Long Review!I have been searching for a new dentist since my prior office closed. I booked my appointment here at Bowie Dental Wellness a week prior to my visit over the phone. I spoke to someone who asked me general questions to inquire about my needs at the visit. I was looking for a comprehensive exam, cleaning, etc..an overall general visit since it had been a while. The day of my exam I received a call asking me if I could come in an hour earlier which I did. The establishment was very nice but my experience was not. I made time on my busy schedule and I cancelled another appointment with a dentist in the area for this office which had great reviews, offered the six month smile system, and had a Black female dentist! I talked to the receptionist which also happened to be the dentist due to a staffing issue. She informed me that they do not take new patients but since I am already here that they will see me. OKAY. I was also listed as an emergency visit which was not the case. I actually cancelled the other appointment due them being out of network with my insurance. However at Bowie Dental Wellness they file reimbursement to insurance as a courtesy to the customer…which I could’ve done at the other office and actually received service. I was then taken to the back and x-rays were taken..the dentist tells me that they do not have a dental hygienist to perform the services I am looking for and she can refer me else where. She told me that she can take care of my cavity but the other services (cleaning, whitening, six month smile,etc.) she would not be able to perform and it may be best to go to a dentist or specialist that can handle all my needs. Understood. When I mentioned the six month smile system she told me the website needs to be updated. I also did not appreciate the response/ tone I received when relating my concerns about my pain/possible cavity. I understand she was frustrated as the receptionist called out but definitely did not like the overall attitude I received from her. This was a very disappointing experience and a complete waste of time. I understand the staffing issues with COVID and all, but wish I was told prior to taking time out of my schedule for this useless appointment. The dentist was very transparent with me about what she can and cannot do which I did appreciate. However, I do think my appointment should have never been taken if they are not taking new clients due to the staffing issues/COVID. Also the assistant who took my x-rays was very nice!

I can in to wellness to find a new dentist because my previous dentist for 15 years closed because of covid . I called and and explained that I only needed to have a loose crown tightened up or replaced after many phone calls trying to verify ins , they confirmed the ins and assured me that they would be able to help me with my crown.. needless to say when I arrived they did everything but what I asked for they even gave me a referral to another dentist that they said could help with my current situation and once i contacted them they said they only did the opposite of what I was looking for and said that bowie wellness was the place to correct my crown, upon further research found out that bowie wellness was just trying to get a new appointment and and ins payment from me and now that I havent used them again they are now sending me invoices for extra money for telling me that i was getting gingivitis at 55 no surprise there never use this place unless you have money to burn and not get what you expect

The office at Bowie Dental Wellness is very clean, updated and thoroughly sanitized. The staff is amazing and walked me through every step of the way. Dr. Holness is awesome! She worked quickly and tried to make sure I was at ease at all times (even with the crown service she had done for me). I can’t explain how knowledgeable every staff member at this facility is; from the staff at the front desk, dental assistants, and Dr. Holness, herself. I highly recommend!

I went there because they promised they could help with a loose crown i had , but when I got there they did 3 xrays for gingivitis they never addressed the loose crown other than to give me a referral to another dentist who said that they didnt do what i needed they actually said that bowie should have been the one to fix it BE CAREFUL IT WAS THE MOST EXPENSIVE GINGIVITIS CHECKUP IN HISTORY AND THEY NEVER ONCE ATTEMPTED TO FIX MY CROWN BUT IT WAS THE HIGHEST MEDICAL BILL IVE SEEN IN YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Holness is amazing 🤩 She is extremely kind and very professional. I love that she discusses every step of the process with you. There are no surprises. The equipment is innovative and high end. She is patient and does not rush the appointment. The office is beautiful and very very clean. I love that the Dentist and staff wear masks and face shields for your protection, during the current pandemic. Patients were masks until being serviced and you temperature is taken. This is a plus!! The staff is extremely kind and friendly. I had a great experience and highly recommend Dr. Holeness. If there were an option to give 10 stars, I would.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE when you go to this dentist verify with your insurance what you are covered for. I needed work done which would cost $578.80. Initially I was disappointed with my insurance company so I decided to call them and find out why am I paying so much out of pocket. My insurance company advise me that I was a 100% covered for two of the procedures and I just need to pay for fluoride treatment which was roughly $30.00. I also asked before paying what my insurance company would pay and receive an invoice from them which confirmed that I was responsible for paying the $578.80.Needless to say I was a first time patient with them and before this appointment I was told at short noticed that they had to reschedule which was two weeks out. If you attend here or attempting I would definitely review your services and double check the price through your insurance company.

The doctor and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The wait time is minimal, which would make one think they are rushing through patients; but to the contrary. The preparation made for existing patients enables visits to flow smoothly, but yet you will receive a thorough examination. Im certain new patients will receive the same standard of care, because thoroughness and attention to detail seems to be the culture at this office. I highly recommend this dental office.

This was an absolutely refreshing dental experience. State of the art equipment, very modern design and superb service from the front office to the procedure room. Everyone was very pleasant and comforting throughout my appointment. I would DEFINITELY recommend Bowie Dental Wellness to those who reside in the surrounding areas. 💯

Late cancellation notification (less than 24 hrs). Will not refund prepaid deposit for services not yet rendered.They state that you have to wait until the Dental plan is paid in full. I think that since any outstanding balance will be directed to me this should not be necessary.Finally they want to charge you for a copy of your dental records that you already payed for? But they will send it to the new physision for free? Not good!!!!Request to not be called for reminders and they continued to do so. No privacy right acknowledgement.

Bowie Dental Wellness went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable during my recent dental procedure. I have always had a fear of the dentist and they put my fears at ease and was very accommodating in making sure I was comfortable. Dr. Holness and her staff gave me excellent customer service! I highly recommend this dental practice.

I am very squirmish every time I get dental work done.Till this day, Dr. Holness is the only dentist in my entire life (& I’m 33), that has had me totally stable while getting dental work done ...professionally & empathetically too!!She’s so patient & gentle too & the service from start to finish is always welcoming.

In review of the one star responses I can truly relate based on my first and only experience with meeting with Dr Holiness. My current dentist had went on a temporary leave of absence and I was seeking to obtained major dental work. After searching for a dentist via my dental insurance plan, I found the Bowie Dental Wellness office and arrange to have a consultation with Dr Holiness.During my meeting with Dr Holiness, she provided me with details and information and options regarding my needed dental work. It was my reply, that I want to research the information that she provided, go over my dental coverage, and speak with my wife regarding what she felt was best.I will never forget, Dr Holiness response, as she began to get uptight and frustrated and replied to me that if you are not going to proceed in the process of the dental work required, why did you come in my office and waste my time.I could not believe that she responded to me in that way but I politely, excuse myself and quickly exited her dental office. Thinking back over the experience with Dr Holiness, and reading the other one star comments, I wish her well in her practice, as she needs to understands, there are other very good dentists in the Bowie-Mitchellville area. And by Gods grace, I was able to locate a very good dentist.

The few times I’ve been there, love the Hygienist. She is very personable and truly cares about her patient. As far as Dr. Holness is concerned, not a fan at all. You deal with the public and the services you render are not free, so I deserve some kind of respect . Got my fillings done recently and she is just not a nice person period, she tries to fake it a times .My last visit there , I promised myself that I will not be returning there ever again.After she finished with me , she just walked out of the room without debriefing with me on what was done and nothing like I will see you again in another X amount of time or a simple thank you for coming in . I paid for the services it wasn’t free. Doesn’t care at all.

I went to Bowie dental wellness for a cleaning on Thursday because my gums were swollen and I was examined by the hygienist I believe that’s her title who was lovely by the way. She did tell me to come the following day and get a scaling.But the doctor came and examined me and asked a bunch of questions. I forgot to answer something and she was so irritated that I forgot to tell her that I take the allergy medicine Zyrtec sometimes. I have a busy life and a little baby sometimes I might forget to share every detail of my medical history. The doctor told me I couldn’t get any procedure done until I see my primary doctor because of my other symptoms and she couldn’t see me until a doctor cleared me.I went to a doctor and they cleared me which I knew nothing else was wrong with me except for the dental issue I had. The coughing I have is usually from an allergy. It seems like she didn’t believe me and I felt uncomfortable when she asked me a personal question about my sexual activity and if there has been any changes. I am not sure what she was eluding to with that question.I called Bowie dental the following day on Friday and I got the same doctor and told her based on my check up and vitals I was cleared to book another appointment and get my dental work. I wanted to get it done right away cuz I had discomfort and I am a busy working mom so I don’t have a lot of time. She said she was busy but someone on her staff will call me on Monday to give me pricing and set an appointment. I told her if they can’t help me I can go somewhere else and she said someone will call but I didn’t get a call from anyone.I had to go to another dental practice and they saw me right away and they took care of me immediately. I’m disappointed in the service I received at Bowie Dental. I was treated as if something else was wrong with me. Nothing was wrong with me and I think the situation could have been handled much better. I don’t feel comfortable going back there. I am normally laid back and chill but I did not appreciate how I was treated.

Bowie Dental provided and continues to provide me with exceptional service. Your typical dental experience is a mix of “let’s get this over with” and “I hope I don’t need to return for any other reason.” However, my experience at Bowie dental is a spa-like indulgence that has significantly improved my dental health at a very reasonable cost. Dr. Holness and her very-capable and professional staff have provided me with A-class service from day-1. They are timely with appointments, courteous, professional and highly knowledgeable about dental care. I highly recommend Bowie Dental.

I love Dr. Holness and her team. This is such an intimate business that truly cares about the quality of their work and the comfort of their patients. I am always greeted when I come in the door, I rarely have to wait, and it was easy rescheduling my appointment after the recent storm.Today, I had a cleaning and sealants put on my teeth. It was quick and painless; the entire process and price were explained to me before the work began. I didn’t feel pressured to get them, and the benefits of preventative work were explained too.This is such an awesome practice. I’d highly recommend Bowie Dental Wellness.

Alisha is the best hygentist.Her personality is warm, caring, friendly, and full of laughter. She takes great care and pride in her work. She is also very gentle, yet thorough. Excellent for those who are a little intimidated and shy about dentist. Because of Alisha, I look forward to my visits! ☆☆☆☆☆

The decor and atmosphere is beautiful. The receptionist was lovely. The dentist however (Dr. Holiness) was very ignorant and condescending. So much so that I walked out from the dental chair mid conversation. She became annoyed when I chose to look at pictures of my teeth as opposed to her face. Also, she gave me recommendations on a plan for my teeth, when I declined certain services she told me it was “malpractice”. She told me that before I could get a fill for my chipped tooth (which I told her made me insecure) she told me that i was vein and should worry more about the other work she “recommended” was needed AND that this addition work MUST to be scheduled and paid for before I could get the fill. How does that even make sense! All in all nothing that I scheduled got done. The actual dentist She is crazy, controlling and delusional! Do yourself the favor and go elsewhere. They have so a lot of openings for a reason. The WORST experience EVER!!!!

Theyre very nice and incredibly cool. They explained everything to me and made sure I understood cost and how to properly care for my teeth. Really like them!

Very comfortable, and clean environment. The staff is very hospitable. Very professional and effective in there skills. I recommend you to just give this Dentist office a try you wont regret it.

The hygienist was great chairside manner was professional and personable The front office coodinator was so sweet I think her name was Ebony I had a glitch with my benefits not being checked properly but I called my carrier and cleared it up and made sense out of her confusionThe doctor tried to sell her treatment plan but me being a former RDA ...Well I can say that she was very thorough I could feel a sort of apprehension from the staff not to say or do anything incorrectly.With that being said it was my first visit and the doctor wasnt technical which I appreciated and yes I will return for the work that is needed..

I just had my first visit to the office. Beautiful waiting area, spotless facilities and very friendly and attentive staff. The hygienist, Dani, was very thorough and explained everything. Dr. Holness is very direct but it is clear that her goal is to make sure that her patients have the best information with which to make an informed decision. I have not had good experiences with dental offices, but this experience was overall very positive, and it is nice to know that there is a great dental practice in my community.

Receptionist waited until the day of, literally 30 minutes before my dental appointment, to let me know they don’t accept my insurance. I was on my way out the door. I’ll never know how good their dental service is but that was definitely poor customer service since i now have to schedule an appointment elsewhere. They waited over a week to let me know, when i could’ve found another dentistry to take care of my needs.Sincerely,A 34 week pregnant woman with swollen gums 😡

Dr. Holness and her team have been nothing but excellent since day one. My dentist Alisha is amazing for the great work she has done in helping me maintain healthy teeth. She has been very professional from the time she has been working with me and she treats me like family. Unfortunately, I temporarily had to stop my visits to this office due to dental insurance issues. Once the issue is resolved, I will be back to resume my dental visits. If you are looking for a dental office in Bowie I would definitely recommend Bowie Dental Wellness.

The service I received was good while I was a patient here. The dentist and dental assistants were great and attentive and the atmosphere is very nice and soothing.However I have to give Bowie Wellness Dental 3 stars because I have been waiting on a refund from them for two months for prepaid services I chose not to receive. I have been patient with the facility, however they have been paid, but I can’t be reimbursed for services that I elected not to have done there. Bottom line this is bad business and poor customer service and for this reason alone I will not be returning to this practice regardless of the doctor being good. I have left multiple messages about my refund with the billing specialist and after having to wait a month for them to process a claim from January of this year they never submitted and then getting paid the billing specialist finally told me that it would take 3 weeks for the doctor and her accountant to sign and mail my refund check. Well it has been well over a month now since that conversation and I live 5-10 minutes away and I still haven’t received my $260 refund.I never leave bad reviews for any organization that I affiliate with and this is the first bad review I have ever given anyone and it could have all been avoided had I been provided with good customer service I deserve as a paying customer and Bowie citizen.

Always courteous and accommodating. I was greeted immediately when I walked in with smiles, and my wait was less than 5 mins. I’ve had ortho work here (braces) and had to come in regularly, and each time my experience was no different than the last. I praise the customer service here and would recommend anyone!

I had truly given up hope of finding a qualified dentist, with a technologically advanced office, who was supported by a highly professional staff. I was floored when I stumbled on this practice. Dr. Holness and her team surpassed all of my expectations and I look forward to being a long-term client. From the tour of the office to the well-designed patient areas it is clear that patient experience is paramount to this team. This practice is a true gem and the overall experience is beyond expectations.

I have been going to Dr. Holness for a few years now. I have always had teeth issues due to chalky white teeth. She so knowledgeable and professional and took so much time to ensure I got the best option. Dr. Holness gave me at least four options for a procedure I needed. I recommend her to all of my friends.

I commend Dr. Holness and her staff. The office is modern and beautifully decorated. I remember Dr. Holness when she was a panelist at one of the community events I attended some time ago. Because of some issues I was having, I knew I needed to see a dentist. Thats when I remembered her.I made an appointment to get an assessment of what needed to be done. After the assessment and at initial the consultation I was told I needed MAJOR dental work. After getting a second opinion, I determined Dr. Holness was the best fit for me.She answered every question (there were many), addressed every concern, and explained the pros and cons of the procedure. I am still a work in progress but I am delighted with what has been done to this point. I would highly recommend Dr. Holness if you are looking for a dentist.By the way, watching TV on an overhead screen while getting dental work done is a very helpful distraction!

The staff at Bowie Dental Wellness are nice but I agree with many of the 1 star comments below saying that the Dentist, Dr. Holness is very rude. I felt rushed through my appointment and she does not take the time to clearly answer questions. Her tone is condescending and impatient. I recently had my third appointment at Bowie Dental Wellness and there were issues during or after each one. Last year I had a billing issue and spent 6 weeks trying to get someone to call me back to clear it up. I reached out to the office manager 5 times and was told each time that someone would call me back by the end of the day to clear it up. This never happened. There have been a host of other problems at Bowie Dental Wellness that I wont give the time or energy to elaborate on but in a nutshell, I would not recommend this practice to anyone looking for a nice dentist who will ease your qualms about dental work. I find it hard to understand how some healthcare practitioners can do such a poor job at customer service when there are so many other options out there. Do your research first.

Where to start. Ive never liked going to the dentist even as a kid for number of reasons. But this place felt like a spa, very relaxing. The staff were very nice, helpful, knowledgeable and most of all professional. I left that place numb and with a smile. Theres just not enough stars to select from to express how I really feel. Ever since I was little, I have always had a fear of going to the dentists. Upon entering Bowie Dental Wellness for the first time, I was immediately impressed by the first-class professionalism by Dr. Holness and her staff. Not only were they tremendously accommodating to both my dental needs and concerns, but they were also great in setting forth a down to earth atmosphere, which included watching tv during dental procedures. Ultimately, Bowie Dental Wellnesss goal to make their clients as comfortable as possible is immediately apparent upon entering, and I highly recommend this place to all my friends and family.

This is the best dental office visit I have EVER had. First impressions go a long way. The office is nicely decorated and elegant, the staff is friendly, accommodating, and professional. They take the time to explain everything you need to know, give you a tour of the office, and offer an indepth questionnaire to help drive your experience and set the expectations YOU want for your dentist. Dr. Holness was very friendly, kind, willing to listen, and knowledgeable. They use the latest technology, and are thoughtful enough offer you protective glasses as you are in the chair, a warm/moist towel when you finish, lip balm, and a tooth cleaning kit upon departure. Even having classical music or jazz playing in the office is a very nice touch. I will definitely be a regular and recommend anyone to come here. You will be thoroughly pleased.

Fantastic experience. The staff was kind, courteous, and informative. They were very patient with explaining the why, what, and how of all treatments. AND they have a Hulu subscription for patients to take advantage of while waiting.

I have not been to a dentist in a very long while, and I was very apprehensive, but knew that my dental health had been neglected for far too long. I was amazed by how attentive, patient, and courteous the staff was. I was welcomed warmly by the front desk staff, I received a tour and laughs from my hygienist Alisha who took her time to explain step by step everything she was doing, what she intended to do, and how it may feel. Then I met the dentist Dr. Holness she thoroughly explained my treatment plan and why there was a need for certain procedures. Finally I met the finance specialist Niola she explained the numerous ways that I could pay for procedures and did a breakdown of my coverage allowances, and deductibles. This is a business that definitely prides themselves on being sure their customers are satisfied during every step of their experience.

I would recommend anyone looking for a new dentist to schedule an appointment at Bowie Dental Wellness. Very professional and knowledgable staff. Clean and comfortable waiting area. Excellent teeth cleaning. Thorough dental examination and plan provided by Dr. Holnes. I plan to return.

Patient 0001I pride myself in saying that Im patient 0001 of Dr. Holness. Im sure I was the very first patient of the Bowie Dental Wellness when it opened its doors a couple years back. I can tell you, I never regretted that decision. The practice treats you as if you were family, the staff always have a big smiles in their faces and very welcoming. Dr. Holness has the best bedside manner of any dentists I have ever visited, she doesnt make you feel less then even you have neglected taking care of your mouth. Best of all, If you have an emergency, she will move heaven and earth to try to accommodate a last minute consultation for you. I love this place!!

Great Service! Thorough and very detailed dental care.

I have been battling periodontitis for over thirty years. I’ve done the regular cleanings, the scalings, the root plannings, etc. and my condition never improved despite regular brushing and flossing. Then I became a patient of Dr. Holness. She promotes “Dental Wellness” not just from a medical prospective but also holistically. Dr. Holness devised a treatment plan that continued regular cleanings but also included other innovative techniques that would identify and fight the bacteria in my mouth biologically. Dr. Holness’ ability to think outside the box and beyond traditional treatments is what sets her apart from other dentists and will garner her much success.

Dr. Holiness is VERY unprofessional and rude. Services seem very gimmicky, as they try to sell you up-charges in a haggling manner. Dentist mentioned she “did me a favor” when in fact it’s called providing services at cost. Extremely haughty! I would never recommend this business.

Please seek a second opinion before major dental work. I lost a tooth in the process and paid for implant to only have it fail after 3 weeks. I was told I would have to repay for the procedure again.

The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I was the last patient on a Wednednesay evening, but everyone took their time with me as if I were the first patient. Dr. Holness is very knowledgeable and took the time to sit down and go through my Xryas in order to discuss potential dental problems with me. There are many luxuries in this office including a kuerig coffee machine with many choices of drinks, a personal tv above my head, a warm towel to wipe my face after the procedure, and a goody bag. The whole atmosphere and experience was peaceful, polished, and professional.
