Called the office to confirm my appointment around lunch time and answering service said they would call me back to confirm if my appt was 3 or 4 pm. Tried calling back several times at 12:53 and at 1:38 and at 2:23; but was left with a hold plz indefinitely. They called me back at 3:10 to say that my appt was at 3:00 and I missed it and had to pay $50 when I showed up at 3:45. Bad office management! Hope they spend my $50 and get themselves an attitude adjustment. I’m a caregiver for the County of SD and have never had such an unexpected and harsh greeting from a Medical office.

The most caring and knowledgeable ophthalmologist around. Always explains everything in detail. Highly recommend.

My office visit with Dr. Bell was one of the best experiences I have had with a physician.I had extensive eye watering and needed to see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. I called on a Friday and was able to schedule an appointment the same day. Before being seen by Dr. Bell there was an issue with my billing. Some doctors might have turned me away. Dr. Bell saw me anyway. It is clear he cares about his patients.Dr. Bell meticulously examined my eyes and diagnosed me with a common eye infection and mentioned it was due to aging. Prescription eye drops were prescribed. In two days 100% of my symptoms were gone.He is very professional, has attention to detail, has great bedside manner, and has a high tech office. Front office staff is great too.

Dr. Bell is very knowledgeable and caring. He puts his findings and advice in terms us non medical folks can understand. He changed the shape of my eyeball to get rid of almost all of my astigmatism. He participates in shotgun sports also and helps us aging shotgunners see well enough to continue in the sport.

Dr. Bell has a great presentation, followed by poor surgical skills. After five surgeries my eyes are worse than when i went to his office. Dr. Bells was less than honest with the problems I had after his lazer surgery and I had to have two other surgeries to correct these problems. He will keep you coming back for months which puts you past the time in which you can file a malpractice suit. What ever you do, do not let Dr. Bill talk you into getting surgeries that will cost you an additional seven thousand dollars to correct your vision problems. My vision is worse than it was when I first went to him.

Rude staff. Called to make an appointment, when asked if there was any chance to get in for a same day appt, I was greeted with a scoff, and then a very rude “umm, ha, no, we don’t even have 5 seconds to spare.” Couldn’t even Muster up the energy to give alternative suggestions. I’ve never encountered this type of greeting from the front desk staff of any medical professional. Really the kind of people you want helping with your health?

Two experiences and a disclosure that Dr. Bell is a personal friend as well as my ophthalmologist.1. Six years ago I tore a retina, the result of being myopic and nearing senior citizenhood. Since Dr. Bell subspecializes in disorders of the cornea and lens, he referred me to a retinologist, Dr. Terence Daly, who squeezed me in as an emergency patient and administered cryotherapy, which successfully prevented my retina from detaching. Bottom line -- Dr. Bell does not try to move beyond his own scope of extensive experience and expertise, and has a superb referral network.2. Dr. Bell is unusually thorough and conscientious in his eye examinations, catching all sorts of seemingly minor details. Nothing escapes his attention.
