They might not be everyone’s cup of tea (especially if you’re the kind of person who floods Google with one-star reviews of any professional who has been in the same room as your child) but I’ve had a great experience. I had to see them after a major loss in the family, and Staci Quan has been very helpful with coaching me through recognizing and respecting my own feelings while still supporting my family. I love having access to their therapy dog for my anxiety!

SAVE yourself the hassle and heart ache. Carolina Pediatrics referraled me to this specialist for my six year old son, after I discussed with his pediatrician that the child has some very scary behaviors (to include self harm, holding his breath, and night time teeth grinding). I thought this was a wonderful idea considering Carolina Pediatrics and Associates in Behavioral Health share the SAME carpet, that it would make communication between the two a beautiful relationship. WRONG.1. This place has the MOST RACHET receptionist ever. From what I can tell, they only have one that works there. If shes not there, you are sol. If she is there, youre still 99% sol.2. I explained to Dr. Tumar (however it is spelled), that I wanted to discuss my sons behaviors in private without my son being present (AT FIRST), then he could speak to the child, mostly because I didnt want to talk about my son in the manner in front of him. He agreed, so I left the child with his father in the waiting room. After supplying the doctor with the laundry list of very concerning behaviors, he promptly stated that he could diagnose the child with four things: ADHD, anxiety, depression and possibly somewhere on the spectrum, HOWEVER, it would be malpractice for him to diagnose my child with any of these without him first seeing a Neurologist to eliminate any physiological issues to include epilepsy. Then I asked if he would like to speak with the child, to which he said, I dont really need to just based on what youve told me. How do you give a referral or diagnoses to a child that you havent even seen? Should have been my red flag.3. Thats not even the big problem. After being told that I should tell my pediatrician (Mubarak at Carolina Pediatrics) that Tumar said I need a referral to a Pediatric Neurologist, thats when it all hit the fan. Apparently just because the two places share a carpet, doesnt mean that they communicate on any professional level. IN FACT, they argued for nearly a month over who was the responsible party for writing the referral, which I still never got. It resulted in my having to set an additional appointment with Doctor Mubarak at Carolina Pediatrics to go over the same symptoms I had gone over with Tumar at the Associates in Behavioral Health, to which Mubarak explained he would not be writing a referral because he did not believe the child needed to see a Neurologist or a mental health specialist?!?!So by now Im extremely irritated, and Im trying to pass the messages back and forth between the two offices over the phone, and the Rachet receptionist is short with me, explaining that they will not be writing the referral either?! Considering neither of these locations are a convenient location for me anymore, I transferred my sons medical records to a new pediatrician and have since then been offered a referral to USC mental and behavioral health specialist. My recommendation to this office would be to consider better communication with patients, and their doctors (especially when they are in the same building as you). No parent wants to be told their child could be suffering from the things theyve been worried about for 6 years, with dead end solutions!

Great counseling but the worst secretarial work ever! They cancelled a whole month and a half of appointments for my son incorrectly due to a misunderstanding. The appointments fill up so quickly that I was just put on a cancellation list, and my son has gone without treatment for longer than he should. Terrible
