My experience with FNCU was incredibly frustrating. I tried to open a new account upon moving to Chicago. Even after providing evidence of purchasing a home in Chicago and providing multiple other pieces showing Chicago residency I still faced significant difficulty in opening an account. After 5 days of back and forth I still couldn’t get satisfactory help. I have always used credit unions and have never had this many issues in opening an account. I will take my business elsewhere and would recommend others do that same.

Patrick why would you call me for no reason in the morning just to reject my application later on. He even tried to boast saying they’ll give me a lower interest rate. Complete waste of time. How is one year worth a credit history insufficient? I’ll just use my bank.Also thanks for causing my score to dip, jerks.

For some reason, even though I mail my car payments on time, they take a week or more to show up at this Chicago location. Michael could not wait for my check to show up (even though I told him it was mailed a week ago), so I had to pay over the phone and then pay $20 for my bank to stop my check. Sure enough, my original check showed up and I am out $20 due to their impatience that was beyond my control. Never again. They can wait.

I have used FNCU and have always been very pleased with the service and costs for loan products. This week I have been working with Michael Arturi over the phone and email to help me pay off and transfer title on a car I am selling that they hold the note on, it was a somewhat complex process to do for me so I depended on Michael and his follow up was excellent and he dug for the I formation and process steps on my behalf which has been a huge help. FNCU has been a great credit union that I am very happy with.

Just for this branch. I always call and end up talking to the agents here and they always seem annoyed that you called. Evanston and the Northwestern branches are always friendly and welcoming.

I was looking for an auto loan. I just happened to find First Northern online . I found Belinda and she was so awesome! She guided me through the process so professionally and with such a beautiful soul. She was so helpful and I appreciate that very much. The percentage was good and a lot lower than my jobs credit union would offer. Thank you so much Belinda. You made my dream come true...

This place is something else. never have I been so insulted and treated with such horrible customer service in my entire life and I only have just refinanced my auto loan with this place a week ago their website is so backwards and confusing that it’s hard to figure out where you can properly make a payment plus they force a savings account onto you so when you start asking questions about it ( being a new member and all ) you either get short answers or condescending ones. My account rep. Took an entire day to figure out that I was sending my auto payment information to the wrong fax number and when she finally set it up she didn’t email me back to let me know it was complete and I was all set. I had to ask her twice on the following day to finally get a “yes” from her and when I said something against her customer service skills she threw me this snotty attitude. I hate RATE GENIUS for refinancing me to this company I may have been paying higher rates on my original loan but at least I didn’t have to go through the stress and bs this place is already putting me through.

Their customer agents have terrible nasty attitudes. Their tone always sounds like they’re annoyed. Like ma’am, this is my money, my account I should be the one mad if I have an issue. They’re so dry and cut you off. I will be closing my account at FNCU.

This review applies to my interaction with First Northern in general, not to any specific branch. I am rating one star due to a recent negative experience. I had just paid off my auto loan called to requested the vehicle title. I spoke with Patty V of the lending department, who had a bad attitude. She checked the records and told me that the title would be put in the mail the next day.Two weeks later, I still hadnt received the title, so I called back for a status update. I was told that there was a stack of titles that needed to go out and that it would be sent out by the end of the week. Another week passes and I still didnt receive the title, and I was moving to a new apartment as my lease was up. I call back again, and now Im told that the title had been sent out on the day that I had called to request the title in the first place! They tried to blame it on the fact that I had changed my address in the online system, but I hadnt done so until 2 weeks after the date that they claim to have sent it. I looked up the cost to obtain a replacement from the Illinois Secretary of State, and it is $95. The representative refused to do anything to mitigate the cost, despite this being 100% their screw-up. I asked them whether they would consider using some sort of mail with tracking for sending out such important documents with some sort of tracking. The response the Secretary of State sends them out in the regular mail too. That should be all that you need to know about the state of customer service at First Northern. I will be sure to take my business elsewhere for my future banking needs. Think twice about dealing with people who lose vehicle titles and refuse to even apologize to customers for doing so.

Don’t even bother with this Credit Union (not just this branch). I ordered a replacement debit card on January 22. As of February 23, I STILL have not received it. This is not the first time something like this has happened. Take your business to another place.

Extremely rude. The rep James Church was upset that I did not provide him with personal information quick enough so he decided to make a rude comment and hang up. I was asking to see if a fax could be sent and his response SHOULD HAVE BEEN no problem but do you mind if I verify some information first. Thats how the customer service process works. Instead he said why should I have to ask you for your information and then hung up. He was being a jerk and unprofessional. I never receive good customer service at this place, I hate calling here.

Horrible customer service and so many hidden fees. I was a loyal, good paying customer but no longer! And of course, they stuck it to me one last time before I left. Go figure. What a parting gift...

I have never written a review online however I was that heated up about my experience today. I sprinted across town to get to this credit union and got there at exactly 4:30.. clearly panting and tired, the guy working said were closed. First of all, I got there at exactly 4:30 on a Tuesday, shouldnt they have just been closing? What unfortunate customer service!!! Theyre in the service industry and had zero compassion nor wanted to listen to anything I had to say. I will never go back! Ever. Go to Credit Union One on Randolph, the lady was very friendly and was also surprised and disgusted with what had just happened.

This credit union doesn’t accept Documents from state of Illinois or irs documents but don’t worry they will do hard inquiries on your credit scoreAnd after that they just say sorry we can’t proceed with your app

NOTE: I see poor reviews. I personally only use them for withdrawals and deposits really. Not loans or more in-depth transactions FYI.Less accessible than big banks such as Citibank since you have to take the elevator but overall, they have a friendly staff and no more than one person in line about 90% of the time that Ive been there.
