My child have been going to Union Mills since 6month old and enjoyed the place however, i had an unforgettable experience with the staff members with mistreatment and addressing a request/issues. I was very disappointed and beyound hurt at them for making me unwelcome and mistreated my son and i at the time. I then called to speak to a manager since i was very upset. Spoke with Lori, who was surprised about everything that took place. She apologized and addressed all the issues with her employee and assured me and promised me that kind of situation will never happen again. As a parent i didnt feel comfortable to take my child back however, Lori was very nice on making sure i shouldnt worry about that and if i have any questions, issues, or problems to call her in the future so i feel better and hope things will be better as i want continue to take my child their.

My SICK granddaughter was refused to be seen today because they told my daughter she came in 10 min late. She was let in the office initially and then she was told she needs to leave because she came 10 min late, even though there was only a 5 min delay, not 10, because my daughter has another 1 year and 9 months old baby at home .I, myself, have been a pediatric nurse for more than 30 years and we have never refused to see a sick patient because of them being 10 minutes late. I have also brought my granddaughter to Union Mill Pediatrics for sick or well check ups and we always waited more than 10 minutes for the doctor to come in and see my grandkids, we have never complained as we all work in medical care and we understand that some time an appointment can take longer than we expect, if your medical office is not first of all a buisness but a place for patients care, 10 minutes should not be a problem, especially when you work with kids.Very BIG disappointment to see what medical care has turn into these days.

Union Mills is now a state COVID vaccine clinic, with 100+ random adults coming through the waiting room and exam rooms daily. I enthusiastically support vaccination, but during a pandemic, is it safe to open up a pediatricians office to 100+ adults per day? There were five adult men in the waiting room when we arrived, and additional people lined up outside the office in the hallway. I support getting shots in arms, but I would also rather that those shots be administered somewhere other than my childrens doctors office. We will be switching peds.

Union Mill Pediatrics is amazing. They are the best of the best when it comes to caring for my children. They are thoughtful and listen well. They are very knowledgeable and keep up with newer procedures and recommendations. They do not over prescribe medications and are firm and great with recommendations for faster healing. They are consistently excellent. Their billing is spot on. They really care about my children. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Nothing is more important to me than the proper care of my children for routine exams and when they are sick. Love them!

I needed a New Patient Appointment ASAP to have certain forms filled out for my child to start daycare the following week. I called on late on Thursday, and they got me scheduled for Friday morning. I was the worst possible new patient parent. I had 0 forms filled out and showed up a minute or two past my scheduled appointment time, I also didn’t have her shot records from our previous pediatrician. They were able to get her records faxed over and everything was taken care of. Every staff member was SO kind to me, even though I was a HOT mess. They took us back immediately and allowed me to fill out the forms during her appointment. Dr. Killian was wonderful, my 5 year old loved her. When my daughter had to get shots, the woman who administered them (I think her name was Ashley) was so calming that my daughter didn’t even cry. I’m so thankful we have found this office, and thankful how kind they were to us. 10/10 Recommend.

Dr killian is awesome. I have been bringing both my girls here for years. The office is very kid friendly. They have even waived a missed appointment fee when I changed my number and missed a wellness appointment.

My five children have been coming to Union Mill Pediatrics since 1998. The doctors and staff have been wonderful over the years. They really take the time to listen to our concerns and if the issue is out of their area of expertise, will recommend specialists to see. Its easy to make appointments and urgent care is quick and almost always the same day. I highly recommend Union Mill Pediatrics!

Both my children have been going here since birth. I have never had a bad experience. The front office staff are friendly and helpful and the doctors and nurses truly listen and take time with us. We typically see Dr. Wayne, and he always explains the why behind what is going on. As a new Mom many years ago, that was beyond comforting (and still is!). All four doctors are wonderful though and I am greatful we found them!

I have 8 kids under 14 and we have been very happy with the doctors at Union Mill and the nurses and the receptionists and the billing staff. The new on-line services such as scheduling appointments has been very convenient. Even the after hour services have been helpful to my family. It is the only doctor office I have been in where the rooms are not freezing. Each room is hand painted with a different theme. It makes my kids more at ease. All the doctors have great bed side manners and take as much time as you need with your appointment. I have been to other practices but since I found Union Mill, I know all my children will be in good hands until they are 21.

Very disappointing experience at Union Mill Pediatrics when my wife took our daughter to get her school vaccination. We have been patients at Union Mill for many years and have almost always had a positive experience there. But this was different. Our daughter is autistic and terrified of needles. Unfortunately, when she tried to avoid getting the shot, the nurse Ximena suggested that she be restrained, and insisted that my wife leave the room. My wife quite rightly refused, as this would have been an extremely traumatizing experience for our daughter. At that, the nurse told my wife to wait for 20 minutes (an impossibility since we had another appointment) and abruptly left the room. Fortunately, the other nurse she had called to assist, a man, agreed to stay and wait a minute until our daughter calmed down. After a minute, she did calm down, and this second nurse gave her the shot quickly and without incident. The behavior of the first nurse was not only rude to my wife; more importantly, it bespeaks an insensitivity to the needs of autistic children. They are not the same as other kids, and cant be treated the same way. I believe that the management of Union Mill Pediatrics owes us an apology.

Weve been going to this office since 2010 and love it! We have two sons, with our first we went to two other pediatricians, and then found this one and havent left even though we live a distance away. All of the doctors are great and spend their time really evaluating any concerns we have. My personal favorite is Dr. Killian but again theyre all great. The nurses/medical assistants are equally impressive, they remember the kids which is a great treat for them. If we go to an urgent care or ER, the office always follows-up with a phone call to verify if we need to make an apt with their team which is appreciated and to give us advice. The after hour and online services are also beneficial. Over the years Ive had a few issues with billing, but weve worked those out and I noticed recently while in the office that front staff has seemed to change so this may no longer be a concern.Overall, great office - you will be pleased if you take your kids to them!

They care more about money than patient care. My 6mo baby was seen at the ER for difficulty breathing, and when I tried to follow up with Union Mill, they refused to see her because my insurance hadnt paid for the newborn visits yet. Called and spoke with the insurance, they assured us the payment was processing and they would have the money next week. Nora, the office manager claims to have gotten several different stories from the insurance company, ranging from theyre never going to pay us so you owe us $1800 to what they told us, and chose to believe that the first was true. She then accused us of being the ones that screwed up by not insuring the baby in time (this is false), and refused to schedule a follow-up for a baby that nearly died in my arms on Friday night. When I spoke to Dr Wayne, who I previously believed to be a wonderful doctor, he fully backed Nora. I will be taking my daughter to a pediatrician that cares more for the health of their patients than the money they can make off them. Im appalled by the level of negligence this practice showed towards my daughter. I will never be returning. In response to the offices response:No, I did not. I had to see a different pediatrician to follow up on her visit to the ER and they did confirm with me that what your practice did was medically negligent. We told you several times that the payment from the insurance was processing and you would have it the following week, but you still wanted me to shell out an enormous sum of money to be able to see you. When the insurance was already paying you. And I had already paid half of it. And I didnt have the money to pay the rest, because most people dont have $800+ laying about for things that are supposed to be covered 100% by insurance. So, no, Im not misrepresenting you at all. Im still waiting on my reimbursement, by the way.

Union Mill Pediatrics has been our pediatrician practice of choice since moving to Virginia in 1998. I find the office staff friendly and the physicians are outstanding. I get appointments whenever I need them and in earlier years when I needed referrals, they were quite responsive. The one-on-one time that they have taken during appointments with both of our kids (boy and girl) to explain issues and answer questions is second to none. I highly recommend this practice to other families.

Patients since 2004. Overall very content with service. First 9 years here we were a military family. I fought with my military insurance to keep Union Mills. We will definitely stay with them until our kids age-out.

Other posts hit it I think accurately. The doctors have been great with the kids (and parents) during the face time. The office/administration has at times been frustratingly lacking on timeliness, understanding, flexibilty. Dont expect the warm and fuzzy after the appointment/follow up, especially call backs. Have had 3 kids go through their doors and it has been like that for years.

I requested a statement print out that I need for court and when I requested it on a letter head the officer manager refused. When I went in person for the statement, the office manager lied about 2 no shows I originally had that suddenly weren’t on the statement anymore. The office manager stated she didn’t want to get involved. I said if you lie and do not print out the correct statement you will be involved then she decided to print out the correct version of the statement. But even then, one of the no-shows that should have been on there was removed. This is beyond unprofessional and I am disappointed that a place of business would try to cover up information that is being requested for very important court related purposes. Shame on the Office Manager and shame on this business.

I love Union Mill Pediatrics! Ive been taking my four children here for over 10 years. One of my children has cognitive and developmental disabilities are the doctors and nurses are really great with him! Most of the time my kids see Dr Maura and Dr Wayne (wife and husband!) since I love that they have been in practice for so long and have 4 of their own children so they have a lot of knowledge and experience. This gives me a lot of confidence in their care and diagnosis. My kids have seen Dr Pooja and Dr Killion and they are wonderful as well. They have a wonderful front office staff which is such a blessing! They are kind, considerate, and patient. The advice nurse, Diana, is very patient, kind, compassionate and always returns my calls in very reasonable time. The MAs are cheerful, patient, kind and very good at what they do.Same day Sick appointments are easy to get. They even have walk-in hours for established patients now! My wait time in the waiting room is less than 5 minutes; once the nurse completes her tasks, my wait time for the doctor is less than 5 minutesI hope your experience with Union Mill Pediatrics turns out to be just as wonderful as mine!

**update** Union Mill is using fake reviews on Google to try and bolster their ratings .. look for the reviews below with no avatar, vague sounding names, and this office being their first reviewDeplorable. The office staff here gets hung up on paperwork and money versus patient care, allowing a childs health and well being to languish in the meantime. Office manager Nora promises callbacks that never happen in a timely manner.Administrative staff could care less if your childs life is in jeopardy, as long as they dont have to be bothered with the menial task of taking a phone call.Doctors take an oath to do no harm, but I can assure you, unless youre dropping off money sacks at each appointment, this group of so called physicians will do nothing for you. Per the doctor and owner himself hes running a business...Sorry, but Id rather see a doctor who looks at my infant as someone in his care, versus someone he can milk money out of.Shameful

Okay lets start with the bad. There is one thing that is less than ideal. Dr. Maura, she means well but she can often seem dismissive and she is very, very opinionated. After my son had a three hour eval with ITC and when I went to her to get a sign off she argued with the Dx of Autism and that he had severely delayed motor skills. That being said, she is still a good doctor she just needs to listen more and talk less. Her husband, Dr. Wayne, well HE IS AMAZING. Dr. Killian and Dr. Pooja both are EXCELLENT physicians. All of them have been more than willing to send me out for referrals or calm my anxiety. They are patient when I ask for more information with vaccinations that are new or changes.I have never had an issue with any of the office staff. They have been amazing thus far. My personal favorite is Nora! Mary, you are a runner up! Both of them are always good for a laugh and just do a great job with communication and information. I have a favorite MA but shame on me I cant say her name. Either way all of the Medical Assistants are great, in my experience.Be patient with Dr. Maura she does mean well but yeah I have an understanding with the office that I will not see her unless there are no other options.

I absolutely love the pediatrician and nurses. They are very patient and understanding with my hyperactive son. I cant express enough how much it is since my last experience with another practice. The reason I gave 1 star is:This is how our first visit to Union Mill Pediatrics. We walked in, no receptionist, or anyone to greet us. Waited 15mins until someone acknowledge our presences. Wait another 10mins, the receptionist finally realized we are new patients and need to fill out forms. She gave us the forms 30mins into our appointment. I’m not even worried about the delay. (Maybe people were running late, etc. It happens. I understand.)Met the doctor, she’s very conserve and careful with my son. (Previous doctor were rough and careless; quick appointment.) She explained in details on what we need to do with my son’s health. She didn’t over diagnosed, and tries to pursue my son take a lot of medication. I really appreciated that.At check-out, I asked the receptionist if I have co-pay. She said, they will submit claim to insurance and they will just send me a statement or bill.Next visit, I came back in 3 months to seek advice in regards to my son’s behavior. The office had a urinary test done in the office to check if he had a urinary tract infection. Again, at check-out, no balance and they will send me a statement to let me know.2-3 months after that visit, I receive a statement from Quest, the lab stating that I have a balance of $10.01. I send out a check to pay the balance immediately to the practice! The lab test was done in April 2016; I didn’t get the statement until June 2016. That’s fine I do not mind, I do understand medical claims need some time to process or reprocess. No big deal.In July, 2016 I receive another statement from Quest for $10.01. At this point, I was concern so I called Union Mills Practice. Spoke to the receptionist and she said that was an old bill so disregard it because they do not have any outstanding balance for my son’s account. It’s August 2016, near the end of the month. I receive another statement from Quest for the same amount, $10.01! I called the practice again! This time they want me to talk to Nora; I believe she’s either the manager or accountant who may be able to answer why there are still statements sent to me for same bill PAID 2 months prior.Nora told me they cashed the check back in June for $10.01 for copay that was due for my son’s visit. (Which I NEVER receives a statement for?) On the bottom left corner of the check written; for lab fee for DOS: 04/2016. She even admit to ignoring the message on the check, causing the distress and confusion for myself and everyone else in their office. She was blunt, rude, and inconsiderate.I will not be coming back to this office. I didn’t care what the check was being distributed to, but the fact how it was handled to sort out the confusion. (Come on…its $10 bucks!) This tells me the office is very much disorganized with their finances. I’m not so confident with putting my trust with Nora. She seems like she cash any check that goes into her mailbox and still send me to collection for $10.No one smiled when people entered the office. It seem gloomy…not a good pedo atmosphere. The administrative seem tired all the time. A smile would be nice…Sorry, it didn’t work out even though I love the doctor.
