Overall I would not recommend this place at all. I got 8 grafts done at once about two years ago. Most of them were fine, but one on the canine just didnt stick. I understand that it was a difficult tooth/gum, but it clearly was an unsuccessful graft (the graft slid all the way down my tooth after like 3 days) and the periodontist (both Dr. Dodge and Dr. Rademacher, and their assistants) claimed it was looking great. I think the intentional dishonesty was what bothered me the most. After going to two other dentists in Boulder, both of them said my canine looked very bad (something I could have said myself!), with exposed bone and active bone loss, and I needed a gum graft. They were almost shocked when I told them I had just gotten one.I went back to Dr. Dodge (a bad move on my part), who redid the graft free of charge. I would have thought it courteous, but really this was an admission that he screwed up the first graft. And then, he had the nerve to charge over $100 for the appointment, as if it was an initial intake. Really, you need $100 after $6 K? The exact same results happened, with the graft quickly receding in 3 days and now the recession is worse than ever. I am going to have to go to a different, competent, periodontist recommended by my dentist for a third graft to get this fixed.

I had a surgery botched twice by another periodontist and needed it done correctly. I came to Dr. Dodge who was absolutely amazing about all of this. He knew I had become traumatized from the botched surgeries and did everything in his control to make sure I was happy and comfortable during the surgery. I was given a blanket, put in a massage chair, and was made to feel very relaxed. He told me everything he was doing as he was doing it to put my mind at ease. The assistants were all very sweet, the atmosphere felt like everyone enjoys being there. The surgery went flawlessly and fixed the mess the past periodontist left me with. The past surgeries were causing my mouth to heal improperly for over 8 months and I was feeling discomfort that entire time. Within two weeks of Dr. Dodge fixing it, my mouth already feels more healed than it has since August. I am amazed at what a difference Dr. Dodge has made for me. I would absolutely highly recommend Dr. Dodge to anyone that needs work done.

Had a bone build up for my tooth. Got sent to Dodge by my dentist! Went in and was charged immediately . Cut my gum open input some bone graph afterSCRAPPING THE ROOTS OF THE TOOTH! He put some tissue over all and stitched it up. I had to return in a couple days due to swelling and pain. Was given more antibiotics and sent away. No relief after 2 to 3 weeks. Went back told me I needed a root canal. More money and weeks later had a root canal done by yet another doctor. No relief, went back to the root canal guy. He sent me back to Dodge because that was where it all began. Turned out I had many more expenses and Dodge ended up pulling the tooth, following over $5k in expenses! Bone graph made a root canal necessary that didnt fix it and then extracted the tooth!None of this should have been necessary! Bone graph should have caught the crack, after all he scraped the roots! Not going to return.

If youve got to have it done, John Dodge is DEFINITELY the guy you want to do it. He just did a third bone graft procedure on me, and like both the other teeth, it has just not been a big deal. (Really, paying for it is the most painful part.) Hes a talented surgeon, and a nice guy (easy to communicate with and get straight information). You can be confident that youll be receiving the best of care with this office.

Horrible office. I never laid eyes on Dr Dodge and yet my files had notes from him that weren’t even correct. The last person who cleaned my teeth was rude and extremely insulting when I refused to have all of the many X-rays she wanted to give me.

I had a great experience with Dr. Dodge and his staff several weeks ago when I went in for a crown lengthening procedure. My first impression was very good- upon walking into his office for the first time, I was relieved by how clean and modern it was. It is nice to see state of the art equipment, because you know you will be well taken care of. The receptionists and dental hygienists were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, which calms you a bit before you are about to embark on an unfamiliar procedure. Both Dr. Dodge and his hygienist did a great job of explaining all of the options available to me to save my tooth and throughly explained what each procedure would be like before even beginning. I had a great time chatting with the hygienist before my procedure began, which made me feel like I wasnt there for pure (what I call) torture. Dr. Dodge was incredibly gentle during my procedure and was very good about checking in with me to see how I was doing. Amazingly, even though I had a huge bandage over my back teeth for a week, I didnt feel much pain. Now, I have had several route canals and had expected this recovery to be much worse and much more painful. However, it was much easier! After removing the bandage and getting my stitches out, I still didnt feel much pain and discomfort. The high quality of his work and his staff speaks through my easy recovery, because I am one of those people that has never, ever had an easy recovery even after the littlest dental procedure (um, blood clot from an IV of anesthesia in my arm? dry socket after my wisdom teeth removal?). Needless to say, I was very pleased with my level of care and treatment and would highly recommend him. Thanks Dr. Dodge for making an unenjoyable procedure as enjoyable as possible!
