Thats a must visit in Chicago to me. The square has a nice exhibition base on the Chinese Calendar (it fun to see all the sculptures). The square also has lots of nice restaurants and nice desserts shop. Great place to eat noodles, bubble tea, corean ice cream or even soft cheesecake. Dont hesitate to go. It also easy to park around and just pay by the plate.
Chinatown is a wonderful foodie haven to enjoy the Chinese culture and a variety of Chinese cuisines, ranging from dim sum, Mainland China cuisine, Hong Kong cuisine, Taiwan cuisine, or ABC cuisine (ABC = American Born Chinese), each with their own varieties, character and flavors. The intensity of the flavors decreases according to the above listed order. Best of all, your dollar goes a long way over here!Additionally, there are also Chinese supermarkets. So you can get your Chinese meal fix here and buy some groceries back home to spice up your culinary meals. After a meal and buying groceries, dont forget to leave with a cup of boba tea!
Visited in Feb 2020. Fun location! Many shops and restaurants. The plaza has a permanent art installation based on the Chinese calendar. You can take a look around and find the year you were born and read more about what the calendar says about you and your personality. Its really quite fun to visit! The architecture in itself is a sight to see.
Always use public transportation to come here parking it’s impossible and the department of revenue is ruthless !!!
Chinatown is great. Going here makes for a wonderful day trip. Spend your time going through the shops and pick up items from the far east. I always stop to check out the markets and bring home some new food to cook. There are dozens of little restaurants dotted along the way, where you could grab a bite to eat after your shopping. For a special treat, check the website and time your visit with a cultural event or holiday. I love taking the water taxi from downtown, dropping you off at chinatowns doorstop.
Chinese food court, works late, authentic, you can actually see each kitchen, each chef, and some of the dishes before ordering. They cook fast on order. Do your research before ordering. I was in a hurry and didnt realize that the soup is going to be hot. Next time will order dumplings - they cool faster. They also have a place with all sorts of chinese kabobs - tiny ones on tiny wood skewers.I liked the new Chinese style - some of the places were super clean and modern. Two girls - apparently daughters of the chef moms were waiting - both clean, one with a super-modern mac book. Another with a modern big screen video player. — at Chinatown Square.
Very cool strip mall with tons of Chinese restaurants and shops, also a very cool phone store with a great selection across from US bank!
Coming from Washington, DC where we have a fake Chinatown (Its a commercial area of town with brands like Gap and Old Navy. Its only Chinatown because each store has Chinese characters on the sign!), I was hoping for a more authentic Chinatown experience. I left Chinatown Square a little disappointed. Chinatown Square is just a few blocks of Chinese restaurants that cater to Chicagos Chinese population, but thats it. In the center, theres a circle with all the zodiac signs and then an arch nearby. Thats it. If youre a tourist, I say save the time and skip Chinatown unless you really want a good bubble tea (I recommend Joy Yees).
This place was pretty cool! Got to check it out more
