We took my girlfriends parents to the beautiful campus of Regency Oaks for a tour with the sales representative, Perry. The entire campus is pristine and quiet, spalled among tree covered grounds. The apartments we toured were exceptionally appointed, roomy, and bright with big balconies. We were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the happy residents. Many residents stopped to brag to us about their experience living at Regency Oaks. Activities and friendships made were a highlight of their stories. As part of our tour at we enjoyed dinner in the dining room. The Chef came out to introduce himself and explain the evenings menu. The food was exquisite! Our salmon was cooked perfect and the potatos au gratin were so yummy! And our server, Diego (I think), was so good. He was very friendly and on top of our dining experience.Perry was a top professional and helped us get the full experience in a very casual way without pressure. We were very impressed all the way around! If you are looking for a senior living community, I would highly recommend visiting.

My husband & I have close friends that moved, from our country club community, into the independent living section of Regency Oaks 9 yrs. ago.We have visited on numerous occasions, sharing many wonderful meals & some entertainment, under Regency Oak’s “friends for life” program. The food is excellent, like a cruise ship. The staff is very warm & welcoming. The grounds & buildings immaculate. The husband sadly passed away several years ago. The wife just had a stroke & was placed in “Sylvan” Rehab. Section which is located on the same Regency Oaks campus, close to her many Regency friends. My friend has progressed & is, currently, in the Assisted Living section of”Sylvan” awaiting return to her own Apt. in independent living.I am a retired RN & have visited her frequently @ “Sylvan” rehab. & assisted living. It is very clean & seems so well run. The nursing & physical therapy staff seemed excellent, when I interacted with them & observed therapy sessions. My husband has also spontaneously commented about “Sylvan” being so clean.I really appreciate & am very impressed that Regency Oaks - “Sylvan” rehab. & assisted living sections have provided my friend with such good care in her recovery.Jeanne

I LOVE ❤️ living at Regency Oaks. It is beautiful, well maintained and well run. Great food and dining choices. We have been residents in Independent Living here for 5 years. So much to enjoy. Do not wait until you need assisted living or nursing care - move while you can enjoy all Regency Oaks has to offer. Most of these reviews seem to be critical of the nursing center. I do not understand that! We have the highest rated rehab and nursing facility in Pinellas County and one of best in State. I was there for 8 days after surgery. I have no complaints about the care I received. The Physical Therapy department was wonderful. Rita Casey, Director of Nurses did everything possible to help me prepare for my stay and address allergies, etc.If you are looking for a Continuing Care Retirement Community then you can be assured that Regency Oaks is your best choice.

Moving to Regency Oaks was the best decision I have ever made. Each day I look forward to the many activities they offer and spend the day happy to be with so many of my new friends. Not having to clean or cook leaves me with time to enjoy the exercise, art, theater and many other courses they offer.

Living at Regency Oaks has lowered our stress levels while increasing our peace-of-mind about aging. No more stressing about home ownership, maintenance, landscaping, pest control, utilities and food preparation. With continuing care we know that if we need it, we will have quality care...

My parents moved to Brookdales Regency Oaks Independent Living Community in May of 2018 at the ages of 85 and 89. They were sold hard on the basis of a continuum of care/age in place at the community. This was sold as independent living, assisted living and a skilled nursing that would allow them to reside at Regency Oaks through the end of life.My parents completed the required medical and financial assessments to enter the Brookdale Regency Oaks Community. These medical assessments included my mothers diagnosis of dementia. My parents were approved to move into independent living in February of 2018.After paying an initial entry fee, selecting an apartment and being given a move in date, my parents decided to not move. At which time, Regency Oaks refunded their initial deposit. However, the director of the community and their sales person continued to follow-up with my parents and in May of 2018 they moved into independent living at Regency OaksThe large six figure sum my parents paid up front to enter Regency Oaks was stated to provide them with discounted skilled nursing access and other benefits of which my parents never received. In fact, it was later discovered that the entry fees being charged to new residents were variable and my suspicion is that they are based on the ability to pay. Why else would they have to review all of an applicants financial information. After less than year at Regency Oaks, my mothers dementia had progressed and was adversely impacting her mobility and other functions. She was admitted to the hospital and discharged to rehabilitation and then skilled nursing twice. The skilled nursing facility at Regency Oaks, Sylvan Center, informed us that my mother would require a 24/7 care while at skilled nursing and when she returned to independent living. They indicated that she could not remain at the Regency Oaks Sylvan Skilled Nursing Center due to her dementia. We complied with the 24/7 care requirement and continued to try and work with Regency Oaks management to find a way for my parents to remain together at Regency Oaks. It was hard for us to understand how this Brookdale facility sold as a community to age in place and advertised as being a dementia care facility in the newspaper (I have the ad).Brookdale/Regency Oaks told us that my mother could no longer live independent living and that they did not have a skilled nursing facility for her to move to in the area.We spent tens of thousands of dollars on the 24/7 care required by Regency Oaks. My mothers condition required skilled nursing care due to her mobility and motor skills. With no alternatives to remain at Brookdale Regency Oaks, we decided to relocate my parents to another facility where they could be together and get the level of care they needed. In November of 2019 after a year and half at Regency Oaks, we moved my parents to a Westminster facility with my Dad in Assisted Living and my Mom in Skilled Nursing. They are in the same building and spend time together daily and receive the type of care we expected from Regency Oaks.To add insult to injury, the management at Brookdale Regency Oaks never showed any compassion for my parents situation and were rude money grubbing corporate dirt bags. There contract, which their sales people pushed through for signatures from a two elderly people, only refunded less than half of the large six figure sum taken from parents at the time of admission. And, my parents are not the only ones that have been treated this way by Brookdale. My recommendation to anyone considering Regency Oaks or any Brookdale facility is to run away as fast as you can. The only good thing I can say about Regency Oaks is that my parents liked the food. My real rating is 0 stars.

My grandma has been in short term rehabilitation here for a couple of weeks. I visit on a daily basis and was under the impression for the most part that everything was run relatively well. This is a complete facade. Like anywhere there are great staff members and then there are the ones that make you concerned that you made the biggest mistake trusting them to care for your relative. They are also clearly understaffed which concerns me.I noticed my grandma had blood on her sheet and when I asked her why she pointed to an open wound on her leg. The nurse came in and put a bandage on it, didn’t clean it or anything first and also said she cannot use any type of antibiotic cream until a doctor approved it. The nurse had also stated that the doctor had been paged twice that day and had not responded. My grandma also had some larger bruises and wounds that I had not noticed previously.I went to the the nursing director to express my concerns about how my grandma has seemed to have more wounds and asked about the the antibiotic ointment and I made the mistake of using the word bed sore, which I was under the impression it was that (I had been using the word bed sore to the other nurses and I guess I didn’t hear or understand when it was clarified to me that it was just a wound from some sort of unknown cause) The nursing director Rita Casey immediately got defensive when I spoke with her, asking if I was a nurse in a very condescending manner. I explained to her I was not and I was only going off of what her staff told me. I come here almost everyday and I was just expressing my concerns that she seemed in worse condition than she had on previous days. The nursing director was so rude to me and instead of addressing my concerns she kept antagonizing me by asking me if I was a nurse or when I would use a word that someone in a non-medical profession would use such as “cut” or “scrape” she would belittle me and rudely correct me with a medical term unknown to me, she did this intentionally, in a unprofessional and rude tone. I feel as though she became defensive like I was accusing them of neglect. I was not accusatory in any sense and only voiced my concerns. So I will stop short of saying that this place is negligent in their physical care to their residents but if a relative cannot bring up a concern to the person in charge without being made to feel like they are wrong and get talked down to in a condescending manner than this place does not deserve more than one star. The Nursing Director additionally told me she would hope for my grandma’s case I was not her power of attorney. She told me that she was the highest person there to speak with and then when I told her she was rude and unprofessional she said she would have me removed and I would never be allowed back. She told me I was just repeating myself and she wouldn’t assist me any further. I told her there were many other facilities in the area and she shouldn’t treat people that way. We made a choice to come to Regency Oaks, the nurses are there to care for the residents.Bottom line, I left in tears. I was humiliated, nervous and sad. I hope that there will not be any retaliatory action on her part. This whole experience has been absolutely disheartening and I now I wonder if I should be concerned for my grandma’s well being. I really hope that every other resident there has an advocate to speak up for them as well. I cannot imagine the elderly people who have to go through this alone. Shame on this type of behavior!

I don’t know know anything about the goings on at this facility. But I do know some things about their “Director of Nursing” Rita Casey... That being said, stay far away from this place.

They left my grandma crying in pain for three hours we had to call 911 to get her help. I myself talked to them about getting a nurse to her room. I waited fifteen minutes and had to yell for them to have a nurse come to her room. My grandma broke her hip got up off the floor and sat in a chair without a word. She doesn’t cry unless the pain is severe. I am so livid and upset at this point

My wife and I have lived in Regency Oaks Independent Living for one year now. We are completely satisfied with our decision to move here. Or should I say happy! After a 2 year search in 3 states, we couldnt be more happy with our choice. Staff is always happy to help, if needed and very friendly. Food is great. Grounds are beautiful. And plenty of activities, gardening, wood shop, bridge, yoga, tai chi and aquatics, just to name a few. Our kids like it too. I should add that we moved from Texas to Clearwater.A 2020 Update! We have now lived here for two years. On the 2 year anniversary we got out the fine wine glasses and toasted the wise decision we made in moving to Regency Oaks. Regency Oaks staff has been working hard to keep the residents safe from COVID-19 and have been very successful. Life Care Services has been a good management team for Regency Oaks.A 2021 Update! We have now lived here 3 years. Again, we got out the fine wine glasses and toasted our decision to move to Regency Oaks. During the past 12 months since our last post, staffs response has been extraordinary. No infections! Life Care services and our CEO got us the vaccine in March. 97% of the residents are vaccinated. Now we are back to normal activities. We cannot say enough about how good it is here.

There are many positive reasons, as we move along this maturation process, selecting a CCRC where kindness is the mantra.First of all is the setting. The physical layout of the campus, near the Bay for sunrises, near the Gulf for sunsets. Easy access to main thoroughfares and shopping. Eighty-five feet above sea level with a verdant 40 acre visual experience surrounding our living quarters. Here is where the residents feel the security of well qualified personnel as they exchange views of life experiences so diversified, one would believe this was the consummate learning experience similar to the Forum of antiquity.Of course there is always room for improvement such asInstallation of Solar to offset the rising cost of energy. Also the security of our own energy source if we are subjected to extreme weather or cyber attack. We are assured there are steps underway to satisfy this additional amenity.
