Tent camped here twice with kids and stayed in a yurt. We love the park. Tons of frogs, insects for little ones but a lot of moths (July) The screened in tent area was nice to put up around picnic table. Moths still got in but limited them. So happy we invested in a fan. Powered by USB charge. Highly recommend for July.Cliff pond is perfect since it’s located inside the park. Our kids loved it. Bring a floaty! We had a sunshade which was nice as well. Pack a little cooler and spend a few hours here. Flax pond is smaller than Cliff pond but also recommend that too.The camp store (area 4) is nice. It’s nice to grab milk or treats from here if you just need a couple things and don’t want to leave park. I suggest breakfast burritos from the corner store (food place) check hours and days open as they close Mon/Tues usually. If you are a cyclist you will most certainly enjoy the trails that cut through the park to the rail trail. Beautiful park. We love coming here. If you are an out of state resident (MA) then prepare on spending more money as they recently added that.Beach Tip: if you have camping parking pass you can use it for the Crosby landing beach nearby. Super nice beach. Park in overflow area and there is a trail that leads to beach. We took beach wagon. It worked out well.
Yes you can go home. As a child I used to go there, always believing I could walk to the ship that was used for Bombing practice far farther off shore than it looked. My uncle told me it finally went down when I saw him 5 yes ago. Now the beach has more rocks then shells, but is beautiful as I remember clean and still seems to go on as far as the eye can see
Just came back from a wonderful stay at Nickerson. Things could not have been better. The sites are large and well appointed with a great fire ring and large table. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Check in was smooth and friendly. I cant wait to return. Thanks for a great weekend.Dave F.
I love this place. Camping is super cheap and easy to book in advance. The camp sites themselves are along the roads and and usually spacious, they include a metal fire pit and a wooden picknick table. Sournding each camp area are showers, bathrooms, and water spigots. There are multiple large ponds that can be crossed by swimming or kayaking from the artificial beaches. Its really nice and a small drive up boat landing makes getting kayaks in super easy. There are also numerous camp biking and hiking trails. This place is loads of fun, I would highly recommend coming for a few days.
The area is great. At 10:00pm its “quite time” everyone needs to be quite and respectful. And it ends at 7:00am around 9:00pm and past 10:00pm they are still being used people are still using music speakers and many people don’t have respect for any others. It may be just these people. The other night another camper had to go to the camp ground and tell them to be quite at around 1:00am. The campground isn’t very respectful when it comes to “quite time”. And many people have been bothered by the noise.
Just came to check out the offerings at the park. We had a great time at the nature centre, and were given a suggestion for a lovely walk. We took a side trip to the playground and enjoyed it very much! Would love to go camping at some point.
We love this place. The lake is beautiful. Area is very clean and well maintained. Also, there were no mosquitoes this time.
One of my favourite places ever!! I have been going there for years. The campsites are great.. Hiking is great.. You can get a hot shower.. Rates are reasonable especially for residents. I frequent there in summer I buy a season pass to use the park and go camping at times to get away. And its basically in my backyard.
Absolutely awful. They literally are trying to charge people 30 just to come in and have the audacity to try to charge people 75 to camp there. And they literally said the reason they raised the rate to 75 was to discourage people from coming which Im pretty sure isnt exactly legal. I would advise everyone to stay away from this disgrace.
Wonderful park. Great management team. Flax pond nice beach and a wonderful place to swim. You can get a great workout on the bike trails as well.
Excellent place to hide from it all and a little piece of heaven. Ponds, campsites, people. Opportunities to get out to the ocean or bay side while still enjoying the experience of camping.
First time, I came here, I hated it. We came in bikes off the rail trail and got lost. The parks bike paths were full of hills. I havent rode a bike in the last 5 yrs. The second time, we drove around and found all these beautiful beaches! Definitely would recommend for a camping trip or a day at the beach. The ponds are more warmer than the beach
AMA bug campsite and facilities. Connects to the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Walking distance to the beach. Ponds inside the park offer beach, paddle boarding and fishing
Standard camping experience, beautiful views of the forest canopy from below. The ponds are clean and theres walking and biking trails, the latter of which connect to the CCRT, a bike trail that spands over three towns.
A beautiful park with nice trails to the ponds. Its just a shame that the park has to gouge people from out of state with such high prices. Locals $22 out of state $75 for the same site. Its the tourist that bring money into the community. We wont be coming back as we can find just as nice of a Park for way less.
We stayed in area 4 (areas 6 and 7 are closed due to Covid-19). The description said it was a gravel site with full shade. However, when we arrived in our RV, we found the exact opposite. It was in full sun and sandy. Other than that, there are several nice pond with hiking trails all around. We also had our bikes and were able to ride to the other camping areas to scope them out. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.
Go check it out, its 👌👌👌 and we loved it. Great place, nice and clean.
This is the best camping spot in all of Massachusetts. Definitely check this spot out if you are looking for a great place to camp and meet new people. They have lots of trails, a pond and a small shop in the park.
Great camping spot.... Check-in process could use improvement though. Stuck in 1996, actually it didnt take this long to check people in in 1996 either. It shouldnt take 15 minutes to check in each group. Line of 30 people waiting and it just keeps growing. Step it up Nickerson, be better. Official time taken to check in. 27 minutes 30 seconds ........ Unacceptable.
This is my favorite place to go camping on the Cape.Big sites with space between them so you really feel like you have some room to unfurl with your friends and family.Fire pits allow for campfire cooking and the camp store sells firewood. The best part are the ponds and beaches though. Higgins and Little Cliff are my personal favorites although this can change is water levels rise from flooding or there is abundant algae growth. If you snorkel, there are fish, turtles and frogs or tadpoles to see depending on the time of year you visit.
Walked 30 miles of the CCRT(cape cod rail trail) from Higgins Crowell rd. in Yarmouth all the way out to Nickerson/Brewster and steath-camped here.
Clean bathrooms and showers. Access to some very nice ponds. Friendly, helpful staff.Sites oddly shaped and not level. Sandy/dusty surface.
Cliff Pond Loop Trail was perfect, well marked, and clear
Nickerson is one of my favorite locations on Cape. There are a ton of hiking trails. All with equally beautiful views. Recently went camping for the 1st time here with our Weeblo den from Harwich Cub Scout pack 76. We had a great time. Only down side was we had to buy a ton of wood to keep the fire going as long as we wanted to. (Open fire cooking is a requirement for a badge.) Wood was $7 a bundle and it burned quickly. Ended up buying at least 7 bundles in a day. ( For understandable reasons you can only buy wood from them.) That is the only negative thing I can say. I do truely recommend making this a stop if your here on the Cape. Fall is my favorite time for hiking here. Also if looking for a pretty and somewhat easy hike for with kids Little Cliff Pond is perfect.
I Biked thare it was fun but the Road thare was Is Ralph rough Rough
I maintain this is the best campground in New England. Theres a reason people come here for 10+ years 😊
Nice campground and close to many beaches of course. Early September no crowds everything is still open and the weather and water is still warm🙂👍🍺
Very beautiful. Practical campground with everything you need : kids playground, bushy camp site for privacy (most of them), practical facilities (washrooms, showers, dump station...), direct access to the Cape cod rail bike trailYou can stay on the park and Crosby Beach and have your vacations full !
It’s a really good place to stay in, very calm and the views are amazing!!! I simply love this place a lot.
Beautiful place to go. Water is so clean.
Pretty flat to hike around, plenty of pond views. There were signs up saying not to swim in the water because of a cyanobacteria and algea bloom but then there was also a bunch of people swimming in it so I am not sure if they were old signs?
I enjoy Nickerson State Park mostly because of the crystal clear ponds. You can see grains of sand through 4+ feet of the water. Also having beach access is the best of both worlds! On low tide you can walk for what seem a good half mile to the water. Great for young children. Being located in the middle of Cape Cod is super convenient for all the Cape has to offer. The park is clean, no trash laying around. The bathrooms are acceptably clean. The shower stalls were clean, but the mixer valve in the stall I used, did not mix any cold water in it, so I had a scoldingly hot shower! The staff was friendly. Having the Cape Cod Rail Trail connected to the front of the park is an awesome feature, especially if you have small children. Nice flat trails. The parks bike trails in comparison can be treacherous for inexperienced bicyclists, as the trails are hilly and can have sharp turns at the bottom of some of those hills. There are dishwashing stations in the front of some of the bathrooms in the park, Area 1 bathroom did not. Thankfully I remembered to bring my dishwashing basins. All in all, Nickerson is a great State Park in an Awesome location!!!
Absolutely the best, fun to be hired on all levels, from camping to date tripping. Try it for rentals.
Loved the on the water spot! Easy access for my kayak.
Beautiful state park with lakes and cozy beaches. No motorized water sports allowed, so its nice and quiet.
I have been camping at Nickerson state Park for 2 weeks and I think this place is great a d very easy to camp at the temperatures are comfortable and there are beaches everywhere. There are also kayak and paddle board rentals which are very fun. This place was a zBlast to camp at hopefully I will come here agakn next year
I recently went to book this Massachusetts State Park campsite near Cape Cod National Seashore. Dry camping site was $22 MA residents, $77 for non-residents. PASS. In fact, I’ll fill up my gas in Connecticut and go ahead and just drive through the state without stopping or spending a dime anywhere.
I really liked the place without a doubt one of my favorite places to camp and enjoy nature
We spend nice day on this place. We love it!
Amazing ponds, trails, location to Beaches.
Great spot. Out of state rates for camping are a bit ridiculous but it’s a self contained vacation spot with swimming, biking and camping.
Nice camping area but there is poison ivy everywhere so be careful. Bathrooms and showers are clean and the sites are average size.
Big comfy campsites a lot more we could have exploded
My father and I and a friend go there every summer i loved the place since i went there and i like they have a lake close by and we enjoy the camping .I look forward to go there every summer and enjoy the nature thats around and the bathrooms are always clean .I feel like Im at home when we are there and confterable with the staff and the showers are amazing .If you have kids you should goBut you have to make plans 6 months advance .But this year we could do 4 mouth advance .
Beautiful park, trails are well kept and easy to maneuver
So serene and clean atmosphere.
One of our favorite places to camp in the Northeast! Wonderful swimming, boating, biking, beaching!! Takes a little effort to figure out which sites have or are near pond access as they do not show it well on the map. We love the super beautiful and private beach at Area 7. Just a short hike (5-7m) through the woods from the campsite area.
Great camping 🏕spot .kid friendly.
Great camping spot on the cape! Bike trails and ponds and trails and beaches and outdoor bathrooms.
We really enjoyed our stay! The people are so friendly and the staff in the main office are super helpful and knowledgeable. Here’s plenty of room in between camp sites but you do have neighbors that you can see. Bathrooms were cleaned often which I was thankful for. Overall we had a great experience!
Awesome place to relax, fish, swim, and most importantly be with family and friends.
This place is wonderful, but....it doesnt have recycling bins!!!
Great stop for all of your outdoor joys and needs. Ponds are crystal clear and lovely for swimming. The bike trails through the lush pines will bathe you in all the lovely scents of nature. Be up for a challenge though, if you plan to bike the park--the hills are intense! Pull off the rail trail for a jump in a pond to cool off, its such a treat!
The clear water ponds are beautiful and large. Perfect for swimming, kayaking, or fishing. Like to camp? Make a reservation, its a popular place. Roads are paved, as is a bike trail through the woods. Dogs are allowed! I visit there year round for walks and forest enjoyment. Once you are 65 and a Mass resident, you can buy a pass for day visiting very inexpensively.
Nice campsites, ponds, trails, rail trail for biking, close to the ocean.
I cant speak about the camping, but the bike trails are amazing.
Great place for camping in the middle of the wood. Also the lake has some me sandy beach so great with the kids. A lot of bike trail around to enjoy the landscape
Trees, bugs, ponds, bike path, less than a mile to the beach and delicious Cobies. Just around the to Orleans! Its my backyard so keep it clean.
