Nice campground, but at $80 a night for non-Massachusetts residents, it exceeds what many campers would consider reasonable.

This review is strictly on area 6X.We LOVE Nickerson! The best family state park! Great swimming, hike trails and biking. Great place for the family to enjoy the outdoors. However, area 6x is not our favorite one and weve stayed at all of them. Its not that bad its just that we would rather stay at other ones like areas. Its far from store, playground and the swimming beach is not the nicest one. I actually think is the worse one from the whole park but, if you like mountain biking, it has great trails near by, it also is peaceful and you have showers at close proximity our site (110) was actually very private and convenient. It had water across from site and bathrooms werent to far.

My friend and I stayed at area 6X this August. Overall the site is clean and near bathroom and shower house. Very important when you have a bunch of kids. It has one big open sandy area where you will find one small fire pit/grill, like the one you would find at a single family site. For a group site I would expect a bigger grill. BBQ on this for a big group takes forever. As a comparison one of the group site at Shawme Crowell State Park offers a big platform grill and it is at waist height. Huge difference. The entrance to the site offers four parking space but it can accommodate up to six if you want. That is a plus. The downside is that the parking area has two big tree stumps, one right in the middle and one on the side. Couple of our cars didnt realize that and drove into them when we first came. Trees are kind of far from the open area. Make sure to bring extra long ropes if you want to set a tarp sheet over there. Same thing if you want to set a tarp sheet over your tent at some of the area.

Nickerson State Park is a jewel among state parks. There are several hundred acres of woods, about two hundred campsites in seven areas, three large kettle ponds, several small ponds, lots of beach, several miles of bike trails and many miles of hiking trails. The campsites are large, nearly all are wooded, and toilets are handy throughout. Water spickets are plentiful, but there are no electrical outlets on the sites. In addition to the activities available at the park (including boat rental), Nickerson is handy to all the activities available on Cape Cod - ocean the beaches, shopping, historic sites, etc.The Massachusetts state park system is excellent in general, and Nickerson is among the best, and it is probably among the best in the nation.

Thoroughly enjoy staying at Nickersons. This was our second year, and we enjoyed the solitude but also the friendly interaction with other families. Park facilities are clean and well kept. Looking forward to our next visit.

Just as magical as I remembered from when we used to camp here as a kid. Way better than a hotel!

The park is very nice. Facilities are maintained well but they should be replaced with new ones. One can see many layers of paint. Actually most facilities have not changed for the last 30 years, at least. The place is very crowded on weekends (when the weather is nice).

Great quiet outdoor camping sight. No electricity. Bathroom and showers provided by park. Overall quite nice. Get reservations for big weekends like 4th of july six months in advance.

Not a bad campground loop at Nickerson State Park, but also not the best. There was a sand beach on big pond that was accessable from the campsite, but it was via a steep switchback trail.
