Update in response: This waiver is NOT intended to be medical or religious exemption. The university allows for students to decline the flu vaccine. The waiver only needs to be signed by the physician in acknowledgement that the student waived their right to get the vaccine.Dont think that just because they are integrative physicians that you have a choice in your healthcare. They literally force vaccines on you and make you feel inferior if you chose not to get it. I did not and will not get the flu vaccine and needed a flu vaccine waiver signed by a physician for school. This does not require an appointment (I have already seen them twice this year for a physical and a lab result review, and had appointment already scheduled for follow up lab review). The respond I got from the nurse when she called back was that Dr Brainard will not sign a flu waiver because she said I need to get the flu vaccine. Basically doesnt matter that i dont want the flu vaccine and its doesnt matter that for the last 2 years Flu hasnt been an issue since COVID came along. She suggested i set up a tele-health to explain to Dr Brainard my concerns. These physicians are your typical medical doctors. Nothing integrative about them. They care more about their pocket than you.

Doctor Deb Coupland is very caring person. I am very pleased with the way she handles all, she takes time making sure all my questions answered. I am not familiar with the system and she has been very detailed with me making sure I understand what I need to do, where I need to go and who I need to call. I appreciate that, thank you.

My mom has been going to this place for many years. She has really deep relationships with her care providers. But she was told that the management has changed so the staff are under pressure now. The provider no longer has enough time for her, not able to review her records, or to patiently discuss her concerns. Each time she was given just a few minutes, which made the visits less helpful and totally not like the past. I am searching for another family clinic for her.

I have been a patient for years, and up until today have been very happy with them. I called on monday to be seen. Low grade fever, sinus pressure, stuffy nose, tightness of chest when breathing, deep bark like cough. They would not see me because I am sick, so had tele appointment. She said befor she can treat my symptoms, I neede a negative covid test. Got test neg, they want xrays, did xrays they call and want me to take two over the counter meds that I have allergic reactions with. So the only remedy is a saline rinse of nose twice a day. So disappointed in how this practice is being run as of late...

My daughter is a patient here. I called to make her an appointment because she is sick (sore throat). I was told by the very rude office staff that they would not see her because she was sick. This is her primary care doctors office but they wont see sick patients. However I was told she could do a telehealth appointment the next day late afternoon or go to a walk in clinic. Due to the pain she is having from the sore throat we chose the walk in clinic. Dr. Notman is great and that is the only reason she has continued with this practice. If she ever leaves we will definitely be finding a new primary care doctor

This was a great practice and loved the holistic approach And Dr until I called to be seen for a sinus infection this week. I was told they aren’t seeing any patients with upper respiratory issues due to covid and for the safety of their patients/staff. The safety and health of their sick patients is obviously not important to them. I was denied an apt and told to go to urgent care.Perhaps more patient friendly solutions like Telehealth, on site drive up or a separate wait room for well vs sick visits as a lot of other offices have would be a more positive solutions instead of feeling kicked out for being sick; which is why you go to the dr to begin with. None of these solutions were offered to me.

I am student doing my externship at this facility and all of the providers are awesome. They treat every patient as a human and really listen to their conditions, they dont treat them as just another number. Working behind the scenes the staff is always making sure patients are being seen on time . This is a one stop shop there are many different specialties within the building that could fit your needs, ex. (massage therapy , acupuncture, hormone therapy with pellets etc). I am very happy with this facility and would strongly recommend it to anyone.

**UPDATE: I did have the front office manager and the practice manager contact me about this review. They were eager to understand what all had happened and wanted to express how sorry they were for the experiences Id had. Both of the ladies were very helpful and wanted to make sure they fully understood all that had happened so that they could properly address the issues with the staff. That being said, my post is based on my experiences Ive had thus far and still stands as my review.__________________Not to be harsh, but this is one of the worst practices Ive ever been to. Rude front desk staff, horrific wait times, medical staff with a host of poor attitudes (some thinking they know more as an NP that a double-board certified doctor) and more. I honestly cant remember ever having a great experience with anyone at this practice, except for a few of the medical assistants.

I have been delaying switching doctors because it such a pain, but now enough is enough. I would like to forewarn others. Bradenton East is very difficult to work with. They refuse to give refill or send prescriptions over the phone. Even though I was just seen 3 days ago. They always insist that you come in They mis- diagnosed me twice now. I have better luck going to walk in clinics. Save yourself co-pays, time, and frustration. Find a different doctor.

I loved the idea of this place, but the one visit I had didnt impress me overall. I have had the same issues with follow-up as another reviewer on here... they did a test and Ive called twice since to get the results, with NO return phone call (its now two months since my visit).I also was hoping for a more holistic mindset but found that when the nurse practitioner brought their new doctor in, he acted like my suggestion that a skin issue Ive been having is a sign of something systemic rather than just dry skin was a dumb idea and acted quite condescending in communicating that to me. Im going to check out Community Acupuncture in St. Pete and hoping they have a more collaborative and respectful mindset with patients...

Saw doctor on Dec 13th and was told I have bronchitis. Given some medicine. Called back this morning right at 8:30 when they opened. I told them I need to see someone today because I am not getting better. I explained that I am feeling horrible. I begged to see anyone because I am so sick. I was told there were no appointments available today and I could come in tomorrow. I again explained how sick I am and was told to either take tomorrows appointment or go to urgent care. Having recently moved here from N.H., I have never called my doctors office explaining that Im feeling so bad and been told that I cannot be seen till the next day. If they do not have enough staff to see a patient who is under their care, then maybe they need to hire more people. I will have to go to urgent care to get help even though I have a doctor and whos care Im supposedly under. Never had such an odd experience concerning a doctors office.

I really like Dr. Brainard and hope that she can help me. Im writing this review to hopefully help other patients and myself receive higher level of communication and customer service from nursing staff. Im very frustrated with running around getting lab work completed promptly, to have lab results and important information just sitting for days in the office waiting for the Dr. to sign off. I call and leave several messages with the nurse and no call back for days! I suggest hiring maybe a few more nurses to help with some these issues. When your sick and not feeling well and cant figure out what the problem is, specially for a long period of time it becomes hopeless and depressing. The last thing me or any other patient needs to stress about is lack of response or reasonable customer service from the nursing staff.

I highly recommend acupuncture at Bradenton East Integrative Medicine! I have seen Dr. Sylvia for acupuncture treatments since November 2018. Before I began, my pain level was a 10+ from injuries sustained during Irma and a fall. Though I had seen eight different medical doctors in the last year for my pain (stomach, left hip and back, neck, feet), I had not received any release. Results with acupuncture, however, were immediate! I have received and am maintaining a pain level of 0-1.When I first started treatments, I went twice a week for three weeks, then once a week. Currently, I am going every two weeks. I will soon be at maintenance with once a month. The rates are comparable to other places with a 50% off discount for every 5th visit. The treatments start each time with a face-to-face consultation with Dr. Sylvia. She assesses the areas and severity of pain and then explains how to do things at home for better health. She is very thorough and attentive with time and the treatments. The needles do not hurt, but rather have a sensation of pressure for a few seconds. Once the needles are in place, Dr. Sylvia provides a quiet, restful place to heal and let the needles do their work. The night of acupuncture and the next day are harder on my body, but I bounce back better than I was before the treatment.I didnt realize how chronic pain negatively affects everything about life, but now that I am pain-free, I sleep better, digest food more efficiently, have energy for the entire day, have patience towards others, and see things in a positive way. I recommend acupuncture for the well-being of the entire person. I also recommend Dr. Richard Rogan for chiropractic treatments (once a month) and Kahla Zeimis for Massage Therapy (also monthly). The three threatments, working together, have given me back my life! Be well ~

I have had 5 visits at the office now, trying to be patient every time hoping I would get some answers. All I got was hour plus long waits, huge bill every time because I had to buy their supplements and today topped it off. I sat in the waiting room for 1 hour and 15 minutes. My appointment was to get results for lab work done that cost me $500 out of my pocket. I finally get called back and the nurse tell me I may have a little wait because there are two people still ahead of me. OMG I have already waited 1 hr and 15 minutes. I told her this and said I couldnt wait anymore. They offered me a VIP appointment tomorrow (apparently todays were POS ). I said I wanted my records and test results, they refused to give them to me. I WILL be following up tomorrow and it wont be good for them. I am so mad at how I tried to trust them and the $1000+ they have got from me in just a few visits. What a joke of a medical practice.

If it werent for Robin James, I would have left a long time ago! My mom fell and broke her hip I needed FMLA paperwork filled out and they charged me a visit to do this because I didnt bring my mom!So I go back today and I cant of course get into Dr Brainard or Robin due to the short notice. I needed to send the paperwork in asap! So they had me see Dr NotmanFirst of all Terrible bedside manner, she treated me like I was lying about my mom and needed to see her before she would do anything and wanted new paperwork, thats not how it works, my mom was just in a week before for a follow up after surgery! She had been about a week earlier complaining about dizziness and told Dr Notman who told her she had crystals in her ear! Instead of recommending her to go to a ENT she gave her exercises for her to do which DID NOTHING!!!She ended up with Vertigo and fell and broke her hip :(All Im trying to do is to be there for her and I dont get paid from work, so I dont understand why she had to be so difficult and uncaring and just plain mean!! Oh and that will be 61 dollars!I will be finding a new doctors office sorry Robin I will truly miss you and thank you for everything and Also for Katlyn the nice checkout receptionist who actually cared about my experience and didnt want me to leave so upset until I talked with someone else!So I have nothing good to say about Dr Notman!PSThose of you that work for Bradenton East Intergrated medicine that review this dont bother responding because you cant say anything to defend her she is just plain awful!!

Review №24

First of all I have never written a bad review on anyone or anything. I am a practicing Engineer who relocated to FL about a year and a half ago and had to find a primary doctor for my family. I mention my profession because in my 35 year career, I have never experienced being treated the way I was with this practice. I started off with the Nurse Practitioner as my primary care giver. I soon found myself being lectured to and talked down to, rather than consulted with, so I transferred over to Dr. Brainard. I did notice an improvement at first but soon found the same style of being talked down to and lectured was coming from the doctor. I know doctors can have egos so I decided to just let it go. That is until we had an insurance issue. My wife was also seeing Dr. Brainard and Dr. Brainard suggested that she take a certain DNA test, called Alpha Genomix. Bear in mind, this test is for the doctor, in order for her to be able to determine what medicines to prescribe. Perhaps that should have been our first red flag. Our first question about this was, “Was it covered by insurance?”. The doctor left the room to check and when she came back we were told it was. A few months pass and we received a bill for $500, for the test because it was rejected by our Blue Cross insurance, which they had submitted it to. We tried to discuss this with Dr. Brainard, the person who told us it was covered, and were told it should have been partially covered and what we were looking at was a copay. When we asked her to look more closely at the bill, which showed that the test had not been covered, and the $500 was not a co-pay, we were handed off to an assistant, who told us she would look into it and get back to us in a few days. Two weeks later, having heard nothing, we called her to follow up only to get a return voice mail telling us that she never told us she could do anything about it except talk to her office manager, and the office manager was not willing to do anything. Subsequently my wife posted our dissatisfaction with the situation. Only then did we get a call back from Dr. Brainard leaving us a rambling and somewhat incoherent message first stating that the test would be covered, just not 100%, then later on in the message saying that she is not aware of insurance coverage at all, because she is a doctor, and it would not be covered. Both cannot be true. Finally, she said she was going to have Alpha Genonix send us forms to see if we qualify for financial hardship. How incredibly ignorant of her. Additionally, as the owner of this business, she must have SOME idea about insurance, but that doesn’t fit the narrative, so she just made things up, not even realizing they were contradictory. All I can say is that I was raised to believe that doctors were supposed to be advocates for the sick, and to look after their patients. This practice is not that kind of practice. This doctor is not that kind of doctor. This is nothing but a business. Make no mistake about that. How many people can we see, how much can we bill and what products can we sell them, whether they need them or not, and if they run into an issue, keep pushing them off until they give up and go away. At this point, we have repeatedly been lied to by Dr. Brainard as she tries to distance herself from what she told us initially. If you are looking for a good doctor, this is not the business for you.

My whole family (my husband, daughter and I) were patients of Dr. Brainard, and thought we had found a good doctor. Unfortunately, as time progressed, it became clear that all she is interested in is the money. She continually suggested that I try her own brand of stocked herbs and supplements, which never worked for me, and which were overpriced. The last straw for us, was when she recommended Alpha Genomix testing to see what medicines I should be taking, because I was having issues with anxiety. I SPECIFICALLY asked her if the testing was covered by insurance. My husband was in the room, and remembers this as well. Dr. Brainard left the room to check to see, and came back and said yes it was. Months later, we started receiving bills from Alpha Genomix, for $500. I brought documentation from both Alpha Genomix and Blue Cross showing that the testing was not covered. I gave this paperwork to Dr. Brainards nurse, Lindsay. Dr. Brainards nurse Lindsay also said that we were not the only ones that this had happened to. When asked about this, Dr. Brainard said that $500 was the copay, which it clearly was not. When I showed her the paperwork, she walked away, and told Lindsay to look into it. Lindsay said it would take a few days to get back to me. After a week of hearing nothing, I called Lindsat back, and Lindsat backtracked to say that it is not their policy to make payments back. So there you have it, a doctor and office who do not stand behind what they say. I am going to file with the Better Business Bureau. I would steer clear of this practice, they are not honorable. In a final bit or irony, the anxiety that I went to Dr. Brainard to treat, is much worse now due to all of the worrying about this bill.***********************12/28/17- Update: Got a call from Dr. Brainard wherein she explained that it is her job to be a doctor, not to know about insurance. REALLY???? YOU LEFT THE ROOM TO ASK SOMEONE ELSE IF IT WAS COVERED, AND THEN CAME BACK IN THE ROOM AND TOLD US THE ANSWER- WHICH WAS YES. The response below from the practice below is also disingenuous. Might I add that when she recommended a nutritionist for our daughter and we asked if that was covered, she knew without missing a beat that no, it wasnt covered, and that it was $110 per hour. So, she seems to pick and choose what she says she knows, and what she says she doesnt. She also noted in her voice mail, that we said she said it was covered 100%. We never said that, that is her trying to change the narrative. We asked if it was covered, and she said it was. In my complaint to the BBB, I noted that we would be just looking for a reasonable resolution. Obviously, none is to be found at this establishment. Further in the response below is that they dont put the Alpha Genomix testing through insurance. THEY DID PUT OURS THROUGH INSURANCE. I brought the paperwork that THEY had submitted, from Blue Cross, and Dr. Brainards nurse, Lindsay took a copy of the statement from Blue Cross, showing that it was not covered. Further proof that they are not being honest. Buyer beware!**************Update 1/4/18- update on Dr. Response below. Comment that Dr. Brainards nurse tried to contact us multiple times. This is an out and out lie, and I have the phone records to prove it. She didnt call back until I left a message on her nurse line asking why I hadnt heard back. Her response was that she hadnt called back because she had not heard back from Alpha Genomix. I have my phone records and the voice mail.

All the doctors Ive seen here have been rude and dismissive towards me, with the exception of Dr. Kinga Porter and RN Robin James. I assume this is because when i was a teen, Dr Brainard gave me a drug test that came up positive for morphine despite my insistence that this couldnt be possible and begging to retake it. She didnt even respond to these, and i didnt even think it would be an issue until i came back to this office and a woman who id never even seen before told me she wouldnt fill one of the scripts i came in to get (both of which i have been prescribed in the past and taken without problem) responding ONLY with Well it says here you tested positive for morphine before. i was shocked i left the office in tears and never came back.
