Was admitted on a Friday, ended up staying until Wednesday. Staff was helpful and very friendly and compassionate with my situation. Had a scare but it was handled quickly and I was able to recover enough to continue my care. Thank you to all the nurses who work hard there, you all have a tough job but you make the best of it. ♥

No matter what ER or urgent care you go to in Maryland It’s gonna be a long LONG wait. More now due too covid. Rooms are packed and there’s a huge shortage with staff. I totally get it but Out of all of them Harbor Hospital is the BEST. And I work for Hopkins!!!. 2016 I was about to have my daughter at hopkins but she decided to come earlier then expected, during a snowstorm and the ambulance could only bring me to Harbor. Anyways my daughter and I both were very well taking care of at this place and every single staff member in labor and delivery were just absolutely amazing to have, especially for my first time giving birth. 21 months later I had my son at Hopkins, n it was the worst and the staff were just extremely rude and nasty to us. um hello I’m one of there own for god sakes. Anyways, all I can say is Harbor is well worth the wait, and thank you sooooo much Jerry Gross. I will never forget what you did for me yesterday. Harbor is my #1 and highly HIGHLY recommend to anyone that wants to be treated like a human being and have the BEST care possible to go there. THANK YOU HARBOR HOSPITAL 💕💕

This hospital is a mess. The ER waiting room was absolutely littered with trash, they left someones puke bucket sitting on a chair after they took him back, the bathroom was disgusting and clearly hadnt been cleaned in a long time. Its concerning if they cant take care of simple things, how do they handle keeping other things clean? I feel for the staff working during this time but a dirty hospital is unacceptable.

The amblunce took my elderly mom to harbor medstar, glad I was with her. Waiting on covid test results for at least 2 hours nurse thought other nurse swab her, so it was never done. Nurse told me that becuz I asked what happened to first test.mom was hook to iv for fluids, she was dehydrated. I notice bottle looked like it wasnt going down, I brought to nurse attention, she suupposively solved issue. 2 hours later still no change to find out is was not hooked up properly, so she was getting no fluids. We were waiting covid results 2 - 3 hours later, to be told by nurse she thought other nurse requested test, to find out it was never done. I could not go the back until they had a room, so all this was prior to me going in the back. Thats when I started noticing and asking questions. They probably thought she was alone, I was in my car. Same 2 nurses were suppose to hook her up to heart monitor, when next shift came, they say it was hooked properly but not turned it was on, thats why they couldntget blood. Nurse told me she got blood from my mom stuck her over 5 times per the tech, no blood. She was dehydrated, I wasnt in room yet. Tech advised me nurse never got blood, thats why she was there to draw it. Glad her life did not depend on them, she would have been dead. Incompetent n uncaring

My mother was transported to the ER on 8/26/21. My. Husband and I called to find out about visitor restrictions. We were told we couldn’t wait in thw waiting room but could go to her room. When we got there, Rico at the information desk told us she hadn’t been evaluated yet so we had to go outside. This wasfine, My wife is a healthcare provider and we understand the pandemic restrictions. They asked for my phone number so We could be updated. About 90 minutes later we saw the ambulance pull out of the ER bay. We went in to find out what was going on. We were told she was in a room and we couldgo back 1 at a time. My wife went back first since she is medically trained. She spent time and then came out to get me. The same officer who told us that we could visit her 1 at a time then said we could not switch visitors. Mywife went back, talked to the nurse, and we were able to switch. I stayed with my mom for the rest of the time. While I was waiting to go back I witnessed very inconsistent enforcement of mask regulations, and several incidents of multiple visitors entering and leaving. What was worse was that Rico was laughing at a group of people outside the door who were praying for their dying loved one. My wife witnessed the same inconsistent enforcement of restrictions. Also, there was inconsistent wearing of masks by the staff. I will say, the nurses were mostly nice and mostly respectful of my mother, who has limited memory. My wife talked to the doctor who was nice, but couldn’t answer her questions, stating that they were better addressed to the specialist. He did give her contact information. If given a choice we will never go to this hospital again.

Took my brother to Medstar Harbor Hospital What a joke. Started by being greeted by the registrar who ask everyone their social security number out loud. We watched as people came in. We’re triaged, not sure how they determined who went back but we didn’t!! For hours, We sat and sat and sat. Patients came in, non emergencies, with certain looks and words they were taken right back?We watched as wheelchairs were put back after use, and not cleaned. A basin that someone spit up in that sat on the chair it was there when we left. Registration laughing and talking about people loudly! Other patients came in didn’t appear to be serious we’re taken right back , working the system. Finally , hours later we were taken back only to have a pompous , non caring, judgmental Doctor. Who did nothing , didn’t take any bloodwork , didn’t do an EKG on my brother, just told him he needs to do certain things and he doesn’t have a car , has difficulty walking, breathing and getting around. How’s he supposed to get there, walk?My brother doesn’t complain and I knew he needed help, that’s why we came there , just to be basically turned away! Im sure they billed the insurance company! For wrapping his legs, big deal! So very disheartening , disappointing and disgusting!Never again! What has become of our healthcare system!!08/09 filled out the response as indicated, haven’t heard a word from anyone!! Ridiculous!!In the meantime my brother still gets sob, can barely walk and his legs swell uplike balloons. He had no care yesterday, has no PCP, and the response from Medstar Harbor Hospital was they will do whatever they can to help, when?? When will you do something! It didn’t happen yesterday, nor today?

Even theAnesthesiologist that gave me my epidural was so kind and patient with me because I was in sooo much pain. I was here from Thursday until Sunday. I wish I remembered everyone’s names but a few nurses that I could remember were Morgan, Michelle( both of them), Danielle, Samantha, and JULIA( the nurse that helped deliver my daughter) all amazing ! I’m not sure about other departments but the labor and delivery department definitely gets 5 stars from me and my husband. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so comfortable in a hospital. I wish I knew the ladies name that took my information at the desk because she was great also. My OBGYN was Dr. Hraky and he was great as always. Julia I hope you see this review, you’re an amazing nurse and I hope you continue giving other new mothers the same experience you gave me! She didn’t explain much to us and got mad at us for not knowing, and well, we were first time parents. This place could easily go down as the worst hospital in the city and their Emergency department exemplifies that. Long wait, very little communication , arrogant and pompous staff. Waiting to get care is usually not problem if communication is good. Waited 10+ hour just to be seen. Sat their and watch multiple times staff called security to put people out in minor things. Staff at this location desperately need training . If they could treat their customers on initial contacts like trash, imagine how they would treat admitted customers. This place should be a matter of last resort and only when the zombies show up and all other hospitals are closed should you think of patronizing this place.

After about 3.5 hours of crying and throwing up blood in the Er waiting room my boyfriend put me in the car and drove me to Mercy Medical Center where the staff came and got me out of the car took me straight to get my vitals done and to the back in a room. I am so furious that my daughter had to die in this hospital in the condition that she was in. When she passed away on the morning of 2/17/2019, I was so devastated and at the same time i was relieved. My personal assessment of the physical care that the nurses gave to my daughter was very good. However, I am appalled at the rudeness towards me. I had ridden a Greyhound bus for almost 14 hours to get to my daughter before she passed. I was exhausted and hungry, and most of all worried that I wouldnt be able to get there in time.Friday 2/15 I asked for my daughters food trays because it was obvious that she couldnt eat that food. Why would the staff be so rude as to treat me by refusing me a food tray, even when I offerred to pay for it.why did the nursing staff acknowledge the boyfriend as being in charge. He put a cheap looking ring on my daughters finger and passed himself off as her husband. I reminded they were not married, never had been, and Maryland had no common law marriage on the books that would be legal. On Sat 2/16 the boyfriend came back to the hospital with his friend. That man starved my daughter to death. Yes, the Stage 4 bladder cancer killed her, but he finished her off by not getting home health care to come to the apt to cook and feed my daughter and bathes her.At the hospital, no one tried to clean her hair or to even comb her hair.I was assaulted and threatened by the boyfriend. I called the police to come and take him out.As if that wasnt enough, my daughter was being given 1 mg of a strong pain medicine every 2 hours to keep her comfortable and then a nurse comes in to give her a dose of Methadone --supposedly to keep her from the withdrawals. Yes, I called them stupid. Because pain medicine would not let her go into withdrawal. Finally, on 2/17 at 8:15 am my daughter passed away and she went to be with Jesus. I was abruptly told that I would have until noon to be with her and to make arrangements for her. But at 11 am, I was very rudely informed that I had to leave. My grandson had been threatened by the boyfriend so he took off Friday night and went back to S.C.I worked as a LPN from 1969 - 1979 at South Baltimore General Hospital. It became a top notch General Hospital for South Baltimore.I was a Med-Surg nurse on the original South Main 4 floor.I will never recommend this hospital to anyone. Some of the rudest people in the field of nursing and medicine.

I had surgery at this hospital on August 12th. I was a little nervous, because I have never been to this hospital, but this is the hospital that my doctor is affiliated with. I had to stay for 2 nights after the surgery. The surgery team was great, but once I got on the floor, I was not pleased. All the nurses did was give me pain meds when I asked and the tech check vital signs twice in a 12 hr shift. The nurses were in the hallway acting like a party was going on, talking all loud about inappropriate conversations. I had a catheter put in and my husband requested to have it emptied and it still was not done for 12 hrs, I had to request to have my sheets changed, I was not given anything to wash up with, until I asked for it. I have been admitted to a hospital before and the nurses would wash you up, while you had the catheter in. The nurses never encouraged me to get out the bed to start moving around. I had to request that also. I knew what needed to be done, because I had 3 caesareans. The nurses may have been pleasant, but very lazy. When it was time for me to be discharged I was ready around 2pm, but had to wait 5 hrs for the nurse to finally print out my discharge papers. There need to be some changes made. I felt like this hospital has a staff of rejected nurses.

Brought my mom here twice in 24 hours. Second time was because of her taking too many meds. They were absolutely wonderful both times and very professional. Dr. Yacynych was fantastic as well as the nurses and techs. Not much of a wait time at the E.R.

Good thing it was not life threatening situation I was in the hospital for about 6 hours. I seen the doctor about two times one to ask questions then to discharge me the nurse once just to draw blood. Dont get me wrong if they was crowded but it wasnt this time..

I had my first surgery at Harbor Hospital on Monday 7/30/2018, I walked in super nervous (I didnt sleep at all before the procedure) and almost in tears because of fears.Although the hospital is a bit outdated (made my fears worse), the nurses were awesome!!! They comforted me and even made me laugh a few times before the surgery. I am really happy with the service I was provided and if I ever have to get a surgery again (I pray I dont) I hope to have the same team that was there on Monday.Only con is the hospital is outdated.

They will let you die in the Emergency Room. I repeat DO NOT go to this hospital. they are super slow, I have waited in the Emergency Department waiting room for over 5 hours in severe pain. about 3 people walked out because they have been waiting to be seen longer than I have. many patients were leaving out after being seen and still no one being called back to be seen. One man left out of the Emergency Department Rooms and said “ they will let you die in here before you see a Dr. “ I still have NOT been seen by a doctor or PA. WORST HOSPITAL EVER. I work as a health professional, have a few licenses and certifications and I will never recommend Harbor Hospital to any patients ever again. If I could give 0 stars I would.

The nurses were the best thing about this hospital, they took very good care of me while I was there, answered my questions better than the so called Drs. The nurses came everytime I hit the call button, even went out her way to get me a sandwich after dinner was served.Nurses 5 STARS Doctors 1 star

I echo the sentiments of another reviewer, Aij Asemova who said, “I would give this hospital 0 stars if I could.” If you value your life as well as your personal health and financial information, DO NOT GO to this hospital! I have never been a patient at this hospital, but in March of 2018, they admitted another patient under MY medical record and MY medical insurance and I have been living a nightmare ever since. Incompetence doesn’t begin to describe the manner in which this horrific error has been handled. Not only did they merge my and the other patient’s medical records, they tried to lie about it afterward! Six months later, and I am STILL dealing with the repercussions of the multiple mistakes made by this organization!By the way, this incident was NOT one of identity theft as the robot-of-a-person who responds to these posts tried to suggest. This was an admission error of the worst kind, either committed out of poor training, or pure carelessness or BOTH!!! The other “victim” in this case did NOT steal my identity….it was given to them when they showed up at Harbor’s ER. This also violated HER privacy as well as mine, since I could see all the procedures and treatments she was receiving when I got a copy of my health record! I also could see the same information when I received statements from my insurance company! The people at this hospital seem to have a wide and varied definition of the truth!

My doctor sent me to the hospital because 8 months and high risk. When I got there I was comfortable immediately. One nurse went out of her way to make sure I was ok. I even took the time to fill out the daisy award for nurses on my own. Its like I couldnt find the words to say. I believe her name is nurse marley. I hope when I give birth there in a couple of days she is on duty. Thank you very much.Martina pamplin

Emergency room was well run. The hospital was an entirely different story. No communication or miscommunication from Drs. They let my father lapse into a semi-concious state after oding him on pain medication from a botched procedure. Had to get the patient advocate at another hospital to intercede. He was tranferred to UMMC where the staff questioned how his case was handled. He never woke up from his coma and died a month later. When he arrived at Harbor he was walking and talking and had been at work the day before. Do not go here if you can avoid.

I had to stop n write a review about the great experience I had today .. I will admit I was a little nervous taking my dad to have his first surgery ever at this hospital after reading the reviews but today changed my perspective . I have never gone to the emergency room here or anywhere els except the same day surgical center . Also this one girl with glasses at the cafe was also super friendly n always had a smile on her face .I will honestly say this is one of the best customer service including doctors nurses and pas, anesthesiologist me and my dad have ever experiencedIt was not too busy today thankfully . My dad had a same day surgery on his shoulder with Dr Curl. All the staff in the same day surgery center on the second floor were so wonderful especially the nurses . They took such great care of my dad n answered every question I had . Im really happy we had such wonderful team assist us . Its good to know theres still good hospitals n ppl in the world that really love their job n that care about their patients . God bless them . N hope anyone who goes here gets the same great experience we had .
