The corner is one of my favorite places to be in all of Boulder. Coach Carrie has not just created a gym, but a community. When I go to a class, I feel an instant connection with others. I also do personal training with the gym which has really helped me meet my general fitness goals while learning to box. In the fall, Diego was my trainer and he was awesome with helping me with my form and skill development. I recommend him as a trainer if you start going here. This spring, though, I injured my hand badly and had to have surgery in March. I felt really sad because my physical therapist said I wouldn’t be able to box for a long time. But once I was well enough, I started working independently with Carrie, and she has modified everything to get me back into boxing while doing rehab for my hand. She even always checks in on me after to ask how my hand is. I don’t know if any other gym that would do that. Pricing is very fair, and I feel so good knowing that The Corner is a nonprofit with such meaningful programs.

The Corner Boxing Club has some of the best training in the state. I entered this gym as a beginner and left this gym as someone who can compete at this sport. At this gym I was able to learn technique and the basics of boxing and this has been a platform on which I can build and grow as a boxer. Carrie Barry is extremely knowledgeable and is the kind of coach who will not stagnate but will continue to improve and refine her coaching methods. All good teachers continue with”professional development” and I think Carrie is a teacher of this sort. Classes at this gym are structured by skill level and this creates an opportunity for people who have been traditionally ostracized by the boxing community to improve as boxers. Classes that are coed and structured by skill level allow for the empowerment of everyone, much more so than boxing gyms that offer “all women’s groups”. At this gym you have opportunity to learn from world class athletes, athletes of all levels (there is always something to learn from everyone) and knowledgeable coaches. It is one of the few truly inclusive boxing gyms and is one of a kind.

I to the Saturday intro class and it was such a great time that I joined right after, and I’ve never even boxed before! My first class was with Ryan, and my second one was with Diego - they were both patient and helpful as I still didn’t know how to wrap my hands, my shoes kept coming untied, and my glove would un-Velcro. The others in the class are just as supportive. I’m so happy to be a part of the community here! I don’t feel judged for being new - only encouraged. My only advice is this: don’t be late, or Carrie will make you do push-ups!

Being 76 yrs young going on 12, I have competed in numerous sports from the usual basketball, softball, soccer, to racquetball, working out etc., ; a friend suggested I try boxing and so a number of years ago I did so. It has been a very enjoyable change of pace for me, something totally different from past and current endeavors. The warm-ups, stretching, etc. are specific and well planned. The classes are also well planned focussing on various goals such as strength, power, agility, and balance. Oh yes, we get to pound the heavy bags, shadow box, and hit the speed bag. It is a fun good workout and everyone I have been around is very friendly and encouraging. Thank you Coach Carrie for making this possible for we oldsters as well as all the youth programs.

Seriously the best boxing gym out there. My experience from day one was nothing short of inspiring. I was super intimated to try boxing, but Carrie who taught my first class was motivating, positive, and excellent at teaching. Since then I have been to several different classes with different instructors who are not only amazing coaches, but have great personalities as well. I always learn something new and come away every time with a great workout. This isn’t just a boxing gym, it’s a community of great people and coaches who truly have passion for what they do!

I will be forever indebted to Coach Carrie for helping my son find his passion. From his first intro to boxing class to now being on the competitive team, the Corner has literally changed his life. He says the people there have become like family to him, always pushing him to be better. And the benefits extend well beyond the ring - he is disciplined, organized, more empathetic & surprisingly responsible. A mothers dream, especially during a pandemic that put him in a pretty dark place.

I have been coming here for six months and I am more fit then I have been in a long time. Every time I come here I leave completely drenched in sweat. What a workout!!! I feel so much more confident knowing I can throw a punch too!! All the trainers are class acts. Carrie is extremely knowledgeable and gives you the skills needed to box with good form. I highly recommend some personal time with her. Diego blew me away when I heard he was only 16. He had total control over the class and made it super fun. He also gave pointers during class to correct bad habits. Prikasa’s class is hard and super fun. Just be careful with the young trainers… there classes are the hardest 😜. Everyone who trains here has been super nice and it is super supportive environment. I highly recommend this gym.

I have been going to the Corner Boxing Gym for over two years now. I have lived in Boulder for almost my entire life, and in that time I have had many gum memberships at numerous places. This is the one Gym that is a community. The instructors are all amazing and they are interested in your growth first as a person and second as an athlete. There is no better place to work out in Boulder than the Corner! Go see Carrie or one of the coaches and join the community!

The owner is comparable to a used car salesman all charisma up front but ultimately only out to get your money. Ask about their return policy, they dont have one you wouldnt find that out up front though. Their membership prices are regularly going up all the while they have teenagers coaching their classes. The quality of this place has gone way down, save your money

The Corner is a great place to learn about boxing, get in better shape, and lose weight. I have been going for more than a year, and all the instructors are top notch and inspiring. The owner, Carrie, is a fantastic person and teacher. The lunch classes are always a little different, so they keep you engaged! I am a bit older and when I first started I had never boxed before, or even been in a boxing gym, so I was little intimidated. Can I even do this? I found that the Corner is a super open, safe, and positive place for anybody who wants to learn and get in shape. I was hooked from the first class. So the answer was yes, but how to get started? For me that was the hardest part. If you are looking to start, I suggest completing a waiver and signing up for a free Saturday intro class. For any class be prepared and show up a bit early, because classes always start on time. (Oh and since it is a small place and classes start right on time, questions about membership are best to be asked after class or via email.) Then if you like it, do some drop in classes to get a feel for the place. All the pricing is clearly spelled out on the website join page. Also the Corner is a non profit which supports youth and senior programs which to me is pretty cool. So in summary the Corner gym is an awesome place. I highly recommend it.

I was introduced to Carrie and the Corner crew while helping them with some design projects early on. Carrie was great to work with and always had an awesome attitude. 5ish years later I came to my senses and realized how much fun and challenging boxing is. I emailed Carrie and after looking at my schedule, decided to go with one on one sessions. She set me up with Diego. Dont let his age fool you (I almost did). He is a great coach who has been professional, knowledgable, communicates (cues movement) very well, and obviously loves the sport.

The Corner Boxing Club is the best gym experience I have ever had! Boxing is a sport for anyone: novice to expert and the coaches here are great at specifying the training to meet your needs. I especially enjoy Coach Prikasa´s classes because they are challenging yet fun and he has helped me improve my technique immensely. The gym itself is kept immaculately clean and the community as a whole is extremely friendly, welcoming, and supportive. Punching things has been a great way to relive stress lately and I would recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for a safe and enjoyable way to exercise.

I’ve been going to The Corner Boxing Club for a little over a year and a half now and am so thankful for everyone at the gym. The gym is a great community and everyone is there to support everyone. The coaches are fantastic and very accomplished boxers. This is the place to be if you want a great workout but also want to learn the actual fundamentals of boxing. Carrie pushes me to the best I can be and even though I’m completely exhausted after a class I leave feeling great about myself. I originally came to this gym to get in shape after a back injury left me out of the gym for several years but I’ve found lifelong friends who are also there to support me outside of the gym.

I signed my son up a while back and I fell to realize that you had to sign up for a specific Saturday for the Intro. That one is my bad. But when we did show up, which by the way took a lot to get my son to come, we were not welcomed warmly at all. This did not feel like a place for kids. I wish someone could have returned my phone call before I made the drive and I wish the instructor would’ve offered for my son to come to the next class or giving me some sort of option. Rather she walked right past me and started class. I was standing there and I felt embarrassed.

In just a short time, Coach Carrie and everyone there has made the gym feel like home. I was extremely reluctant to reach out and start at the gym, due to some serious past trauma, but in my first session with Coach Carrie I knew that I had found my place. She has been incredibly patient, flexible, kind, and mindful of my trauma while also challenging me to conquer my fears and push me to do things I never thought I could do. In fact, when my mother came to a session, she said that seeing what I’ve been doing at the gym and how far I had come was more than she ever dreamed I would do again. Additionally, their commitment to helping underserved populations speaks volumes of the integrity and character of the Carrie and the gym. Anyone would be lucky to be apart of a gym like this one!

Perhaps not about the business itself, but as I was commuting to work on Sunday 12/8/2019, an aggressive driver with this business logo decided their priorities were more important than the safety of everyone else on Colorado 119. Flashing high beams (in the morning nonetheless) into my back windshield and tailgating myself and other drivers. Look, I understand emergencies rise up and people have places to go. But this sours any prospects I would have to try this gym out. If you want to be a lousy driver, fine. But make sure youre not in the company vehicle and putting out a lousy reputation for potential clients.

I wish I could give more stars. The Corner is the real thing, and more. If youre into hard boxing, they have all the toughness of a traditional boxing gym, and you can train as hard as you want here. If what you want is fitness and a better sense of your body and how you can move, youll get awesome and motivating workouts here. In all of it, the gym has a great vibe, and the Corner team are great people. Carrie and the team have somehow found a way to have a real boxing gym that doesnt feel the least bit thuggish, where folks feel genuinely welcome. The fact that they give so much back to the community through charitable work is just icing on the cake. The Corner Rocks.

I really cannot say enough good about this gym and the wonderful ladies who run it. We should all be so lucky to have access to such a welcoming and supportive environmentI have been coming here for 15 months now, and I feel better than I have felt in years - physically and mentally. Coaches Carrie and Kirsten are both so inspiring, even when I am super stressed or down. They are great at pushing limits in a productive way. They are superb members of the community and continually supporting and giving back. From their Parkinsons class, to the programs they have for kids, to the money they raise with the Founders Fights, they are constantly making our community a better place.MOST importantly to me, my seven year old starting training here after he was diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome and I had to pull him from his school because of bullying. Since he started training with Johnny and Diego, he has a new and supportive community who challenge him, teach him discipline, and have given him confidence he never before had. His TS is now almost unnoticeable, and he is more confident is all aspects of his life. I cannot day how grateful I am for everyone at Corner Boxing, and hope we are able to continue to come here for a long time!

The Corner Boxing Club offers a professional boxing environment for the serious competitor, but at the same time is completely welcoming to the novice athlete ready to learn something new (there are more offerings than just boxing) and take their strength and conditioning to another level. Coach Carrie’s methodology of training is effective, technique-driven, and suitable for all levels of athletes. She is an excellent coach with a passion for learning and is willing to travel far and wide to expand her depth and breadth of knowledge despite already having impressive credentials. Her actions and commitment to The Corner Boxing Club speak loud, and I am continually impressed with her hard but fair attitude, but even more so with her golden heart.

Most Welcoming Gym in Boulder. I have never boxed before in my life and I just took my first class and it blew my mind...days later I am still sore and so excited to go back! Oh and by the way...ALL ROOKIE CLASSES ARE FREE. SERIOUSLY. YES. FREE. Carrie Barry and Kirsten Barry are truly the most kind and badass people! I felt safe and welcome and seen both as a queer person and as someone who was stepping into something I have never done before. It was very refreshing to walk into a queer friendly gym full of all skill levels that did not have any elitism about it. This is a place where the people who have experience help the people who have less experience. This is rare in any gym setting, and Im so glad The Corner is here as a role model for how people and gyms can be. It was so empowering to take this class...I felt strong and grounded and ready for anything afterward. If youre thinking about it...if youre scared...if you think you cant possibly...but you want to...DO IT. Do something different. Go ahead and step out of your comfort zone and put on your brave! The coaches are knowledgeable, generous, and, best of all, kind and clever. The gym is extremely welcoming, but you can also see that the coaches know how to (and do) train high level boxers. On yesterday which was the day before the boxing event he was told he didnt raise enough money to participate . Now it has occurred to us that The Corner Boxing is about money (pocketing money). Not a good gym at all, same workout every week and coaches really dont care about developing a boxers skills. The coaches may look good on paper but not in real life. During sparring they will let a person get beat up and never get any better because the coaches just dont know what to say or do to make a person better. This is not a place if you are trying to become a real fighter. Its a mild workout facility so if you want to box, FIND ANOTHER GYM

Please make sure to fill out your cancellation form at the very bottom of their website if you leave the club. I sent them an email telling them that my son could no longer take classes but did not fill out the cancellation form. Even though they knew my son was not at their gym, they continued to charge me $130 a month and never contacted me to see why I didn’t fill out the cancellation form. When I asked to get my money back, they refused. Now I’m out $800 and my son never received any classes or instruction for that $800.
