My dad is 92 years old and he stays here about two-week, he loves everything here. The facility is very clean and no bad smell, the gardens are beautiful. The entire staffs, nurses and social workers are very helpful, friendly, respectful, kind, thoughtful, dependable, and compassionate to my dad. Any questions my dad had were quickly and thoroughly answered. Especially, the Director, Rocio is very professional and exceptional, she is a great leader and always goes above and beyond to deliver the very best service. The staffs give excellent care along with excellent therapy. The most important thing is their staff could speak Chinese, so my dad could communicate with them independently. The food is excellent with wide selection. My dad feels that Valley Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is not just a place that he lives; it is a place that he feels like home.

I would like specially appreciate Rocios arrangement for My father in law, Mr. Wu YH, over 90 years old, to stay in this Center. So far he has been staying here for two weeks, he loves everything here. The facility is very clean and no bad smell, the gardens are beautiful. The entire staffs, nurses and social workers are very helpful, friendly, respectful, kind, thoughtful, dependable, and compassionate to my dad. Any questions my dad had were quickly and thoroughly answered. Especially, the Director, Rocio is very professional and exceptional, she is a great leader and always deliver the very best service. The staffs give excellent care along with excellent therapy. The most important thing is that some of their staff could speak Chinese, so my dad could communicate with them independently, For example. Ms, May Wu who always asks my dad for his needs and quickly take action to satisfy his request. The food is excellent with wide selection. My dad feels that Valley Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is not just a place that he lives, but also is a place that he feels like home. Among several nursing homes he has stayed, he firmly agrees this is the best one.

When your 80 year old love one has a stroke during a Pandemic there is a heightened sense of concern for their care and rehabilitation. We were lucky to get a referral to Valley Pointe in Castro Valley, Ca. From our initial consult with the Administrator, Charly, through the weekly updates with the Social Worker, Joanne, we could not have made a better decision for my Dads post stroke care and rehabilitation. The transition from hospital to rehab. and back to his assisted living situation was fluid. The staff including the occupational, physical therapist and nurses kept us well I formed on his progress, and Joanne helped us navigate the equipment he would need upon discharge.Highly recommended!!

My mother was there for a month. She went in after a fall to get physical therapy. The nurses and most staff were friendly. My mom was coherent when she first arrived there. She soon declined and by her fourth week there she was having bad hallucinations and night terrors. She was out of her mind and mean spirited to all her room mates. I spoke to at a minimum 3 staff and finally Dr. Collins about my concern with my mom’s decline since she arrived at valley point. I specifically told all that I believe it was the combination of two medications which treat the same issues. Too much of these type meds along with her onset dementia I believed was the primary cause of mom acting out. Dr Collins said he didn’t believe it was the medication. He also recommended that I keep my mom on the gabapentin when she leaves the rehab. I requested that my mom be seen by a neuropsychologist because of her hallucinations. The neuropsychologist determined my mom had a major neurocognitive disorder due to Lewy bodies. My mom did appear to have all the symptoms as stated in the report but her rapid decline happened while she was at valley point. The worst communication I have ever experienced at a health facility was at valley point. I on many occasions left messages for staff and moms doctor to call and not once did I receive a call back and the only reason I was able to speak to dr Collins was because I was there visiting mom when he stopped by to check on her. I told him I had left many messages to speak with him. He apologized and said he did not receive any messages for him to call me. I was not shocked. My mom came down with pneumonia while at valley point. I requested she be transferred to a hospital. When mom arrived at the hospital the health staff could not wake her up she slept for a full day. Her health then improved daily and rapidly. She was taken off gabapentin and her hallucinations and night terrors are gone. She was seen by another neuropsychologist and he said he saw no symptoms of Lewy body dementia. She is back to herself. I picked up herbelongings at Valley Point. They had put all her items in bags. I left four messages when I noticed pants were missing. As of today I have not heard back. Not surprised. They have a new director and I’m hoping changes will be made such as open communication to family and a line to speak with the doctor providing the care.

My husband and I went on tour at Valley Pointe Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center and found it to have nice appearance; However, the smell was awful, the staff was no where to be found, I found the staff to be unorganized and unprofessional. I witnessed a tug of war and near fight between nurses. My husband and I felt that the energy and vibe where all wrong.
