I cant imagine an organization with as many caring individuals as those in the Animal Rescue League, I had adopted a sweet kitten. It is evident through their handling of the animals care these are people who genuinely wish the best for them. I also appreciated the transparency from the staff, you can tell they genuinely care for the animals and want them to leave in the healthiest condition or leave with someone equipped to care for them. Here is my kitty whos growing up to be a very goofy and adorable cat.

He is a challenge, loving, fun, and tiresome but most of all a blessing to our family. He is so spoiled with toys, snacks, playtime, and love. He loves everyone in our family and lets you know this when you arrive home or simply come in the room. He is not just mans best friend. He is a families best friend!!!

Two weeks ago we adopted a cat named Pro. The experience has exceeded all of our expectations. He seems as he has lived here forever. Sleeping in both his bed and the two adult beds. He is actively entertaining, with boundless energy. The ARLOB is responsible for making this adoption go so smoothly. Thanks to all of you. Special thanks to Tia who handled the connection from initial phone call, through the entire adoption. I will always use your organization for anyone thinking about rescuing an animal.

We adopted our sweet Rory from ARL last week and we are so pleased with our experience. The facility itself is large, with a veterinary clinic and separate entrance for the shelter. The team was very friendly and asked us lifestyle questions to find a compatible pet. We were able to visit with the cats, and the team disclosed any special medical or behavioral needs the animals had. Our sweet kitty is very happy in her new home! Thank you Nicole, Addie, and the ARL team!

Very bad experience. Left an adoption interest form on-line as requested. The person called two days later, left a vmail to call back ASAP to schedule an appointment. I called back 5min later, went straight to vmail, kept calling every 15min. No response. Finally reached them a few hours later, the cat we wanted already had another appointment. What a waste of time!!! The person did not even apologize, her tone was rather why are you even calling? There has to be a better system or they just have more pet adopters than pets and really do not care, which is obviously great for the animals and I will find mine somewhere else. Not worth it being treated this way...

A perfect place to adopt a furever friend! We adopted a 22lb senior cat from here and the experience couldnt have been better. Our cat had special medical needs and they had no problems walking us through his medical needs and explaining things when we had questions.

I adopted two of my kitty cats here. The staff is professional and extremely knowledgeable. I adopted my first female cat Milly there(Her original name is Dani) and after we realize she needs a friend we go back to adopt another kitty, the staff remember Milly(It was almost 6 months ago) and take their time to find the best cat to my house already rule by Queen Milly. They said Milly already rule the house, it would be hard to have a strong adult cat to be her friend, it has to be a soft personality male kitten, so they dont hate each other. The first time we went, they dont have any kitten available, so they told us to come back next week. We went back, and the staff showed us the cutest kitten ever, he was sleeping underneath a pile of his brothers. His name is Fluffy. Him and I love at the first sight, and of course he is mamas boy. We kept his name because suited him so well. They gave us instruction how to introduce them to each other, within a month they are already playing together and cuddle together. Its the cutest thing ever. The cats keep me and my husband together during long distance relationship and when we experience hardship. Always remind us, we need to work harder so that my cats can have better life. Thank you.

I reported a situation where an employee of a Boston Disco bar brings his dog to work and lets it run free in terror among the patrons while the music blares . The man prides himself on making the dog balance on his shoulders , from where he has fallen at times , to impress the guests .A pleasant young lady told me I would here from an investigator .I have since seen the dog in the bar and noted again that the pup ran freely amongst the crowd , cowering for places to hide .Never was the animal taken outside to relieve itself in 2 1/2 hours .What kind of rescue league are you supposed to be ?Seems like a phony organization with no actual validity .

My husband and I have been here three times and our final time here we adopted a kitten! The staff here were so helpful and informative through the entire adoption process, telling us what days of the week to come by to see new animals being brought in, when different animals would be available, explaining all of the medical treatments each animal had undergone, etc. We felt very well informed, hence why we kept coming back. The adoption process was easy and we are thrilled to have adopted through this organization!

Honestly, it was a really odd experience as soon as they saw me they turned us down by saying there are no pets available at all, then they told us there were 2 pitbull mixes after i got serious trying to read there demeanor. So i left feeling discriminated like they didnt feel like letting me adopt because of my color of skin it felt like they were only willing to give adoption to white Americans thats how i felt based on how she turned us down after just having a glanced at me. Thats how it looked, thats how it sounded, thats how i felt! 😥😭. Probably not coming back. There was a macaw outside in its cage though he was awesome! We connected nicely to bad he was already taken yet highly doubt they wouldve let us adopt him.

Just took our newly adopted rescue dog to the vet at Boston ARL for a wellness exam and rabies booster. We had a fantastic experience with everyone! Someone came out to our car to bring our dog in and while we waited in our car, we were called twice with updates. We were very happy to not be surprised by any costs, as the vets were very transparent with pricing and while describing to us all our options for various prevention medicines, the vets in no way tried to coerce us to do one thing or another. Overall great experience! Will bring our dog back here in the future to continue his prescription prevention medicines and get booster shots! Fyi, heartworm prevention was more affordable through the ARL than online sites.

The dog park is only open to neighborhood dogs when its convenient for the rescue league, which isnt very often and is often closed at random times. It makes it difficult for people to build a schedule for their dogs, who are often rescued from here. I understand prioritizing the rescue dogs, and the need to keep them separate for evaluation, but it is often completely empty for long periods of time, which suggests they just dont care about the neighborhood dogs at all.

Its a shame this agency continues calling itself animal rescue when indeed they terminated its rescue team whose boss was Brian OConnor in 2017. This was the legacy of Good-For-Nothing president Mary Nee now retired. Mr. OConnor and his rescuers of domestic and all wild animals were showed the door by ARL of Boston, all kind of wild animals in need of urgent rescue die slow, painful deaths in Boston area and whole Massachusetts. But still ARL wants your money, your donations. They say now they rescue turkey vultures, hawks, raptors, because rarely those raptors need rescue. Its disgusting to see how this former good agency stopped helping suffering animals because for the directives GREED was more important than service to all animals, without any discrimination. ARL founder was betrayed after 100 year. Now ARL is just one more dogs and cats shelter giving a damn about animals, but keeping the money in the deep pockets of the shameless people in charge of it

I adopted Melania (now Melony) the guinea pig from animal rescue league in Jan 2018. She was so shy and she would hide all day at the shelter (from what they told me), but ever since I adopted her I would hold her everyday, try to get her to take treats from me and I would just talk to her next to her cage. Everyday she is improving. Now she loves being picked up and will just lay on me and snuggle. She wouldnt talk at first but now shes louder than my other guinea pig phoebe. I can hear her squaking from all the way downstairs. She loves her veggies and she will stay out and eat while Im around and she always takes treats from me now. Im still working on her letting me pet her while shes in the cage. shes like a completely different piggie now from when I first got her. She talks and talks and runs around like a nut. She has such an amazing personality. I love her to death. My other g pig is next to her in a separate cage because they dont get along but they talk to each other through the cage sometimes. Melony was pregnant and had babies at the shelter and all of them got adopted and so did dad, but she was still there waiting for her home, I think no one Gave her a chance because she was so shy, but its always the shy ones that have the best personalities. I think animal rescue league of Boston is a great place to find your next companion. Their staff is super nice, they take great care of the animals and they make sure they go to great homes. Melony was completely healthy and still is.

I have to say, as a potential bird adopter, I was disappointed in my visit today. Im not sure they should take in birds -- I would likely suggest they refer birds to a shelter more knowledgeable about birds, or meet with something like Foster Parrots (Rhode Island) to learn about how to go about a proper bird adoption process. I visited today to inquire about a pair of baby parrots, and was told that if I forked over $800, I could take the birds home that day. No interview, and they justified the exorbitant cost by saying Its what youd pay a breeder. However, all that attitude does is encourage going to a Breeder. You should be encouraging adoption (with qualified parents) and drawing a firm line between a shelter and a breeder. Furthermore, that cost makes me worry that those birds may end up only in the hands of another breeder....I hope those babies find a good home, and that ARL depends on more than the ability to fork over money to find a good family.

I adopted my cat, Eddie from the shelter this spring. The process was easy, and the staff was very friendly. I had a few major issues that prompted me to write this review (when I normally wouldnt)1- Eddie was sent home with massive (fist-sized) mats of fur that were causing him distress and pain. I was surprised that staff missed this on a short haired cat.2- When I received him, his nails were so long that they curled back around towards his paws. Again, ouch.3- I was told that Eddie was a chronic hider and that I would be adopting Eddie as a Behavioral adoption I found that once his mats were shaved and nails were trimmed, he was quite friendly indeed4- I was told that the shelter staff would be following up to see how Eddie was doing post-adoption. Nothing.Im a little disappointed about the basic care he received.
