To start of Dr. Fields didn’t even introduce himself when he came up to me in the waiting room. He just grabbed my head and tried to put in some eyes drops without explaining who he was or what he was doing. Then when I pulled my head back he became agitated with me as if I was getting on his nerves. Then during the eye exam, he said these exact words, “why can’t you people just schedule your appointments in the morning?” I scheduled my appointment by the times that were available. He did everything in a rush and didn’t really tell me anything because he said he was confused about my eye exam. My question is why did I waste my time and money going there if I was leaving with more questions than answers? How are you an eye doctor but can’t tell me about my eyes after an eye exam? Dr. Fields was very unprofessional and I will not be returning there and I recommend that if you’re looking for actual help, go somewhere else.

This was the worst service I’ve ever got the doctor was not only rude but clumsy and standoffish. You would think a person who runs a business would treat their customers with some human decency

Refused to give me a copy of my own medical records. Seems illegal to me. Kept saying my rx for eyeglasses was outdated so they couldnt give me my medical records. How is that legal? There are MY RECORDS. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE

Nice enough people, not a lot of wait time, but they always seemed a bit unorganized. Didnt ever give me my prescription so I could buy backup glasses or contacts from someone else. My last visit there, I knew my insurance covered a pair of glasses AND contacts, but they billed me for the contacts saying insurance only gave me an option of one or the other....I had to make them double check it and I was correct. Incorrect bill was dropped but it was just too much hassle, thank goodness I knew better.

My appointment was so fast and painless. It was great! Pulling up to the office, I was a little sketch about the location, but inside was cozy and professional. The staff seemed a little new, but the doctor was knowledgeable and confident.

I took my son this morning to have an eye exam done because he had one done at school and they detected a problem. I showed Dr. Fields the paper from the school and he said those were worthless (I dont doubt it) but as soon as he knew my son was in there for that he just exploded! He seemed very angry and made my 5 year old son so uncomfortable when he said he would put some eye drops in his eye that he wouldnt like because he was not doing the exam properly that my son started to cry. I then explained to Dr. Fields that my son was the sensitive type and threatening to put eye drops in his eyes scared him. He told me that my son will have a hard life because of his sensitivity! Seriously!?! He was so unprofessional and rude that he shouldnt even be allowed to see children for eye exams if that is how he acts! I will never come back to this office! By the way, the two women who were the receptionists was very friendly and very professional!

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! My 7 year old daughter went to him for 2 years and on a whim I took her somewhere else, THIS DR MISSED ALOT!!! She was found to have a very serious eye condition. He is very negligent in his practice and doesnt fulfill his duties as an Optometrist. I am never coming back and if you are looking for a new Optometrist, dont look here! I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!!PS: I agree with the below poster, the receptionists are the only professional ones in the office.

Went in because I was having light sensitivity issues, something Ive never had before in my 12 years of wearing contacts. The doctor believed it was because my prescription was out of date. Updated it and was still having issues a week later. I went back and he told me he thought that is just how you are wired. Two weeks later I went back home to Mobile and saw my regular eye doctor. Turns out I have keratitis (cornea inflammation) and that has been causing the light sensitivity. I wont be going back and I dont recommend them. Doctor was nice but too fast and clearly had no desire to do any other tests to figure out what was causing the problem.

There are much better places in Auburn! This office is not only stuck in the 80s with their decor but also with their practices. I should have gone with my gut reaction to go somewhere else when I walked up and saw the outside windows were covered with dry-rotted blinds and paper. Once inside after I completed the paperwork I inquired about the price for everything and requested paper copies of my prescriptions for both my contacts and glasses. I also asked if I could be fitted for glasses even though I was not going to be ordering them now. They refused. I explained that down the road I may need to order them online since I travel and would need those measurments as online stores obviously dont have offices. They still refused. Obviously they do not understand that times are changing and people rarely purchase contacts or glasses from their optometrists office. Their total lack of customer service was ridiculous. Needless to say I walked out and immediatley contacted another optometrist in the area that was more than helpful and assured me that they would not only provide all of those services but at half the price of East Alabama Eye Associates.
