I realize every person has their own opinion; but, I really do not understand the negative reviews. I am treated for neurology and pain. I see Dr Meyers, Dr. Tavel, and P. A. Matt. I have experience nothing short of professionalism, kindness, and care from my doctors and the staff. I greatly appreciate the extra mile they go to ensure I have the best care possible. I’ve been to a few other pain management facilities in Columbia and I’m glad l was referred here.I encourage anyone who doesn’t have the same experience as me to talk with management to reach resolution.

I could not have asked for nicer and more professional individuals than that here at Pain Specialists of Columbia. I had my initial visit yesterday, 19 April 21, and was totally satisfied with the outcome of my visit.I do not understand how all these negative reviews are justifiable. I guess its true, you cant please everyone.I THANK Doctors Matt and Matthew for their time and energies in helping me.This practice saw me in six days of my initial call and thats practically unheard of.I look forward to working with my doctors here in dealing with my debilitating spinal condition.Again, thanks to everyone !!!ID RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR SPINAL CARE.L. I had an appointment today as a new patient Feb 12, 2021. I was very disappointed because I came to get tested by the neurologist. I was told the neurologist comes twice a month and they would let me know when I could get tested to see what’s going on. In the meantime I left in pain. This was time and money wasted. My appointment should have been set up when the neurologist was in the office. I’m in pain and I travel a great distance for nothing. They didn’t even set up a follow up appointment. Not even sure when they will get back in touch. Very, very disappointed.

Do not go if you are having brain issues. This clinic is not prepared or skilled in the treatment or understanding of brain tumors or cyst. When I would ask questions, the response was I have no idea. When I asked if she will be contacting me with the answers to the questions that I have, she said, no, I will discuss at your next visit. My next visit was suppose to be 6 months from then and I was not ok with that. I am running fast from this clinic!

Some of the staff can be a little nasty or nonchalant sometimes. I am receiving more care and being listened to versus my previous pain management provider.

I was very disappointed that they do not treat fibromyalgia, or OA! Which was why I got a referral there to begin with. They do not write prescriptions for pain, unless it’s muscle spasms or nerve pain. They do not believe in pain medication, even though they are a pain clinic. They shouldn’t be a pain clinic unless they can treat all patients suffering from chronic pain. I wasted so many hours driving there and waiting to be seen. Just to be told that they can’t treat me. If your looking for actually pain relief that’s not injections and surgery, go somewhere else!

Saw Matthew Reid the PA at end of December for a follow up to a stroke at initial appointment I brought my records from hospital. Dr Meyers was brought in by Matthew Reid. I was told at that visit to allow them to review medical records and come back in 4 Weeks. When I went to follow up appointment it was very obvious that my records had not been reviewed as for the PA began scrolling through them as I sat there not really speaking to me more to himself. He was apparent ally searching for some lab reports which I asked him what other tests were needed and he said something about blood work and then he said no here it is all the while focused on computer screen. as he was leaving room he said something about a hematology referral. When tech/ nurse Amy(only reason why this practice received a star) I asked her why the referral and she went to ask PA and was told to tell me a hematology stroke work up which basically did not answer question why. I called and left message at office to have someone contact me after a few days to provide me with more information of why this referral was made. No one returned my call.and when I received an alert regarding clinic notes posted on their patient portal I logged into the portal and on portal used the option to send message to PA. In the meantime I called Columbia office and when it went to voicemail I called the home office in Charleston I spoke with Devon and inquired about the message option on their portal and asked if it was monitored. I was told that it was not monitored so it’s basically useless. I asked why it wasn’t monitored for which I wastold me they did not know and when I inquired who would know that I was told the owner Dr. Tavel when I asked how to get in touch with him I was told they did not know nor did the office manager. She contacted the PA in Columbia and called me back relaying a message back from pA I asked for her to email me what he had said , her response was she didn’t have an email address and added that the PA had said it was my choice whether or not to see hematologist. AlI wanted to know was why I was being referred to a hematologistI went to this practice to seek medical advice on why I had stroke not not to leave with more questions than answers.

This place is horrendous! To be sitting in the lobby an hour after your scheduled appointment time is totally unacceptable. They are always sorry that they “are running a little bit behind”. Further, they make no attempt to maintain any type of social distancing in the lobby. I was hoping that the second visit would be different from the first but nope! Find another provider if you value time and personal safety.

Every one was very very nice and polite, Dr explained everything to me and as many times as it took for me to understand, I am dyslexic and some times I have to ask same ?s again if I dont understand, Dr was awesome, then for my epideral steroid/ nerve block procedure, Dr was awesome again, told me what was going on and what he was going to do before he did it and what to expect. Very nice guy and felt like he took his time to listen and make sure I understand what was going on.AwesomeI have been in pain management since 2000 so I know what a lot of us go thru at some pain management places.

I have been going here for over a year. I havent had any problems until the last couple of visits. Now they are planning on taking me off of all pain medications (which would be fine with me, if they had a plan for surgery, but their plan is to just give me injections). I have been on pain medications for about 5 years or more. I was on way too many in TN, and when I came here I agreed to be taken off quite a bit. Now all of a sudden I no longer need them only injections. Also my pain medications I am on are 30 day prescriptions, well, the last one i had filled was on January 6th. I just got my new prescription and the fill date is February 6th. That is more than 30 days. I thought it was just a mistake and when I said something, they said I was wrong and I will be fine. So upsetting after a year and almost a half of being a satisfied patient.

I totally disagree with all of the negative reviews on here! After suffering from a back injury, I have been suffering from back/hip/leg pain for years. Dr. Tavel is not the first pain Dr that I have been a patient of, but he is the first Dr to take me seriously and has actually helped me with relieving some of my pain! The staff is friendly, and I have never noticed very long wait times. I would (and already have) recommend them to others who are looking for a pain Dr!

Dont read these reviews. Everyone always has the smallest stuff to complain about. Ive been dealing with back pain for 3 years thats been left untreated and something told me to just try this place out. There wasnt any wait time as my appointment was at 2pm and I was out by 2:47. It was clean & the front desk staff was extremely friendly. Once I got upstairs to my room the nurse was very nice & listened very well. I met with Dr. Galica who was absolutely awesome and a great listener as well! He took his time to listen to my concerns and evaluated me for my exact chief complaint and didnt focus on the non factoring stuff like some docs do. He was very helpful and I am extremely excited about our treatment plan going forward! This was only my first visit but I am very satisfied with my choice in choosing this office. Do not read the reviews below because I did at first and I was skeptical but everyone was extremely helpful, professional, nice, and knowledgeable. Looking forward to my upcoming visit to cure this back pain! Thanks so much Dr. Galica and his team! Yall are awesome!!

I do NOT recommend. No tests were done and I was give medicine and told to take the meds for 4 weeks, then come back to see them for follow up. Was told that if after the 4 weeks the medicine does not work then they will order testing. I spent almost an hour after my scheduled appointment time waiting to be called back. So disorganized.

This is nothing more than a so called pain specialist that if they cant false bill insurance companies for injections or other worthless treatments of someone who actually has injuries and cant afford insurance and had already tried and PD. For previous worthless treatments than they r not interested in treating the truly disabled. That actually needs medication ... not to mention cant tell the truth w/ a gun pointed to there head the office blames the dr. And the dr. Blames the medical board dishonesty is the only consistent I found w/ this pl. however Im sure if ur not self pay and they could false bill ur insurance company would fit there profile ... however if u have had 5 acl reconstructions a replaced knee and 25 surgeries requiring metal repair including a back fusion requiring 2 rods and 16 screws on top of 30 surgeries for a face reconstruction they r not able to help dr. Tavala shouldnt even have a medical license. For letting true people in pain not being taken care of just bc they cant make$ on u there answer was referring me out to a dr. Who charges 350.00 just to see them being disabled and having limited income this was a financial burden however dr. ogbury-obonannuy actually understood my unchosen dilemma and not only understands my immediate needs but had a future planning of pain management going forward as well as recognizing the 10 concussions I rec. from racing over a 20 yr. professional career could be be treated nothing PSOC. Even asked my suggestion is to go directly to dr. O and get real medical treatment not somewhere that is just concerned about profit linesWritten on behalf of Breck Higgins
