Adopted a cat from Humane Education Society a few weeks back, formally named Sammi she now goes by Hazel. The shelter wasn’t sure how she would do with dogs but I knew from first sight she’d fit in with our family just fine and I was right! These two are inseparable. My dog could not be happier to have her. The shelter made adoption quick and easy. Even took us on a meet and greet to meet as many cats that could possibly be a good fit for us. When we showed interest in Sammi the shelter even offered to allow us to bring our dog in to meet each other before adoption. We declined the offer only because that seemed stressful for both animals to meet in a shelter surrounded by other stressed out animals. Thank you guys for rescuing and caring for our little fur friends till they can find their forever homes. We can’t thank you enough for saving our little furry princess

I honestly think it’s kind of wack that you can’t just walk in and meet the animals. You have to fill out an application, then they will fit you in when they have time. What a great way to not get animals adopted. My wife, our 6 year old, and I stopped in and they told us we couldn’t walk through and see the dogs because we hadn’t filled out an application. They said we could go online, fill out and application and maybe be seen Monday. We’re literally standing right in front of them. What a terrible way to do business

The lower paid employees care about what theyre doing, the volunteers are great, a lot of the lower level staff needs a few more dollars an hour pay increase, some of the policies are odd. They put a lot of effort into their fundraisers and into caring for the animals. Im glad they got the new building, but its too bad that flooded in the contractors sort of skipped out on doing the electrical properly

When adopting, theyre very detailed, they walked us through to see all the dogs. We then got to meet the dogs we were interested in. And got to leave with the baby of our choice. The was no on hold sign on one dog we looked at when there should have been. But that was a honest mistake, Im sure. When leaving they give you all the paper work and go over it in detail. They give you a toy of your choice for your pup. A leash and harness. A bag of the dogwood which was diet science. And of coarse all the dogs are spayed/neutered before they leave. And it seems like they honestly care and answer your questions honestly so you get the right dog for your family.

I was SO impressed by my adoption experience! From the thorough interview prior to my scheduled adoption appointment, to the caring volunteers who guided my great adoption experience, to the vaccinations and neutering of all the animals, over all medical care that each animal receives, to the informative packet that they give you to best care for your new best friend. I’m so happy that Chattanooga has this incredible organization who keep all of the animals’ best interest in heart. I’m over the moon with my new best furry friend and all of the wonderful people who made it happen. I am fur-ever grateful! 😻😻😻

This is the most horrendous, sick minded establishment that i have ever step foot in. i adopted a dog from here ab two months ago. they had told us he had previously had flees but had taken his last bath he needed on the day we adopted him. after repeatedly asking if his skin was something we should be concerned about they assured us he was fine and sent us home with one last pill. we came home to find his medical records which was never shown to us before, showing that he had undergone multiple treatments for a number of issues. we contacted the vet about a week later because he began bitting him self to the point that he was bleeding. She made it seem like not a big deal and suggested that we go to our personal vet. We asked if we could take him back to get the proper treatment he needed like we were told he received and then re adopt however she said this wasn’t an option. after going to multiple vets and spending thousands of dollars, they diagnosed him with everything except a fungal infection. the fungal infection is what he had from the start that was never fully treated. about three months after adoption our other animals began to show similar signs, and even my family began to get rashes. at this point we could no longer keep our pets because not only was it costing us thousands of dollars and our attention 24/7 but now it was spreading to us too. we found homes for all 3 of our cats but after calling almost every animal shelter in the Chattanooga area no one would take our two sick dogs. i tried contacting establishment to let them know what happened but they hung up in my face. I also left a review, in which I received a response that basically re-told my story in what SHOULDVE happened. My review and the response was quickly deleted? why was that, cause you knew you were in the wrong? After writing about a 5 page essay and sending it to them, they decided to contact me. They said they would take our dogs and try and treat them. On my 18th birthday they contacted us again telling us it was a life long condition. They offered nothing in return except anger and sadness for our entire family. we have had some of these pets since i was a child and it was probably the worst thing i’ve gone through. All though it does seem crazy everything i said is completely true and i would never want anyone to go through something similar SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!!okay for some reason when i reposted this the review is there again, regardless you can see how they undermined everything i said and didn’t even seem to listen to me

Even though I have a huge back yard thats completely fenced in, would have a nice dog house, plenty of shade trees, pltlenty of water & food the 3 nights I work and would have to keep it outside they still wouldnt let me adopt because the lady at the front desk said they only adopt INDOOR DOGS ONLY- and only allow the dog outsider to go for a walk on a leash with you and thats pretty much it. Should get a -1000 but oh well. This is the absolutely worst place my sister has ever been in her entire life. As a first time owner, she came to them to adopt a cat. She fell in love with one named Milton. They told her that he had no medical issues whatsoever, completely healthy. They took her money for him. However, come to find out, they completely lied to me about his health records. He had diarrhea and vomited up blood. She called them everyday for 2 weeks and they continuously brushed it off and made it seem like it was just stress. She took him to the vet three times in 2 weeks and they couldnt figure out what was wrong. She also found out that he had Tapeworms at the vet. DR. CALLAHAN at the Humane Society claimed to have done a test which was also a lie. They sent him home with somebody without being treated for worms. She took him back to the Humane Society because she was scared for his wellbeing. SAVANNAH, the incompetent manager, promised that she would take care of him and apologized for THEIR MISTAKE. Come to 2 days later, we both go there to look at another cat and Milton is back on the floor to be adopted. They are HORRIBLE PEOPLE that just want peoples money. They do not care about the animals there at all! Do not adopt from them! They will forge records and absolutely lie! HORRIBLE PEOPLE!

The Volunteers do a great job! I went to adopt a cat & spent a couple hours in 1 of 2 adult cat rooms. The rooms are connected by little tunnel & theyd pass back/forth. Wonderful, beautiful cats! Cats are spay/neutered, all shots, litter trained, free Vet exam & have microchips. Volunteers help you with everything. I went thinking Id get 1 cat I saw up for adoption on FB. After I spent time with the cats, I ended up finding a perfect cat for my family. Im SO glad I spent time in the room with them watching their personalities come out. I brought a baggie of cat treats & got interaction with all the cats.We wanted an adult, but there are plenty of sweet little kittens, too. Building is old, but kept clean & organized. The staff and volunteers there are caring and kind. They do the best they can with their limited funding. They deserve more. With more $$, they could do more (and better) for the community as a whole.*I will say that when one of my canines was picked up and held there for expired rabies tags (10 days, to be sure they were rabies free) it came home with Kennel Cough and in turn quickly infected the other animals in my home...its been rough on all of us, especially my elderly dogs.**To spite the financial limitations they face, I have nothing against the staff in any way.

I went here today looking for a new family member to adopt. They had lots of beautiful kittens. This sweet volunteer lady showed me around and it was so kind of her to take the time to do that because it was my first time. Well we fell in love with this one kitten who wouldve been perfect for our family.. I waited in line to see what the process was.. After waiting for what seems like forever.. The girl didnt give me the time of day to let me ask anything and just told me I needed to fill out an application before I can do anything else.. Filled out a three page application.. Get back in this line.. After turning in the papers I was told the kitten was already in the process of being adopted and that she didnt have time to put a green collar on him.. We were so heartbroken because he was the ONE! SO we decided to look around some more and of course we did find another adorable one... Stood back in line... There were 2 girls working the front.. Well when it got to my turn the girl told me to hang on... When the 2nd girl was available instead of helping me she went to the next person in line and already started her adoption.. I waited for my girl to come back and when she did she said there was a couple of adoption in front of me and I would have to wait..so I waited.. And waited.. Finally I decided i will just have to come back another time.. So I kindly told the girl to not worry about it and that I will be back another time.. She looks at me like I just cussed her out or something. And just went off telling me how there is only two of them and a ton of other adoptions they had to do and on and on. And they just got to mine.. Wouldve been nice to know!! Anyways all of this just put me in a sour mood because she was just taking all of it out on me and Ive been patiently waiting this whole time without saying a word.. Well the kitten we finally chose had to be brought back at least 5 times to get to its surgery weight ... I wouldve not minded doing that for the little sweet guy.. But to think of dealing with the workers here that many times after just this one time annoying experience .. I couldnt do it.. I would rather go to Petsmart or some other rescue organization and pay extra money . I cant stand bad customer service.
