time, and that the antibody tests are actually inaccurate and he wouldnt recommend one (So why are they even advertising these???). No reassurance or sympathy at all. This guy is so unhelpful and uncaring. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I am looking for another practice. James Fields is great and so are the lab nurses but I feel it is just not enough. Andrew does not take you seriously and makes you feel stupid for even asking. Dont waste your time here.

Called today for an appointment as a new patient for my fiancee. Did not even let me finish with my question, she then cut me off to say he needs to call himself and hung up on me. So very rude and i work in healthcare. How do you know he is able to call himself to make an appointment , yet let alone talk or hear. Very horrible service. I will never call back or ask someone to be sent there, if that is how customer service is done at that practice.

NP Fields and his staff are just so incredible. Dr. Fields has been caring for my mom for many years and she adores him. He always greets her warmly and takes the time to really listen and create an environment of trust. He always does all that he can to meet her health care needs and to make sure she is receiving the best care possible. He thoroughly looks at her medications, labs, and takes the time to really think about what is best for her immediate and long term care. We appreciate so much the amazing care she receives under this great practice.

Dr Fields and Nurse Shaina were awesome! They listened to all my concerns and advised me on all of them. He was very thorough. Everyone was bright and made me feel very comfortable.

James Fields has been awesome. The care that he provides and the time that he takes with his patients is what we truly need in health care. Michelle at the front desk has been awesome and pleasant as well. She has a smile that lights up a room and make you feel like you have come to the right place. The staff both XiXi and Selina are both prompt with return calls and very welcoming. I am happy to be a patient at this location and If I could give more then 5 stars I would.

Best Physicians in Columbiathey are so Professional, the staff there are very kind and helpful, Dr Andrews is very nice and professional, the best thing I liked is that they Explain everything and they go over everything Regarding your condition , Office is very clean and their wait time is regular not as other clinics where you have o wait 1 o 1 1/2 hrs to finally meet the doctor.I really Recommend this Primary Care PhysicianI live in Elgin and is kind of far from home but is worth it!

James Fields is an amazing practitioner, he really cares about his patients and takes the time to listen to all your concerns. Ive been seeing him for about 5 years now and since I moved from Columbia to Clemson, I still make the two and a half hour drive every three months to see him. I had a prescription run out because I didnt pay attention to the date on it (my fault) and he had the nurse call the pharmacy within the hour, which is amazing. Great place, and i recommend this practice to anyone looking for new primary care. 👍

I have known James Fields for 10+ years. He started treating me in his chiropractic clinic and now is my primary care physician. He is extremely easy to talk with and listens to all my concerns. He truly cares about his patients and seeks the best possible solution for them. I have 100% paid medical care with the VA, but I choose to seek my health care from James Field as a self paid client. The staff are very friendly and make you feel as part of the family! I highly recommend James Fields as a primary health care provider! You will not be disappointed!

If I could give them a 0 star review I would. I have never been so frustrated with just getting a normal asthma maintenance medication prescription filled. They never responded to the pharmacys request to fill out some sort of prior authorization request. They never answered their phone. They never called me back. Just kept blaming it on some computer system glitch. While the normal hours are 5 pm, good luck reaching anyone after three. When I finally went in person, they insisted that I come in for yet another doctor (hes not an M.D.) visit and held up the prior authorization until I came in for another needless visit. Even though the prescription still had another order on it, they insisted that I come in to increase revenues. This for a maintenance med I have used for 25 years...Very unhappy with this place. Very unprofessional staff.

Dr. Fields is the best! I’ve known him for years as a chiropractor and he helped me so much! I’m so excited that he has become a nurse practitioner and can treat me for all my medical needs. Ive dealt with asthma for over 27 years. In November I had the worst attack ever. It seemed like nothing was working and I became so overwhelmed and not to mention frightened. I was hospitalized and given medication but unfortunately it only worked temporarily. I scheduled my appointment with Nurse Practitioner James Fields and the first words he asked were, How are you? I couldnt hold it. I began to cry because I was beyond scared, it seemed like nothing was working! I wanted to beg him using the words, Please fix me! But I didnt have to. He immediately assisted me with medications and was very aggressive about making sure I received what I needed. Today I walked in to be seen for another reason. The moment I walked in the office I began to tear up. These were the people who saved my life. Im sure some would say, Its their job. But Nurse Practitioner James Fields and his staff are dedicated and caring people. Today I told him thank you. Two small simple words. He saved my life. I will be forever grateful.

James Fields and his staff are awesome!! It really feels like a family environment! I can honestly say, that I feel and believe that his concern for not only my health and wellness, but the extensive effort and care is genuine. He is always very patient and extremely thorough, and these are all rare characteristics found in healthcare facilities today sadly enough. When I first started as a patient I had Medicaid. I was new to Medicaid, but Id heard of some of the horrible treatment and read several disheartening stories, and soon enough, I personally experienced a few embarrassing and heartbreaking situations myself in another (specialist) doctors office. I havent had Medicaid in a few years now, however, Ive NEVER been treated any differently in this office. I was treated with the same compassion and genuine care from the the first day I stepped in. I have referred others to this office and I have also turned down other references as well, and I will continue to do so! Theres a saying, If its not broken, dont fix it. Unless youre not feeling well, or need a chiropractor, then come to James Fields and his team! They can fix anything! And if they cant, theyll send you to someone else who can, whos just as awesome as they are! (Shout out to Dr. Huffman! Another angel!)When I first started as a patient at this office, I was extremely depressed and I almost wanted to give up on life. I was extremely unhappy and very unhealthy. James wouldnt allow me to take the easy way out. He didnt prescribe me any get slim quick or happy pills. He took the time to listen to all of my symptoms, he sent to specialists and a cardiologist, and scheduled regular visits. He made sure that I was taking blood pressure medication and a healthier me was a happier me. He suggested healthier diets that actually worked. (Go figure! Lol!) He never rushed me out of his office and I NEVER ONCE felt like a number or invaluable. I told him that I didnt THINK that I could lose weight without a pill and he told me that he didnt THINK that Id ever TRIED...HE WAS RIGHT..and had never even known me..HE made ME want to feel better and he made want to DO better.You may NEVER know the type of impact you may have on someones life! This guy and this office ROCKS!

I have been coming to Providence Family Medicine Heathwood for years and I am always satisfied with their services and my treatment. The entire staff is friendly and it’s super easy to get an appointment when I need it!

I moved to Devine St and I was looking for a new physician for my autistic son who had aged out of his pediatrician. You call incessantly and no real person picks up the phone, I forgot how I even finally got someone on the phone..then after a week of trying to get someone on the phone, SHE in turns tells me to call back on June 24th because they were changing systems (that was 3weeks away mind you) I called back bright and early on that Monday just to have to make several more calls and still leave message, TWO DAYS LATER, I finally talk to someone that says shes gonna call me back to help me make an appt 30 DAYS OUT, AND SHE NEVER CALLED BACKED! The level of unprofessionalism was ao rampant, I decided to look elsewhere because I suspect that my son may have diabetes, and thats why I want him to go there because the NP specializes in diabetes treatment, but if he does...I worry at the level of care and accessibility of the NP at this circus where no one can answer the phones properly, schedule timely appts or return phone calls. Thanks you absolutely nothing, my son will be fine!

Ive grown up military and this practice is the first time I have the option of choosing my own primary care physician with my own insurance.What I appreciate most is the level of genuine personal care that all members of the staff extended to me for my time there. The nurse who took care of me before the doctor came in really paid attention to everything I had to say, explained fully the things I had questions about, and spoke from experience with this practice and another she had worked at.When James Fields came in—and this is the shortest wait Ive ever had with a doctor, and I feel the most balanced ratio of time with time waiting, time with nurse, and time with doctor—he listened fully to everything I had to say, including my reasons for hesitation in saying something because in the past Ive had situations where doctors or nurses were dismissive of the concerns I brought to appointments.He went through the summative note-taking process in front of me and invited me to correct him to make sure his observations were true to my experience. Where there were issues with medical supplies (the only downside I can observe for this practice is that it is a small business so they are balancing costs and not everything is available on site, such as specimen receptacles for a certain lab-work, or at one point someone was looking for a new battery for the thing that clips onto the fingertip to keep track of pulse and that specific battery wasnt in the place where it was supposed to be) they were very prepared with referrals to outside entities such as LabCorp or a specialist.I look forward to working with this doctor, and in a personal opinion I prefer the experience that a nurse practitioner brings in the practice. The benefits of care, integrity, and a doctor with a reputation of researching everything to be sure hes looking out for his patients are the thinfs that make this a good place for me. The only downsides Ive seen could be summed up probably by office management of its matters of batteries and sample cups.
