If I could give a zero star rating, I would. They failed to even provide the bare minimum of care for my father and they should be ashamed. While times are hard right now, that is a poor excuse to treat people so poorly, without visitors the staff are their only interaction and some time spent with them is crucial. They made him feel insignificant and not worth their time. We were only allowed to visit through the window which is hard enough. They refused to help him when he asked. He was only there for a month and within that time frame my father became severely dehydrated. What was meant to be a short trip for rehab only created more problems. His mental health took a huge hit from being there as well. This would be the last place I would reccomend for anyone to send their loved ones.

A loved one stayed there last year. Many of her ailments were discarded and not taken serious. She was seen more as an annoyance and there was an excuse for any complaint. Some very good CNAs that keep the place afloat and some nurses that were helpful but still make excuses. Discharging from there led to a year long battle we are still fighting. Even a week out from her discharge, they were calling for payment, not even to asking how she was doing once. She was home for 4 days and then went into the hospital for 2 weeks because of everything they ignored. A lot can change in a year with so much staff turnover but please do your research, there are more reliable facilities out there.

Do NOT send your family here. They will be neglected and not taken care of. Ask around; look at the other reviews. This place is one of the worst around. Should be shut down.

Terrible place. In just 31 days of rehab after a cva, my father was discharged home worse than before he went here. It took bay shores 31 days to dehydrate, malnourish and cause muscle atrophy in my dad. We dropped of 4 new outfits that they lost in 31 days. Also, the oxygen needed for home discharge was not even ordered until after my dad was dropped off so he went without O2 for 45 minutes with an spo2 of 88%. They never even bothered to put in the hospice referral that the doctor ordered. I had to call around and figure it out myself. Just a terrible place, please take your loved ones home asap.

My grandmother could not stop giving the facility and staff amazing reviews on her quality of care as she recovered from severely painful spinal compression fracture and fractured hip. My mother also was happy with the quality of care and cleanliness this facility offered. Will definitely be used again if we need to!

Do not take your loved one here ! If I could give them 0 stars I would. My mom was brought here for rehab after knee surgery . I thought because they were rated a 5 star facility (no clue how they got that ). that she would be fine. I ended up spending hours there everyday taking care of her myself. It would take so long for her call light to be answered, she ended getting a urinary tract infection, and pneumonia and kept getting worse every day. I finally had her sent to the hospital one night myself . The Dr at the hospital said she was within hours of death ! Complete neglect and incompetence! She ended up with sepsis and losing a kidney. I never took her back there but she suffered for 5 more months until finally passing away from her other kidney failing and sepsis. By writing this I’m hoping I can prevent this from happening to your loved one.

Let me start by saying that there are many nice people that work at MCLaren Bay Shores Rehab and Nursing Home Facility but Administration needs to step up and make an effort to cross train their employees so that they are able assist families in the needs of their loved ones.My mother was originally admitted to the facility for PT, OT and to begin her radiation treatments at Jeppsen with Dr. Littles. After aboit 10 days she had to be discarged because according to them she meant the PT and OT expectations. We then we had to private pay so she could finish out her radiation before moving to SE Michigan with her family. When a patient is private pay they do not encourage them do anything. They say they cant force them to get out of bed. One night she had vomited and they did not even clean her up, change her clothes or bedding. I asked the social worker in the morning to look up her chart and it said nothing about her being ill, all it said that she felt nauseated. So, unfortunately being that she laid in a bed for 3 weeks, she now has to go through PT and OT all over again. She cant even get out of a chair, use the restroom or get out of bed without assistance. She is actually in worse physical condition than when she originally was admitted to that facility. Think Twice before you place your loved one at Bay Shores. If you cant be there everyday to check on them, move them closer to you.
