The morning staff are the most professional employees Ive ever seen in a commercial gym. The front desk worker Colten is always courteous when I walk in and the house keeper Christian does an amazing job maintaining the cleanliness of the gym. They lost my paperwork to cancel my membership. I moved states and jobs and didn’t see the notices that I was still being charged so I racked up a bunch of late fees (my bad) but when I tried to pay them, I was double charged and after weeks of trying to get my refund I just had my bank deal with it. Now I‘ve gotten another unknown charge and they won’t answer my phone calls. I’ve called three times and I keep getting a corporate answering machine. 0/10.

The female manager went out of her way to tell me that I couldnt take pics of myself when I workout. I was asking something completely different.... have u seen the ig location for this everyone posts videos and pictures of their workouts like ppl do 🤦🏽‍♂️i reluctantly frequent this place only bc the 2 staff members that are friendly are truly good employees that make it worth enduring the rest of the staff.

Ive been member of the gym for almost 3 years. The gym is extremely dirty and smells so bad. There are all sweat all over the floor and machines. They have limited fans and people turn them them off as they wish and the staff dont care about other customers who want the fans on. The staff are not supportive and helpful. There was a situation in the gym today that one of the customer wanted the fan off and the air was unbearable and so heavy that I couldnt breath and I asked the staff Daniel L. to resolve the issue and he didnt help me at all, instead told me you have to accept the situation or you can cancel your membership. He didnt even let me talk to the manager of the gym!!There are some new clean gyms in the town with more friendly and helpful staff and better air conditioning system, so I dont recommend this gym at all. BTW, I canceled my membership today when the staff refused to help me and also didnt let me talk to the manger.

I mean, its a Golds. So its consistently normal. This one has some stuff that typical Golds Gyms dont - like lifting platforms, etc. So its not too bad. Nicer people than the local powerlifting gym, and cheaper for students, so theres that. Students there tell me they like it. Ive lifted there and like it for what it is.

I have had a great experience with Gold’s so far! Here are the reasons/experiences so far that have made me happy with my choice.1. I came here intermittently as a guest in college because my friend taught some of the group exercise classes and I loved them. Their fun and energetic instructors and choreography helped me lose weight and get in shape. Now that I’ve moved back 10 years later and I need to get rid of baby weight I decided to give it another try.2. They were very helpful and accommodating during the trial process. I got a week trial pass from the College Station location. I went to use it at the Tower point location a few days later and realized it was a trial for the College Station location only. The GM of the Tower point location still let me work out there though since I hadn’t realized this. I was very pleased with this.3. Before I decided to sign up I wanted to compare Gold’s and Tru fit classes. After some research I realized that Gold’s had more of the types of classes I wanted at the times I wanted them. This was a big factor in my decision because I am working around my baby’s nap schedule and if I’m going to keep up with working out I need to enjoy the classes.4. When I went back to sign up at the College Station location, everything went smoothly until after we were done and they mentioned the monthly fee for my baby being in childcare. Whether they had mentioned this fee during my tour a couple weeks prior I can’t honestly say but I didn’t remember it (probably because of baby brain) and I know they didn’t mention it during the sign up process. This was frustrating because I had not expected it and hadn’t factored it into my comparison between Golds and Tru fit. I explained this to them and on the spot they were apologetic but did nothing about it. I walked away frustrated and wondering if I’d made the right choice and I even called Tru fit and confirmed that they do not charge for childcare. However, about 30 minutes later I got a call from them telling me that they were going to wave the fee for the whole year do to the misunderstanding. So awesome! Suddenly I was reassured that I had made the right choice after all.Overall, I know Gold’s can be more expensive and it does have some other drawbacks like a childcare fee and an hour less of childcare than Tru fit. However, between the great customer experience I’ve received so far and the class selection and times that fit my needs, this is the right gym for me. Thanks Gold’s!

Worst mistake I made to have stepped foot in this place. They are very deceitful. DO NOT BELIEVE A THING THEY TELL YOU!!! I signed up in the no contract/commitment and the no sign up fee promotional period. What a joke. Before I had signed up I told them that I may be moving soon and If I were to move I would need to end the membership. Well, he told me to go talk to him directly and he would take care of me and end it with full refund of unused membership. Well, when I did try to end my membership like I had anticipated, he told me that he never said that. Oh and he kept saying In your contract it says this and in your contract it says that... Whatever happened to no contract? He then rephrased it to an agreement. WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AGREEMENT AND CONTRACT? Who knows. Best this is not to deal with them. After a long phone call, he finally just said Ill get my manager to call you back. I guess it was just a way to hang up. Never received a call.Long story short, I ended up having to pay 3 months worth of membership that I wasnt able to use ($345). Oh and if I didnt pay, my bill would be send to collections. Save your money for something more useful, no different than taking a match and burning your money away before your eyes.

Around 5 to 6pm it gets so busy that you need to wait for people to free up benches. Many old equipments that you would not expect to see in a gym that costs this much. The worst is that when signing the membership with a sales rep he only told us that it was a 3 months contract and after that it would be a month to month, there was no mention of a 30 days cancelation notice. We went to cancel our membership 19 days before the renew date, and were informed that we would have to pay for another month. I explained to the gym manager and the regional manager that we could not afford to pay another month, and how we were not informed about that condition. But still they will charge us.So be aware, ask for a copy of the contract before you sign it.

Have yet to cancel my membership, but after reading the other reviews I will be sure to keep the paperwork when/if I ever do. Other than that my only complaint about this gym is their late fees are outrageous. I wish they would stress the importance of good gym etiquette though, I spend half my workout time clearing off weights before I can use them. It would also be nice if they stayed open until midnight all 7 days/week. I also wish they had wifi. Having said that, I love this gym. I have looked into other places around town and even been to a few places and will always stick with Golds. They have the best equipment, the biggest and most spacious weight floor, you can take as many classes as you want, its all included in the membership, I love the fact that they have a womens only area, this was great for me when I first started working out and was intimidated. I usually go at night so its never crowded when I go. The gym is clean, well-kept, and has decent hours.

Please do yourself a huge favor and save your money and time by registering across to Tru Fit, their much cheaper and better in my opinion. Its only $10 a month with a one time fee. I was told initially that I only had to pay an enrollment fee or sign up for their useless studio membership (which came about the same price), so I decided why not get the studio and ONLY DID SO, because the worker there told me that I could change it right after I signed up so long as I did it before the next billing cycle. I went in two weeks prior and tried changing it and they didnt allow me. So im stuck with a balance of $100, paying for a useless membership premium, for three months because when you cancel. YOU STILL GET BILLED FOR THE MONTH AFTER CANCELLATION. SCREW THAT. Please people, save your money and go to Tru Fit, your wallet will thank you.

The staff has also taken on a very condescending attitude recently (I’ve tried recommending Golds to some friends, one session with the sales staff and they never come back). There’s only one problem, they have the weight selection we need that others don’t offer. However, now that trufit has been renovating gyms in the area and is opening another location right across the street, I have a options. Same weights at half the price? This gym is a great place to workout as they offer tons of equipment. However, my car got broken into in their parking lot causing $2,000 worth of damage! The employee that took a report said that it has happened several times. If this has happened several times then why did they not install security cameras or at least warn their members not to park on the side?! When I spoke to the manager all he said was sorry, we put the signs to hide your belongings! My belongings were hidden. I would say, at the least, this gym should offer me a free membership if they are not going to help pay for the damage! Very disappointed with the management at this gym!

I told him I was interested in the classes and he said they had a lot of classes I can join but no any detailed explanation... I had to ask for schedule of the class myself. After I told him I need to go home and take a closer look of the schedule and class introduction, he asked me if there was any reason I cannot join the gym now!.... They said they couldnt immediately end my membership unless I submitted a copy of a new Golds Gym contract. Well it was another wrong oops and I was still charged for the additional month. In total I paid an extra $150 because the employees dont know their own regulations and procedures. The mens bathroom is atrocious, and I cant help but notice nobody has deep cleaned the sink or even all the water fountains more than once or twice in the last year. The spa room has also been out of commission forever. Years maybe? Its under construction now, but it was supposedly under construction for the last year.Totally unprofessional feel to this place. Its full of a high amount of steroid and hormone use/abuse (fine), but the real issue after that is people recording and Instagramming with their partners and capturing others in frame. I could go on.The redeeming point here? Tons of workout space, free weights, machines, separate saunas, womens private workout area, and oh my Goodness: Squat racks. Yeah. Nice gym, but (some of) the employees are jerks.Pros:- Nice, well-maintained- Enough equipment that you usually dont have to wait, especially if you build flexibility into your regimine to avoid waiting on particular equipment- Customers are generally friendly and approachable- Decent priceCons:- Overheard or saw employees mocking customers on multiple occassions during my short 3 months at this gym- Price is a tough sell to students or anybody with access to the Rec which has nicer and more equipment (albeit, much more crowded)- Aggressively try to sell personal trainers during sign up, including pitching false information to you such as unreasonable promises of body change, weight loss, etc.Overall, this place is fine if you keep to yourself, know what youre doing, and generally dont have any quirks or odd mannerisms; if you do, you might get some heat from the employees behind your back. If its close to you and you have the money, its probably not the worst choice you could make, but it aint the best either.

Ive sent them all the acceptable proof of relocation, which they say will terminate the contract with no problem, only to have my emails and calls ignored. The gym itself is ok but not near as good as 24 hour fitness. The customer service and way they handle cancelation is terrible! I was a member for a year and a half and when I joined I was on contract for 1 year after that it was supposed to be month to month. I was told if I moved to an area without a golds that I could cancel immediately. However when I moved and tried to cancel, I called and they said I had to email the cancelation. This is ridiculous in the computer age. I emailed Travis Granado and received no response or confirmation of cancelation, even after multiple emails. I called customer service and was given the run around and lots of bad attitudes and told to email. No one canceled my membership. I was still charged the monthly fee and had to put a stop payment on my bank account. 2 and 1/2 months later they are still calling and texting and emailing me saying I owe payment and the membership which should be canceled is on danger of being canceled , which is hilarious irony. I called to tell them to stop harassing me and cancel the membership and the woman was rude and aggressive with me all while telling me she was good at her job. They have put 2 more charges on my account for the declined payments they tried to process after I put the stop payment on my bank account. They are horrible and sign you up on the computer quickly but harass you when you try to cancel. I will be reporting them to the BBB.

Yesterday was our first meeting with Jordan (personal trainer) and as scared as we were, she assured us that we can accomplish our goals in the time frame we are hoping to. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!I have no way to stress this statement enough. This gym is NOT for people just looking to start working out and getting into shape it is only for people who are already gym junkies. On top of the unfriendliness to beginners there is an obligation contract they force you to sign which makes you unable to cancel your gym membership unless you; 1) Move somewhere that is outside of 25 miles from a golds gym with a ridiculous amount of proof needed to prove it 2) have a doctors note saying you are unable to workout or 3) you die. If you attempt to cancel the card where the payment is being extracted they will file with a debt collection agency and start attacking your credit. This is a scam. Do not fall for it. Unless you are already a gym junkie or are a body builder, and you know youll spend the entire year going religiously, this gym is not for you.

I have recently left this gym and I would like to amend my review and hopefully give better context to other reviews. This is a heads up to others potentially considering Golds Gym. Your gym contract states that you must give one months advance notice before you terminate your contract. This is a defacto cancellation fee since most people wont know a month in advance before they cancel. KNOW THIS IN ADVANCE. Im not upset with the service I got. My cancellation was still handled professionally and courteously by the staff of Golds Gym. This is a corporate policy which the local gym has no control over.As for the gym: The College Station Golds is a great gym for experienced weightlifters looking to be around people with similar goals. There are several bodybuilders and powerlifters who work out here. There are 4 Powerrack/Deadlift Platforms and 2 Separate squat racks and approximately 8 bench and variation bench press racks. They have a substantial dumbbell/free weight area as well as machines, several classes (including a Golds Gym version of cross fit) and plenty of treadmills and cardio equipment. The front desk staff is extremely helpful however, the sales staff lack good follow-up skills. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone who is serious about weight lifting.
