I pray I never need his services again, but if I do, I will not hesitate to call upon him. Dr. Corley is one of the nicest, professionals I have ever met in any industry, but for him to be a physician; he has the bedside manners of an angel. He is cautious yet informative, caring yet assertive enough. He is my colorectal surgeon of choice. I wanted him to be a GI doctor, so he could be my overall GI Specialist.

I went to this location as a referral. Met Dr. Mimi Smith, who seemed to be very kind and had a nice bedside manner. I discussed my options for treatment with Dr. Smith and chose a treatment option that would not involve a surgical procedure. However, based on the instructions I was given, I would need to be away from work a few days to do treatment. I opted for this treatment as opposed to anything evasive because Im not a fan of needles but Im surely not a fan of scapels and knives. Dr. Smith said the treatment I opted for would have me off work a few days so naturally I would like a Doctors excuse for the time I will need to be away. I was initially given an excuse that showed I had been in the office today. I got to the elevator and realized it was not the correct excuse. I go back in, speak with the receptionist to ask for an excuse showing how long I needed to be away from work. She took the excuse she previously gave me and asked me to have a seat. She closed the window and I could clearly hear Dr. Smiths nurse ask did I come back for an excuse. Now Im sitting in the waiting area alone, its quiet so I can hear the nurse whispering to the receptionist. I can hear her whisper to give me an excuse until Thursday, which is tomorrow and if I have to come back, then they will change to Monday. I took this as if they are doing everything they can to give me the least amount of time away from work as if Im trying to get over. Baffling to me, simply because the nurse was in the room during the exam and consultation and heard the Doctors instructions. This was the doctors medical opinion on the best treatment option for me and I chose the less evasive option. Even though an outpatient office procedure was the other option given, I am still very nervous about incisions, surgeries, etc and dont agree to them unless absolutely necessary. So if I need to be away from work to effectively administer treatment for my condition based on the doctors professional opinion why is the nurse whispering to the receptionist to give me a day and a half to do what the doctor told me would take a few days to do? I work for a very well known insurance company, have great medical insurance and plenty of sick and vacation time. I dont NEED their excuse to be away from work. But of course, I keep records of everything and want a proper excuse for my records. Somehow, I dont feel this would have been an issue had I not been Black. You can definitely tell when certain people accept you versus deal with you. Hopefully, my condition will fix itself with the treatment plan that I received from Dr. Smith, who in no way, shape or form do I blame or fault for the actions of the other people in her office. I will not return to this facility for any other issues and will try to go elsewhere if there are any additional problems that arise during my treatment.
