Been here once and was thankful for their huge parking lots! After getting a boot on my car for having parked in an unauthorized area, it was a relief for the Irish American Heritage Center to have their own parking lot! The restrooms were clean, the community who attended the event was respectful, and is large enough to hold several events at once.

Went here for a dance event. The fourth floor ballroom was very spacious and the live jazz band sounded pretty good so the acoustics seem acceptable. The bar was cash only but prices werent bad. The elevator was very spacious. The 3rd floor tended to get humid and stuffy though, granted with a lot of people packed into it.

Fantastic place with lovely people working there. Im English but my familys Irish so it has plenty of home comforts there in the shop like black and white pudding, bacon, sausages and brown sauce, club orange, lucozade etc. The lady there also bakes her own soda bread and scones. The pubs closed at the moment as far as I can tell but the lady told me theyre still doing outdoor films in the car park.

I’m giving it two stars for the great venue and very friendly bar staff. The problem I have with the place—My wife and I had our wedding here almost a year ago. We booked 18 months in advance. Since the day of booking our wedding at this great venue, we had numerous meetings with staff members who relayed different information to us on when we could get in to set up. What was almost the final straw was when we were informed we could only get in four hours before the ceremony. Thankfully a meeting that included the executive director helped us get in the morning of. On the day of the wedding my wife was made to pay $175 to turn the key of the ceremony room (we did get reimbursed this following an email exchange after the wedding). With 1 hour left on our reception room booking, bus boys began pouring drinks into plastic glasses without asking or informing guests- not sure if this is regular practice but seemed odd.As someone who has moved from Ireland to Chicago, it’s a venue I was excited to show off to guests from both home and here, but this situation completely soured our experience, and unfortunately we have not been back since having regularly attended functions and festivals prior to the wedding. All the negatives being said, the bar is fantastic and the venue on the whole is great, I just wished for a better more efficient front office experience .

We stopped here for Open House Chicago and I loved it! There were authors there speaking about their books. The lady in the museum was so informative and helpful. I learned about handwoven race and Mother Jones. We bought a piece of chocolate cake infused with Guinness and Whiskey. All the volunteers were warm and friendly and impassioned. We also enjoyed the young adults playing the violin. We wanted to order a corned beef but they werent ready yet. The bartender was the only person who seemed like she was having a bad day...I hope her day got better 😁Thank you,Captain Save A Home

The festivals are brilliant. From the St. Patrick’s Day party to the Irish fest in the summer is one of Chicagos best summer activities. They also have one of the most extensive Irish libraries and a genealogy department. There’s a cute gift store with wonderful Irish stuff and imported food and drink. The Fifth Province Pub has a cozy fireplace where you can sit and enjoy a pint while listening to a live band and they have a large bar. It’s a grand time.

The most amazing thing about the Heritage Center is that volunteer professionals from all over the Irish community transformed this former school building into a beautiful place. You can feel the love and dedication. Fantastic traditional music and dance, including set dance lessons on Tuesday nights at 7:30 and weekly Friday dances. Its a wonderful place to experience real Irish culture.

Had a really fun time at their Painting and a Pint class. You paid $50 and received all the art materials and a beer. They were also doing dance lessons and various other activities. It is an old Chicago Public School, so the place is huge with ample parking. Staff there were really friendly and the bar area was up to date and well kept. Definitely will be returning for other events.

What a gem! Beautiful establishment with really lovely party rooms and halls. Ive attended two parties here--one I a huge hall and another in a large room. The management was easy to work with and were able to meet our groups needs. They provided soda and ice. We had food catered by an external vendor. The hall is really lovely with great lighting. Lots of free parking in their lot.

My husband and I went to the St Patricks Day Festival that the museum was hosting and it was a complete disaster from start to finish. We paid $30 for the admission and there seemed to be no organization to the event. We tried buying tickets for food but were told we couldnt buy tickets there. We were told this at two different ticket tables. Finally we asked someone at the Volunteer Table and they said that the tables we had gone to previously were the ticket booths for drinks AND food and that the tickets were for both. We were so upset because we spent close to an hour weaving ourselves around the building to find food. Even if I was mistaken by saying food tickets, the volunteers at the tables should have told us that the tickets they were selling were for drinks and food. The whole event was a disaster and we felt like we were denied service. It was an awful experience and definitely will not be back. I did file a complaint with the director of the event, however I felt the need to inform others because we felt this issue was not appropriately addressed.

Attended my cousins weeding here, to my knowledge the only thing that was offered was the space which is the only reason it got 2 stars. Their was no severs or catering available, all had to be catered in as well as the silver wear and plates. Nothing was really offered and I thought it was an extreme inconvenience. I have no idea why the bride picked this venue to be honest. Was nothing really special.

We are not Irish but love to come here regularly for events. During Lent they have a Friday fish fry. On Fridays and weekends there is a pub in there where you can have a drink and often listen to live music or see Irish dancers. They also have a library and often hold art exhibit in there gallery. If you havent yet, check the place out. Look on there website, they have a calendar of the events going on and you can decide which ones sound good to you.

I ADORE this place. Its as though youve been transported to a magical land. Everyone is in a good mood. Everyone knows the words to songs or repeats the chorus at the lead singers coaching. Totally upbeat. There wasnt a bad song throughout the day. A few were sad but even then the melodies were mystical. EVERYONE IS POLITE AND HELPFUL. The men were all courteous( bless their moms hearts). The children were well behaved and not in the least bit cranky. The Irish dancers were phenomenal as always (bless their parents for paying for their dance lessons). They were better than Riverdance. Great for families, great for singles, great for couples, great for any age. The vendors were knowledgeable as were the ladies in the gift shop. It had an incredibly homey and warm feel to it. Wouldnt miss any event at this location. The topper is they know how to pour Guinness and all the food was good!!!!! Theres street parking and no meters!!!!!or permit signs. IAHC is a bit difficult to see from the road but maybe that makes it all the more worthwhile!!!!!!!
