I absolutely LOVE this dentist. I didnt have dental insurance and was referred here when I finally got it. Dr. Buchanan and his staff are so friendly, informative, and helpful! I will continue being a patient here and go to them with all my dental needs.

This place is absolutely fantastic and Dr. Buchanan is by far the best Dentist that I have ever had! I feel like Dr. Buchanan actually cares about my health, well-being, and needs as a patient!The entire office is very nice and comfortable and all of the hygienists and staff members are caring and fun to talk to. They are all warm-hearted, welcoming, professional, and give the highest level of patient care.I was in need of getting my silver amalgam fillings removed and replaced and for so long my options were limited. The only places in the region where I thought I could go was a place in Tennessee and another office in Atlanta Georgia but both of those places were a 2 hour+ driving distance by car.Luckily I went back and did some more searching around and found that Dr. Buchanan was one of the only dentists in the entire state of Alabama who was properly certified and trained to SAFEly remove these toxic silver fillings correctly. So far I have 2 that have been removed and I already notice a difference in how I feel.I always enjoy my visits with them and highly recommend people to come to get all of their dental work done here at Greystone Smile Design because they are the best!Oh, and that one person down below who left a 1-star negative review must be a troll and a liar!!!

I absolutely love Greystone Smile Design! They are so personable and friendly! They also are very transparent with billing and caring for your dental needs. The hygienist are thorough when cleaning your teeth and they never pressure you to get any work done. They just lay out your options and give you their professional opinion in what work you need done, should there be any. Definitely staying with them until Dr. Buchanan retires!

After years of having mercury fillings, my husband began experiencing neurological issues. The symptoms can vary and are often misdiagnosed as other diseases. However, after further research we discovered the root cause can often be chronic exposure to mercury. We wanted to get his mercury fillings safely removed and needed to find someone SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) certified. We found out that Dr. Buchanan at Greystone Smile Design had the certification to safely remove the old mercury fillings without causing further damage from the mercury vapors. My husband had all of his old fillings replaced with the safer options they offered. The process went well & his symptoms have been improving daily. The office staff was exceptional and the cost was completely reasonable. I’d recommend Dr. Buchanan to anyone needing a dentist or that is in need of this specific service.

I love Greystone Smile Design. I have never had a bad or sub par experience with them. That’s why I stay with them no matter where I live in Alabama. I’m a Methodist Minister and I am appointed to different places and no matter where I am I choose to stay with Greystone. The Worst horrible experience everrrrrrr.The so called dr. Did not show off. Nurse is lier. They let me stayed in the room for hours just said lies that the X-ray is not mine. The office is just decoration for attracting full pockets. I wish I did not come because they don’t know how to respect peoples’ time.

My visit was great. My hygienist was Casey, who greeted me at the door. She was very efficient and thorough during my entire visit with x-rays and cleaning of my teeth. Then Dr. Buchanan did a thorough exam of my teeth and I got a good report. All employees greeted me and were very friendly.

I feel that I am getting high quality dental attention. The office staff is helpful and friendly. Dr. Buchanan only recommends procedures that are necessary. They also handle all of my dental insurance claims, and never ask for money before the insurance pays. As a matter of fact, I have not had any out of pocket expense so far. This has been my best dental experience in 25 years of living in Birmingham.

Dr. Buchanan and his staff provide excellent dental care. I have been very pleased with every visit, whether its routine cleaning or filling a cavity. Dr. Buchanans assistants exhibit the skills and attitude that make it obvious they are providing the best care possible. Likewise, I would say that Dr. Buchanan is a perfectionist when it comes to performing any treatment such as filling cavities or placing crowns. The staff at Greystone Smile Design are so friendly and personal! My daughters (6 yo and 4 yo) love going to the dentist because the staff makes them feel so comfortable. At our last appointment, one of the staff members held my 9 month old son while I got my teeth cleaned! They treat you like family.

I am originally from Madison WI and the dentists there were all about getting into my pocket book for things I truly did not need, for example caps on my teeth, they thought I should get at least 4 to 8 of them. Dr. Buchanan didn’t believe I needed no where near this many and he has always been straight up and honest about my dental needs, something I truly appreciate. Dr. Buchanan has a more conservative way of treatment for dental care. I highly recommend!

Not only do I and my boys get the best care here but we drive two hours from where we live to see Dr Buchanan and his office staff. Dr Buchanan is conservative, kind, he listens, and I have never had a problem with any dental work I have ever had at Greystone Smiles. I went to Greystone Smile Design after Googling “dentist near me” and reading all the great reviews and Dr. Buchanan’s excellent credentials. My prior dentist moved out of town, and it was time for my 6-month cleaning. My prior dentist at my last cleaning and X-rays noted a suspicious area on one of my anchoring crowns of a 4-unit permanent bridge. She said I would need implants due to the teeth having had root canals. Yikes! I had just had 3 implants during the past 3 years and that was upsetting news for me and my bank account! I told her I’d prefer to wait 6 months and see if there was actually a problem, thinking to myself I would get a second opinion. I had my films sent to Dr. Buchanan for review prior to my first appointment. Much to my surprise, he said there was a problem but that he felt implants were too aggressive at this time and recommended bridge replacement. Everyone I’ve dealt with in the office has been great through the bridge process and a filling replacement. I could not be more pleased!

Ive been going to Dr. Buchanan at Greystone Smile Design for roughly 3-4 years now. He is the best! Ive never had to wait for more than five minutes after arriving to be seen (which is almost a shame because their lobby is incredibly welcoming and beautiful, with a tv and bottled water/coffee - youll find yourself wanting to linger here!). The technicians are the best in Birmingham. You know how you dread going to the dentist because every now and then someone pokes you or has a slip of the hand that makes it painful? That has literally NEVER happened here. Everyone from the front desk to the techs to Dr. Buchanan are excellent at what they do, and the office enviroment/vibe reflects this. I have referred several people to them, some of whom live 30 minutes away, and they are happy to make the drive to see the best dentist in bham!

I recently had a routine cleaning appointment at Greystone Smile Design. After my appointment, I wanted to write this review so that I can help anyone looking for a dentist. I have been going to Dr. Buchanan for years now. He has done implants and other routine procedures on me. I can not say enough about how great he and his staff are. If you are a person who gets nervous thinking about going to the dentist, I can assure you that this is the dental office for you. There is NOTHING scary about visiting this office or having ANY procedure!!! The entire staff are so reassuring and make you feel very comfortable. More importantly, Dr. Buchanan is highly skilled, HONEST and kind! I always say, I feel sorry for people who do not know about Dr. Buchanan.

I took my 4 year old daughter to have her teeth cleaned for the first time and was so impressed with everyone on staff and how they spoke to and treated my daughter. Dawn is so good with children. My daughter was so comfortable and engaged that I think she would have stayed longer if she could have. Thank you for making it easier on me as a parent...she loves going to the dentist.

Where to start…I recently went to Greystone Smile Design as a new patient and let me tell you I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door. I walk in to find coffee, bottled water and a big screen TV, to tell you the truth I could have sat in the waiting room all day and been happy, but I was greeted and taken back almost immediately. I came in because I chipped my front tooth and was really embarrassed by it, because I am always smiling, so this made it really hard for me to have a good day. I was really nervous going in because I have never had any kind of work done to my front teeth, but I was put at ease when the assistant came in to talk to me about the procedure and ask would I like to watch a movie!!!! Dr. Buchanan came in and explained the procedure and ask if I had any questions. He did an amazing job; he is more like a magician than a dentist. My teeth have never looked this good, and the chip looked as if it had completely disappeared. Dr. Buchanan and his assistants were the nicest people I think I have ever met and the office manager made everything so simple for me when it came time for me to check out. The entire staff is wonderful and I recommend them to ANYONE needing ANYTHING done!! I will most definitely be back!!

I am what you would call a high maintenance patient. But Dr. Buchanans smile, calming presence, and excellent chair side manner ease my apprehension about going to the dentist. Not only does he have an easy to get along with personality, his superior dental skills make me feel confident about the treatment that I am receiving. Greystone Smile Design is a beautiful practice with easy access off of Highway 280. And I must say I have never sat in a dental exam chair that was so plush and comfortable. Late Wednesday night I emailed their office through their website explaining what had happened and if they could please help me!
