I was from out of area, with limited experience of actually being a hospital patient. Not so, unfortunately, for me, this time. I was treated with kindness and courtesy. I was admitted to 3rd floor and the kind respectful, care continued. They are in transition between entities, but that took nothing from my care. Would have given a 4, but hospital visits are just slow, made so by insurance requirements, and HIPPA, I guess. Same here, while we waited for results as well as being behind some that really didnt need to go to ER. Think professional patient.

I had a 3rd degree burn. New to the area I gambled on this hospital. I was taken in very quickly looked at and before I knew it I was being cat scanned and in surgery. I spent a few days. The staff were all friendly and top notch. Thank you for putting up with me and saving my leg people. Great job.

I’ve always had great experiences here, yes it’s busy sometimes but the couple times I have been the night staff have always been wonderful and attentive. The doctors always address my complaint and so far I always leave feeling better. I will always make Bluefield my first choice.

Beware! This hospital incorporate doctors from outside the area. When you come to the emergency room youre confronted by a doctor asking you to sign a paper so they can treat you. Dont do it. Ask for a resident doctor even though there arent any on call in the emergency room. Reason: The Hospital will bill your insurance for Doctor, staff and equipment. Which most insurance will cover. But the sham is this, signing that paper allows a doctor that isnt a resident at that hospital to double bill your insurance for Doctor, staff and equipment. Even though that doctor has no staff there and is using the hospitals staff and equipment. Most insurance companies dont catch this and pay. Thats what these sham artists are hoping for. My insurance paid 85.00 for the doctor through the hospital but then received a second bill from the doctor for his services that included staff and equipment. Charging anywhere between 800 and 1000 dollars extra that YOU are liable to pay. When trying to contact ANY of these doctors you can find the other hospitals phone numbers they work at but no office, no phone or any way to contact them or any staff they have. Youre always referred to a number that leads you to billing. When I confronted the Hospital administrator he continuously tried to change the subject and claiming he would look into it. I also found out that specific doctor had seen over 10 people while there that night. Must be nice to make 10000 dollars in one night. I received final notices from the doctors I had seen there even though I never received a bill from them to begin with. Another ploy to get you to pay so it doesnt hit your credit report. AND the final notices actually state that. Stay away from this hospital at all costs.

I had a fantastic experience with my delivery/c-section. I was taken care of exceptionally well, as was my baby. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience or had better treatment by doctors and staff. Pre-Op nurses were exceptional (and funny!) The food, however, was terrible.

My daughter in law went there because she was pregnant and experiencing bleeding. All they did was check for the babies heart beat, heard it, and sent her home. She went to Princeton the next day and it turned out there was a major problem! Thankfully they took care of her there. Bluefield staff just doesn’t care and is lazy.

My husband and I live on the road as truckers and last Tuesday we had a medical emergency than necessitated calling 911. 911 medics responded to our call ASAP and provided immediate care to my husband on the way to the hospital. Everyone in the hospital gave us their best and even went the extra mile to find us volunteers to drive us back to the rest area where we parked. Special thanks to the our attending physician, nurse, the 911 responders and the volunteers. Now we are back on the road with my husband looking like he was never sick and in pain. 👍👍👍👍👍 to Bluefield Regional Medical Center, WV and staff for your unselfish and dedicated service.

Some superheros dont wear capes they wear scrubs! I cannot say enough good things about the nursing staff at BRMC. They are truly wonderful. Now I see why everyone told me not to go to this hospital! Dr acted like I was a waste of his time, even though I was the only patient there when I was put in a room. He told me the ER is for real emergencies..before even checking me or doing Any tests. We had told him that my regular Dr said to go to the ER if there was any changes or I got worse, because of my current health issues and medical history. He just stood there, with his arms crossed, looking at me like I was something gross he stepped in and spoke to me as though I were a misbehaving child. Was a total jerk. Only nice people were my nurse and the girl who did my CT (and even my nurse dismissive). Everyone was rude. The nurses just sat around having social time at the nurses station. A nurse was even rude and, in my opinion, just plain Mean to an elderly man in the next bed! I progressively worsened while there, but they didnt seem to notice or care, then diagnosed me with a headache and sent me home! Never going back.. Id rather die first.. and will definitely tell everyone I know to avoid this place.

Despite this place sometimes being slow and not having caring doctors on staff, sometimes, its really worth going to. I have a very bad chronic pain condition, trigeminal neuralgia, also known as the suicide disease and every time Ive went here when my pain got out of control, Ive received nothing but helpful doctors and amazing care. Way better than any hospitals I have visited in my area. Be sure to check their wait time on their website though, it will definitely save you sometime.

Drove 2 hours to see my sister after she had her baby and the nurse inside wouldnt let me in because I didnt know a secret code. I called my sister directly to ask if she knew about a secret code and she said she didnt know anything about a code and sent her significant other to come get me. Once he was outside those doors with me they wouldnt let him in either until he explained to them on that phone that I am indeed the sister, apparently the nurse said who is that girl with you? Once he had picked up the phone. She finally let us in and when I asked why she made me wait 35 minutes and my sister to getting involved she just said that its policy they dont let anyone under the age of 12 inside. Im 21 and she never asked me my age.

Please trust the reviews!! I read them and still went...terrible decision! After waiting 5 hours in the ER I was finally taken back to be seen for what I thought was a ruptured hernia. The nurse was very nice but NEVER washed her hands and DID NOT wear gloves, even when putting in an IV!! The doctor came in for one minute literally and asked what was wrong...never even looked at my stomach to see the huge lump...never saw her again...waited another 3hrs to get a CT scan...only to be told that nothing has changed since the last CT scan I had there??? This was my first time there!! Was told to go see my regular doctor in the AM...10 hours later I left sicker than I was when I arrived!! I am type one diabetic and have been in and out of the hospital for years all over the country and this is by far the worst hospital I have ever been to!

BEWARE AND LISTEN TO THESE REVIEWS!! I took my daughter there after she was having really bad stomach pains. It was the first time Ive been there and everyone was so rude and walked around like they hated their job. They did a urine test and said everything was CLEAR and nothing was wrong with her. Now were in the er at princeton bc her pains got worse and said she has a horrible bladder infection thats reached her kidneys. Theyve admitted her and shes hooked to IVs. Pediatrician is worried bc this type of infection is hard to treat. If they wouldve done their job at bluefield, we wouldnt be in this situation right now!!! This place is one big joke and put my daughters life in danger.

I had been so sick for days, I didnt even have the energy to go to the hospital. To be honest I had heard so many negative things about BRMC I was scared to go there. But I needed to be seen and could not make it to Princeton. I am not sure why people say such bad things about this hospital. Yes I had to wait to be seen but that is to be expected at any ER. They were some of the nicest, most professional people I have had the pleasure of dealing with when I have been so ill. I am thankful to each and every one of them. I hope they know what a huge impact they can have on someones life just with a kind word and a warm smile. God Bless all the kind people who helped me tonight!

Im writing this for someone else. His name is Mr. Miller. He recently went to BRMC to be checked out with some issues he was having. The main nurse in the ER that seen Mr. Miller was really disrespectful, & just plain out mean to him. She wouldnt let him urinate on his own. According to Mr. Miller if you werent fast enough to pull your pants down to urinate that nurse would just be very rouge & rip your pants & underwear down. From there she grabbed him by the private & shoved it in the urnil & the man feels very violated by what she did. Mr. Miller is 92 years old & he didnt even get to see a Dr. They told him not to get out of the hospital bed & that he was bothering the nursing staff & then when he asked for another nurse the nurse that was seeing him told Mr. Miller that they didnt have time for him. The nurses were disrespectful to him & this elderly man didnt deserve any of the things they did to him. Do not go to BRMC because it is a joke.

My family doctor, Dr. Yates ,was going to a new job, and I had one last appointment with him for my annual physical. We also were going to tie up lose ends with my treatment. I went to my appointment and the hospital had a new Dr. in place, of which I was not informed. The new Dr. did not give me a physical. All she did was go over my medications and without knowing me, took away medications. She then passed the buck with 3 referrals to specialist. This occurred with all the other patients at the time I was in the office as well. All were upset. Bluefield regional hospital, also placed a security officer in the office because they knew full well, that what they were doing was wrong. I will report these actions to higher authoritys. This is unethical and against the Hippocratic oath. I fear some people other than myself, are, and will be hurt, If not die, due to their actions. I will take further actions to ensure this doesnt happen again, and ensure that Bluefield regional hospital has consequences due to their irresponsible actions, just as the patients have endured. Too long on wait times. Staff sits around desk laughing and joking too much when er is full. Dr is rushed, not alot of bedside care. They brush off alot of patients, guessing its due to insurance type and meds or patients prior diagnosis, example Medicaid patients and those who suffer from chronic illnesses or depression. they think everyone is after drugs, and will not treat pain. Will drive farther for better care if its a non life threatening condition.
