Urgent Care staff was so competent and professional! I was in and out quickly, and I feel 100% better. The staff was terrific. Everyone was knowledgeable, efficient and kind. Id give them 10 STARS if I could.

So now its open enrollment time. YEA!!!!!! The experience with BFMC and Anthem Blue Cross Senior Secure HMO has been worse than a very bad toothache. HMO does not mean carte blanche on errors, and on the very least that you can provide and then less. I spent many hours on the phone trying to get errors fixed. They dont have the time to do things right, but they have time to do things over. That must be their motto. Their depth of coverage of specialists is non-existent. BFMC is a very scary HMO. They make it easy to give up and just die.I am still waiting on the correct MDE that was originally ordered in June. We are now in October. One of their authorizations was to send me to Culver City when the specialist could see me here in Bakersfield. Of course, that error added extra days to the already 14 days it took them to authorize in the first place. Hey, whats more than a few extra days to BFMC to correct and mail again at their leisure. Oh yeah, and lets not forget that one girl who called me the afternoon before a procedure to tell me that she was looking at the chart and what she then said was the total opposite of my visit with the PA. SCARY, VERY SCARY.I guess things boil down to what you are willing to put up with and accept for YOUR well being. The quality of our healthcare demands proficiency in all aspects of our care. BFMC and Anthem Blue Cross Senior Secure HMO lack the qualities to provide this service. They are inefficient at best. If we dont speak up and demand quality, dignified healthcare then we are dooming ourselves to the malpractice that comes with substandard care.As people age, they are less willing and probably unable to demand that they not be killed and maimed and left to long term suffering by you healthcare administrators. However, you should all be made to be held accountable.Dont do it. Do not choose a health plan that uses BFMC. Good grief. I cant speak to how competent the actual patient staff is because the office staff is quite lacking in abilities. How difficult can it be to make an appointment? Evidently, quite difficult for at least some of the primary physician staff. Ive been told to call back. Ive been placed on hold only to be hung up on after being on hold over 4 minutes, multiple times. Ive been put on hold and while on hold Ive been transferred to another patients phone. When I called the office back and told her what happened, she wanted to put me on hold again. UGH. While on the hunt for a primary care physician office who could actually make an appointment, I attempted to contact another primary care physician on the list of primary care physicians, and what do you know, a voicemail.I have determined that BFMC urgent care will be my primary care physican until open enrollment, as it should not be such a project to make an appointment for anything. When a patient calls, make the appointment and then that leaves you free to move on to something else. Stop the nonsense.

I recently changed my insurance through my work as this one was more cost effective. I was pleasantly surprised. I brought my 1 year old in and the entire waiting time from start to finish was 1hour. Not bad for an urgent care. I called ahead and Gaby gave me an apt an hour from the time I called. The front desk staff to the nurse and the doctor were all pleasant. I am happy I made the change!

Just moved to Bakersfield from L.A, so I was in need of changing my primary care doctor, I found Bakersfield Family Medical Center because I thought it would be good to have my doctor and urgent care all in one. Went to Urgent Care last night for pain in my knee, the staff was super friendly, and funny, and took my visit seriously, and understood the pain that I was going through, I did not once feel like just another patient I highly recommend this place

Dr’s and staff leave before their office schedule dictates! The urgent care requires me to bring my 4 yo into urgent care when she is not sick or in need of immediate care just to give a referral for a smashed toe! Causing risk of catching unknown illnesses, not even willing to do a video conference! Common sense escapes them for the thought of losing a copay or diagnosis charge! Absolute garbage! Screw the administration at BFMC!

While I have had some bad reviews of BFMC urgent care in the past, after my 23 day ordeal, at the BFMC UC, I have to write new review. I got to meet every nurse at the Urgent care. All of them were great. While I cant remember all of their names, Nurse Stacy and Nurse Brad were my typical Nurses. Awesome care, I cant praise them enough. The Nurse Practitioner Mrs. Stewart (aka Nurse Ratched) is also exceptional. She diagnosed my issue correctly on my first visit. My Primary Doctor sent me to a Urologist, a general surgeon, and finally a Dermatologist, to find out Nurse Stewart nailed it on Day 1. I cant recommend her enough. Stellar performance, awesome NP.While I make every effort to avoid the Urgent Care, if I have to return, at least I know there is an incredible staff there to take care of me. Thanks BFMC UC!

Very poor service, my wife and I went in for the covid-19 testing. After the nurse did the test, we had to wait in the room for over an hour before the doctor came to see us. When I asked the workers at the front desk what was taking so long, I got a rude reply from one of the doctors on staff. She said, well this is an urgent care and we are busy. I felt like we should not have been in the room for over an hour for a covid-19 test. There was only two people in the lobby when we arrived.

The people who work her were nice and cordial. The problem was if you are not 65 or older they will refuse to test you for covid and this is the only place in town covered by my insurance. But the did tell me to go to a free one and lie and say that we dont have insurance. They also told me to come down and that my insurance provider would decide if they could test me.Lie they also told me that the lab told them that they are to not take anymore tests from people younger than 65.My wife 38 weeks pregnant, not high risk?We just went circles with them. The policy is ridiculous!

Been waiting for 3 1/2 hours. They said there was one person in front of me. 35 minutes later Doc comes in takes him less than 5 minutes to evaluate me then leaves. You would think 5 minutes per patients they could get to me much faster. Staff is very friendly but service really sucks. If you can stay away from this place. Your likely to die waiting.

I was very grateful because we were going to go to another place, and then we decided to go to Accelerated Urgent Care. And Wow, I can’t say enough good about the whole experience..I had the privilege of havingDr. Washington as my Doctor that day,He was so kind to explained everything to me, I left feeling confident knowing my Lord heard our prayers in leading us to “Accelerated Urgent Care,” on Brimhall. You can see that that staffing is organized and they were together as a team .The staffing the doctors, the PA ‘s, nurses everyone was more than wonderfulThank You

The Bakersfield Family Medical Pediatric Center provided fast & friendly service for both of my kids being new patients. Dr. Shah was very nice, attentive, spoke in terms the average non-medical personnel would understand and really made us feel welcomed. We also visited the lab to have blood and urine samples taken: there were more people waiting here but we were out of there in less than 20 minutes for it being a full room.

This is a very happy report about BFMC!Yesterday i had to go to urgent care to get my rings cut off! I got bit by a mosquito and my finger was really swollen to the point that my finger was changing colours!I get to BFMC without ever being there as a patient! I got there about 7 pm! They close at 8 pm!I was taken in almost right away by a very friendly tech to take my vitals! Then was escorted to another room to wait for a provider! The nurse (Michelle) came in and tried for a long time to cut the rings but her hand cramped up! I felt so bad for her! She left saying she would bring the doc in to cut them being that he’s stronger! Dr Gonzalez was great! He had the rings off in no time!❤️BFMC has a great staff in ANY department I’ve gone to! They are very friendly and puts everyone at ease! They have great programs of different sorts!I’m very impressed how they really do care about others! I’ve observed on many occasions of how people are treated and not once have I seen or heard anyone be rude to anyone! It’s very refreshing to see that in places like BFMC! They truly do care!!

My father was being set to move early. He wasn’t stable. He was actually moved to a room to help stabilize him but was moved too soon according to the social worker at the hospital. I called BFMC on his behalf. I was told they couldn’t afford to keep him and he needed to be moved. My mom asked if we could have time to find a closer location at least. On the first call we were told they’d have to kick him out if they didn’t move him right away and we would have to find a place to care for him. Or that we would have to provide care at home. The hospital social worker advised us this wasn’t the case. My mom called back and was cursed out by their employee, the employee used misogynistic phrases and hung up on her. He was moved 3 hours away and was no longer conscious when he arrived. He was coherent when he left and in a coma from arrival until death. What’s done is done; there’s nothing to make up for their actions. I am sharing this for other families sake so they don’t go through this too.

Urgent Care Review: Short version: Patient care was their priority, not numbers or computer systems.I took my wife who was very ill on a Wednesday morning. First time patient there, front office staff were very helpful with what to fill out. Paperwork to fill out was minimal for a first time visit (took less than 3 minutes). Asked if we could get her in a room early so she could lie down, which they accommodated given the reason for visit. (Most places wouldnt do this). The RN or CNA who drew her blood hit the vein on the first try, on my severely dehydrated wife, who has rolling veins (Amazing!). The next RN or CNA noticed that the IV they added was leaking very slightly, and took the time to test multiple parts on the line to find the leak, and fix it. The PA came in and went through the possibilities of what it was, and sent us on our way to a radiology site nearby to get imaging done. Results of bloodwork and imaging were done within 2 hours of leaving, and it took a simple call to get the results. When I called, they put the PA that saw my wife on the phone to tell me the results.Out of all of the urgent cares Ive gone to in my life, this was the best. Thank you all.

They must be a broke center and cant manage funds for these services.

This is the worst HMO I have ever encountered. My father had AARP UnitedHealthcare and got urosepsis in one of their skilled nursing facilities. He ended up in the hospital for a few days and they wanted to discharged him right back to the same SNF. When I appealed to QIO Livanta they retaliated and said that he no longer qualified for a skilled nursing facililty and I was to take him home with active MRSA and a stage 3 bedsore. They tried to get me to private pay at Assisted Living but I kept filing grievances with UnitedHealthcare. They kept promising SNF but would not deliver. I had to finally get a Bad Faith attorney involved and lose the medicare advantage plan. Just go to any hospital and mention BFMC and watch the doctors roll their eyes. They are notorious for not paying their bills so nobody wants to take their patients. Also, if you need admitting to a hospital you have to wait for one of the BFMC doctors to come out and examine you. Im still getting bills they they should have covered. I have to appeal just about everything to UnitedHealthcare with this outfit. Recently settled a wrongful death suit against the SNF UnitedHealthcare placed my father at. Would have liked to have gone after this outfit as well. But the attorneys go after low hanging fruit. By the way, all of the case managers only have first names.
