I came here for the Axon treatment this morning and after the first treatment I was able to feel a difference in my pain level. The staff here are so professional and courteous, and attentive to your needs. They care about you, not just the patient, but you the person and I was highly impressed. They took the time to carefully explain each procedure and what to expect. I have been to other pain management organizations, and what I experienced was how to mask the problem with opioid therapy, rather than finding the source of my pain and then a solution. Here at Capital pain Institute, they were about finding the solution and discussing various treatment options. Im happy to have found this place and will continue to come here.

Oh my goodness! If you’re looking for a pain clinic, look no further- seriously! This place is very nice- Shoutout to Dr. Church, what a kind, extremely smart, and understanding doctor. I have only had one appointment, and the staff has been so sweet and helpful.I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in April, and it has really knocked me down. I have joint pain that is indescribable, and can barely walk most days.I tried a different pain clinic before landing here with Dr. Church, and wish I would’ve started care with him in the first place! I saw Dr. Blauzvern in 2017 for a very, very painful sciatica issue in my left hip and leg. He imploded a cyst, that was the culprit, with an injection of dye. He kept me out of surgery, walking without a cane, and PAIN FREE!I saw Dr. Blauzvern again today after an MRI showed a new cyst that had established itself on my right side, resulting in another very, very painful sciatica issue. Being the professional that he is, Dr. Blauzvern fully explained to me (in laymen terms) that it was not safe for him to initiate the same procedure that he performed in 2017. He did however, prescribe some medicine specifically designed for nerve pain (it worked!) and gave me names of three different doctors he felt confident could fix my problem.Chronic, severe pain like sciatica is a debilitating, life altering condition. Capitol Pain Institute is the company to see for such an issue. You just know that you are in good hands when you see the doctor. You just know that they are sincere with their approach to help you. You just know that you have come to the right place.....Capitol Pain Institute.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Schocket and CPI for more than 11 years for care of spinal cord damage after an awful car accident. I cannot string enough compliments together that would convey the amazing care they have provided throughout the years. While most of the patients at CPI are struggling with movement and pain, I feel as if the physicians and care providers treat my pain as if I was their only patient and my pain was unique. Every visit I’m treated as if it were my first visit; very thorough ensuring that we cover every area of damage and how the medication is working.I recommend CPI for those who are seeking more than just pain relief. They work to get to the root of the pain and work harder to find permanent solutions rather than just give you a list of pills.

Their physician visit side is horrible and their surgery center side is good. I dont know why the 2 sides of this business is so different, but they are. I work in healthcare and noticed fraudulent/shady billing for their routine urine testing. Pay X upfront or gamble that your insurance may not pay and then youll pay a much, much higher price. This is horrible. They do these tests constantly (in house) and know what insurances pay. They also have the ability to check benefits instantly for other things....this is a scam. Also you will notice they say things like: we cant see you for 2 things on one visit because we cannot bill your insurance. They make you set up 2 appointments so they can bill more. When I discovered they were doing shady billing for urine samples - the bill went from $150 to around $15. They also lied to me about why my medicine were never called in one Friday. This left me in pain for 3 days (they dont answer the phone on weekends). On one visit, they absolutely refused to see me because I was 5 minutes past their 15 minute cut off - that day I had to get Covid screened outside and wait on somebody in front of me to officially check in. This took the extra 5 minutes but I was told they would not see me. If you try to call their office, their phone system is horrible and it takes forever to reach the right person or get a call back.I dont like to do bad reviews but in this case, I am because I complained to their owner by email and he ignored me. No shock. I noticed that it is ok to ask me or other patients to wait up to 45 minutes to see them but we cant be late past their 15 minute deadline or our appointment is cancelled. I have an issue with providers in healthcare that have no compassion. Dont be fooled - this institute does not care or their management needs some serious training on how to fix all of these issues. It is not hard to be caring. People in healthcare can be callous sometimes as they see sick and hurt people all day long, but they must constantly be reminded their profession is to care and do it well. I dont have complaints about my other providers as they do have compassion on the sick or hurt. This is a pain institute but the owner(s) are greedy and self serving and their strict and foolish policies dont allow their staff to have compassion or make exceptions when they should. I would find another pain institute if I were you. If you dont you will soon find out how right I am.

I will never return to this place again. First of all I went back to Dr. Shockett because I had used him about 10 years ago for cervical spine pain before I finally gave in and had a fusion. Things have changed 100°. First of all I went in with the pain rating of 8 to 10, most to be in sciatica All he wanted to do is schedule me for a procedure. He gave me 12 pain pills to get by.. During my procedure it took 10 sticks for my sedation. One nurse even got angry during the chaos of getting my IV started and practically accused me of being an IV drug abuser. She asked me why I would go through so much for just a short period of the feeling of IV pain drugs. I reported that right then and right there when the unit manager came to help start my IV. Anyway ,after the steroid injection I got approximately 10 days of relief. When I called back they assured me they would get me in as soon as they could for another procedure and said they would call me in a few more pain pills. I was told they didn’t have another procedure time for about a month. They never called the pain in and continue to call me to set up a procedure again.( I assumed they had a cancellation ) I work Night and missed the call.. And when you call back you can’t get through to the extensions they give you. Then came the hateful phone calls after I left a message about my medicine in which I was crying because I was In so much pain. They just didn’t get it that I could not get through except an extension to The procedure scheduling lady. I left two messages with her and she never got back. I started figuring out that doctor Shockett, who cared tremendously about my pain 10 years before and would prescribe me medication to keep me out of pain without a problem. I don’t know how somebody can call their self a pain management practice when they want to give you 12 Norco at a time and it’s all about the high dollar epidural procedures .... I have not been on pain medication since my cervical fusion. I felt very much like I was treated like a drug seeker even when I wanted conscious sedation. With all that being said I will never feel so degraded as to go back there and be treated like that. I feel it’s all about the big money they can get from you and your insurance for the very expensive procedures that take all of about five minutes !!!!Moral to the story is if you want somebody that truly cares about your pain, stay far far away from this place. !!!!!!!!!!After $750 for 10 days of relief

Review №82

Dr. Raimy Amasha of Capitol Pain Institute has very little regard for his patient’s lives outside of his office, or possibly, certain patients. It’s not clear to me. What does seem clear is the fact that he does make sure he has the means to collect his patients payments at all times. Don’t get me wrong, this is what any smart business man does, however I’m not convinced his 1st priority is to serve the needs of patients fully. Does he evaluate his patients as a whole? Patients go to see their doctors with hope that he or she will provide the means for a better quality of life. It’s not just about the ailment/diagnosis. And any biases a doctor has personally, should have no influence on their decisions to provide treatment. This is a rule of ethics. My husband had an appointment to see Dr. Amasha, but instead he sees his nurse, since Dr. Amasha was in surgery that day. My husband explains to the nurse his ongoing issue of radiating back pain & the severity of it. The previously intermittent pain he c/o is now constant & interfering with his ability to do his job daily. Also, his pain scale, which she never asked, is now ranging from 7-10 out of 10 with OTC meds & his urgency to urinate is frequent. He leaves the appointment w/ no prescribed meds & describes how dismissive the nurse was toward his complaints. Dr. Amasha later in the day calls in a prescription for an opioid, but now there’s another issue. Although the opioids will help with his pain, his job will not allow him to work while using this medication. It’s a state law in fact. This is actually no problem, because he can work through this issue & get the necessary help he needs by going out on short term leave insurance. The doctors approval is needed for this.So my husband contacts Dr. Amasha’s office again to explain this & talks to some nurse/assist who explains that basically Dr. Amasha doesn’t do that. In fact she says, Dr. Amasha says it’s not his job to put patients out of work. (Huh???) Dr. Amasha instead orders a Capacity exam, equivalent to a Worker’s Comp exam to determine if he can work. Mind you, my husband is not a new patient w/ Dr. Amasha & he’s had several tests & scans completed, as well as numerous office visits to confirm his condition.Reminder: Dr Amasha put him on Opioids because he knows the extent of his condition & his pain. He also determined that surgery is needed. So why does he need this exam? My husband reached out to an Advocate Nurse for help, explained his situation & she was confused as well.Understand the ripple effect that could occur:- Dr. Amasha does not provide an excuse for short term leave.- My husband will have to use PTO for the days he’s off.- When PTO runs out, he won’t get paid.- If he doesn’t get paid, how does he provide?- If he can’t go back to work soon enough, his job could disqualify him.- If he gets disqualified, he could possibly lose his job- If he loses his job, he loses his insurance.- If he loses his insurance, he can’t go to the doctor.- If he can’t go to the doctor, he can’t treatment or surgery. This is easy for any rational minded person to understand!Dr. Amasha is the leader of his office & sets the tone for his staff. This tendency to disregard patients & their issues is an ugly flaw. I understand they see all types of patients, on a daily basis; some who complaint a lot, some who complaint little, some even lie. I imagine that eventually they’ve been desensitized & subconsciously developed some sort of radar system to judge their patients. As I stated before, any biases one has personally, should have no influence on their decisions to provide treatment. Patients should not be made to feel like you don’t care or don’t trust them!If my husband was misjudged for some liar trying to get out work & abuse Opioids, then you’re clearly mistaken! You Dr. Amasha & your entire staff all need some additional training on integrity & operating from an ethical stance. This is just as important, if not more then, as treating your patient’s conditions.

My experience at Capital Pain Institute on Shoal Creek Pkwy. Dr. Desai at first was professional for the 1 time I saw her after that she started sending me other doctors I didn’t even know. I chose her for the doctor and I saw every doctor except her. They are very unprofessional I have never seen a clinic this way in my entire life. It’s all about the money to her she doesn’t care anything about the patient not at all. They change policies like everyday living. I had to dismiss this place I wouldn’t tell my worst enemy about this place. I wouldn’t recommend this place to no one. Further more they decided not to send me my medication 1 day before they changed policies so I didn’t get my medicine. They wanted me to come in again and pay another co-pay before I could get my medicine. I told them to keep it even though I am in severe pain I can’t deal with these people anymore. Now you won’t be able to change my pharmacy again. Terrible place don’t go here.

These folks wasted my time and $45 copay because their billing department neglected to tell the schedulers that the surgery center where they do procedures is out of network for my plan (UHC). Meaning I’d have to pay thousands out of pocket for the procedures. I liked Dr. Church, but believe the reviews that say their staff is unorganized. $45 is a lot of money to me right now, let alone thousands. Frustrating waste of time!

I have been going to Capital Pain for a few months after extensive back surgery. I was sure the pain may never go away but after working with Dr Amasha all of a sudden the pain let up and I was able to get off opioids!!!!! I and my doctor are very happy. Dr did one round of injections which took a while to work but they helped tremendously! So pleased to say I’m off opioids!!! Thank you Dr Amasha and staff!!

My experience for the first five years at pain management was fantastic Dr Amasha was and is the most compassionate loving caring smartest doctor I’ve ever had he is on top of things!!!! He hired a new nurse last year Natasha there is no reason for her to treat me the way she does!! She is rude spiteful and I could say a lot more but I won’t because I love and respect my relationship I have with Dr Amasha and the rest of the staff they are the best!!!

When making appointment the scheduler went to extra lengths to help me with my new insurance to know what my costs would be.I was able to get an appointment quickly. Check-in was easy & all COVID precautions were taken. LOVED that they had “The Office” on TV in waiting room!I was seen promptly - Dr. Desai was very thorough in her history taking & has a nice manner.

After many visits over the years to various neurologists, Dr. Schockett is the first doctor that has a plan for relief of chronic migraines. He is also able to help with lower back and hip pain. He is professional and direct. Malerie is his PA and is a delight to work with. I’m looking forward to some relief.
