Took a family trip down to VA for 04-Jul weekend and visited Easy Does It, for us and the kids to experience riding and learning more about the horse. I have to admit upon arriving I was not super enthusiastic. However, upon entering the back and be greeted by Mr. Pickles the kids face lit up with excitement they were sold and so were we. He was as excited to see them as they were to see him. Unfortunately, the trail ride didn’t go as planned but not for lack of trying by the staff. We were able to salvage the experience and had such a blast. I couldn’t imagine it being better on the trail. If it’s your first time please temper ur expectations and have an open mind or just take a kid along they’ll do it for u! 😆Pairing up an inexperienced rider with a horse especially one you care for is never an ideal situation. Expecting everything to be perfect is a pipe dream. My advise is to have an open mind, reserve judgment and from my experience the staff will work very hard to ensure your experience is great.On our very short trip to VA we were able to fit in quite a few 1st time activities, by far the most enjoyable experience for the kids was the time they spent learning, riding, feeding, petting, brushing … the horse!The staff was very professional, knowledgeable and would very much like to share their love for the animals with you so you can experience that connection. We don’t go to Disney because we are excited about Micky, we do it because the kids are, we are excited to share in that experience, make memories that may live on long after us, some of mine I have added below!Give Easy Does It and their staff a chance to show you why they are so passionate about their horses and IMHO from first hand experience you will have a great time!

Melinda and Robbin were patient and kind with my friend and I. As beginner riders, they had no problem teaching us how everything worked. Melinda is super sweet and Robbin is very informative! Mr. pickles is so cutes…I wanted to take him home. I rode Diva and my friend rode Red. We had a fantastic time! Hope to go back! 10/10 recommend!

Just went here while on vacation with my partner. Horses are all in wonderful shape, and very responsive. This place is perfect for both a beginner rider that wants to learn / take lessons, or a seasoned rider that wants some fun! The animals here are extremely happy; Melinda and her daughter are wonderful to them and just all around good people. Highly recommend for lessons / trails / group outings.

My little sister loves horses so decided to find a place for us to go horse back riding and this is the place I decided to go. It was our first time horse back riding and I’m so glad I chose this place to come to. The woman and younger girls were all sweet and just genuinely good hearted people which made our experience so much better! The horses were beautiful and well taken care of and what I liked also is that they were non profit and the people working were volunteers who love to come to work and do something they like doing. We also loved the donkey (Mr. Pickles) he was awesome! We’ll definitely be coming back!

I live in Chesapeake and know the owner of this fine establishment personally. She’s one of the most committed, hard-working people I know. Her big secret? She cares about people. Build your business around people and customer satisfaction? And you’ll always be number one in town!

The entire team at “Easy Does It “ were simply amazing! As a first time rider, the instructors provided clear directions and context for me. I truly enjoyed the teaching and riding of my horse, Red. The team made my Father’s Day surprise for my brother priceless. I will definitely come back next month.

My boyfriend and I went on a trail ride here while on vacation in the Portsmouth/Chesapeake/VA Beach area and we had a blast! I am a more experienced rider while my boyfriend has very little experience and they paired us with horses according to our level of experience and comfort. My boyfriend rode a horse named Red and I rode a horse named Diva. The owner was very kind to us and all of the staff were very friendly, and even offered to take photos for us. We had a really lovely time winding through the different trails in the back of the property while chatting with the staff members, and I was even able to do some arena work after the trails. The horse leading the trail ride, River, was new to the rehab center, and he seemed a little nervous leading, but he did a great job and the staff did a wonderful job helping him through the whole ride and he made it through like a pro! Overall, we had a wonderful experience with wonderful people and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to trail ride in the area.

Im going to try to keep this review short, but I could seriously write an essay about my experience! From the moment I spoke with Melinda on the phone, I KNEW I chose the right riding academy. She brought her team in extra early just to getin for the ride. They were very professional and knowledgeable, and their love, compassion and warmth for what they do was AMAZING! They were fun and flexible with what we wanted out of the session.DEFINITELY the place to go for all riders of western style. If I lived closer, I would want to volunteer here.My sister and I will definitely come back time and again and I look forward to yall coming to Yorktown! Please give us a call when yall are getting your riders together! And save Miss Diva for me!! Thank you a million times for this experience and helping me surprising and celebrating my sisters birthday!

Melinda and the women at Easy Does It are the best and would recommend them to anyone, whether you want to get back on and ride a trail or try something thing new and ride for the first time.

The staff was extremely friendly and made sure we were comfortable with the horses we were on, me and my wife had an overall amazing experience and highly recommended you ride with easy does it academy!!

The Easy Does it Ranch was an amazing experience. From setting up a trail ride with the manager Malinda to all the staff that was there. I took my 7 yr old granddaughter there and she loved it!! The ladies went above and beyond with ensuring we had the best time. The horses were well taken care of and you can tell that they get all the attention they need.I would highly recommend this place for all levels of experience that want to enjoy a nice comfortable trail ride.

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved our private trail ride at Easy Does it. My horse, Diva was a blast to ride and bond with. The trail we rode for an hour was smooth and serene. Our trail leader was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff was extremely friendly and it was evident that they truly loved their horses and their job. Definitely plan to go again. Excellent experience for the price. Thank you so much to the staff. We look forward to visiting again!

The staff were truly above and beyond. The horses Wendy, Red, and Diva were very well mannered. I even loved Mr. Pickles.

My friend and I came down from Maryland for the weekend and decided to go on a trail ride, we found Easy Does It and will 100% come back. I rode Diva and he rode Windy, we both had a great time, being more experienced with horses I got to ride in the ring, I trotted, cantered, did some pole bending, and walk/trot over poles. I have never been on a trail ride that allowed the more experienced riders to do more adventures things, I would SOO love to come back and whip Diva into shape.People were awesome, we got lots of pictures taken for us on the trail as well.Mr. Pickles was a delight!!

What an amazing experience! Nothing like it. Super healthy sweet horses who truly have fun in the water. Guide was amazing with directions on what to do and horses where easy and know what to do so well even a first time rider would be comfortable.

A place that i would never visit again. After explaining to the owner that id had very little experience in horse back riding i was still paired up with a horse that was meant to be ridden for experienced riders. As soon as id climbed on the horse, the horse took off heading towards the rocky drive way and onto the street. The owner started screaming and yelling at me as i managed to stop the horse. She came towards me berating and imbarasing me and screamed like a drill instructor. Id started to have an anxiety attack but she kept focusing on what i was doing wrong and became very inpatient when i couldnt do as shed said. I was finally after all that drama placed on a horse meant for a beginner and my ride became smoother but i will never forget the lack of empathy and meanness from the owner. I understand we all have our days but i would never treat someone like she treated me. And before Id paid my horseback riding fee, she acted like a totally different person, wed talked for hours and had dealt with anxiety. Just wanted my money.she tried to apologize but it was a smug apology. Never going back and i feel sorry for the horses. Nobody with her kind of behavior should be in charge. What I thought was a way to relax and deal with my anxiety and panic attacks turned out to be a total nightmare for me.

My 13 year old daughter and I had a blast going on the water ride! The horses were great and the staff was very friendly and informative. They gave clear, easy to fallow instructions. I highly recommend this ride.
