I am writing to give a shout out to Dr. Sara. She finally convinced me get tested for sleep apnea. I really think she changed my life as I so needed a CPAP machine as well as oxygen. Later on in the year I had major heart problems ...being on oxygen helped everything. A dentist who cares so much about your airway is to me remarkable!

Dr Pourkay is knowledgeable, professional and caring. If you’re searching for a great dentist look no further! She will make you feel comfortable and talk through any concerns you might have. The entire office staff is excellent!

I have been to see Dr. Sara and Debbie the hygienist for many years. They are both very skilled, friendly, thorough, and make every visit a pleasurable experience (as well as the rest of the staff). I recently had a major bridge and crowns replaced, and Dr. Sara did an excellent job of explaining the options, costs, and steps involved. I’ve been going to Folsom Family Dental for years and visit them when I’m home from college. Not only is Dr. Pourkay an excellent dentist, she is professional and friendly. Her team of dental hygienists are exceptional. I highly recommend Folsom Family Dental.

The front desk lady who was working there was very rude and always pushy about our payments. My family had been struggling financially, and there was absolutely no empathy or any willingness to understand the struggles with our insurance. Sara was also rude on multiple occasions. Not only that, but I have recently found a new dentist, and he has told me that almost all of my fillings (which had been done by Sara and her team) were done incorrectly. Some were too sharp, and some were angled poorly. In the picture below, you can see that the filling is very sharp and does not curve with the tooth. When Sara gave me a referral to get my wisdom teeth removed, I asked her to provide me with another referral to someone who accepts my insurance. For some reason, however, she refused to do so. I do not recommend Folsom Family Dentist.

I was especially impressed recently with all the precautions theyre taking to ensure health and safety during the pandemic. I had the serious misfortune of seeing Dr. Pourkay for a simple cavity. After her incompetent work, the tooth required additional work while I was on vacation. You can imagine the nightmarish situation I was in after her work fell apart and I was out of town having to deal with her incompetent work on my tooth! I would avoid her at all costs. Though she seems nice, not the most competent unethical dentist.

Folsom family is an amazing place! Amy was very pleasant when she greeted me and made me feel right at home. Catina the assistant was very caring and made sure that all my questions were answered. Dr. Pourkay has a gentle touch. They have state of the art equipment that makes the appointments nice and easy. Debbie is gentle and thorough and Lindsay had me laughing on my out. I would recommend Folsom Family Dental to all of my family and friends for sure!!! I will be back.

The employees at this dental office seriously lack professionalism and any sense of accountability when they make mistakes. When I made my appointment, I gave the office manager my insurance information and asked them to run my insurance to make sure they accepted it at their office. I was told that was not a problem and that they definitely accepted my insurance.I arrived for my appointment, and the dental hygienist began doing the scheduled cleaning. Next, another hygienist told me we would be doing a series of x-rays, but that she wasnt sure if my insurance would cover the x-rays. She told me that it was alright though because even if my insurance didnt cover this particular x-ray, the dental office would comp it. I agreed to this as it seemed reasonable.After the x-rays, the office manager came over and informed me that they dont take my insurance at all. When I asked her how this could be after they had confirmed that they accepted my insurance. The office manager explained that whoever had taken the appointment must have simply not done it. She then told me I had to pay over $400 for the cleaning and the x-rays, which I hadnt asked for and was told beforehand I wouldnt have to pay for. When I told her that the hygienist told me they wouldnt charge me for the x-rays, the office manager attempted to deny it until that same hygienist told her that she actually did tell me that.After this, the office manager relented and took the x rays off, but told me I still had to pay for the cleaning even though she admitted they were responsible for the failure to run my insurance and lie about having done it. When I told her I did not find that a satisfactory answer, she said until I paid for the cleaning they would hold the xray results ransom.Since then, this office manager has called my girlfriend numerous times and left voice messages about my personal medical business even though they have my phone number.There are a lot of great dental offices in Boulder filled with friendly professionals who have integrity. This is not one of them. They admit they were wrong, refuse to take any accountability for it, and have engaged in a pattern of harassing behavior to attempt to scare me into paying them for their error. These are people to avoid.

Dr. Pourkay is a phenomenal dentist. She is thorough, diligent, and dedicated to her patients. There is no such thing as a cursory oral exam with her: this is the caring perfectionist you want to have as your dentist. My husband and I fly to see her, and it is well worth the effort.

So friendly! I actually had fun at the dentist, I dont care how dorky that sounds. Also, professional, nicely decorated, great views (second floor office), and music was to my taste.

Dr Pourkay is a master communicator about types and methods of treatment for the saving and reconstruction of your teeth. Unfortunately, I have plenty of experience with dentistry and Dr P is as painless as Ive known and offered less invasive and wait and see options. Ive thrilled to have found this tremendously competent and pleasant practitioner.

Dr. Sara is an incredibly intelligent, caring, and genuine individual. She is one of the few docs I know that can speak intelligently on ALL aspects of health/medicine and how it relates to dentistry. She’s no drill and fill type dentist — she’s a Doctor and a surgeon. I once heard her say something to another patient and it’s exactly why I keep coming back: “I like doing excellent work on my patients because I would want to have excellent work done myself, and I also know I wouldn’t sleep at night unless I’ve done my best work every day.” She prob didn’t know I was listening from the other room but that meant a lot to me. She goes out of her way to explain anything you may have questions about, and she is a kind, no-nonsense woman that will go out of her way for her patients. She took my emergency call last month at 10 pm when she was on vacation and called me the next day to follow up. That’s the kind of person I know I can trust. I live out of state now but I come back to see her because ive never met a doctor that’s so genuine.

Great family practice. Friendly staff, current tech, nice office. Both my husband and I have had cleaning and fillings and were both very happy with the care we received. Going to the dentist is never a spa day, but Dr. Sara and her team are doing a great job to make it comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Deb is super thorough/comprehensive with regular cleanings and I appreciate it. Dr Sara is a professional and clearly knows what she’s talking about - and also has shown a lot of determination in a battle to internally whiten a stubborn tooth.

I had a 1230 appointment, showed up 5 minutes esrly, waited maybe two minutes before my hygienist, Kayla, came out to meet me. Service and treatment was impeccable. Kayla was thoughtful, very pleasant, and extremely good.

I have regular perio cleanings and lots of sensitivity near the gum line, but my hygienist was so communicative and gentle that I don’t dread these visits anymore. I’m happy that I moved to this practice!

Ive been going there for almost 7 years. Debbie always does a great job at cleaning my teeth. Dr Sara is very nice and competent. Ive only had a couple cavities treated there, but they always catch the problem early on and fix it well. Ive never experienced any pain during or after those operations.

I began seeing David when he first established his offices.Always caring and responsive to my needs which have been many ..David has taken excellent care of all my dentistry and interfaces with other offices very well when oral surgery and prosthetic needs arise .I will continue to see David and appreciate his meticulous dentistry.To anyone with concerns or fears about getting into a dentists chair , I can say Dr Stangl will respond to your needs and do whatever it takes in order for you to feel comfortable..A very competent staff as well .Thanks to all at Folsom Family Dentistry

A few weeks ago when it snowed about 2 inches tops my daughters appointment was suddenly canceled the morning of because of the weather. I had already scheduled a half day off of work. People have their own plans and this dentist/office manager or whoever it was that ultimately decided to cancel the appointment did not seem to care for it. She is overall a decent dentist but someone who treats patients like that will not get a good review from me. Any professional company, especially in medicine should put their clients/patients ahead of a minor inconvenience. If you live in Colorado, you should be able to handle a bit of snow.

This practice was wonderful when Dr. Stangel was there. Dr Sara Pourkay is awful. Unprofessional and disrespectful. She was very Disrespectful toward my father, who is 83 and said some foul things to my husband. One of which was referring to a procedure as a mouth condom. She is disrespectful toward staff and talked poorly to hygienist the last time I was in. The only reason my husband continues to go is the hygienist, who is wonderful. I would not recommend. I gave it one star because it wouldnt let me post without one.I am responding to the response from owner I received.Lets be clear...There is no misunderstanding. Just because you say Dr. Sara would never say foul things doesnt mean she didnt . Could there be any other way to explain the rubber dam procedure If the perception is that is was inappropriate, then, it was.My father had just moved to Colorado and needed some work done. I was still a patient at the time so I brought him to you. Dr. Sara examined him and said his mouth is dirty, I will not work on a dirty mouth Could there be a better way to say that? She wouldnt look at him or talk to him, instead, only to me. he was right there and felt dismissed. She also said he needed 2 teeth pulled. We went to see a very qualified dentist and my dad only needed one tooth pulled. A good dentist tries to save teeth. Also, Dr. Sara probably needs to brush up on how to treat seniors.Lastly, the last time I came in for an appointment, over a year ago now, I expressed concern about the lower left side , to the hygienist. When Dr. Sara did her pop in, and the hygienist told her about my concern, she said, I dont see anything and walked away . She acted like she didnt like the hygienist informing her of a problem. I have since had problem addressed.I will never return and have no desire to call your office. I just thought others should know of how Dr. Sara treats people.Additionally, I dont feel there is a positive vibe in the office, it feels competitive and tense.

Great experience cant recommend highly enough! I hadnt been to the dentist in an embarrassingly ) long time (15yrs) and had a ton of anxiety about going in. Amy was very helpful and kind as soon as I entered the door. Katina helped me with my X-rays and scans and was a pleasure to deal with. Dr. Pourkay was informative and I really appreciated how she went into depth to make sure sure I understood my care plan. Debbie did my cleaning and was so gentle I had almost zero discomfort! Im so happy Ive found a Dental office that I can feel comfortable going to.
