This is the best YMCA in the Birmingham area. The staff are friendly and nice. You will always get a nice smile and greeting when entering the building. They have the latest equipment . They have the cleanest facility. The things they have for there members the best ice machine. Compliment coffee and tea. They have everything you need blow dryer, lotion, Kleenex, swim caps, fresh white towels to use on a daily basis. A variety of classes and staff to fit your need.

Great Y. Has everything including whirlpool, sauna, steam room, and towel service, and a great staff. It is also very well maintained. A comment was made by someone else regarding security. Ive never had a problem myself, either with my locker or vehicle, and have no knowledge of any thefts or property damage occurring to anyone else. I would have given it five stars had I never visited the Y in Fishers, IN. The Fishers YMCA in my opinion sets the bar for all other Ys. Berber type carpet in the locker room, cherry wood lockers, synthetic marble countertops, huge whirlpool with infinity edges, and full size bath towels of 4 star hotel quality are just some of the features and amenities that separate the Fishers Y from any other, of the two dozen or so, that Ive visited throughout the country. But all in all, the Mountain Brook Y is an excellent facility and the finest in the Birmingham area.

Perhaps it isnt always this way, but I tried to get in the steam room and had to run out in under 30 seconds. My entire body was beat red. It was painful to breathe in there and the bottoms of my feet still hurt. It wasnt just hot. It was scalding. Im a steam room veteran so there was no getting used to this. The steam room walls and floor are made of stone. If you know anything about steam rooms that is absolutely not supposed to be the case.

We joined the Y upon moving to Birmingham and have been more than satisfied. Because you get to use all the facilities, it is great for all our familys needs. I take Pilates Reformer at MB with Amy and shes amazing!

Clean gym with friendly staff. Its a large place with plenty of equipment. Even when the parking lot is full, the crowd is manageable. To avoid a crowd, dont come between 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Even then it isnt too bad.

Great YMCA, staff is friendly, plenty of treadmills/places to work out, full size basketball court. Like any gym, it has its peak times when it’s extremely busy.

I love this YMCA the most out of all in Birmingham! The staff is friendly, the set up of where the weights are is amazing, and I love the experience. I go everyday! The staff members are starting to think I work there! Hahaha. Just dont go to the locker rooms. They be lurking!

Disgusting! The parking lot is littered with trash, more broken equipment than Ive ever encountered at any gym; cardio equipment, weight machines, hand sanitizers empty, looks like the roof leaks and the entire gym smells like stinky socks!I heard that cars were broken into & stuff was being stolen from lockers. Id give it a negative rating if I could!

I like it overall. Their weights are unlabeled and out of order. They close at 9 instead of 10 too, which is a big downside for a working man like myself.
