Carol did my facial and derma-planing treatment, I suffer from extremely dry and dehydrated skin. My facial was lovely. She showed me around the new spa before my appointment started and introduced her new partner. She showed me progress during my facial so I could see what impurities on face were being removed. She offered me a great facial serum and lip jelly, I love both. My skin is doing much better after my treatment and using my new serum in addition to my regular moisturizer! The new spa is homey, incredibly decorated, clean, and customer friendly!

I had my brows microbladed here. The job done was good. It faded before a year was up and I’ve been trying to get an appointment for a touch up—a touch up has a much lower rate than the actual microblading. No one answers the phone anymore. I’ve called many times and left messages to no avail. I do not recommend this spa due to lack of follow through.

Boy do I have a lot to say about this place. They had a bridal consignment shop here back in 2017. Thinking I did the right decision on bringing my never worn cancelled wedding dress to be sold, WRONG MOVE! These unprofessional people decided to donate my dress without my consent. They never called me or emailed me about picking it up. The only email and voicemail I had from them was about sending pictures. Lies, lies, lies. Do not go to this place as they are liars, and supposedly try to cover their rears with untrue information. Im disappointed as my dress cost me over $400 and you stole it away from me. Pathetic.

OMG Juliann changed my life! first of all the overall ambiance of the spa and all the staff is incredible. my first experience was a facial with Juliann, who is simply put, an expert in what she does. My skin has never been like this and I havent wore make up in 2 weeks- the compliments are endless!

I am not usually one to give reviews, but I am compelled to write out of my appreciation for Katie, and Carol Lewis Day Spa.My skin is far from perfect, Ive suffered from hormonal acne since my teenage years. I found Carol Lewis Day Spa through recommendation from a friend. I made my appointment, and it was by far the best decision I have made.My facial was with Katie, a beautiful young professional who is a charismatic and very knowledgeable aesthetician. She asked questions no one else had ever asked me about my skin. She wasnt concerned about the clock, she took her time focusing on every problem area. She helped me understand my skin and its needs, the science behind skincare, and tips for getting the most out of my facial. She was not pushy about selling the products. She wrote a skin care routine that would help achieve the skin of my dreams. It was the first time I was the one asking for products. Needless to say, I bought a range of skin care products that were customized for my skins needs.I left my facial absolutely glowing, my redness was gone, the hydration was restored, and best of all I had a new sense of hope that I could have beautiful skin.I am so looking forward to my next treatment of microdermabrasion and facial with Katie.

Im not going to say too much because I can go on and on for paragraphs about the incredible pampering that you receive there. Their services are Beyond what you could expect. And the place is exquisitely beautiful. Just go get a facial!!

My husband got me a groupon for my birthday here and I was so excited! I love facials. I had never been there before but scheduling was easy. It was difficult finding parking but I managed. Walking in, the spa is gorgeous and nicely decorated!When I went to lay down for my facial, the lady I had said something like “Looks like we need an eyebrow waxing today.” I appreciate selling other products or services but I politely told her I don’t get my eyebrows waxed. She then said “You should try it sometime.” I know she probably wasn’t meaning to be rude, but I didn’t take that well. It felt like she was telling me I should get my eyebrows waxed. I know others wouldn’t have taken her comments as lightly as I did.I’ve tried calling and emailing the spa since then, asking to talk to the manager (was only able to leave a voicemail) and they haven’t gotten back to me to talk about this. So this was my last resort. I really don’t like talking about company’s this way but I don’t want another woman to go there thinking she needs to get her eyebrows waxed. That is our choice and not an opinion we are expecting going into a facial.

Ellen - literally the most amazing facial I have ever had. Thank you for relaxing me to the point where I never thought possible. My skin looks amazing. I drive from Canada just to see her! Recommend her to anyone!

The spa was warm, friendly, and clean. Katie was super outgoing and professional. My face felt amazing afterwards, definitely will be referring friends!

Yesterday was my first time at the new location and I was surprised to like it even more than the last. The aesthetic is upscale, exclusive and peaceful. I was serviced by Noelle for the first time- she provided waxing services as well as a facial. She is absolutely amazing!!! Fast, efficient, professional, knowledgeable and funny as hell! My brazilian wax was a breeze and she showed me how much better hard wax is. I believe I got the cherry blossom facial- my face feels like butter!!! She removed some ingrown hair from my chin area and addressed my hyperpigmentation & scarring. I will be seeing her on a regular basis to see the full benefits of the treatments. Im already scheduled for my first microdermabrasion and wax next month. I live 2 hours away from Birmingham and plan to see her consistently moving forward- that should tell you something!! 5 stars, always, as Carol obviously knows how to put together a great team.

As far as the spa area: Beautiful inside & has a great ambiance. Never experienced the actual services, but it is gorgeous and looks very appealing.If youre there to look at the used wedding dresses in the basement being sold on consignment, or looking to sell your own dress, I wouldnt bother. My sister tried on several & loved one plus a bolero; we left our names & numbers for her to contact either of us once shed found the prices. Neither of us ever heard from her despite several attempts to contact her. But weve gotten NUMEROUS emails about the spa. I had to opt out 3 times before they finally stopped.

Carol Lewis and her team are wonderful. Ive suffered with severe acne for 10+ years and nothing worked until I started doing microdermabrasion and microneedling with Juliann. Juliann is wonderful and knowledgeable about skin and how to treat it well. Whenever I visit, I am greeted warmly by the kindest, most welcoming people. I would recommend their services to anyone- woman or man, old or young- it doesnt matter! Anyone can benefit from a good skin treatment or massage. I would give them more stars if I could. Absolutely wonderful people and fantastic service!

Got a call 40 minutes before a scheduled massage to say only that they dont have a masseuse today and mine and my wifes massages are cancelled. Super awkward phone call, and no offer of literally anything as an apology, didnt even ask if we wanted to reschedule. Learn proper customer service. If youre forced to make such a phone call, be prepared and perhaps do something to try and keep a client. Would never recommend based on my interaction today.

I needed a new place to get waxed and found Carol Lewis Day Spa .. VERY LUCKY FIND! They are very professional, I had called 5 places before calling her only to be put on hold for 5 minutes (then I hung up). Carols answers right away and no hold. The wax was perfect and painless. I felt very comfortable getting a Bikini plus wax. And she didnt miss a hair. She has something like 17 years experience and boy does that make a difference. I will repeat and try other services they offer.

The staff was very nice !! However, before my facial my skin was absolutely perfect . Never broke out . Everyone complimented my skin . I got a facial for the first time here . I wanted to give a facial a try for the first time and have a relaxing day with my friend . I literally broke out into an allergic reaction covering my entire face two days later .. I had to go to the dermatologist ; got a cortisone shot and received topicals. I called the salon and she’s goes , “ did you eat strawberries or something!?” First of all , I’m not allergic to any foods . Second of all, does she’s keep up with her ceu’s ( continuing education classes ) days after I also noticed how I developed scarring in the sides of my chin ... A month following that I now break out in small red pimples on my face and I absolutely never have before . If you’re looking to ruin your skin then come here . My skin was flawless before . I will now be making my second expensive dermatologist appointment since this facial. I do not recommend !!!!!

Ive had facials here a few times and one manicure and pedicure here. The facials are great but I would never get another manicure or pedicure here.I received a pedicure during the winter and was told shortly after that they were closing but that my nails should be dry enough to put my shoes on. I tried to tell the lady that my nails always smudge if I dont wait at least 30 minutes but she insisted they were fine. They ended up smudging and I felt like it was a waste.Another time I used a gift certificate for a spa manicure and was under the impression this meant I would get a full service manicure. I had my nails trimmed and painted and nothing else. I was shocked that was it. The paint job was terrible as well.I gave 4 starts because the facials are very nice and I like the products they use. I havent returned because its impossible to book online as the website doesnt seem to work on any browser I try.

I had a very strange experience with this place. ..last week, I went in for a facial. I found them on groupon and I was just looking to get a cheap, basic facial. I called and they were able to get me in that day. Great. On the phone, I told the woman that I could be there in an hour. She said that’s fine because everyone cancelled because of the weather and that they will stay for me. It was 2pm... lol they close at 7pm. She then asked me if I had a gift certificate to use, I said no. She said okay great and I was on my way.I get to the place and immediately am rushed up to the facial room. I tell the esthetician that whatever the groupon is for, that’s the type of facial I’m getting. Immediately pissed off, she leaves the room. For literally 10 minutes. I come back and she starts the facial (which literally lasted for less than 10 minutes) and starts telling me how she’s an award winning esthetician and blah blah blah. I’m like okay, congrats... but you suck right now.So I finish up (in 10 minutes), and head downstairs to pay. The woman at the front starts badgering me about how I used a groupon and that is so inconsiderate because they waited for me (it’s 3pm at this point and again; they close at 7pm). She then reiterates on this award winning esthetician. And KEEPS bombarding me with how much of a burden it was that I was using Groupon. Literally would not give it up... I was so uncomfortable. I then start to tell her that I apologize she doesn’t like groupon, but that’s how I found them and if they didn’t like it they probably should choose not to be on it.Very strange interaction that went on way too long. Bottom line, don’t treat your customers like this. It’s awkward. And don’t be on groupon if you pose this award winning esthetician.I’ll give them two stars because they’re place is very cute in downtown Birmingham. Just staff the building with better people and you’ll be good to go.

I have been seeing Ellen for 10 years to get facials. I have now moved to Phoenix and do not visit Michigan very often. I had scheduled a facial appointment and arrived on time. I was told if I cam eat 1pm, I could get a full facial from 1-1:45. Ellen did not take me into her room till 1:30 and I was done by 1:50. I was never told that I was actually booked for a mini-facial. The front desk girl lied to me when I booked my appointment. I was in/out in 20 minutes and was charged $65! I was so frustrated and mad that I was coming from out of town and no one could make time to provide a full facial. On top of that, I got robbed for paying $65 for 20 minutes worth of service. Also, while ringing me up no one mentioned I was charged a service charge for using my credit card. I realized this after the transaction and looking at my receipt that day.I had a terrible experience and after 10 years I plan on never ever going back to Carol Lewis Day spa again! I will find another spa to visit when I come back to town.

Ambiance was great, however services are incredibly overpriced and somewhat misleading. I came here and was going to purchase a groupon for a facial and was told not to purchase it and that they would honor the groupon. Upon seeing my technician, she was late, tried to upsell me a hydro facial and also wanted to tint and tweeze my eyebrows. I asked about costs and she told me the eyebrow services would be $25. Im not typically a picky person when it comes to my eyebrows - but she did an okay job at best for charging $25 - not only that, at the end I was charged another $25 - something I wasnt informed that I would be charged for the tinting, and the hydro facial time was a half hour shorter and almost triple the price of the regular facial.I felt like they didnt have my best interests in mind and were just trying to make more money. Next time, just buy the groupon! This seems like a bait and switch tactic.

I tried to schedule an appointment for my daughter in law for a massage and the recpetionist was not very helpful. She did not speak english very well so I could hardly understand her. I asked her what the differences were between an aromatherapy massage and a thereaputic massage and her response was I dont know you can come in and ask the girl who does your massage. What kind of response is that!? I then asked to speak to a manager and she said we do not have a manager. At this point Im livid. l hung up and will not be giving this place my business.

***UPDATE it appears the spa has refunded the money via paypal and offered to post a gift certificate in this instance explaining their gift certificates are supposed to be printed off.I do not have the receipt to look at as I write this as Im on holiday, however, it was not clear to me that the paypal receipt was the gift certificate? I can recall that it looked like there were two options - one to have it emailed to you and one for it to be posted.Previous review:Disappointing experiencing with gift certificate. Money paid and no gift certificate. Must now escalate with Paypal.Bought my mom a birthday present of a gift certificate via their website with paypal but did not receive the certificate. Called a few times in the space of 3 weeks leaving messages with receptionist but did not get a reply. Called again and spoke to someone who said they had no certificate for me. I asked them to let their manager know I was unhappy with my experience and it was only then she said she was the manager, offered that if I called when they were closed they would not get the message and did not try to offer any apology.Paypal actually showed the money as being taken from my account and transaction completed, but the spa said they did not receive the funds. I will be getting a refund via Paypal. Very frustrating!
