We visited this past Sunday while in Chicago for the weekend - and loved it! Very welcoming and friendly. They helped us find seats right away even though we showed up a few minutes after service had started.The message and worship was powerful.I would highly recommend swinging by even if you are only in town for the weekend!

I went to City Church for a half a year. I tried to make friends there but I found even the ushers stand offish and cliquish. But I kept going and I thought that if I got involved things may change. I have a son who woild fit into their childrens ministry and asked to see their setup. Pastor Joshua told me to get out of the church and never come back--on a Sunday morning in front of everyone. When I questioned why they called the police. Everyone I told about this told me to sue them but I cant sue a church.

This place has great sermons and worship. The reason why the stars are 3 is because I’ve been going there for several months prior to COVID and really liked it. I moved to Chicago few years ago and I was looking for a church. I was getting excited about this one after visiting for some time until one day they had some lunch event and everyone was invited. I thought great I’ll meet some people! I am an extrovert and have no problem with that. Well… I got my food and started walking around to possibly say hi to people and it felt very unwelcoming. Everybody was gathering in circles with people they know which makes sense I get it, so people acknowledged me for a sec and went back to their convos. No one even asked anything, I set alone and started eating my food, pastors went by me, looked at me - no one even bothered to say anything or engage. Maybe checking on people is too much to ask for but somehow I believe especially at church people should be more welcoming. I may give it another try but for now I keep searching.

I was a member of Serve Day Team, every Saturday I drive over an hour to Serve. I wanted to serve God. But I was disappointed when on my 5th week I was told that I cant serve in the Team I was assigned to because someone is joining for the first time & he is a friend of the Serve day leader & he is not familiar with my face. I was not expecting segregation in the house of God.I dont know if race was a factor because I am an African while he is caucasian.In addition, I was told to join a group, which I did. I bought the books recommended, but for reasons best known to the group leader I was never invited again for the virtual class again.I have not been able to make it to serve day, but no one check to see if I was okay.Its difficult to fit into the church already formed group of friends if you dont fit into a certain criteria . I want a church where I can serve God without man made criteria.

Amazing church i definitely felt the presence of God there. I havent been excited about church and God in a very long time but that church touched me . I think God lead me to go to this church last Sunday because my sisters and i supposed to go to our church but i asked them lets find a nearby church instead because our church is a long drive from home. we googled this and bam! i wont be able to tell you how great the place and service is until you see for yourself

Visited today for Palm Sunday service. Was visiting Chicago and I remembered Pastor Kent from when he came a preached at my church for a conference. We felt welcomed, loved the worship, and the message. Great church to experience God!!

I have really enjoyed the services at this church, so I tried to join a life group and have had the most negative experience I’ve ever had trying to get plugged in to a church. Left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome. It has been hard for me to move to a new city by myself and to feel completely rejected by a church I was trying to find community in really makes me feel awful. I tried for about a month to get plugged in with just little to no response from the life group contact and from the leader of the group I was trying to join. I’m disappointed because I really have liked the sermons and the worship and was excited to make this church my home but I’ve since decided to continue searching. I hope this is just a one-off and other people don’t have this same experience.

For two years I looked for a church in Chicago and I’m so happy to have found City Church. It’s welcoming, diverse, people of all ages, and I love the pastors. They talk with passion, and honesty. It just feel genuine. I feel refreshed and uplifted every time I go. They also provide online live service.

The Best Ever. I have known Pastor Kent and Pastor Alli since they were very young adults. I personally blessed them at Houlihans Restaurant. They are both beyond great. They are the GIFT of God and I am honor to have Blessed them with my prophetic miracle power. World Prophet David. I love you City Church Chicago.

Great environment and even better teachings! Love the power and passion that runs deep throughout City Church. Love the many service times and the welcoming and friendly staff. I’ve had a friend invite me years ago and just recently started going! Thank you for instilling the light and enhancing the flame that was eager to spark back up! Awesome Church. Whats really awesome is when I was first invited to go here for a visit. I was given just the address and I knew the address was very familiar and could figure out why till I got here. Turns out I used to visit this same place when I was in the world as a nightclub. God is hilarious. Not only will he change you he will change the places you used to go.

Cant go wrong with been in church on Sunday... This is usually the best party of my week and I look forward to hearing the Word! The crowd is always lively and very friendly. You truly have to visit to see for yourself

I called this church home since I was about 18 and its perfect place for the youth to find christ jesus and grow positive relationships and learn about the city and maybe even go on a mission trip! Absolutely love every bit of City Church Chicago!!

Everyone is friendly. Everyone welcomes you. Love the music and the songs, guys have stunning voices. They do have 3 services on Sunday. The coffee is also there :)

If you dont have cable so are unable to watch John Olivers episode on televangelists.....i highly recommend visiting this place. Trust me you will get the idea

My fiance and I attended City Church for a year and a half. We initially grew to love the many services and Growth Track, but ultimately felt unwelcome and unimportant in the end. We are so disappointed and hurt by a church that stated that they are welcoming and never want anyone to feel alone. After reaching out to pastors and the worship team multiple times, we never received any follow through. We pictured ourselves working with City Kids and completing marriage counseling through the church. However, they dont seem to care about us as much as they seem to care about expanding the church and its popularity. We hope to find a Christian community to grow in elsewhere that will be interested in the talents and passion we have to bring to our Christian family. I hope the team and pastors at City Church learn to be more present with their visitors/fellow Christians.

City Church has changed my life forever. Im so grateful for this local church.

My nephew that had fallen away from the Catholic Church years ago because of the internal struggle of the Vatican and the inappropriate behavior of priests. He became confused and disillusioned. As much as I tried to explain that that was not God and his love it fell on deaf ears.A friend of his introduced him to your church and he has been in love with it ever since and yesterday was baptized!Gos is so good and always on time . Thank you for being a tool in showing him how much God loves him . What a fabulous place♡

Truly a family church!

Love love love this church. Great band. great songs! Great energy in the church. Great pastors (on stage)...(never introduced themselves to us)...and we never got an email from any pastors either besides an automated email when we used to tithe weekly. Signed up for multiple groups...never got a call nor email. But this church has an awesome auditorium for the message and music. Its in the old kaboom night club which is kinda epic. (I partied down there in the early 90s).... but unfortunately...we are moving on to another church. After attending this church for almost a year, We tried to get married here and it took them almost a month to respond to multiple email inquiries and multiple weeks in between emails. and the ministry services here are also very unorganized. They have 20-28 year old kids kinda running things...it seems. So as I began to perform my ministry here, they asked me, a 47 year old doctor, to clean bathroom stalls and move heavy tables and signs while the 20-28 year olds gave us direction. odd. sorry. beyond odd. And frankly not acceptable. A 47 year old doctor should be in charge while 18-28 year olds who should be cleaning bathrooms and moving tables. Just my opinion. Besides, I was a very poor kid with crack heads and alcoholics for parents that became a doctor and business owner. Im your unicorn mentor. I have the actual unicorn testimony. Use my talents better! :-) I Still love this church though...perfect for young people. Young people will not be unsatisfied. So Go to this church!! Young people will love it!! Old people might too if you are just going for a weekly message but if you are older and want to be involved and ministry the lack of organization and recognition of age and wisdom might be difficult for older folks to tolerate. Other than that Great Vibes!! Everyone please Get to know Jesus better!! Jesus saves and Jesus loves and this church will love you and lift up your spirits. Go to church! Go to this church. if you are older, Your experience might be better than mine! Give them a try!! Give Jesus a try!! What have you got to lose?

Wow! The most moving service in all of Chicago! Always gritty, moving, and uplifting sermons! Wish it was easier to get connected to small groups though!

Id honestly give fewer stars, but it feels wrong - because its a church and if it gives people comfort, an avenue to spiritual fulfillment and good deeds - hard to fault. And Im sure there are many kind and well intentioned people who attend. They might do some good in the community - I dont know. Something just doesnt sit right with me here. I attended twice and felt the same (like I wanted to leave) - so I did some research. I just think Jesus might be flipping some tables here. My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. But, if you want to see a Christian concert - they have some talented people and what sounds like a pricey and way too loud sound system for the size of the venue. Thats not what Im looking for - so the search continues....

Pastor Kent Munsey is one of the most real pastors Ive ever been blessed to hear. He wears his humility like a magnificent coat, and his love for the Lord and the Lords people is without question. His wife, Pastor Alli Munsey - is not at all what I expected. She is beautiful on the outside and even more beautiful within. She is truly a great example of living the word. I love City Church Chicago, not only because of the amazing leadership team, but the people... I have never been more blessed to be among those who come together for the simple act of praising the Lord. This is the only church I go to in Chicago - maybe its because I feel Gods presence each time I visit, and maybe I just garner strength being surrounded by those that really love the Lord.If youre looking for a place that wants you, regardless of who you are or what you have (or dont have) to offer, this is it. This is a beautiful house of God.

All are welcome to the City Church Chicago. The services take place in an old night club, so it looks pretty trendy. This church has an extensive pastoral team that each takes a slightly different theological point of view, so you have a diversity of biblical teachings. The lead pastors are Pastor Kent Munsey and his wife Pastor Ali Munsey. They also bring in pastors from around the world such as Christine Caine, Louie Giglio, and Levi Lusko and more to speak at some services including revival nights on some Wednesdays. It is a member of the Hillsong Family of churches so they have spiritual and legal guidance from there. They offer different counseling services such as premarital counseling, spiritual counseling, etc. The music is modern, Hillsong style. They have no formal membership, but have a Growth Track where you learn about the church and develop a deeper sense of community with the church. This church has a wide range of volunteer partnerships around Chicago ranging from elementary schools, homeless shelters, and more. There are a lot of young people in the church. The services are Sundays at 8:30am, 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, and 5:00pm. They have childrens centers for different age groups that children can go during the services.

Shame on you!Not to mention idolizing gangster rap lyrics. Do you really not know how little respect and love that shows. How disappointing.
