Ive seen multiple stylists here and they both have been amazing. Always very nice and polite and really listen to what you want.

I made my first appointment with Sequoia Salon to get my layers fixed after another hair stylist had made extensive use of texturing shears, which left my curly hair looking frizzy. I walked into the salon after Id washed my hair and let it air dry, so Sarah could see how curly the hair is. I showed her photos of previous, excellent cuts, and told her Id like to grow it out to that length (just below the ears) and she assured me she would take off only the very tips to remove the texturing. As she was cutting, I noticed she cut more than the tips and reminded her that I wanted cut only as little as necessary. Unfortunately, when I woke up the next morning, my curls had shrunk (as everyone with curly hair knows will happen after a cut), and there was no connection between my top layer and the rest of my head, so it looked as though I were wearing a flat helmet, and no amount of styling would remedy this. My hair actually looked much better before the cut, and Im very unhappy with it.

Ive never written a review on google or anywhere else for that matter, but Sarah did such a wonderful job on my hair yesterday I felt it was very necessary! Sarah is new to the team, but you would never know that at first glance. She fits right in with her professionalism and has been styling hair for over ~20 years. I went in for a highlight/cut with some harsh overgrowth, as I am a natural brunette disguised as a blonde. I told her I was tired of the upkeep and maintenance of being a blonde, and was ready to go a tad darker with a bronde. And she did just that! It was as if she knew exactly what I had in mind. If youre looking for someone who is professional, competent, and well versed in hair- Sarah is the girl for you!

Alyssa totally saved my hair color after a really terrible experience at another local salon. She was patient and thorough, explaining my options very clearly up front and devising a plan not just for this session but for future to get my color back to where I want long term. I am so in love with my color that I can’t stop looking at my reflection in every shiny surface 😂. Thank you for renewing my faith! The whole team was lovely as well.

The reason you are receiving a 1-star review is a result from your lack of professionalism in regards to an individual with a service animal at your salon. As a business owner, you should be aware of the ADA guidelines, which this patron was in compliance with while you screamed at her and humiliated her in front of several patrons. As per the ADA Guidelines, it states, When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person’s disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task.As a professional in the field of working with individuals with disabilities, I feel as though business owners should be aware of these guidelines, so people with special needs can be accommodated and treated fairly. Im happy to provide more resources if youd like! Have a great day!

I have been a client at Sequoia for several years - and client is really the wrong term - I always feel more like a guest. The staff is warm and welcoming, the environment is stellar - fresh flowers, herbal tea, comfy waiting area, sparkling rest room, and a thoughtfully curated rotating art exhibit by local artists. But the more important part of this review is about the styling. I have had services from several stylists, including Shari (the owner) and most frequently from Rachel, an incredible stylist. Their client service goes way beyond knowledge and skills (which they have in abundance). Their consultation is right on; there is a balance between their advice and my preferences. I always feel listened to, respected, and very special. And I always leave feeling well-treated and beautiful.

I really enjoy Sequoia. I have just recently become part of their customer base but so far I am loving it. I have been to SOOO many hair salons trying to find a place that I like and that has the ability to cut my hair in a style that I am pleased with. And I have finally found that here. Tia is my hair dresser and she is fantastic. She has personality and a skill set. The woman that works the front desk, I feel bad that I cant remember her name, you cant get any better then her. She talked to me for like 10-15 min about products and helping me find what was right and she had fun doing it. The place itself is classy and its quite obvious they have customer service as a priority. Their prices are competitive. I have nothing bad to say about the place.

I really liked the atmosphere. Tia did a really great job taking the random description I gave into a really nice cut and easy style. I think the price is worth it for a pleasant experience, especially when you feel like the hairdresser is taking the time and effort to listen to your input.

This was my first time at this salon. I had scheduled a color consult with Alyssa and a cut with Tia, but there was a bit of a scheduling mixup and when I arrived I learned I was not on the books for my cut. Sherri, the owner, went out of her way to try to make it right, and ultimately Tia was able to see me at my scheduled time. I am beyond pleased with my cut! Tia did a great job. I have wavy hair and tend to get nervous with new stylists who don’t know my hair because I’ve had too many bad cuts in my life, but I could not have been happier with the outcome. Alyssa was knowledgeable about color and gave me great suggestions for a future appointment that I felt really comfortable with and excited about. I feel like I’m always taking a risk when I go to a new salon/stylist, but in this case I’m so glad I did. I’ll definitely be back!

Leah is AMAZING. I’ve been going to her since October 2017 and every time I see her, I walk away absolutely adoring my locks! She is knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and makes you feel like a million bucks after you see her. Especially loving my spring haircut- it’s hard to find people who know how to cut curly hair, I’m so lucky to have found her!

Very cute and nice salon with good people, and a welcoming vibe. I was immediately made to feel at ease and everyone appeared professional and warm at the same time.I got my haircut from Tia, who was lovely. She gave me a trim after she spent some time talking to me about what I wanted that day. It was exactly what I had asked for and the entire process was so pleasant. She styled my hair with soft curls and used a couple of hair products without any extra charges like some salons sneak into your bill. My hair looked great for days afterwards and if I didnt want to swim so much I would have probably not needed to shampoo the entire week!Thank you Sequoia for a great experience and happy holidays!

My former stylist decided to stop cutting hair, so I was searching for a new salon. Ive had a few terrible haircuts, so finding a new salon was a daunting task. From the minute I called and spoke with Bradley to make the appointment to the minute I walked out of the salon, I knew I definitely made the right decision. Tia is AMAZING and not only did she put me at ease but she gave me one of the BEST haircuts Ive ever had. She is professional, friendly, and I had a really nice time getting to know her. I cannot recommend her and Sequoia Salon enough! Thank you so much, Tia!

AMAZING place! I had Shari for my first haircut and color. She is fantastic, very professional and undoubtably has passion for her profession. I was booked for 2-hour appointment, but my hair was in bad shape, Shari made sure that I’ll get great color and haircut that day and end up working with me for almost 4 hours ! (thankfully I was her last client).I also want to add that salon itself is SPOTLESS, modern with great décor. My second appointment was with Alyssa (was not able to see Shari on short notice, she was kind enough to call me in person and after we discussed what I would like to do with my hair recommended Alyssa).Alyssa did a beautiful job, I had balayage, my hair looked gorgeous. She is easy going, knowledgeable and very talented.I highly recommend this place. I moved out of state, but I am planning to drive for 2 hours to get my hair done at Sequoia in couple months.

I imagine Sequoia Salon sees this bad review coming from a mile away. If you dont want backstory cut to the last paragraph.I have had my hair done for 1 and 1/2 years from Leah. The last time there were some mistakes made and then some baffling outcomes. At my last color appointment she left the glaze on for about 30 secs and rinsed it right out, which confused me, but I trusted her. But after a couple hours and talking with a stylist friend they said go have her redo it. It was inconvenient, but okay. I called back that day, made an appt the next day for a consult, everyone agreed, no color had stuck to my hair (I refrained from pointing out it was because the color had been immediately rinsed out). I needed a third appt the next week to have it fixed. Leah said the color just didnt stick, her solution: go mix up more color, douse my hair in it, saran wrap it, and stick me under the heat blower for a half hour.*-None of this is why I am leaving a one star review, I was fine with this because mistakes happen! Well get to the bad review in a moment. This sorta worked but I had explicitly asked for no red tones, I made clear with pictures I wanted a nice brown color underneath and lowlights/highlights w/ no red tones on top. What I got was black underneath and orange/red tones on top. Even my boyfriend who is not aesthetically sensitive to these things noticed how bad it looked and said I should stop going to that stylist! A very out of character statement for him. He said the black on bottom looks nasty and I knew he was right. :_((*-Still not why the bad review.)I decided to see how it ages? Not well, the highlights became brassier, the black underneath stayed just as black. I wondered if she had used permanent dye instead of impermanent glaze. So cut to a couple months later, 2 days ago. This is where it gets UNPROFESSIONAL and why I am leaving a 1 star review:I scheduled an appt with a new stylist to glaze my hair, Alyssa, no cut as I am growing it out after too short a cut. My trust in Leah was faltering. I sat down and showed her the black underneath, told her it isnt what I wanted and asked her: why isnt it lightening like the red which also wasnt what I asked for? I asked if Leah had used permanent dye? how can I fix it? is it just ruined until it grows out? basically: how do I fix this? I said it looks ugly, my partner agrees, and made clear to please put no red in it.She told me they use demi-permanent glaze -stronger than semi- and the only way to lighten it is bleaching and Leah would do that. I said Id rather not because my natural tones, the black tone, and more highlights mixed in will look muddy. So decided to leave it alone and just get a one-color, all-over glaze. No red please. And Alyssa did a great job! I left happy it still looks better than it did before. So thank you Alyssa. However...*It is two days later. I just got a very WEIRD, unexpected call from Sherri, calling to say Alyssa told Leah I badmouthed her. Which I did not, I liked Leah. In fact I had liked all these people so I gave the benefit of the doubt despite not liking the outcome. *This phone call was straight out of high school drama.* I felt pulled into a kind of hypersensitive, in-group, weirdness I want no part of. Sherri said they are a close-knit group there so only she can do my hair from now on...because they were so upset I didnt like what Leah did to my hair! I realize these are hair stylists not accountants but still I expect some level of maturity. This is poor business sense especially in something as customer service oriented and frivolous as a hair salon; to alienate a customer as a result of a poor outcome in the first place is the opposite of what you are supposed to do. So I told Sherri just cancel my future appts. I am not dealing with drama, inability to ask questions and tell them if they mess up my hair, or instruct them on what I want in the first place. Absurdity.*-And no, asking how to fix the hair you messed up does not constitute an unsafe work environment. @_@ Wow. SMH.
