BEAUTIFUL & VERY CLEAN PLACE! I filled out paperwork and they took me back right away. I have been going to Modern Dental since moving to Chicago - a little over a year now. My partner and I both had cleaning appointments on Saturday. We were coming from Hyde Park and left an hour and half before our appointment since it was pouring rain and we wanted to make sure we made it to Wicker Park on time . Well, we hit traffic and I called the front desk to let the lady know we would be a few mins late and she said they had a grace period and we were fine. We arrived 14 mins late and my partner went in first and let the lady at the front desk know that we were happy to just have once of us seen as we understood that us being late might have thrown off their schedule etc. The front desk person was rude and unaccommodating and because we were running behind almost told him when he asked that he could not use their bathroom before his appointment but since he was already walking towards it she bit her tongue. I was waiting in the car for my appointment since they only allow one patient at a time so I didn’t realize they had agreed to only see one of us. I walked it at my scheduled time and could already tell by the look she gave me and the attitude she had this wasn’t going to go well. I let her know I was there for my appointment and she said my partner had agreed for them to just see one of us because of us being late. Mind you, we were there for teeth cleaning only, no major dental work and I wasn’t even having x-rays done being that I’m 6 months pregnant. I let her know that was totally fine and I would be happy to reschedule and she said that I will be charged a $49/fee to do so. I understand this a business and I understand the value of time as I am a professional myself but this is no way to treat a customer who was late due to pouring rain and traffic who had the courtesy to call and let the the front desk know our situation. Businesses who have compassion and a little grace tend to do a lot better than those that enforce a policy no matter the circumstance. I don’t think $49 fee is worth losing 2 loyal customers over especially since we were trying to meet her halfway in being flexible etc. The owner and the head receptionist weren’t there being that this was on a Saturday and I do feel like it would have been handled differently if they had been.

I’ve been coming here for a few years now and love it. Everyone is always so friendly and nice. Very easy to schedule appointments and they are really good about reminding me when my next cleaning is due. They are always on time. I never have to wait more than a few minutes when I come in for an appointment. The office is very clean and they’ve been really good about covid precautions.

During Covid last year I had an awful toothache that wouldn’t let me sleep when my regular dentist office closed. I looked up Modern Dental on Division and have not gone back to my regular dentist. They took care of my pain when I needed immediate relief the most and now have an active dental plan for my teeth. I had previously been there for an emergency which they were able to help me with. This time I was there for a cleaning and check up. The office is very nice and the dentist and hygienist were great. I was referred by a friend and have since referred others.

I came in to have a molar extracted. I was very nervous about the experience going in. I appreciated that the dentist gave me a real expectation for how much of a challenge my tooth (failed root canal) might present - he managed my expectations - but in the end, he skillfully had it extracted in under ten minutes, and I was out of there! It was a much less scary experience than I had anticipated, thanks to their expertise.

Charged cancel fee during pandemic height last year with Chicago opening and closing as I wasnt comfortable with my appointment. Time to update insurance to a new place and dentist. Take my easy service and bi-yearly service to someone else. Not really sure why they would continue this charge during this time for their patients who question dental service in a covid pandemic to lower the spread. Everyone was nice but just looking for a money grab isnt very cool to your patients. Even joked about it and everyone laughed about it too. Sad.

I have never experienced pain during a cleaning or exam. The dentist I saw pulled so hard on my tooth it felt like she was pulling it out. I’d prefer to never see her again. This was my first negative experience with a dentist at your clinic.

I always look forward to coming here every 6 months for my cleaning. The hygienists are great - my favorite is Britney. She is very thorough with the cleaning, and even tells me where i could improve with my brushing. Shes also enjoyable to talk to!

Modern dental is a decent choice if all you need is cleaning covered by dental insurance. It is clean with flexible hours. However, its an assembly line operation here with literally 45 second face time with the dentist. You do not get personalized attention or deeper thought into your care. I had excellent dental care prior, and I have found better places after.

The first time in my life that I haven’t minded going to the dentist. In fact it’s barely an inconvenience. The team makes me feel comfortable and taken care of. Dr. P is friendly and great at his work. I could not recommend this place enough.

Ive been going to Modern Dental on Division for about 7 years now for regular cleanings and minor work, but recently I opted to replace several veneers that Ive had for 15+ years. I couldnt have been more pleased with the services of Dr. Palella and the rest of the Modern Dental staff. No one loves going to the dentist, but they did an amazing job and made me feel very comfortable during the procedure. I was extremely happy that I opted to do the replacement and my new teeth look great. I would highly recommend them for veneers or crowns if needed.

This dentist office was fine. Super nice and clean looking for sure. Staff was friendly. This was my first time at this location as I have recently changed insurance companies. But I agree with a previous reviewer that they did not have the best safety precautions (writing during COVID). The dentist I saw literally was not wearing a mask over his nose OR mouth when he talked to me and looked in my mouth and made me extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. He was not the only one working at the office that wore a mask incorrectly. I will be looking for another dentist that makes me feel safer.

I’ve visited to Dr. Palella to have 3 wisdom and 2 molars removed within a 2-month span and I’m beyond pleased with his work. I currently don’t have insurance so everything was paid out of pocket and the service was worth every penny. The healing process was SEAMLESS and I look forward to getting my implants performed by him in the future!

Went in to schedule an emergency wisdom tooth removal, and they were able to squeeze me.in the same day. Doctor Phil was awesome, quick and painless procedure. I was in and out in 30 minutes, and It wasnt expensive. Highly recommend, and I will definitely be going to Modern Dental from now on!

I love my dentist office, but they need to ramp up the safety precautions right now. I went to the dentist because anyone I talked to who had gone said that dentists are wearing splash shields + masks + protective suits, and that hygienists are too. At this office, they were only wearing masks and it did make me uneasy. Of all the types of interactions, this one seems so risky and all precautions should be taken to ensure people are safe (including the safety of the staff at the office). In real life, they always get 5 stars. In COVID times, I was thrown off.

Needed a bunch of work done on my teeth, during my initial consultation, Dr. Palella discussed what needed to be repaired/fixed showing me pics on a big screen in front of me and a live camera in my mouth showing me everything. I was hesitant to go in for a cleaning with recent spikes in COVID cases, however Modern Dental made me feel at ease with the safety precautions they are taking. I have been going there for about 4 years now and am thankful for their diligence and efficiency.

I was a client of Dr. P’s when I lived in the city. I was always happy with his knowledge and the end results of his work. I moved to the suburbs a couple years ago and had not established a regular dentist in the area. When I needed major dental work in 2019, I ended up having a traumatic experience with a negligent practice in the area. I decided to go back to Dr. Palella at Modern Dental in the city because I trusted him. I will not go anywhere else moving forward. I commuted 4 times in a month to fix the mess the suburban practice started. Not only is Dr. P a talented dentist, I greatly appreciate the engaging authenticity he shows in his interactions with his patients. The entire staff at Modern Dental are warm, professional and demonstrated great care for their patients. Thank you so much for a great experience all around. You all are truly THE BEST!

I absolutely love Dr. Amy! I brought my husband to the office amazing experience. She was patient, humble and just over all nice.. This made me want to book an appointment for myself in which I did. The staff is the best but the Dr. that I had said very little to me mainly talking to the dental assistant. ( I do not even remember the Drs name). Any who I had mention something about my root canal and all she said was no. I literally saw her for less than 5 minutes. Other than that I felt like the Dental Assistant that brought me in, cleaned my mouth and had my appointment with was the DR. and did a fantastic job! Other than that I love this place very much!!

Everyone at this office is so nice and accommodating, I went in for a toothache and that same day I had my cleaning done and a got x-rays. They are open later in the day, so I didnt have to take off of work. Overall I had a great experience!

I went here for 5 years but one day they told me I have cavity and need it to get filled. I wanted to confirm with the owner dentist a couple times and he never got back to me. So I then got a second opinion and it turns out I don’t have cavity. Be careful!

Hands down the best dental office Ive ever gone to. The place is extremely clean and everyone is so friendly. Im not one to write reviews but I have been to a couple dental offices that are so unprofessional and all it seems is they want to rush you out of there and take your money. Not here. Ive been coming for over 3 years now and Dr Palella and staff are very informative and helpful through every exam, cleaning and filling Ive ever had. They have definitely made my trips to the dentist enjoyable.

If you live a modern life then this place is NOT for you. Dani Doll is super bummed because she really enjoyed this dentist practice the staff appeared to be friendly. She recently had dental work done and was satisfied with the level of care and ready to become a life long patient. They are very unforgiving and non accommodating if life happens and you need to change an appointment. Any place that is willing to toss away a loyal client due to a $49 cancellation/appointment change fee is no place we’d trust with the health of our precious mouths.

Called to make and appointment for my 91 years old mother, who broke a tooth! Yes she has teeth! First they told me no appointments this weekend, then none for the next month, then none no matter what day or time!!! Then she said “typically they do t take old patients “ - no other recommendation or apology!!! Really! What should we do / forget about our elder parents???!!! Is this a real doctor ? So so disappointed!!! And saddened! Should you continue going to them? I guess if you are going go otherwise as you get older forget about it!

I went to another dental office on the near north side and left feeling like I had just visited a used car show room. I decided to give MDD a try and was provided a comprehensive exam, a detailed care plan, and competitive pricing.After my first visit I knew this was the spot for me. Dr Paella and his team are thoughtful, informative, and overall wonderful. Ive had minor work (cavities) to major work (extraction, root canal, & bridge) done at MDD and always felt cared for. My husband and I have been coming here for quite some time and we absolutely love this place! Its always clean, the staff is super friendly and they can always get us in for an appointment around our schedule. Dr. Palella is incredible. Each time I come in, the cleanings are fast, no wait times and they have newest technology. Even the cavity that needed to be filled was done quickly, painlessly and you couldnt even tell there was cavity to begin with.

Dr Silva explained everything she was doing and what I needed. Recommended a filling instead of a root canal. Very happy with the result.

I have not been to the dentist in years, but Modern Dental has made this so convenient and easy for me. They have a wide range of availability and can be very flexible. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes from my appointment time to be called back into the private appointment rooms and find the hygienists and dentist are very thorough in both explaining and executing any service. The atmosphere is very clean and up to date (as the name indicates) which is certainly something I look for in my dentist. I am very satisfied with Modern Dental.

He always talks me through whats going on, gets the job done, answers any questions I have...just instills in me a tons of confidence in his work and makes me feel very comfortable with the array of sometimes painful, awful procedures Ive had to have done. He and his team at the front desk are also always aware of the cost of involved dental treatment plans and always talk me through where I am with my available insurance benefits, what is a priority to do now, and what can wait till I get my funds in order. Its a nice dental office. What makes it modern, there is monitor that you can view your xrays or pictures and videos of your teeth if something is wrong or right. And you can watch TV on the same monitor when waiting. Definitely the best dentist experience I have ever had.

I was nervous when I walked in to Modern Dental because this was my first time away from my family dentist (Ive been going there since I was 2) and I didnt know what to expect. The entire staff at Modern Dental put me completely at ease. Brittany, my hygienist, gave me one of the best cleanings I have ever had! She was extremely professional, nice, gentle, and even kept cracking jokes throughout the entire time, she actually made the appointment quite fun...which I know is weird to say about a dentist visit. What I thought was really cool was that she explained what she was doing the entire time and kept checking in with me to see how I was doing and feeling (greatly appreciated). This was a fantastic first visit!

Arrived for a teeth cleaning and was in quickly and out in what seemed liked no time! Very pleasant experience. And no problems with a crown they put in for me last fall--in fact, it cleared up a lot of constant hot/cold sensitivity I had been experiencing before the crown. Im happy!

The doctors, the staff, and the facilities were ALL a pleasure and everyone cared about your dental issues.
