Jody is my gal!If I am feeling well enough to accomplish tasks ... she is right there to help.If I am up to going out... well ...we just call it an adventure!If I am bed bound ... she makes SURE ..that I am taken care of ... and I have EVERYTHING I need within reach!Until you are in the situation of restrictions ongoing with you physically in your life ... it is hard to understand !When I am overwhelmed and hard times make me sad, Jody gets me through them.On top of it all, we make each other laugh at even the dumb and the little things!Jody gets it!Jody gets me!And I am grateful for her!!

Jody is first of all the greatest; she always comes ready to help especially with my 86 year old husband, she’s great with him and takes care of all his needs. Also she will ask what she can do to help me with. As you can tell we think she’s the best. God bless her.

I am very pleased with the people that I have had helping me in my home. The only issue I have is when a new person comes I have to instruct them how to do what I need done. There are a few people that I have on a regular basis that I would like to mention. Michaela is my usual person and I just love her! She is amazing! So efficient, smart, caring, and fun. Max is another one that I really like. He is so very helpful and a quick learner. Nothing seems to get him down. I only had Sarah once as she is a fill in person but she is wonderful to be around. I would also like to commend the office staff. If I need to change my schedule they are always happy to help. They are friendly and easy to talk to. I would highly recommend BrightStar for in home help needs.

We chose BrightStar as the solution when my parents had reached the point where they needed help to remain in their home. We chose 24/7 companion/care and the entire staff has been wonderful to work with. The caregivers are kind and very attentive. When we started working with them, a plan of care was created with our input. We have a core team of dedicated, consistent caregivers who work hard to carry out the plan of care that the nurse/manager has created. This consistency has ensured that health needs are met on a daily basis and my siblings and I do not have to worry about falls or other common elderly safety hazards. Knowing someone is there all day and all night is very reassuring. Curtis and the entire management team have been wonderful and extremely responsive. The few issues we have encountered were met with immediate response and always to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend BrightStar as an alternative to assisted living or long term care.

Leah is such a good helper, she goes from one thing to the next, never stopping working. Shes a good employee and shes friendly, kind and curtis. Enjoy having her come and clean my apartment for me. Always got a smile on even with the mask! Shes a keeper! Sincerely Jeffrey Koch

My wife Charlotte has been very handicapped with multiple sclerosis. Recently she fractured her hip and spent three months in a nursing home. This has further decreased her mobility. In order to bring her back home, we investigated a number of home health care agencies in the area and we decided to use BrightStar. I have been her principal caretaker for the past few years but after her hip injury I am unable to give her the care she needs. I was pretty worried about how this would go. So far we have not been disappointed. We have in general been impressed with the competence and experience of the aides.One of these aides who has established a particularly good relationship with Charlotte is Jamie. She is a very caring and responsible CNA. When Jamie is around my worries were over. She came in our apartment and not only took good care of my wife. She also organized our kitchen and bedroom. This was much needed because I am pretty disorganized. She treats Charlotte with the utmost respect and they have established a very good rapport with each other. She makes Charlotte feel very comfortable (and me too). Jamie has been very reliable and competent. She is an efficient person who takes pride in doing a thorough job. Overall we have been very satisfied. Thanks Jamie!

Rene Lemon is my husbands bath aide. She is wonderful to work with. She is kind and caring! She is also very good at her job. I would highly recommend her to any clients who need the services of a bath aide.

Markeya has been my homemaker for the last two months while Ive been recuperating from a fall. She is a very nice young lady and goes about the tasks that I ask her to do very efficiently. After her first visit she quickly knew the location of everything she needed, and organized her time well. She even made some apple sauce for me a couple times, which was very good. When I have errands, she gladly obliges and handles them readily. I can just sit back and relax, and even enjoy hearing about her classes and goals.On an occasion when Markeya couldnt come, Emely came and was very sweet and did an excellent job, too. I will miss them both when I get better. My contact with Allison and other staff have always been helpful and pleasant.

I definitely would not recommend this company.We had a myriad of concerns with the staff they sent, including leaving early, coming to work ill and exposing my elderly in laws to whatever they had as they stayed (sitting at the table with their head laying on it) and spending their time sitting and visiting when personal hygiene cares and meals were not being addressed, just to name a few.As our concerns continued, Curtis promised a care plan folder at the house, someone from skilled nursing to come learn the dialysis process as the skilled nursing component was the reason we chose this company and Curtis also said he would come for a portion of a shift to oversee.None of the above which ever happened.The final straw was when a worker showed up on a day they were not scheduled and in my conversation after that with Curtis I shared that my father in law said when he got home from an appointment she was there just sitting and visiting.Although it wasnt on the care plan, sitting and visiting seemed to more than get accomplished every shift. Curtis raised his voice and said What is wrong with her visiting with ______.As I told him, there is nothing wrong with that, except that is not one of the many things we listed on her care plan or that we ever requested.I also mentioned that there are many opportunities to visit when you are accomplishing the care plan, that dont involve sitting.

I am a proud Brightstar Caregiver. They show so much appreciation and support to their employees and give you as many hours you can handle. They have supported me when my car was down and helped me get to and from work (I don’t know many companies that will go above and beyond like that). I hope to continue to grow with this company. We are not just a company we are a team we are family.

My parents recently started with BrightStarCare in Marion and they have been such a help to them! Curtis, operations manager, came to their home and introduced their services and remained helpful in the adjusting period. He helped us get more weekly hours from the VA which was needed as my parents (both Vets) have Heath and/or Dementia issues. They matched my parents with Jessica who they absolutely love! Being out of state, I am relieved that they are in good hands with both Jessica and the BrightStarCare team. Just a few issues with some of the office employees that my Dad expressed frustration with. Otherwise they’ve been super!

Brightstar is enabling me to let mom stay at home with me instead of forcing her into the nursing home (even though I do have to work full time outside of the home). They have several good home makers, and when my mom developed an especially good rapport with Cortera (who is amazing), the office has worked schedules so that mom can have most of her care with her.Not only has Brightstar provided reliable care (showing up and showing up on time), they have been great at last minute add ons. For example, I only had 48 hours notice when mom was offered her first COVID-19 vaccine. Cortera was there and went with mom on the paratransit bus and helped her navigate getting her vaccine in an unfamiliar clinic. That is a big deal. A couple of weekends ago I tried to go on a 3.5 day weekend trip, and hired an untrained college student to just spend the nights (trying to save a few bucks). It did not work out and I was 9 hours away. I called Brightstar at 7 that first morning, and they arranged coverage for me for the next two nights so that I did not have to turn around and drive home.In addition to the services they provide my mom, they have provided compassionate guidance to me as I have struggled with the healthcare system as my moms dementia has progressed and Im dealing with her loss of independence.

My caregiver, Lidia, is an excellent and hard worker. Also, friendly and considerant. I always look forward to seeing her.

We are so pleased with Mariah and Tennille for the great care they give to my husband and theirs to me with house chores, they are so pleasant and always willing to do extra. Brightstar care has EXCEEDED my expectation. The office staff has gone above and beyond for my uncle. The first gal that was sent out wasnt the right fit for him, but they were very attentive and did everything they could do and got us the perfect match for him. We truly paired with the perfect company to help him. VERY pleased!

I am sorry not trying to sound rude. But I feel the complete opposite of what she said below. I feel that BrightStar care is an amazing company to work for. I always get shift notifications when shifts open up as well as calls from office staff if shifts are closed. When i am not available to answer my phone they always leave a message so i know what the call was about. I think all office staff are very professional and ensure that the clients and caregivers are taken care of to the best of their ability! I would truly recommend Bright Star care for employment as well as would have them in my home to take care of my family if needed. I would give Bright Star Care a 5/5 such an amazing company! :D

Our business with Brightstar has been amazing. Mariah is an absolute angel. She has been working with my husband, who had a stroke last September. She massages his paralyzed leg and arm, which has helped to bring back movement. She also does light housekeeping for us. She has definitely made our life bearable. Rene L does an excellent job for me, which isnt always easy. I cant say enough good things about her, I would give her more stars if I could. I dont know how much she is paid but she should get a raise! I honestly dont know what I would do without her.

Brightstar provided care for my wife upon her discharge from skilled nursing 24/7 for four days and is continuing with us a few mornings a week. The service was well organized and the caregivers were punctual. As expected, there were a variety of personalities, but my wife and I were comfortable having all in our home. All responded immediately with requests for assistance and asked often if there was anything else that they could do to help. Bright Star has our strong recommendation.

Katie Smith in marketing has been great and responsive to all my questions and needs. As an AL director myself she full of knowledge about the home care and the services they are able to provide. If she doesnt know she gets you in contact with those who do know and then she even Follows Up which is unheard of these days!! Hands down great customer service out representing your company out in the community!!

I would recommend Bright Star as a place to work. Office staff are friendly and helpful. If you are not happy with or you feel not qualified for a placement, all you need to do is call the office and talk through the issue. Schedules are flexible. If you go above and beyond, you are definitely rewarded, which I know I appreciate! But the best reward is when you hear that a client you helped is so grateful to have someone like you!!

Christy and Curtis at BrightStar responded to my family quickly when a loved one suddenly needed 24 hour care. They had a caregiver for us in less than 4 hours, and set up an ongoing schedule. Every BrightStar caregiver we have met has been dependable, professional and compassionate with both our family member and with us. They made a very stressful situation more manageable for everybody. I highly recommend this company.

We recently used BrightStar for in home daycare when our usual provider was closed and centers were not taking drop ins due to COVID. Tennille M did a great job with our two toddlers. It was a crazy week due to the derrecho, but she was always timely, responsible, helpful and courteous. She did a great job keeping our kids happily occupied and safe. Would recommend BrightStar and Tennille as a care provider.

I would recommend BrightStar, they are fast at finding help for a loved one that needs help asap. The staff is great to work with friendly and always there when you need them. Curtis one of the big wigs isnt afraid to jump in and go to a clients and help out. Katy is awesome to work with, she gets the right fit to your needs.

Not only was the company amazing to work with but they sent me a women named Patience Toe who was an absolutely incredible caregiver. Allison and the complete corporate staff have always been open and receptive to my input and always try to put their best foot forward in caring for my Dad who has Alzheimers and needs 24/7 care so that he can still live in his own apartment. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. :) They start off by giving you no schedule to begin with and expect you to call everyday to see if there is a shift available. I eventually only ended up having ONE shift a week for ONLY 3 hours in Swisher Iowa where I am not even from. Apparently there was no available shifts in the Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha area for over 2 months. The people who work in the office are very unprofessional and unorganized. If you work here count your hours because they mess up paychecks frequently. I put in my two weeks after only getting 1 shift a week for many weeks, hoping I would get more hours but nope!! I finished my first week of the last two weeks I had with Brightstar Care with no problem. I got to my last shift the last week in Swisher, 30 minutes from my house 1 way, and they canceled my shift over night without telling me! No call, no voice mail, nothing. Complete waste of time and gas money. I would never recommend anyone to work here, as I said before very unprofessional and unorganized.

I love working with this company. The staff is all great people and makes me feel like family. They are all very hard working and a very caring team to work for and with. We love our clients and do whats best to make sure they are wll being cared for and taken care of. Brightstar cares more then any other care giving Ive worked for and with. Brightstar shows lots of compassion.

Not sure what kind of experience the other reviewer went through but as far as I know, this company is great and the people are even better! Worked there for a few months while attending college and they made me feel very welcome and made sure I was capable and understood what I was doing. The men and women we cared for made it all worth it. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Very upsetting to see a one star rating.

Would not recommend this place to work. You spend more in gas going from client to client than you get in a paycheck. Granted the staff were nice, for the most part. But you don’t know where things are in people’s houses or exactly what your doing that day, there is no one there to show you. Also they messed up my check on more than one occasion. I waited for a check for almost two weeks and had called multiple times. I deposited it, then a week later they stopped the payment making the account negative out of know where. The finances are completely messed up. Find something better, this is not the place work.

She understands what is going on with mom and often times teaches us things we didnt know. My mother thinks Stephanie is part of the family.

I did not like their services. I had specifically asked for a certain caregiver on many occasions and did not receive what I had asked. In the past, Ive heard so many good things about this place but seems to me they get rid of the good people and constantly replace with new unexpierenced people. This company has really gone down hill.

BrightStar began providing Home Making Services for my father in West Des Moines, Iowa. The Veteran who did the cleaning was wonderful. In February 2019 Bright Star in West Des Moines, Iowa began providing respite care for my WWII father and cares three times a week for bathing. A message would be left, dates and times were discussed. Promising to call back. I always had to call back. No follow through. Complaints to Curtis in Cedar Rapids, communication at the Bright Star office in West Des Moines did not improve. Today my fathers phone rang 8 days after he died. Bright Star calling wanting to talk to my dad. Good Gracious!!! I called them the morning my dad died. What does it take for the West Des Moines, office to communicate!

I would definitely recommend Brightstar Care to work for. They are absolutely amazing!!!!!! All the staff in the office are great to work with!!!!

If I could give this company 0 stars I would in a heartbeat. Ive gone through an interview with the company they spoke negativity on their clients as I waited to be interviewed. Broke the HIPAA law by stating their names.Then I have a friend that asked me to help someone out because they knew I had been a CNA and this person needed assistance because BrightStar dropped them as a client. They gave them no notice to being without care either. Which left them either in their chair to sleep or in their bed with nothing. I cant understand nor fathom leaving someone thats chair bound to have 0 help.Brightstar also tried to make this person pay more out of pocket because they couldnt keep staff saying they were too difficult of a client. The employees NEVER seen a pay raise either!This person is NOT extremely difficult and very independent for the situation at hand! Ive never met a nice person. For this company to do this to them is sad, and disappointing, and down right disgusting. Please, please, please research home health companys! You have that right and so does your loved ones.Im not sure the reason they never hired me but Im VERY thankful for them not choosing me as an employee!

I worked for them for 6 months and they sent me to homes I was not skilled to care for.....they do not provide the proper training and are all about profit! A dear friend of mine hired them to care for her mother and she said it was a nightmare! Please dont hire these greedy people!

Not a place to work at i applied here then they fired me cause i told them i only wanted to work in iowa city or coralville then they tried to send me to solon witch i told them i dont want to go there then they told me dont come back and on top of that tried to cheap me out of orientation money then my mileage i wouldnt tell no one to work there not a good place and they dont like blacks

This is a very poorly run company. I had 2 caregivers for my husband The first one came a few times and then quit with no notice. The second one lost his drivers license and could no longer come. There were numerous mistakes on the billing which it took many phone calls to fix. Then 6 months after we quit using them they billed my credit card for a service we never received. After 4 phone calls to their office and waiting a month nothing has been done to correct this problem. They are inept both in their care and in their business practices. I would never use them again and I recommend nobody else does either.

Would never recommend this place for work or services. Horrible management, the office workers are very unorganized and unprofessional, treats employees and residents unfairly, workplace is unhappy, hours are inconsistent and too low of a pay (even if you have CNA certificate). Residents gets shifts canceled on them and has various of different caregivers all the time. Very disappointed in this in-home senior care company.

I have had Home Choice come in to do light cleaning and give my mother a shower twice a week for 6 or 7 years now and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for senior care.
