My dog almost died under this places care. Please, please, if you love your dog, I beg you do NOT take them to this place. My dog was misdiagnosed with Addisons disease and ended up being hospitalized. I was trying to save a few bucks and will never do that again. Back to Braden River Animal Hospital, where I know they will always do the right thing and have competent, NICE staff.

Won’t be back to this place. Front desk woman should be fired. We brought a perfectly healthy puppy in for a round of shots, within 48hours the puppy has gotten sick and is having trouble walking. And was instructed they were to busy, the vet can’t talk and maybe they could get me in next week. Save your time and money and go somewhere that actually cares for the well being of the animals.

Dr. Gartenberg and his staff took excellent care of my cat, Jinx. From the moment i called, the receptionist was very kind, respectful, empathetic and caring. My encounter in the office with the staff was also a memorable one. The staff here truly cares about the well being of the pets they care for and you can truly tell they are passionate about what they do. Thank you Dr. Gartenberg & staff for taking excellent care of Jinx❤️We will certainly return for all of our future needs.

The front staff at The Pet Clinic are horrible…very unprofessional and rude. I’ve witnessed the front desk staff answer a call and after speaking for a moment put the call on hold….then screaming at the phone expletives about the caller in ear shot of all sitting in the waiting area. After one year of taking our dog there we had to put him down. There was no compassion shown by anyone. Dr Gartenberg gave our baby a shot to sedate him. The poor guy yelped and jumped up in pain, a sight I cannot erase from my mind. There was nothing comforting or any measures taken to make the experience as tender as possible. Once Willie was gone I was handed his records and told to stop at the desk on my way out. Not one staff member expressed any condolences or even said as much as “I’m sorry”. A woman in the waiting room stood up and said “you look like you need a hug” which was exactly what I needed. We did get a handed written letter from Dr. Gartenberg a couple days after the event which was very kind and heartfelt but it doesn’t take away the memory of how horrible the experience was.

Have taken our 14 yr old dog here a few times, when we are here in the winter. He became severely ill with cancer so his health is failing. Called this place last week and we were told to bring him in when ready. So he did have a few good weeks. Started having seizures and last one he couldn’t walk. Made 3 calls to this fine establishment and were told, “to busy today honey take him somewhere else!” What!!!! So we did and I would never recommend this place to anyone!! How can you turn patients away???

Shockingly rude front desk. Turning away customers because “they are so busy”. 3 months for new customers I was told while she was laughing. “As if” behavior.

The receptionist (the older woman) is extremely rude and should not be in a position where she interacts with customers. My pet requires a low-protein diet and the food I need to order is prescription only. However, since The Pet Clinic never responded to the multiple requests for authorization to fulfill my online order, my order is now being cancelled. I am NOT pleased and will not be returning here. Its a shame since Im new to the area and was hoping this vets office would work out for my four fur babies.

So far as my experience, 20 years in Sarasota, Fl, the most reliable and adequate prices for citizens around the area, my two German shepherds got the care and attention, no doubt about that, there is a lot people always to see this doctor, and the reason is he do his duty well.

Did not make it past the RECEPTIONIST!!! omg soo RUDE!!!! After talking on the phone with her I was so shocked with how rude she was that I started to read the google reviews to see if it was just me that had a bad experience. Well no, there’s a lot of bad reviews about the receptionist. I don’t understand why the owner or medical director of this place chooses to ignore all these bad reviews about the receptionist. A receptionist is the first impression and the face of the clinic and OBVIOUSLY this woman is not the right fit for it! I needed new appointment for my dog and this woman flat out with the rudest attitude said we don’t have anything available until the end of March!?!?!?!?!? I understand a clinic can be busy and “popular” but seriously 3 months? Not to mention how rude she was talking to me with an attitude like she really does not want you to come in at all! Meanwhile All I’m trying to do is find a good vet for my dog. I will never be calling this place again.

My mom who is 60 took her cat in there today and not a single staff member was wearing a mask. With cases rising in the area it’s just out right disrespect. I used to love this office and trusted this Vet 10000 percent but now i’m probably going to go elsewhere until the pandemic is over .

I cannot express my appreciation enough for the pet clinic. They have saved many of my pets lives more than I can count and do not over charge like most places. The Vet is so knowledgeable and compassionate. You can feel how much he loves animals and how much he wants to help them. I recommend to anyone and everyone for their pets.

My husband went in to get medication for our dog. He had to wait for a 15 or 20 minutes because the waiting room was full. Some of the people waiting were not wearing masks, none of the employees were, and Dr. Gartenberg wasnt wearing a mask either. My husband is high risk for severe Covid-19. Totally irresponsible! This is the last time we go there!

I really dont know how to rate this today. This afternoon I took my dog in for her annual appointment. I walked in wearing my mask and none of the employees, including the doctor was wearing a mask. An elderly lady said something, and the snarky receptionist replied they arent required in Manatee County. Never did I expect walking into a medical office would I be put at risk for a highly contagious and deadly virus. Whenever I go to Publix, Costco or Walmart everyone wear a mask. Why would I even think Id be exposed at a medical office. Of course I had my 3 layer mask on. My mom and dad are 89 and 90 and are ill. I cant take a chance of exposing them to this illness. There were elderly clients in there and the office personnel had no concern for what they might be exposing them to. I post this so that anyone reading it will not find themselves in the same situation as me - do I leaved because they are reckless or do I get my dog her annual exam, shots and meds. I stayed, but not happy or comfortable about it. So today is 1star, in the past I was always happy, but his is literally a matter of life and death. I expect a medical man to respect science.

I never got past the receptionist! The rudest most condescending lady I’ve ever spoken to. I called to make an appointment to get my dogs teeth cleaned. I’ve never met the doctor but the office was referred by a close friend. She made the appointment and was a little rude during that conversation but I blew it off to maybe she was having a bad day! Then she called back to confirm two weeks later. The message she left on my voicemail had the wrong name for my dog she literally said the wrong name. So I called back and I said I just wanna make sure you have the correct information on my dogs chart. I said it very nicely I was not upset at all in fact I was kind of giggling because the name she used was Kiwi. She said very condescendingly “if I said the wrong name it wouldn’t have anything to do with the treatment they were giving the dog”. 😳 I then asked if I would be able to talk to anyone when I drop my dog off to get details about the procedure or do I need to ask her? She said “ you should’ve asked the doctor when you met him. “ she said it so rude. I never met him!!! Needless to say I just canceled the appointment. I hear the doctor is good but I never got a chance to meet him.

The Dr and his staff are so caring and such nice people! Ive known Chet for awhile and that he works in a pet clinic. So when my mom needed her aged cat to be seen I brought them here and unfortunately snoopers didnt make it, only because he was older and to far gone, but the staff made the experience more pleasant! I have been taking my dogs to Dr Gartenburg for a couple years now. They are very compassionate. Dr Gartenburg has a great feel for the animals. The prices are reasonable. They are not like the vets that charge you $500 to walk in the door. When I lost my cavalier king charles spaniel on Easter sunday, he met me at the clinic at noon. The kindness and compassion he showed meant so much to me.

This Vet will be seriously missed when he retires. Not many vets really put the animals first like this guy does and it shows. His clinic isnt like the fancy new clinics that have popped up (franchises). Hopefully he will take his replacement alongside and teach him to follow his manners and style. I like this vet so much I drive at least 20 miles round trip for his services. Also his prices are never shocking like other vets are charging.

The absolute best, the only vet I will go to. Dr. Gartenberg is the best. I had to have my cat put down and he saw her without an appointment on a Saturday and let me take a thousand years to make a decision and say goodbye.

Used to love it here until I was told to come into the back with my dog when she had to get stitches out of her stomach & while the girl was doing it she stopped mid way through to talk on the phone about concert tickets!! While having me hold my dog as she is wiggling and she is chatting on the phone about tickets taking my dogs stitches out barely paying attention. Not professional at all. After that I don’t trust my dogs there to be honest.

Before we moved to Georgia Dr. Paul Gartenberg was our vet for around 10 years! This man is by far the best Vet I have ever known all around!! Kind hearted with great skills and a wonderful Person! I miss him and his Clinic and will never forget him! Got his Vet Degree at the best College in Florida!!

Dr. G is wonderful! I had a walk in emergency and was amazed at how courteous everyone was. He diagnosed my cats issues, gave me med with instructions. He is now my primary vet.

Having lived in several states and having multiple pets, I have never found such a caring animal clinic as this one. When we had our pets pass, this clinic and Veterinarian care so much that I received a personal letter from him as a condolence. Most recently my Boxer was in for a minor surgery on her ear. She was well taken care of. I was given clear instructions on follow up and when to bring her in for stitch removal. This place is top notch!

I was pleasantly and completely shocked with the cost of getting my dogs shots up to date and a checkup... Place is always busy so make reservations! Total worth it! Staff is wonderful and caring!

Doc is kind and gentle, very knowledgeable and the most compassionate vet Ive ever met, whether its an emergency or a scheduled visit.All of their services are reasonably priced and the staff are a helpful pleasure.

I took my 11 year old dog here and woman at the front desk is awful and they took my dogs blood work and they said they would have the results tomorrow but it took a week and the employees are not wearing masks and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!

Dr Gartner is wonderful. He is caring and kind to my dogs, one of whom is difficult and bites. He is also very practical and conservative with treatment. I love this practice.

My mother has been taking her dogs there for years. The vet is excellent and the prices are very reasonable.On the other hand, RUDEST STAFF EVER! My mother called with concern for one of her dogs and the receptionist was EXTREMELY rude to her. My mom is terminally ill and does not deserve to be treated like this by anyone! If I could have climbed through that phone line I would have. Some day that rude receptionist will encounter someone who will make the trip to take care of her attitude in person.

This is a very good vet and very well run facility. The staff are very nice and have great personalities, I dont know how other reviewers can say they are rude, they are very personable and very real not like some other places Ive been to where its all a show... The vet personally will follow up with you by phone about your pet if it was sick or had to have tests done. Very genuine and honest he is. All of the vets should be like this and there not. There is only one vet here, unlike other facilities where theres a new person all the time and multiple vets. Theres a reason why everyone in town wants to come here and they are very busy because of that. Great job.

On November 21st, 2016, I took my dog to this clinic, because she is limping.. The doctor prescribed a medication for her pain, without knowing that she already had a kidney problem. The med was so strong that made her kidney problem worsen. She stopped eating, was drinking tons of water, urinating everywhere and vomiting all the time.. I took her back. He took X-Rays and blood sample. X-Rays were normal. The blood test, did indeed, showed a kidney disease. But he never offered any treatment for her. He totally ignored her disease saying that it was something very minor!! I took her to another veterinarian, where they flushed out her kidneys for three days in a row, and put her on antibiotics, since she got a urinary infection from the med he gave her! Thanks to God and the other Veterinarian, she is slowly, getting back to normal, and eating again.

Dr. Gartenberg is the best. He has taken care of my cats for the past 8 years. He is a compassionate and caring Veterinarian. I have never had a Veterinarian that takes the time to actually call you at 7:00 or later at night to update you on how your animal is doing. When I had to have my loving Precious put to sleep after battling a thyroid condition he was there for me with a consoling hug and reassurance that we had done everything that we could do for her. Thank you Dr. G. You are a special person to me.

Tried to call for an emergency appt. Call service said i have to leave a message and call during normal business hours. Left a voicemail that never got returned. Called during office hours and got the same answering service.

Ive been going here for years. The change in staff is terrible. Very rude now. They will not check their messages or return calls. The excuse was we dont know how to use the new system. The Dr. Was also rude and thinks that you should just keep calling back is an acceptable answer. Very poor customer service. I will never go here again.

I genuinely don’t understand how the receptionist here still has a job. She is very rude and nasty over the phone and makes every experience with this place so awful. I am a receptionist as well (at another place) and I am horrified in the way she talks to people. I know multiple people who have changed vet offices because of her and they warn others to stay away which is exactly what I will do, that lady will get the karma coming to her.

I promise youll never be happier with any other veterinarian. The office staff treats you like family and the Doctor will surprise you when he hands you the bill. Weve been using him for over 13 years. I wouldnt take my pet to any other Veterinarian.

One word for the staff at The Pet Clinic. DISGUSTING. If I could give 0 stars I would. First of all, everytime I go and pick my dog up, one if the employees will tell the man to go get the dog & he will complain about having to get up & help a customer RIGHT in front of you. He is constantly talking about how he hates his job & needs a cigarette. Also, I took my dog in for a skin condition to get medication that ended up making her sick, so the next day I called asking for a new one. The woman on the phone was EXTREMELY rude beyond belief! When I asked for the price difference for the new medication she replied honey, i dont know how much it is I dont do the money. WOW. Imagine how they are treating your dog when theyre treating you like this. I will NEVER go here again!

I used to recommend this vet all the time until now I took my dog up to get his teeth cleaned and a cat to get spayed it is 2:30 in the afternoon and I called it took about my dog and my cat my dog was done but my cat had not been touched so then I call back at 2:15 and tell them I do not want the cat spayed and by 2:20 they have called me and told me the cats knocked out so they hurried up and went sedated the cat so they can make the money even though I had called and said dont do it they went ahead and sedated the cat so they can proceed with the procedure I think this is bad practice I will never recommend them again

No, dont go here. My last dog died here. They simply removed a cyst and then I picked her up and she was limp ,she died that night. I understand she would have died anyway,but they never said anything about the risk and they are the experts shouldnt they have had a clue?When the emergency vet hospital x-rayed her,she was riddled with cancer and he suspected it right away.Its not just that,though, its very hard to get an appointment its usually a month out. The receptionist that I spoke to was condescending. My husband loves Paul though ,he was not the Dr. I used for Abby, so I agreed to make an appointment. I told her I did have a problem the last time and that my husband would be bringing her in. She said quote well, maybe you should go somewhere else. I made the appointment but when I explain to my husband that I was uncomfortable even on the phone. He agreed we would go somewhere else. I called another vet a mile away and they got me in the next morning.

Went by to pick up cheristin on theway home from work. Love The Pet Clinic. Dr Gartenburg does his best to care for my fur babies.

Not Impressed! my moms dog was pooping blood and vomiting blood and having a tough time breathing and had a fever after a dose of revolution so we called vet after hours the Doc said have someone draw blood and He will look at results when they come back..in a day!!! but we made appointment instead...he was like..I thought we were just going to do blood..I said well I thought youd like to see him..he said..well I hate to keep ppl waiting....in other words we were keeping him from the other ppl with appointments! and he NEVER listened to his lungs or heart! and never took his temp! he is over worked and DOES NOT give his 4 legged patients the attention they need and the PAYING Customers!most MDS here treat the elderly like a dime a dozen..guess that goes for some vets to!

Horrible experience from extremely rude staff, to giving unauthorized vaccinations even though my dog was up to date on all of them, to telling us she had diarrhea the whole time she was there (did not call us to tell us). Her bed was ruined. She is a senior dog and never has a problem inside at home. I suspect she was not taken out enough. This diarrhea may have been very well caused by vaccinations she did not need! She is also noticeably thinner. Now my dog is not 100% well which we of course told them. She has Cushings disease and is being raw fed which has helped alot with this disease. They expressed distaste in the raw feeding when I told them when I called to reserve the space, said she guessed they could wear gloves. That should have been a clue. Im guessing she wasnt fed regularly. The woman was SO NASTY when I talked to them about the vaccines on the phone. Just said if I dont like it, take her somewhere else! I am just hoping I can nurse her back to health. If you care about your dog, dont go here!!! We are traveling and used this kennel at the recommendation of someone so of course assumed it would be fine. The Worst experience ever!

I wont make it though this without crying. We had to let go of our beloved Ace because we could not allow him to suffer. The staff was great. Kind and caring. But veterinarian Dr. Paul Gartenberg was beyond: he was compassionate, genuine and kind. I wept throughout the very brief process of sending Ace to peace. When it was over and Ace was gone, Dr. Gartenberg said: You loved him very much. I sobbed. He said: Youre breaking my heart. I thanked him and left quickly, retreating to my car to grieve and cry. And cry. Today, I received mail from The Pet Center. Had I forgotten something? Not paid the bill in full? Maybe it was a receipt. No, it was a long, personal and beautifully hand-written letter of condolence from Dr. Gartenberg. I was stunned. He took the time to sit down and, even though he had very limited info about Ace (wed never been to The Pet Center before) write to me as if we were old friends and as if he knew our little guy. Ive never written a review for a service before. And I may never again. But this kind of caring and love of animals (and their humans) cannot be faked and I couldnt let it go unmentioned. Dr. Gartenberg took such good care of Lightning (my rescue chow mix) after his surgery he called me after hours and answered every single one of my questions that I had. He is SUPER affordable with an absolutely AMAZING staff who really care!

Vet team that have always been on top of it.I called a few minutes before they closed, yet they still allowed us to bring ìn our 16 year old terrier and prescribed antibiotics to immediately help our baby. She had a bad tooth abcess. The next week, when the swelling and infection subsided...he addressed the tooth abcess.I am so happy with them! This is the best vet in town, and will make your visit affordable or work with you if necessary---for the good of your pet.

3 strikes you are OUT! We`ve used them 3 times to kennel our dog, Jake. Issues of over feeding, even though we bag each meal for him, as well as his treats. When asked about the lack of food when we return, they state “it’s just too difficult to keep track of each dog’s food.” Really? What are we paying them for? Kris stated to us that while giving our dog a treat, if another is nearby, she may have given them a treat as well?… well I shouldn’t be paying to feed another owners dog! Not to mention the problem with giving dogs food they are not used to, can cause problems! Working in a Vets office, they should know this. Then when we have set up an appointment for boarding and told he is completely up to date on his vaccines, and we are all set and we drop him off and they inform us that he needs a new Bordetella (kennel cough) even though he had just had one 6 months 5 days ago, must be every six months!!! Really!!! we have boarded him for 13 years, and our other dogs, and NEVER needed a Bordetella every 6 months….. Then there is the issue where they call us, and ask if we picked our dog up, even though we still had 5 days on record before returning … they had misplaced our pet…. Then when we go to pick him up and his harness, leash and a muzzle we kept on his leash as a bark detterent (not biting) had been hung on his kennel where he could reach it and was all drug into his run and of course he “CHEWED” them up and we had no leash, harness or poop bags when we picked him up…. The staff just seems very lackadaisical when it comes to being structured on how our pets care should be handled, as well as they tend to come across as rude when questioned about concerns. There must be more competent kennels in our area…we won’t be going back! Jake will be VERY HAPPY!!!

Dr. Gartenberg is a fantastic veterinarian a little long on appointment times though

I have been a patient for over 3 years. I spoke to Kris or chris over the phone and she was very rude. She told me I probably killed my dog because I gave him heartgard medicine and she told me that heartgard doesnt existence. I told her when my pet is sick she needs to have more compassion. Also, the office hours begin at 7:30 and I didnt receive an answering service until 8:30.
