I started at COVAL when I was 64 years old. Im now 66 -- and more fit than Ive been in 30 years. Its not that I wasnt previously working out -- I was -- regularly. But the workouts and coaching at COVAL are just more effective. I started with the Kickstart Program to see if I would like it -- and have never looked back. I used to work out three times per week. Now I go to COVAL two times per week -- and am getting much better results in much less time. Its just a better use of time -- and well worth the investment.

The gains I have achieved through the help of everyone at COVAL Fitness, in both strength and mobility, have given me renewed hope as I recover from a major injury. The limited time allowed at physical therapy left me very concerned that I would never be active again. I’m now experiencing less daily pain, and back to enjoying an active lifestyle again. This is due to the high level of expertise at COVAL and their continued encouragement. Money well spent on my health and life.

We LOVE COVAL Fitness!! We started over a year ago and could not be happier with the progress our son has made!! We initially started to help him gain weight and build muscle mass, but then realized COVAL went far beyond that! They also worked with him on proper techniques to increase his vertical, speed, and agility for Basketball and Football. COVAL has far exceeded our expectations! I discovered COVAL Fitness when dealing with all kinds of weird injuries that left me worried that I would never be able to compete in triathlons again. On a recommendation, I contacted Mike to help me out. He did a thorough assessment and found that my body was just out of balance (my words not his!). In working with Mike and the other trainers, I became injury FREE and was able to go back to doing all of the activities that I loved. Not only that. Mike creates a sense of community among the members and encourages giving back to the community at large through fund raisers and so on.I tell people all the time that COVAL changed my life. Mike and his trainers customize your workouts to meet your unique needs and change things up just enough to keep you moving forward. They work tirelessly to keep up with the newest research in fitness and nutrition. You will not get an out of the box workout and for that reason, this is a great value for your money.

Wow! I took the leap for the 21 day challenge and I am impressed. The team at Coval is so attentive, they make you feel extremely comfortable and work with you from a position of understanding and compassion. COVAL is an amazing gym! I first joined COVAL due to an injury while working out in my home gym. They not only assisted me with healing my injury but also taught me how to prevent future injuries. I have had several health issues over the last year and a half, and the trainers are always happy to adjust my workouts to meet me where I am and to keep me going. The amount of positive support provided by everyone in the gym is just amazing!

I have been going to COVAL Fitness for the past 8 months. I was looking for a place where I could develop strength to help make my physically intensive job less harmful to my body. In addition, I have bad tennis elbow that limits me during regular exercise. Coval was able to tailor a workout plan to help me meet my goals without upsetting my elbow (and has also made it stronger so that it doesnt hurt as often). Since Ive joined, Ive seen consistent results in my physical ability. The awesome trainers have shown me what Im capable of and make me excited about moving up to the next level. The gym itself is always clean and well organized. It never feels over-crowded, and the trainers and members are funny and engaging while still being serious about working out. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a gym that they look forward to going to every week.

You won’t be disappointed at Coval! We are happy to say that we have been members at the gym since Mike first began his fitness initiative. When we started, he provided a thorough initial assessment and established unique workout plans to meet our individual needs. Mike’s high expectations and “up close and personal” approach are reflected in his policy of no more than three clients at a time per trainer. We appreciate that our coaches provide frequent feedback to maximize our efforts. Being in an older age group, our exercise plans have improved our overall health and helped us increase our physical stamina. Thanks to Coval, we were both able to recover from necessary surgeries to regain strength and stay healthy enough to continue hiking and outdoor activities that we enjoy. We love meeting other people at the gym, and particularly appreciate the supportive and encouraging community that we encounter. I have been going to this gym for over a year now. It has helped me accomplish so many of my own goals and has helped me make new goals. I was a College tennis player and from my experience at the gym I moved to the top of the line-up. I became much stronger and confident but more importantly it helped my overall health. Nutrition was a big concern of mine and both trainers are so knowledgeable. I would recommend this gym to anyone of any fitness level and age.

Ive been going to Coval Fitness & Sports Performance for nearly 10 months. Mike does an excellent job on every front. I’d been to gyms and taken group exercise classes before, but this time I wanted a personalized plan to reach my goals. I started going to COVAL as part of an off ice workout with the Michigan Womens Ice Hockey team. I didnt really know what to expect, but I knew I wanted to get stronger. The COVAL team helped me do just that. The workouts taught me a lot, both in terms of new exercises and in terms of the physiology behind the workouts. One of my favorite things about the COVAL experience is the staff. The COVAL team was always willing to go the extra mile, and, even with a group of ~20 other girls, I was able to create genuine relationships with all of the staff. Their workouts broke down any level of intimidation one might face when starting a fitness journey, they made me stronger, and they made it fun. If youre at all considering COVAL, you should definitely do it. Working out at COVAL isnt just about getting sweaty and burning calories. Its about knowing your body and learning personalized ways to strengthen it. By the end of my time at COVAL, I was stronger, both on and off the ice, and I was smarter about my workouts. Even though Im not training at COVAL anymore, I still incorporate the things I learned into my workouts. I highly recommend COVAL to anyone and everyone. Theyre some of the nicest people Ive ever met, and Calvin makes the gym feel like home.

Coval Fitness is a very good gym/workout place and is worth every penny. My familys experience has been nothing short of fabulous and would recommend Mike Coval and Coval fitness in a heartbeat. The price/cost is more than worth it for what you get. The trainers are well qualified in what they do with the appropriate degrees. If you are planning on getting fit and are looking for a gym, need some motivation and solid results, without any hesitation I highly recommend Coval. You will find that it is well worth it and you will get more than what you paid for.I came to know Mike as I enrolled my daughters for youth strength sessions at Coval through their travel basketball team. Our kids enjoy their sessions and it helps in their game and confidence tremendously. The trainers are always cheerful and very nice to the kids.I was having nagging injuries (hamstring pull, back pull, etc) playing basketball 2 times a week. Also, I would be tired and sore after playing basketball which was not the case when I was younger. I talked to Mike (who himself is a basketball enthusiast) and he suggested that I try Covals kickstart program as a trial. Mike did an initial evaluation of my body, my needs and came up with a program. I went through the trial program and it is not an exaggeration to say that I saw an immediate difference in my ability to play basketball without the nagging pulls and without being sore after playing.One of the reasons that I initially did not join Coval along with my kids was the cost but I realized Covals value after the kickstart program. Coval Fitness is worth every penny. I enrolled immediately and have not looked back since. I have not had any injuries (touch wood) and I feel good overall and after playing basketball.Coval Fitness is clean and Mike and his trainers are top notch, thorough and detailed. I have worked with Michaela, Anmar, Thomas, Jess, Tommy, Mike and ALL of them are always smiling and very nice. They greet you, coach you, encourage you and motivate you very well. They pay attention to detail, your form and are always aware of where you are in your program and you general tendencies (what you like, what you do not like, etc). They provide alternatives if you are having trouble with a particular exercise. The place is always lively and buzzing with music, clients and conversation and is a fun place to be at. The equipment is cleaned and is constantly kept that way between usage of different clients. There is enough equipment where you are not at all waiting.Coval has a log of your progress over time and you get a new customized program every 3-4 weeks based on your progress,w hat is working for you, etc.. They have a very clean bathroom stocked with towels and toiletries that is very convenient for showering before heading to work.Coval offers supplements (protein shakes, vitamins, protein powders), at cost (without any markup) with the customers overall fitness in mind and not trying to profit in every which way like your typical gyms. Coval also has a class on Saturdays by one of the trainers which you can avail of for free in addition to your paid sessions.The scheduling is a breeze with a customized app and can be done over the phone. It is easy to use and the rules are fairly flexible. Jill is very nice and helps you in a prompt and proficient manner.I truly believe Mike/Coval is truly passionate about fitness of their clients, it almost seems like Mike is passionate about fitness of overall society ):):.

I worked with Coval Fitness multiple times before I decided to sign up. I struggled with the price as other gyms were less expensive. I tried multiple options but never ended up making a consistent healthy option. I signed up for Coval with the idea that I would use it short term to prepare for a trip. I have been going to trainers and pros for years as a competitive bicyclist, yoga instructor, and general fitness nut. Quite simply, Mike is the most gifted trainer I have ever met. He was able to assess exactly what motion I needed to work on to balance my body, created a tailored program unlike anything I have every experienced, and in about 60 days cured a lower back problem I have had most of my life. My overall sense of wellness has improved beyond what I thought could be achieved and my yoga poses and instruction have improved alongside. Hire him to help you, you wont be disappointed.

I moved to Ann Arbor 2.5 years ago for a job. I came straight out of college to start working. In college, I exercised religiously and felt great about the shape I was in. After I’d started my job, I kept up with my regiment for a month or so. Before too long, though, I had let me fitness goals slip out of view. For two years, I bounced from gym to gym, not finding a place that made me feel comfortable or motivated. I looked into—and this isn’t an exaggeration—every gym in and around Ann Arbor. Nothing did it for me.I started at Coval two months ago. Since then, I’ve gained back all of the strength I’d lost. Plus more. I’ve gone to the gym at least three times a week, which is really helping with stress relief. This is a gym for men and women who want to learn. Who want to understand their bodies and feel better about themselves. That you’ll be in the best shape of your life is an added bonus, albeit a really nice one.I can’t thank Mike, Billy, Rachael, and Calvin the Dog enough for getting me back into the gym.

I highly recommend Mike Coval and Coval Fitness and Sports Performance. I have been training at Coval Fitness for 1 1/2 years and have become stronger, healthier and more tone than I have been in the last 15 years. My posture has improved beyond what I was ever able to accomplish on my own. Working with Mike and Dan I have learned proper form and am able to avoid injury and maximize my workout. My workout is custom designed for me and my changing body. Mike writes a new program just for me every month. I am never bored and we can adapt an exercise immediately based on what’s going on with me right then. I have made some friends and there is never more than 2 other people training beside me at any given time. The quality attention has been key for me, along with the down to basics approach.

I have really enjoyed my Coval gym experience over the last six months. Ive done personal training at Vie, AFS, Sparrow Gym and have liked the experience at Coval the best! The attention to my personal goals and fitness issues in a small group setting has been really effective - less pain, greater strength and also increased skills which I use when working out away from the gym. The staff is terrific and so are the other members. The periodic challenges are also fun and effective to participate in as they incorporate all the aspects of your life to meet your goals, not just working out.

A friend of mine told me about a Food Gatherers work out at Coval Fitness. I decided to go and I instantly loved it, not just the workout, but the atmosphere as well. It felt like a big family. Once the Food Gatherers sessions were done, I decided to do the $ 89.00 trial run for 1 month. I got a taste of the semi-private sessions (up to 3 people) and the Weight Loss class (up to 6 people). Both classes were very beneficial, the semi-private sessions help you work on specific needs for your body, and the weight loss helps with cardio and strength training. I have just recently signed on the be a full member and I could not be happier.Mike Coval along with the other trainers are very helpful and professional. They are great motivators and they are constantly helping with your technique so that you are getting the most out of your workout. The gym is full of a variety of clients, from high school athletes to people who just want to get back in shape.I highly recommend Coval fitness.

Its a shame that Google only allows me to give up to a 3 for quality, because I would give Coval Fitness an infinity if I could. I have worked with numerous trainers over the years, but this is the first time I have ever worked with anyone truly knowledgeable and qualified in their profession, and truly dedicated to helping me reach my goals - not only through workouts that are designed specifically for me, but also in the safest way possible. Being at Coval Fitness was an amazing experience for me! The staff is great, and helpful in working towards meeting your goals. Honestly, I really loved the trainers and the workout space. It made me want to come work out everyday. There is no greater gift you can give yourself than a commitment to changing your body and getting healthy and you can get that kind of support and encouragement here. Think about it! I started working out with the fitness professionals at Coval 3.5 years ago. Ive always enjoyed lifting weights, but quickly found out my form was way off. Now I feel like I am lifting properly and feel stronger every day. Through the years Ive had injuries that would have caused me to just give up and stop working out. Oh no, that does not fly at Coval. The team adjusted my program to help me recover and still get in a great workout. I came to Coval Fitness after injuries and resulting frustration. I belonged to a great gym and worked out regularly, but was plagued by running injuries. A friend of mine recommended Mike, since she was also in an injury cycle. I decided to shake things up, since what I was doing wasnt working so well.Coval Fitness was the gym I was was looking for. I love the simplicity of the layout - its not crowded with a bunch of machines and cardio equipment. Yet it has everything you need to build strength, lose weight, and reach whatever your goals may be. Plus, it is a comfortable place to work out. As a woman, I was a little nervous initially that this would be a body builders gym yet I felt at home from day one. Mike and the other trainers are focused on giving you the attention and instruction you need to to be successful with your program.Mikes workouts are tailored to the individual, well-thought out and based on the goals that we set out at the beginning of the year. It really helps to stay focused when you get a new program every 4 weeks, too. I have also finally achieved my goal of unassisted pull-ups--something I have tried to do for years on my own without much success.Since joining Coval fitness last year I have completed 2 1/2 marathons and numerous adventure races-- all without injury. My legs and core are stronger and, as a result, my trail running has improved.

I loved my time with Mike and his group. The facilities are amazing and the trainers are extremely knowledgeable. I went there to get some feedback on what I was already doing and came away learning quite a bit and being extremely impressed with the experience. The amazing community that I felt a part of while there was an aspect of Coval Fitness that I didnt expect. I found Coval through a Groupon voucher and thought Id be there for the trial period only but quickly found it is a great fit for me. The atmosphere is friendly and incredibly supportive. Yes there are some truly fit and trim folks but there are lots of people like me who just want to get healthy and stronger. And everyone gets the same individualized close attention. You are paying for the professional training and support, not for fancy machines or juice bars. And you definitely get your moneys worth. Plus you usually get a very personal welcome from Calvin, Mikes dog! Couldnt be better.

I cant say enough about Coval Fitness! I had a sport injury back in December 2018 that resulted in surgery and I was looking to get back into shape when I joined Coval. I was frustrated with my lack of mobility and energy after surgery and talked with Mike about creating a plan to get me back active. He centered a workout that focused on the rehabilitation I was already receiving through physical therapy. I have regained my motivation, mobility, and strength in my injured area and am considering going back to playing sports! At 35 Im hesitant, but know that I wouldnt even be considering playing if it werent for Coval. If youre considering trying Coval Fitness, do yourself a favor and go for it! There are trials and challenges available to get you started. I believe I get more out of the gym than I pay. Knowing that I have 1-3 trainers at any given time to check my form is a relief. The last thing I want to do is regress and re-injure myself.

I joined Coval Fitness after reaching a self learning plateau with my workouts. Youtube and tips from friends was not cutting it. Biggest issues and worry was learning bad form without a good foundation.At first I was super concerned about pricing since I had just finished undergrad figuring out how the whole budgeting thing works. Trust me I was like what did I sign up for. However the 21 day kick start program gave me a great example of what to expect from Coval. You will be helped and there will always be someone there willing to help. Plus there is a diverse group of members and very little gym egos. Everyone is there to reach a goal, get better, etc.Think of this as an investment to your health and your future self. Also, Mike is pretty awesome and will try his best to meet your budget needs.I am a few months in into to my 12 months program at Coval. All of my concerns and issues were alleviated. Everything builds up and does not become monotonous. You will be challenged to become the best you. You will be taught proper form and how to be safe. You control how challenging the programs are based on how you feel. You will be given advice and motivation.The environment at the gym has really pushed me to be at my fittest form and helped make fitness one of my top hobbies.

Okay, where do I start?Ive always been into sports and fitness, but after high school, I struggled to find a gym routine that I could stick to, especially as I was starting college. Then a few years, at the behest of my sister (who was a Coval member), I decided to try it out for a summer.While adding on muscle was a major goal for me, I was also looking to alleviate lower back pain that I have been experiencing for over 10 years. During my first summer there, I was amazed at the attention to detail that was placed on the specific movements in each exercise, as it was taught in a way that wold prevent my back from flaring up. By the end of the summer, after seeing great improvements in my body, but especially my back, I was sold, and I have been a member ever since.Yes they have great facilities, but the best thing about Coval is the trainers. I have worked with several over the past three years and have never had a single bad workout experience! From creating an inviting atmosphere to the seriousness that they take their job, you wont be disappointed with any of them (special shout out to Michaela!).It is truly a gym for anybody with any goals. I discovered Coval because my daughter trains with them for basketball. Faced with significant weight gain and health issues, I had no choice but to make some changes but I was completely lost on how to do it. I met with the owner, Mike Coval, and he started me on a workout regimen. Once I accomplished some goals in that area, I participated in a challenge and changed the way I ate. Since joining and becoming consistent with my workouts and my healthy lifestyle, I have lost 36 pounds; I am continuing on my journey to more weight loss and creating a healthier me. The trainers are amazing; the programs are challenging and tailor-made for each individual, but the outcome is worth it. If you are not sure where to start but now you need to do something, Coval is the place to be. Some complain about the cost but from my perspective, the experience and outcomes are well worth it. Ive joined several other gyms that cost less but I didnt see a change; I still struggled with my weight and I was inconsistent because nothing or anyone motivated me. That hasnt happened with Coval!!!! Everyone at the gym is supportive and encourages you every step of the way, especially Mike Coval. I only have wonderful things to say about Coval Fitness. Before I came to Coval I was frequently injured, necessitating several rounds of physical therapy. I was also having to schedule weekly or biweekly massage sessions to stay on top of alignment issues to prevent further injury. I had to stop my yoga/pilates practice because it was only worsening my alignment issues and a prior tenure at another gym did little to help. I am happy to report that I havent been to physical therapy since I started at Coval approximately 9 months ago and no longer have the need for maintenance massage work. I love my workout at Coval. The workouts are personalized and based on where you are at and what you need. I cant say enough good things about the coaches at Coval. All of them are excellent. They do an amazing job putting together the workout plans and coaching us through them. They are incredibly positive, supportive and knowledgeable. Its definitely my new happy place to go to. If you are hesitant at all to check them all, just give it a shot. You have nothing to lose and potentially so much to gain. Financially this is a win for me. There is obviously a cost associated with the incredible support we receive at Coval, but for me its actually resulted in a cost savings. I started with COVAL to learn proper form and technique, being new to this style of working out. I had come from primarily a HIIT/Bootcamp and cardio background and wanted to try true weight lifting. COVAL gave me just that- their trainers are top notch and truly understand the science behind how/why your body moves as it does (or doesn’t) and how to get the most out of every exercise. Wonderful atmosphere. Great people. Their cost is a bit higher than some gyms, but in this case you get what you pay for. If it’s in your budget, you won’t be disappointed.

The staff are very knowledgeable about the exercises/movements in your program and are committed to helping you achieve your goals. I joined COVAL after numerous seasons of various workouts—BBG, Blogilates, running, OTF, yoga, pilates, spin, etc. None were bad, but I always found myself falling off the train after awhile. I realized that even in a class setting, it can be hard to get personalized guidance when there is only one instructor. I would do the moves that I knew confidently, but the ones that were difficult I would either skip over or not do them well, & that was just my loss (physically & financially).All of this made me a bit wary of joining yet another gym, but based on COVALs stellar reviews I had to give it a try. I submitted an interest form via the website on a Sunday & within 10 minutes had an email from Mike (the owner). Mildly impressed but thinking it was probably automated, I responded with some questions & received a definitely non-automated reply less than an hour later! Now I was surely impressed with the level of attentiveness, attention to detail, & communication that I had not experienced before.Going to a gym was intimidating for me bc I felt like anyone could tell I had no idea what I was doing in a room full of weights & contraptions. But Mike & his staff made me feel comfortable & welcome, & helped me so I wasnt doing it alone. Even trainers I hadnt trained with knew my name & said hi. I agreed to the trial period hoping to not like it too much initially because of the price, but quickly found myself looking forward to the next session each time bc I just felt better. I also appreciate the many time options for busy people with demanding schedules. Just wish there were more 5:30 am spots ;)Before COVAL, I was afraid of weightlifting because I didnt want to look bulky/scary, so I stuck to 5 lb weights. But all the coaches are knowledgeable & helped me understand that that isnt the case. With the help of my coaches Thomas, Anmar, & Mike, I have progressed more in a short time than I thought I could. I started about 6 weeks before a trip to Zion & was able to summit Angels Landing without much difficulty (which was big for me—I was expecting to only get to Scout Lookout)! My running pace has also improved just from the strength training alone, & Im hoping it continues to as I try to reach my sub-2 half goal sometime next year. I just feel stronger all around.Each person has a program personalized to circumstance, range of motion, goals, & needs. There are 2-3 people training with your coach in a session, & its a good balance of independence & attention. They are quick to ensure correct form to prevent injuries. The training program changes every 4 weeks so you dont feel like youre doing the same thing repeatedly, & even within a given training program, the reps/sets will change so there is still some variation. You also get an accountability coach who will check in with you about your goals in and out of the gym. The trainers are lighthearted & funny, which is great when the workout doesnt feel as light :)After a long day of work, it is hard to feel motivated to stay active. I used to go home & pass out on the couch for 2-3 hours. Despite being vegetarian & generally making healthy choices, I literally had no energy beyond making it through a work day every day. But after joining COVAL, I somehow have more energy & am generally happier, more productive, & less stressed. Mike is a very busy man, but is always responsive & takes time to patiently/kindly answer my questions. COVAL isnt just a gym... it is a family that will truly change your life! So I got my boss to join too :)One last thing—I feel like Jill doesnt get enough credit in these reviews, but she is behind the scenes making sure everything is running smoothly. Her response time is quick, & she is kind, helpful, efficient, thorough, & patient. I can always count on Jill to have my COVAL life together. Thank you Jill!Not sure what more you can ask for. Ive been going to Coval for almost a year with a goal of increasing strength and fighting age-related muscle degradation, and its been a terrific experience. The process starts with an initial assessment, which is free and easy. Its not a test workout, its an evaluation of mobility and any movement limitations you might have. After that youll have a discussion about your goals and options. In my experience there was absolutely no hard sell or pressure to sign up.The format is semi-private training. To be clear, you are not being led through any sort of small group workout. Your workout is always personalized. Youre just sharing a coach with two other three others. In practice this works well because the different cadences at which people work allows the coach set up equipment and critique form as effectively as a one-on-one session. Since the coaches have ongoing sessions running through the day, it allows you some flexibility in arrival/departure time -- if you are early or late for your scheduled appointment it doesnt pose a problem and you wont end up missing a portion of your workout.Another benefit is that you can work with any coach on staff which provides you with a broader variety of insights and input into your training. All the coaches are skilled professionals who are good communicators and dedicated to their craft. The programs are three sessions per week of varying routines and you repeat those three sessions for four weeks. Once you complete a program, you get a new three-per-week program for the next four weeks based on your progress. This is a good balance as you get time to get comfortable and progress in a workout, but you dont do it long enough to get bored.Good workout habits are encouraged. You are given a comprehensive warm up routine (~15 mins) that you complete before *every* workout. Working at a steady pace the typical workout will be ~45 minutes. Breathing and core engagement are emphasized. The common exercise variations are selected to provide the benefit in strength development but with reduced risk of injury (ex. front and hand-assisted hatfield squats over back squats, trap bar deadlift over barbell deadlift). In the year I have been there I have made improvements in strength and body comp while never feeling at risk for injury. Also, as a client you have full access to the facilities to workout on your own if you wish.I highly recommend you take a look at Coval if you are looking for a personalized fitness solution.

Ive been with Coval Fitness for almost a year now, and have nothing but praise for the team and my experience at the gym.  After my usual cardio workout routine wasnt producing the results I wanted anymore, I decided to do the 21-Day Kickstart program.My first few weeks, we covered the basics.  We talked A LOT about and worked to correct my form.  I thought I was ready for heavy lifting, but the coaches at Coval reminded me I needed to walk before I could run.  One of the things I appreciate most is the Coval staff are true educators.  They take a developmental approach when working with their clients.  Not only will they show you how to do the lift and correct your form for maximum results (and to prevent injuries!), theyll explain WHY youre doing this exercise, and how it will help achieve the goals you set for yourself.  Mike and his team take an individualized approach to working with their clients and writing workout programs.  They are truly dedicated to your success, however you define success.I look forward to my sessions at Coval, not only because Im achieve my goals, but also because theyre authentic, genuine people I like spending time with.  Mike and his team know about my personal life, ask me how things are with my family and at work.  As someone who values connection, I immediately felt a sense of belonging at Coval.  These are good people, and this is a good place.  That, coupled with the expertise and knowledge of the coaches creates an environment for clients to thrive in their fitness and wellness goals.A year later, Ive seen great results not only in how I look, but how I feel.  Coval works to take care of the whole person, and that includes wellness strategies for proper nutrition, rest, and reducing stress. COVAL is amazing! In a mere 3 weeks, it has completely changed the way I approach my workouts. I recommend it to anyone who is in search of a gym, whether youre just getting started or if youve been consistently working out for years.During my initial meeting with COVAL, I expressed that I was mostly interested in strengthening and toning my body. As a soccer player, I was hoping to primarily focus on my legs and core. Although I knew that I needed to implement some lifting and strength training, I also wanted to incorporate circuit training workouts (HIIT).After my initial assessment, Mike and his team created a program that catered to all of my goals listed above. They built a workout regimen in which I split my weekly workouts into both categories; on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays we focused on strength training/lifting, while on Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays the emphasis was on circuit training.The trainers that Ive worked with have all been extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. Theyre great coaches! Additionally, COVAL has an incredibly diverse combination of equipment, and it has been fun to explore each of the areas that make up the gym. Ive loved the turf section, as it allows for much more movement than most gyms that Ive had memberships with in the past. Ive left the gym each morning feeling accomplished (and exhausted). However, not once have I felt sore from the workouts, and I attribute this entirely to the individualized warm-up/stretching/foam rolling routine that they create for each client. This alone has helped to improve the level of my workouts tremendously.Ive always been an active person and have, for the most part, been consistent about working out. However, my time at COVAL has pushed me to the next level. In just three weeks, I dropped my BF percentage by 4%! It has been a rewarding experience so far, and I love being able to visually see my results.If youre on the fence about fully committing to a membership at COVAL, Id suggest trying the 21 Day Kick-Start Program. My journey isn’t just about physical fitness - it’s about emotional and mental health as well. About a year ago, I hit an emotional low. Despite my fear of being open about my insecurities, I finally accepted that I needed to seek help and I started seeing a therapist. Counseling was rough at first, but my depression started to improve. My story starts with therapy because that’s what made me see that making a change for the better can be scary and challenging, but it’s absolutely worth it!In April, after realizing I had surpassed 200lbs, I accepted that my physical health needed to be addressed as well so I signed up at COVAL. During the depths of my depression I lacked the energy to do anything. My sink was full of dishes, my apartment was a mess, and I would spend hours sleeping on my couch and comforting myself with junk food. But after only a few weeks of working out at COVAL consistently I felt a renewed vitality and purpose. I started doing more each day; I would buy groceries, clean dishes, workout, etc. Before I had any weight loss results to brag about I felt like my life was suddenly improving in every way. That energy is what drove me to work even harder!Shortly into my new COVAL workout routine I signed up for the Transformation Challenge and committed to Whole30. Far from the miserable failure I feared it would be, Whole30 proved to be exactly what I needed. It detoxed my body from the junk I’d eaten previously, and it also reframed how I think about food entirely. With every weigh-in, my smile grew bigger as I consistently lost body fat. Between April and December, I lost about 40lbs. I even lost 10 of those pounds while I was traveling for a month! Since then, I have lost another 10lbs for a total of 50. I still haven’t reached my goal, but this is the lowest weight I’ve seen in about 9 years. Ive been at Coval for 4-5 years. I love it. I am in my 60s and it makes me feel like Im in my 30s. The workouts are tailored for ME (and would be tailored for you, too). No matter your aches, pains, or limitations -- and believe me, Ive got some -- this place will make you stronger, fitter, and able to take on the world. Starting with Mike, the coaches are fantastic. Ive been to other gyms with other trainers -- Coval is on a different level -- in terms of the attention you get, the attn to every detail, the ability to get any and every question or concern addressed. Having worked for Mike Coval, I can tell you that he cares about his employees and clients A LOT. He is a very transparent figure and is always trying to improve himself and his practice so that the client and employee can benefit. It is rare to see me write a review outside of the restaurant business realm. This is a little overdue, but definitely needed.It’s been 6 months since I started my initial bootcamp trial. In the first 4 weeks you are there, you get a very small sampling menu (sorry couldn’t help myself) of what is to come. You focus on the basics, just small movements which at the time seem pointless, but they are the foundation for every exercise you will tackle here. I say tackle, because the only limit is how hard you are willing to work out and learn.Each month you get an entire new personally curated schedule that will have you sweating and gaining improvements not only in your weights, but your form. You will get your cardio, core, functional movements, upper and lower muscles groups all in a days workout! Of course, there are certain muscle groups that simply will take you more time to be at one with and make functional; but that’s what the coaches are there for. Mike obviously has an amazing talent for running a gym and his constant personal desire for improvements and growth, but he also has done a good job selecting a core group of coaches and letting them shine. Each coach I have worked with at Coeval (I’ve worked with them all) is delightful, genuine, and supportive. They create an environment that is truly awesome, and I appreciate each person for their strengths and the help and guidance they have given me.You are going to be challenged with the right support, knowledge, plan, and the best equipment possible. You will be working out with great clients, who I view as friends and will always have the supervision of coaches who will guide you accordingly. It’s frustrating at times, and there are times I was too tired to go in, but boy do I feel better and stronger. Yes, it is an investment financially but what you are paying, is put back into the gym and the training many times over. It’s been an investment mentally and physically for me and I thank the entire staff at Coval from Jill in the front to Mike in the back.Lastly, I will just like to add that regardless of your level of fitness, or knowledge you have, this is the only gym you should come to. Ive been with COVAL for seven months now and I couldnt be happier! Ive been an athlete my whole life, but was always focused on conditioning - Id never done strength training and didnt know where to start in a gym or with weights. The greatest thing about COVAL (other than Calvin the Gym Dog) is how approachable they make everything. The personal assessment assured me that they knew my challenges (double knee surgery) and tailored a program to both get me back into shape and improve my form to help prevent future injuries. Mike knows that clients are spending their hard earned money and precious time with his business, so he makes sure to deliver nothing but the best. Him and his team of trainers are rockstars and aside from their knowledge and personal attention they make sessions fun. The variety of clients in the gym, from athletes trying to improve performance, clients working out to improve health and lose weight, or those of us with broken joints trying to reclaim our athleticism and everyone else in between only reinforces how approachable the team makes going to the gym! I started training with Mike nearly 4 years ago, thinking that I would get him to teach me how to lift heavy weights and I would be on my way after a few months of learning the technique. When I started I thought it was too much money to continue to pay for coaching when I could do it myself. Over the years I have increased my expectations from simple proficiency and weight loss, to becoming a nationally competitive athlete, and I could NOT have done that all by myself. In the years that I have known him, Mike has attended numerous seminars and certifications, always continuing to educate himself and his staff, and it shows in the coaching and cues that I receive in my sessions.Where I feel CFSP really excels is programming and coaching for people with injuries or pain; the thorough assessment every client receives is the first step, followed by personalized programming and coaching tailored to any injuries or imbalances. This lays the foundation for further improvement and individual goals, whether it be to lose weight, improve athletic performance, or just have more energy and better quality of life. Coval Fitness has been a fantastic experience! I went for a year and would still be going if I didnt have to move. They had me ready for a tough mudder I wanted to run in just a matter of months. Their training was more efficient than anything I would have been able to set up myself and their coaching also helped me avoid many bad habits when it came to lifting free weights. Im sure I would have injured myself without their help. Their ability to notice the smallest changes in form that make all the difference is uncanny. To top it off all their trainers are always awesome. In the year that I went there (2-3 times a week), I never once caught any trainer in a bad mood, not once (not kidding.) Honestly Ive never known of any business whos employees are that consistently at their best. It made it much easier to be consistent going to the gym (a problem I had for a long time until I went here.) Id recommend anyone whos still not sure contact them. Theyre not a one size fits all gym and they tailor their programs to what youre looking for. I also loved that they mixed up their programs so it never gets boring. I highly recommend Coval Fitness.

I have been a member since the beginning of January. I joined reluctantly with a friend that talked me in to it and I can now say it was one of the best things Ive done in a long time. Ive belonged to several gyms through the years and worked out regularly but Ive never been taught properly how to do anything. Mike Coval (owner/trainer) has taught me proper form and technique in every exercise and an understanding of what it is doing to my body. Im amazed when I look back through my monthly charts at my improvement. When I first started I felt very clumsy and awkward but Mike Coval was there to correct me and to make me feel comfortable. I joined Coval 3 years ago when I found out I was expecting my 3rd baby. I needed to find a way to stay active during my pregnancy, and I also needed help getting back into shape after the baby was born. Overall I had always struggled with holding myself accountable for getting to the gym and working out. I also wasn’t sure what exercises I should be doing based on the personal goals I was trying to reach.Coval ended up being the perfect solution for me. I worked with a dedicated trainer that kept me active and fit during my whole pregnancy, with a program that was specifically developed around my limitations. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within a few months after my daughter was born. All of the trainers are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and I have never once felt intimidated going to the gym. They deal with people of all shapes and sizes who are each working to achieve personal goals and/or recover from injuries, and they work to create a changing program centered around your unique objectives. This gym has a welcoming and encouraging environment where you feel like you are part of a community, and the staff and people who work out alongside you end up feeling like family. There are always exciting extra incentives that are offered as well – free offsite classes at other facilities for members, charity workout sessions, and contests to keep the members challenged. You can also drop it at any time in between training sessions to do your own personal workout. Discovering Coval was honestly one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Mike and every single trainer at Coval is kind, understanding, extremely professional, and great to work with. The trainers quickly build a great relationship with you, and they understand what you as an individual are capable of, what exercises you enjoy doing, and what your body can take/not take. When I started at Coval I knew I needed to get back in shape but worried about my personal commitment and motivation. The Coval method really helps to keep you coming back on a consistent basis. The private sessions are personalized with a trainer and the programs are directed to help you achieve your goals. The trainers are great and the facility is awesome. The price is high compared to other gyms but you get 1-on-1 training and programming 12 times a month, as well as a desire and motivation to stick with it. I credit Coval with helping me lose 75 lbs and build lean muscle. I have never felt better and thank every member of the Coval team.

I came to Coval Fitness in February 2018 after having ACL and meniscus surgery the June before. For me, this was the latest in a long line of both acute and chronic sports related injuries. After months of slow progress at physical therapy, I had grown frustrated by their approaches to my rehab. I needed someone who could take a holistic approach to my rehab in order to progress my recovery, put an end to my growing injury history, and get me back to basketball and hiking.When I arrived at Coval for my initial assessment, I had been dealing with hip impingement issues on top of my knee rehab, and I wasn’t even able to get into a squat or hinge position. After assessing my movement patterns, strengths, and weaknesses, Mike provided me a few corrective exercises. The next day I was back in the gym working on deadlift and squat patterns with a trainer. This was the theme of my time at Coval. An ache or pain from my knee surgery or a previous injury would pop up during my training. Instead of stopping entirely, Mike and his team would work with me to find a solution whether it be a reset, different exercise, or a new coaching cue. Their depth of knowledge, experience, and attention to detail always impressed me and helped keep me moving towards my goals. As a result, I’ve been able to go on multiple hiking trips including summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro this summer and work my way back into basketball.If there is any question about whether Coval is worth the price, I think I can put that to rest by saying I lived in downtown Detroit and willingly drove every week, in traffic, to Ann Arbor to go to the gym. I started to going to Coval to get in shape for my wedding, and I still havent quit. As someone who started going with virtually no experience in the gym or around weights, the trainers at Coval made me feel comfortable with the equipment, taught me proper form, and continue to support me as I learn. I love going here because there are truly people of all ages and sizes and strength working out together, and I really feel like Im part of the family. I have enjoyed working with all of the trainers, my programs are always challenging but never overwhelming, and I now feel like I have a solid knowledge base and confidence. I feel great about my body, and I look forward to growing more with Coval!

It was January 2018, and I was just recovering from a surgery. My doctors told me that I should take it easy, so I decided that I wanted to find a personal trainer. I saw an ad for Coval Fitness on Facebook and I thought I’d do my own research. I realized that a friend of mine also workout at Coval and that was my confirmation that this is where I need to be. When I first spoke to Mike, I told him that I needed help with working my way back into shape and to get rid of nagging pain in my lower back and knee. He told me he would take care of me, and that he DID!!! After my first week, I was pain free. My knee and my back didn’t bother me anymore. My body was sore, but that’s expected when you’re putting in serious work. My lifting technique improved tremendously, I was getting stronger and my energy was through the roof.Being at Coval was amazing. I loved the fact that everyone was so kind and showed so much support. I absolutely loved working with all the trainers but Michaela made my workouts so much fun even when it was hard. She pushed me beyond my limit each session and she cared so much about my fitness journey. I also struggled with getting up on Saturdays to head to the gym. While I was at Coval I was challenged to get up 6am on Saturdays ( crazy right) but I did it. To date, I still get up early every Saturday to get my workout in.I definitely would recommend anyone to join Coval. World class trainers, friendly and clean environment, plus Calvin the gym dog is always there to give you support. If you ask me, Coval Fitness is the place to be!!!

5 knee surgeries, 3 over a 3 year span. My knees were done.. or so I thought. I walked into Coval with one leg significantly smaller than the other, one knee in constant pain and the other day to day due to the years of knee surgeries. I just wanted to get back to feeling normal again! The Coval fitness trainers tailored a program to fit my needs, worked closely with me and really seemed to care as much as I did about getting my legs back in functioning order. I am writing this review now and can honestly say my knees and legs have never felt better. I never thought I could get back to where I am today. Highly recommended.

I cant enough about what Mike and his crew are doing at Coval Fitness -- they are game changers!As a clinician that sees patients for common muscle and skeletal problems on a daily basis, I find it frustrating managing some cases due to the fact that their training programs are suboptimal and in some cases may be causing more harm than good. So, I have to spend a lot of time facilitating the unlearning process of behaviors and offering appropriate modifications. If a client is training at Coval Fitness I know the foundation I help begin to build with a client will only get better, stronger, and faster and in the right way -- I have absolutely no concerns with their ongoing health and fitness. This not only makes my job easier but changes lives of the clients we work with, which is the ultimate goal.I cant say enough, but if I could it would be that we need more extremely educated and principled coaches the like Coval Team!

Would be interested in trying it, except that I cannot get any information because the website and phone number are outdated and no longer in service. Will never go and explore this Fitness Center, simply because their advertising leads me to a dead end, every place I look.

I cant say enough great things about everyone at Coval. You start with an assessment to address any concerns, injuries and goals. Then, you get an individualized program every 4 weeks, which keeps the workouts challenging and interesting. Sign up for workout times online or on MindBody app, which is great for me and my crazy schedule. Since joining 4 months ago, Im feeling so much stronger and have lost 2% body fat! Im so happy to have found my training home and feel like Im part of the Coval Family!

My 14 yr old daughter signed up for the 21 day athletic performance trial to be more competitive for high school sports and LOVED IT! She has now signed up for the 6 month training package. We are members of the local athletic club, but my daughter felt lost when she went to work out there. At Coval Fitness she feels welcome and comfortable, which is not always easy for someone her age, but that is the great thing about the atmosphere and staff at Coval Fitness. The trainers have taught her various exercises to help her meet her athletic goals and more importantly the proper way to do the exercises so not injure herself and to get the most out of the time she puts in. She has already noticed a difference in her body and strength and is super pumped to continue on with Mike, Alex, Rachel, Calvin, and the rest of the crew. As a parent, I really appreciate the professionalism and warm atmosphere that Coval Fitness provides my young athlete...and anyone that loves their rescue dog as much as Mike does has my vote!

I really cannot begin to say how great this place is. I have been to many gyms throughout my life and Coval Fitness is by far the best. At Coval, I experienced personal training for the first time. It was amazing the little things that I was compensating for in some of the core lifts that I thought I figured out a long time ago. Coval fitness has my highest recommendation for everyone at every fitness level. If you were like me and think you have everything figured out when it comes to exercise, I challenge you to have the awesome trainers at Coval teach you a thing or two! For me, above everything else, its the Coval team and family that keeps me motivated. I was always the kid who couldnt keep up; couldnt run as fast, jump as high, or throw with any degree of accuracy or speed. It made me extremely self conscious because, we all know how kids are; I got teased a lot. And it made me hate doing any kind of exercise or physical activity that was going to get any degree of scrutiny from anyone. No doubt part of my problem was the slow growing brain tumor that was pressing against my balance nerve (that I knew nothing about for many years) but part, too, is just that I am not naturally athletic.After my brain tumor was discovered and removed, most conventional forms of solo exercise: treadmill, elliptical, stair climber, etc. were out for me due to the removal of the balance nerve and inner ear from my left side, which left me with both posture and mobility issues. I tried other things in fits and starts but mostly I convinced myself that any form of regular exercise was impossible due to my limitations and gave in far too often to the aches and pains that partially came from the mobility issues, which mostly affected my lower back. I more or less gave up until last summer when I decided that I couldnt keep making excuses to myself. I knew I needed to talk to a professional so I did some research and settled on Coval because of Mikes thoughtful and compassionate response to my initial inquiry and his assurance that he understood my limitations and could come up with a program for me. So I took the plunge although I was still really worried about not keeping up, not fitting in, and my general klutziness and lack of ability. But it took less than two weeks for me to realize that I wasnt going to get any of that at Coval. From the beginning I felt understood, supported, and accepted. My fellow clients are friendly; there are no cliques, nobody banding together in their superiority. And the coaches are amazing. No phony encouragement or praise, just a genuine interest in my well being and success. I dont feel pressured, just encouraged. And thats what keeps me motivated and makes me feel at home here. I sing the praises of Coval whenever I can and highly encourage anyone, no matter what their issue, to come in for an assessment.

COVAL was 100% the best fitness experience Ive had (and ever will have). I started working out consistently on my own in the summer of 2015 a few months before I moved to Ann Arbor to start a grad program. During my first semester I somehow managed to maintain my workout schedule but was looking for something to keep me motivated which led me to COVALs 21-day trial program.Looking at the prices (especially an out-of-state student at U-M) I really had no intention of continuing on after that period but was immediately drawn in and continued to find a way to keep working out with COVAL for my next year and a half in Ann Arbor. Im sad to be moving away because I know itll be tough to find a better gym environment.Workouts: Your first session is essentially a get-to-know you, your eating habits, workout schedule, fitness history, body, current/past injuries, goals, etc. From there Mike wrote out a plan tailored specifically to my own needs. Every 4 weeks brings a new plan. More importantly, he would constantly check in with me (whether or not I was doing sessions with him) to see whether I liked the plan and if any of my goals had changed. When I started getting back into playing basketball as a part of a rec league and noticed how out-of-shape I was, he immediately wrote up a new plan which included more cardio as well as lateral/vertical jumping movements.Staff: Usually when I go into a new environment with options for trainers/hairdressers/etc., I prefer to work withthe expert. Or I find one person I like and stick with them forever. Because of my sporadic student schedule, I constantly found myself working with a different trainer and was NEVER disappointed. Mike & Matt provide this amazing level of detail and care for your form when lifting. Brett & Anmar are great at continuing to push you towards new PRs. Michaela somehow made super early morning workouts enjoyable and easy to get through. Those are just the people I worked out with most often, but it is clear that Mike places emphasis on customer service & kindness through his hiring decisions. Even the interns who come in and out have been amazing in the same ways full-time staff have been.Facilities: Everyone has their personal preferences with regards to facilities so I wont go into detail, but what I will say comes back to customer care and attention to detail. There are changing rooms and a bathroom with a shower. But what I immediately noticed is that the bathroom is actually stocked with products that ALL genders can make use of. There are lotions, a hair dryer, feminine products, reusable towels, etc. For some this may not be a big deal, but Im sure there are plenty of small gym-facilities that have bathroom access, but with no consideration of womens existence.Other Members: Im not the most talkative person but there is definitely community here. There are regulars, people become familiar with one another and are all-around friendly.Attention to Detail: In case it hasnt shown through in my review of other areas, I wanted to give this its own section because this is where I feel COVAL & Mike excel. It seriously seems as though every step is taken with the customer in mind. In our initial visit, I mentioned that I attended the University of Florida for undergrad (Go Gators), and from then on -- though it took me about a year to notice -- all of my programs were written up and printed blue & orange. Just one other tiny example of the attention to detail provided here.Bonuses: Calvin the COVAL dog! If youre allergic and/or afraid of dogs, there are definitely times when hes not around, but for me Calvin was always an added bonus to my workouts.Overall, if youre considering a new place to work out, definitely give COVAL a try!

I have been very impressed with CFSP during the year that I have been a member. The initial assessment was really thorough, and the resulting workout plan was tailored nicely to my specific needs. I came to the gym having experienced several years of reoccurring injuries. Mike did a nice job of taking that into consideration and assigning me a routine that was challenging but within my limitations. As a result, I have become stronger, and more injury-free, during my time at CFSP. I have also enjoyed working with each of the CFSP coaches. Their in-depth knowledge of fitness, and enthusiasm, are much appreciated.

Ive never had a better workout experience than I have with Mike and his team at Coval Fitness & Sports Performance! Im a 41 year old woman who has been active all my life. But in recent years I have suffered from low back pain which caused me to quit playing softball, volleyball and even kept me out of the gym for fear of injury. Following 3 cycles of PT with only short term improvements, I finally sought out Mikes help in March 2013.I can honestly say that without Mike I wouldnt be where I am today. Im fully active again and stronger than ever! My back feels fantastic and my overall health has improved immensely (exercise is my stress relief). The personalized programs Mike puts together based on my physical abilities and limitations are challenging and fun and I always find myself looking forward to the next months program with eagerness.For those who are concerned about atmosphere, I will tell you Ive worked out at A LOT of gyms (including fancy gyms, Powerhouses and Crossfits) and I have NEVER been at a gym like this. The workouts are a perfect combination of strength training, conditioning, and high intensity full body movements, designed to improve YOUR overall individual health. Its never so crowded you cant get your workout in and the semi-private training sessions are an ideal size. Everyone, from the trainers to the clients, is friendly and supportive. There are no cardio machines, or any machines at all really! This gym is designed to make your body do all the work. Its like a hybrid of physical therapy, athletic endurance training, and free-weight training all wrapped up into one perfect package.I will never not be a client of Mikes. My appreciation for his careful attention to my overall well being knows no limits. His conscientious approach to fitness has improved my life and my body and I couldnt be more thankful, nor could I give a higher recommendation than I am now. I am confident that no matter what your goals are, CFSP will help you achieve them!

Coval fitness changed my life. I am a middle-aged woman, mostly reasonably active for most of my younger life, but by the time I turned 50, the years of good food and drink, rushing around with work and kids, lack of exercise, had really taken a toll. I felt old, stiff and tired much of the time. As a 50-th birthday present, I bought myself a personal trainer as one small step in trying try to feel better. I had no idea how to go about this, but hit the jackpot with Mike Coval!! After a careful assessment, he diagnosed and put me on track to fixing all sorts of physical ailments (sore hip, shoulder not working, achy feet, stiffness) I had assumed as the inevitable. He figured out what needed strengthening, stretching, conditioning to slowly but surely give me my life back. He also has taught me a ton about how my accumulated little habits caused these issues and what to strengthen to prevent it. I had no idea how much it would help! What I previously had thought were normal aches of old age, are a year later, mostly gone. My hip hurts less, my shoulder moves better, I have more energy, I sleep better, I have taken 20 pounds with out much restriction of intake.It does take time, patience, and work, as well as a willingness to give Mike feedback and whats working and whats not. But he really listens, and is very knowledgable, without ever seeming to overreach. For example, he has also referred me to PT and to massage therapy when he the issue was more appropriately addressed by other professionals. His employees are also well-trained and personable, and I have enjoyed working out and being guided by all of them. Many health professionals I have since worked with have confirmed many of Mikes insights into my issues. A year since starting with Coval, I havent felt better in at least a decade! Even outside the gym, I have had energy and inspiration to do some 5K road races and a triathlon, far exceeding my expectations for myself.Mike is young and energetic, positive and friendly without ever being intrusive or overbearing. As a businessman, he is always making sure he himself stays on top of the latest research, trying new ideas and bringing them back to his clients. For someone so young, I am very impressed by his professionalism and entrepreneurship.The gym itself is not in a great location, but it is adequate and has a terrific family-style atmosphere. Typically only 3 or so clients see one of the small number of trainers at a time. There is a great range of clients, too, from high school athletes, to younger working people to retired people of every gender, profession and race. At 50, I can be inspired by the powerlifters or by the retirees in far better shape the myself. And Calvin the gym dog also makes everyone feel loved and welcomed!

HIGHLY recommended (even for graduate students on a budget). I have been a part of the Coval family for about two years and I feel right at home. For background, I am a graduate student with pretty limited financial means. Fitness/health is super important to me, but so is eating, putting gas in my vehicle, paying rent, etc. One of the awesome things about Coval is that it doesnt break the bank. The programs are customizable without sacrificing quality. Thats a huge plus for me.I feel better and stronger at age 28 than I did at 22, and I owe alot of that to Mike and the Coval trainers. Ive been able to lose 20 pounds of stress weight (check out the Transformation Challenges)....you know, those pounds that just creep up on you when youre overwhelmed, busy and sitting at a desk all day long. Plus, I feel more athletic and confident. Im challenged by my workouts and thats a great feeling...to be pushed without feeling negative pressure.Lastly, I want to talk about the personal aspect of Coval. I dont know how Mike (the owner) does it, but he has managed to recruit only top-notch trainers that mesh well with the gym culture. Folks are personable, and everyone seems to genuinely care about you as a person. They are excited when you excel, and/or overcome a challenge. They are empathetic when youre having an off day. This gym is about holistic health. Mind & Body. When I first started with the gym, I was going through some personal challenges. My aunt was very ill and I was spending most nights in the hospital with her. Even though I had to cancel/reschedule with Mike on multiple occasions, he was always very warm and patient. Even before wed formally met, I had a good feeling about Mike and knew Id be valued as a client.I could go on and on...but you get the general idea. Coval is definitely worth a shot. You wont be disappointed. You might get your a#$ kicked from a physical standpoint, but its all a part of becoming a healthier, stronger you :)

I recently moved to Michigan and was looking for a trainer with very specific credentials (SFG, FMS) to help me achieve my goals. Beyond these certifications, I drive 80 miles one way to train with Mike on a bi-monthly basis because he is superb. I appreciate the consideration and expertise behind each individual program he develops, the timely response to emails, the comfortable and supportive training atmosphere and his work ethic. Mike has tailored my programs to be accomplished via distance by utilizing equipment I currently have in traditional and less conventional ways. Though I have only been at CFSP for a short time, my form has improved dramatically, my mobility has increased and my strength is to the point where I am setting PRs. I appreciate the attitude and encouragement of the entire CFSP team!
