I am updating my review since the entire camps atmosphere has done a 180 due to weekend party crowd leaving. Now it’s like THE most peaceful quiet place and exactly what we like when camping. As my other review said it’s all about your neighbors IMO! So if you seek quiet get here Sunday . We leave Tuesday. I’m so much happier now without non stop screaming. Although people drive really really fast through here almost as if on main road at least 35 mph. More speed signs could help but lots people only see their own stuff.
We are only an hour an a half and wanted too get away from for the weekend. I heard good things and called in a Tuesday... Only one site available on the entire lake! What a great place, 50 between sites, yes all around. Three lake was a short walk away. I will definitely come back and reserve one of the sites that sorry up above the lake... Stunning. The restrooms might be the nicest Ive ever seen, even those campgrounds at $100/night. Theres no pool or playground, this is a state park with a good mix of big rigs, trailers and tents. Definitely book in advance!
Crosswinds at Jordan Lake is an amazing campground! We were greeted by kind people with huge smiles at check in (bundles of wood can be bought here, $5 each). We had a very spacious site (c50). We are blessed to have a dually and a huge tent, 12 × 24, that fit great on our site, plus a canopy, with room to spare. The park was completely booked (labor day weekend), but we barely noticed. The campground is spread out pretty well, we were able to keep our distance with no problems. Most of the sites have trees surrounding them, adding shade (we had shade most of the day) and a little privacy. The bathhouse was large, well lit and clean (except when people didnt clean behind themselves). Great campground with great fishing, swimming areas and hiking!!
Thank you for making my teen sons first camping trip (that he can recall) so good!. We had private beach access by renting a lake front site and it was clean and quiet. I was able to use a charcoal hibachi on private beach for lunch everyday which kids loved! Also leave all our floats, paddleboards, cooler, chairs etc. set up all week on our beach spot vs. hauling back and forth. The sites are distanced just enough to still feel private. You can bring your dogs and tie out to the provided metal poles with hooks for hanging trash, lanterns or mess kits. Every site is shaded which was nice. The picnic tables can be moved to make your camp set up convenient. Also, pets arent allowed on the camp beach but welcomed on the private beach areas connected to the sites.Lastly, the bathrooms - we were in loop A and our camp host whom I met was very nice & social. She kept loop A bathrooms clean, mold free, well stocked with toilet paper and even the showers felt clean and safe. We really appreciated the dedication she put in by cleaning bathrooms multiple times during the day.
Fantastic campground. very clean and quiet. Sites are very large and peaceful.
Beautiful new campground at Lake Jordan. Spaces are well laid out and spaced far enough to give some privacy. Shower houses are modern and clean.
I absolutely love camping here especially during the week non weekend times. There are some nicely shaded tent spots and a bunch with barely any which in the summer months you want the shade.Cant wait to camp there in the fall cooler months!Great rest rooms and showers.
A nice family friendly campground.
What a pleasant surprise to find this beautiful, shady campground! The campsites are not too close to one another and the facilities are very clean. You can buy firewood from the entrance booth for $5 a bundle. Would definitely recommend this camping spot to anyone looking to escape for a few days.
Nice lots. Small beach area. wooded area. Fire pits. One toilet area was not maintained but bath house was nice.
One of the best we have stayed at cant wait to come back.
Great local spot to camp and enjoy the lake in a very low-key, low-cost way. Bathrooms were very clean. The swimming beach was a decent size and great depth for kids and adults. Good trails to walk as well.
Stayed here while visiting family in the area, great size sites, easy to get into and so quiet. Felt like we were way out in the woods
Stayed in C49 on July 1st right after they opened up from renovating. They added 50amp service to I believe all the spots here in C loop. Also renovated the bath house. It’s nice but I wish they had considered when putting in the shower stall doors they didn’t make them go INTO the stall. As it is very tight and when you walk in the shower is automatic on via motion! So a big surprise when you step in and get blasted. You have to grab the shower curtain to block the spray as you maneuver around the door trying not to get your clothes to change into wet or what you are wearing etc. then get into the cubby space and close the door. Very awkward! And should have had the doors open out into the hall space. So if you are helping a kid, go to the larger stall at the end. Also still be prepared for bugs and roaches to get in and be crawling in the bath house because again they leave these places too open with the cheap mesh and screens. And they get hot as hades in there despite it. Otherwise the bath house is surely a huge improvement and the water was soft and stayed warm after several folks showering back to back. Our spot was right near the bathrooms so made it easier to deal with no sewer for 2 weeks. Our spot was on a good bit of slope so not very level unless you get allll the way to the end as much as you can.Lots of places to kayak or swim in other locations, not so much at C loop that would be easy to access unless you have one of the few waterfront sites.
The sites have plenty of room if you research a good spot for a travel trailer. The bath house hot water was not working at the time we went. It was a great weekend. Everybody was great about not being loud at night. There was a group that had young kids piling up sticks in the road and thought it was funny. The staff and the parents did not correct the bad behavior or the actions that could have caused damage to my property.
JUST GREAT WISH THE RAIN WOULD STOP!!!! PEOPLE HERE ARE JUST GREAT TO ME.... ILL COME AGAIN
Great campground for tents or RVs. Clean sites, friendly staff, restrooms and showers in good repair and sanitary. Fantastic area for all your favorite water sports. There is a dedicated beach on loop B that is enclosed so boats do not venture in near swimmers. Gates are now open 24 hrs as is the newly renovated gas station a quarter of a mile from the park entrance. There is a boat ramp, and a marina close by where you can rent boats, paddle boards etc.
This place is a dump and there is nobody here to direct you. Stay away from this entire area. Your vehicle will be broken into and you will harassed by park rangers.
Well maintained campground. Best for groups and multi-family camping.
Generally a good campground but not ideal for new campers.
This is now our go to place for camping....LOVE IT!
Very nice facilities. Very private
Our Family loves Jordan Lake and have stayed at Crosswinds several times. It is a great Campground.
Beautiful camping area. A must visit if you like to camp.
Nice state park campground. Site was plenty large enough for my family of five. Short walk to clean bath houses from essentially any site. This campground also has a sandy beach for swimming. Views not tarnished by heavy boating or lake front homes. Tents do have to be within lumbar which is filled with gravel. Definitely need ground cover to protect your tent
Awesome place to campLarge areas and very private.
Crosswinds camping has areas A, B, and C. A has no electricity, B has the beach and C has some large camping sites, lots of duplexes, but no beach. Each campsite is quite private, the only drawback are the bathrooms which all need to be demolished and rebuilt. Considering how much you pay, and you do pay more for water sites, $25/$33. There are walking trails but theyre unkept so no one uses them. Having said that, its a beautiful location, the lake is clean ( Id hope so, since its a reservoir), and you get to spot eagles, deer and fish in the lake and the sunsets are beautiful.
Rainy weekend, still a great place to get away.
Loved it. So quiet and relaxing
Really good place to go and get of your phone
Absolutely loved our stay!!
So clean and so beautiful
Great fun spot to camp
Great place to visit Jordan Lake, good family expericence and good fishing from the bank. RV site had 50 amp hook-up but you do need to use the dump Station as your exiting there are no sewage hook ups at the individual sites.
I love how close we are to civilization. Only takes me 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh. Good clean and level spots. On the lake so there is plenty to do. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Spots are reasonably priced. Great spot to camp for a weekend or overnight.
Excellent campground, nice facilities, easy access. Saw the beach, looks great, but at 40 degrees outside, wont spend much time there. Site I am in has slight incline, but very manageable. Will come here again!!!
I haven’t had the pleasure of visiting yet but crosswinds campground treated some friends awesome and my friends were bragging about the campground, Thank you for treating the adventures with purpose crew with such awesome hospitality , folks like you is what makes their work possible
New bathhouse is nice. 50 amp now. Use to be able to park in between post to post. Only in marked of parking now, since new electric run. They will ask you to move. 1st time we drove and didnt have to level RV.
The campground at Crosswinds was beautiful but the staff is horrible. Most of them were quite young and were down right rude. Three days with no cleaning of the bath houses and no toilet paper! The only friendly and helpful person associated with the campground was our host who did help us get our electricity going. It’s a shame that such a beautiful lake and campground are overshadowed by the disrespectful young staffers.
All Jordan Lake camp grounds are pretty much the same. Good spots and bad spots. Showers and bathrooms. Dont be afraid of spiders, lots of daddy long legs. Some spots have electric and water some dont. Those that dont are cheaper but there are common pumps. First come first serve. $20 and up plus senior discounts. All have a fire pit with grate and a picnic table( bring a cover some in rough shape). Some lake view and beach. Some take reservations. Clock in is 4pm. Check out is 3 pm. I would drive through and scope out your preferred spot ahead if possible so you can come in and grab it, but always have a back up. They get so busy and only one open all year.
Great place.
Very nice and clean campground they were constantly picking up the trash. it was great. The bathrooms were fairly clean.
Always enjoy camping at Jordan Lake. The amenities are great. With most campsites off of US 64 its easy to find. Would recommend for any holiday occasion or just to get away for the weekend.
Some of the campsites along the lake are incredible. High up out of the water. Good dedicated boat ramp.
Great time! Beautiful campsites with lots of room in between. Each site is wooded, not clear cut like many campgrounds. Go for a site right on the lake. You can walk down to fish with needing a boat!
Thank you for what you did for Jared, Sam and Dan from Adventure with Purpose. You guys are amazing.
It was awesome, I took my dog, my tent and some good food, had a great time. Beautiful view of the lake. Bathroom was really clean.
We stayed here several times this year. Very nice campground. Clean facilities. Good ranger presence.
Well-spaced sites on loop C. Bathhouse has been redone and is now heated. Enjoyed staying in one of the duplex sites with a friend and their rv. Nice view of the lake and sunset. Will definitely come back!
Great place
We paid for a water and electric site over Thanksgiving. To our surprise, when we arrived the water was shut off due to a recent cold snap. No offer for partial refunds and no other campsites are available in the area. And...today it was 60 degrees. They said that once the water was turned off, they will not restore it until spring. It would have been nice if we had been alerted by email or phone (both of which we had to submit in order to reserve).
First of all there was a mix-up with the reservation couldnt get ahold of anybody without going through a wringer of BS..... then to top it off our site had fish guts all over the picnic table..... we welcome the buzzards but give me a break.. this is Gods country....pay pay pay to enjoy??? Go to Cracker Barrel😀😞😞😞😞
Park rangers failed to tell me that they were going to start turning off the water to all the campsites during my stay. They told me that they had a strict schedule to stick to and they wouldnt make any exceptions. Rangers said that they were doing this because the pipes in the ground were going to freeze, but it was the beginning of Dec and it wasnt even cold enough to freeze pipes.Didnt find out until we were setting up our RV. I wont be staying there again.
The sites are nice and big . No one is on top of you.
Good spaces, lake water is brown (as expected) and no alcohol?!? Good spots for sunbathing. No alcohol?!? Nice people there too. But, no alcohol!?!?
Had a great time camping here and will go again! It was very quiet (went at the beginning of November) and the kids had fun.
Great get away spot. Great camping spots. New electric service. 50/75 amp service.
I’ve camped a lot over the years & this is the best campground so far! Bathrooms are amazing & showers are on motion detection so no money or pushing a button is required to enjoy a nice warm shower! Trash cans close by all sites & some sites have private access to the lake. Buy wood right at greeting booth & gas/convenience store very close. Marina rents out kayaks & paddle boards! Everyone we came across was super friendly!!
We love Jordan Lake. Such excellent camping with access to a recreational lake. Always nice to be near the water and sometimes see the bald eagles. Very convenient to Apex ..so if you forg something...running into town is quick and easy
