Amazing labor and delivery experience. Every resident, doctor, nurse, etc. was professional but also very caring, attentive, and knowledgeable. I felt my family and I were well taken care of and that we were in the best hands in Chicago from beginning to end of our stay. They are focused on giving you the best outcomes you can possibly have and works hard to also accommodate your birth plan preferences. Thank you Dr. Lui and Nurse Lori for the great support.

I just delivered my baby at Prentice a few days ago and it was an absolutely perfect experience from start to finish. My labor and delivery nurse Jane was so amazing and guided me perfectly through everything. All of the postpartum unit nurses and staff were so caring. Krystle the lactation consultant was fantastic and got my baby nursing. I wouldn’t change a thing about the care my baby and I received!

Should be in the nagative....Had intense headaches, blurry vision, unstable BP, dizziness, protein in urine, etc. All classic tales of preclameclcia. My doctor reassured me that my issues would be resolved or she would induce me. She also assured me she would be there when I got to triage. Well My doctor never showed up once. Three days I spent there trying to get these issues resolved but the doctor on call decided I didnt have preclamcia just hypertension. His fix of this was to give me Oxycotion for the headaches. Which I was okay with at first until I realized that was his only plan. Sorry I dont want a new born addicted to opiates. I left with left with the same issues I came with just now worse. Still havent heard back from my doctor who promised she would take care of it. And how would oxycodone fix the blood pressure, the lightheaded, the dizziness, the protein in the urine, etc... it wasnt until I was leaving against their orders (which I was going to be discharged that day anyway) that the doctor in charge now came and had me sign a piece of paper stating that I knew I could die, have a stroke, or seizure since I had preeclampsia.... sadly they didnt work nor communicate as a team, and I paid the consequences.

I had a tubal ligation done here, and during the morning I spent at the hospital, I swear, every doctor, nurse, tech, and cleaner that came into my vicinity seemed truly happy to be there. Choruses of laughter from the nurses station is a really good thing to hear, you get the best work done by people who love their jobs. Ive never had the pleasure of rating a hospital 5 stars, but here we go!

This past Wednesday, April 28 of 2021. I had received the best care by dr waters and her whole team. I went in with my mind set on getting my tubal ligation done. Not knowing what I was going to feel like after. I must say the staff was right on point with the word for word walk through of what steps they where going to take and what my recovery was going to look like. I am so glade dr waters and her staff was right on. Thank you so much for the wonderful care while I was in the hospital and also the calls after I highly recommend Dr. Waters entire team. The best thank you

My wife and I just delivered our baby girl here and everything has been wonderful. All of the nurses are extremely kind. They not only met our needs, but they anticipated what we needed and provided excellent service. They really cared and kept us from panicking when things weren’t going to plan. A huge shout out to Alexa, Elisa, Julia, and the two Maggies (I’m sorry if we missed anyone). Maggie in Labor/Delivery made the best bow for our little one and Maggie in Postpartum took care of everything we needed while we rested. The doctors, midwives, and anesthesiologists were also rockstars. They were thorough and very transparent and informative from start to finish. Everyone was incredibly professional during our stay. A huge thank you to Dr. Auger for bringing us home after a close to 24 hour labor. My only areas of improvement are very small ones. The hospital provides dry wipes in the postpartum recovery room for changing the baby. Upgrading to wet wipes would be a game changer. It was nothing to go and run a little water on them as there are two sinks in the room, the the wet ones would’ve made it more convenient. My only other suggestion would be to have reclining chairs in every room for the support person.Other than those small areas, everything was perfect. Thank you all for your help. I would rate this place 10 stars if I could!

Overall our experience was great. The nurses/doctors/specialists and other medical staff were fantastic the whole time. We had some hiccups during labor and everyone that helped with our son was very informative and helpful during stressful situations and decisions. The only reason I’m not giving this a 5/5 is because of the extremely rude people working at the front desk/information desk and security desk. They were snappy with me every time I went to get my wife something to eat, even though I had the correct pass to go and leave. I really think you need to train the staff that is the “face” of this hospital. People that come here are all dealing with different situations, whether it’s happy, sad, scary, stressful situations. They need to be more pleasant and speak up so you can hear them. Don’t act like you are bothering them every time they need to assist someone.

As sad as it is, I totally understand when they don’t let father/partner attend 20th week’s ultrasound due to increased safety risk. But when they don’t allow FaceTime, so I can participate/experience my first 20th week full ultrasound. That’s just being inflexible to the current situation and not acceptable. I know friend after friend who has done this even under Northweatern umbrella. This is unacceptable and inexcusable. I am sitting in the lobby fuming. I wish I knew before hand we would go somewhere else.

My husband has cancer, I wore an n95 to one of my appointments. I was told to remove my protective mask to wear one of their “hospital required” masks. As we all know those are not as safe as an n95. I was not even allowed to wear mine along with theirs. Are you really trying to keep people safe?

I was really satisfied with my experience at this hospital. Check in was easy and fast. The nurses are great and helped me out with newborn care and latching. The labor nurses are exceptional and are very patient. They help you with your first toileting session, which can be difficult after pushing out a baby. They ask if you want an epidural and arrange everything for you.Theres an option to leave your baby at the nursery at night so you can rest after a tiring day of labor. Theres a menu of good food, and thats pretty important to get your strength back up. There was great communication between the nurses and patients. Test results are relayed efficiently. Lactation consultants are available, as well as use of hospital grade pumps. The staff will also assist you in hand expression of colostrum if you are having difficulty feeding your baby. Early skin to skin contact, rooming in, and early breastfeeding are all encouraged, following pediatric recommendations. Everything you need for recovery and newborn care is given: ice packs, disposable underwear, maxi pads, peri bottle, etc. Discharge was also a breeze.I just wish theres more signs coming from the parking lot on where the triage is. We didnt have a hospital tour due to COVID (all were canceled!). Other than that, I feel like the hospital has world class service.

If there was a 0 star review, that would be my rate for this hospital. I haven’t even delivered here (yet) but my experience here has been a roller coaster of bad. I am a 19 yo soon to be mother and the staff treat me like I know nothing about pregnancy, or anything like it. I have been through hell and back so far and I’ve had problems the whole way. At first, the staff seemed kind, but I was soon to figure out that they don’t really care. The first visit I had, All the nurses were rude and acted like just because I’m 19 I don’t know what the heck a baby is or pregnancy, or anything of the sort. They treated me like a child and made me feel like I was stupid. The second visit was worse. I went in doubled over in pain and the front desk staff said a nurse would be with me shortly. (I had even called 30 min ahead of time to let them know I was coming, I called my Doctor.) They made me wait for 20 min in the waiting room and finally called me back. One lady was just sitting in the waiting room; I assume she worked for them as she had a RN badge, and she was just chilling reading a magazine. I was writhing in pain and she had the audacity to tell me that it will get worse. (???) I finally got into my room and they made me wait almost 12 hours to tell me they couldn’t find out why I was in pain, in the mean time they sedated me with Narcotics. They also straight Cathed me, because peeing in a cup would be too easy. They kept me there for so long, and no answer to the pain. They even prescribed me strong antibiotics, which they didn’t even know would work, and sent me home. They said “just take them, and if you need them we will find out in a few days if they are treating what we think you have, and if you don’t have it stop taking them” Who does that? Who prescribes someone (a pregnant someone) strong antibiotics, if they don’t even know if it will work for sure??? On an end note, I am not looking forward to delivering my baby here, if this is how I will be treated.

A patients first encounter when entering a building in most cases is the front desk/information desk. The people in these positions to me are the faces of the organization. They are the people who give patients their first impression. Based on my encounter today with Gloria. H., my experience was all but pleasant.Normally, when I come for my annual mammogram, I bring my daughters and fiancee for support. I normally am greeted by a pleasant person at the information desk who will ask what floor I am going to and will distribute the visitor passes. Right from the start, Glorias tone was nasty and unprofessional. Instead of her explaining in a professional way why my family were no longer allowed to accompany me, she says very rudely, all of yall cant go! I tried to explain that every year they usually come with me and wait in the waiting area upstairs. She then replies with saying, you know what im going to call downstairs! At this point, I was confused because I have never encountered anyone at a front desk so unprofessional. While on the phone with whoever she called, Gloria looks at me in a mean way and said, see thats what I thought, yall all cant go upstairs! I then said to her it was ok no problem, all I asked was a question. She never once explained that it was due to the new COVID-19 changes. My strongest suggestion to the company is to not have people at the front desk who do not possess people skills. Having great customer service skills is a must in these types of positions. People are coming to the hospital to see sick loved ones. Some are coming themselves to be seen. You never know what one may be going through as a patient. One thing that is not needed is to greeted by the most insincere person right when you walk through the door. This does not aid or assist when a patient is already scared to death to go to the hospital. From some of the feedback I have read, there seems to be an ongoing issue with the front desk staff anyway. This is terrible. I will definitely not be coming back. I have been coming to NWMH for my annual mammograms for almost 15 years. Not anymore.I would like to add that when I finally went upstairs to the Lynn Sage area, I was greeted by Trina who registered me. She was very pleasant and professional. I also would like to say that Lillian, the young lady who completed the mammogram, was and has always been so sweet, kind and pleasant. People like Trina and Lillian are who you should have at the front desks downstairs.

I have to say, WONDERFUL from start to finish. This is a top notch facility with friendly and helpful people. I had a mammogram and ultrasound, went early morning, everything was completed by 10:00am with an appointment that started at 7:30am. The wait times were minimal. The Mammogram was difficult because I had some pain issues but the person handling the test, was SWEET, professional and considerate. The Ultrasound tech took her time, explained what was happening, was very thorough and considerate. Radiologist was very knowledgeable and took the extra time to examine something I was concerned about that was NOT in the breast area. The previous negative reviews on here are baffling and really had me worried FOR NOTHING. If you have chosen this facility, it carries the reputation of Northwestern for a reason, its excellent dont hesitate to go here. Im rather annoyed by how bad those reviews were and thats why Im posting.

I had my second baby here in October of 2019 and it was the most pain free experience ever, literally! We had our first at a hospital up in the northern suburbs (Northshore Evanston) and the experience was much less than acceptable; the nurses were absolutely rude, the food was horrible, and I had an epidural and could feel the pressure of my daughter crowning (TMI, sorry!) I told the nurse and doctor I needed to push... they had me wait 10 mins before doing so. Recovery was even worse. So when we found out we were having our next baby, I made sure to chose a hospital was I knew would take care of me. I didnt care if it took 20-30 mins to get there from home, I was going to have my baby at Prentice. And thank God I did because it was the most beautiful and stress free experience I have ever had. The nurses were absolutely amazing, super sweet and caring. My midwife delivered my son and she was so... confident in herself it was amazing! Literally the only downside to having our baby here was parking fees. But totally worth it! I will definitely be coming back to have our next babies at Prentice!

This review is regarding our pregnancy, delivery, and immediate postpartum care at Prentice Women’s Hospital.During pregnancy, we went to triage twice and were treated quickly, our concerns addressed, our physicians communicated with, and everything was done appropriately and efficiently. Elvia was a specifically good nurse. All care in triage was great. In the postpartum time, the two days after delivery, the care and especially patient education was so great. Val was our nurse most of the time, and her her the whole team provided prompt care, answered all questions, and provided such great education that we as first time parents needed. While nurses are trained in lactation advice, lactation consultants are available upon request and were so helpful. The view and food was also unreal for a hospital especially. I still unintentionally refer to it as a hotel. Finally, the actual labor and delivery process was truly unbelievable. All the nurses, staff, residents the we had were professional and respectful of our choices and desires and experience. My wife had premature rupture of membranes, and had to get Pitocin due to this and the timing. She chose no epidural and there was no pressure whatsoever to do otherwise. All medical aspects, but also personal and emotional aspects were addressed and respected perfectly. We had a doula, and the staff worked wonderfully with her. Liz was our nurse during the entire process and we were SO happy she was able to be present for the birth. She was truly UNREAL and such an amazing person, and amazing at her job. While applying monitors and troubleshooting as needed, she respected my wife’s contractions and pain, and her need for a shower, bath, change in positions at any time. She was truly a huge part of our experience. Our baby had swallowed meconium, had a nuchal cord, and they calmly addressed all of this and our baby girl was perfect. After delivery, the day nurse (I can’t remember her name, unfortunately) was amazing as well. She patiently cleaned my wife up of all the blood, went through self-care tips, and was truly wonderful with her.I cannot imagine a more intense experience, and were so happy to have had a truly respectful, kind, attentive staff that provided great medical care but also addressed the personal aspects of this experience.

My mother was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. So, she was a patient on one of the oncology floors. The RN & PCT teams are wonderful. They attended to our mother with care, but also cared for the emotional and physical needs of the family.NOTE: However, the last two weeks of mothers care was very unpleasant. Our problem was with the doctors. Not the nurses. The doctors the final two weeks, were uncaring and inconsistent with information. The communication was awful. I made several inquiries and complaints concerning the three doctors involved. Perhaps the hospital can assist them with improving their communication skills and how to properly execute operations to avoid frustrating the patient and the patients family.
