Last year I unexpectedly disenrolled from the university during a family emergency. I turned in my keys at the end of December. They didn’t get back into the office until the 7th of January and unilaterally set that as the end of my contract, but charged me rent through the 15th. Notably, as I was no longer a student in January, I was no longer eligible to stay there. They can unilaterally extend your contract past the time you’re attending the university into a period when you aren’t even eligible to live there, and then charge you further rent past that end contract date. There’s no process to appeal.DO NOT RENT HERE unless you have so much privilege you can handle paying rent for a place you aren’t living in (and aren’t allowed to live in) while also dealing with an emergency situation. Stuff happens, and the University of Michigan is there to make money of off it, and then make more money in late fees. And then willing further to spend money on collection attempts.

Northwood 2 is a bad bad place. Almost zero sound reduction. You can literally hear your neighbors talking and walking most time of the day. Dont live here if you are sensitive to sound.

A cozy little place where you could work, print your documents ask any questions to the RA working there, enjoy events organized by the Northwood community or just sit by the fireplace and relax

A calm and quiet study space and a hangout place for Northwood I, II & III residents. I personally find it very cozy. A place to meet other residents from your community. A lot of community events are organized here which are fun. It also has TV, computers and couches, coffee tables available for residents. Its however a little difficult to locate from the road and one has to walk a lot to board the bus from here, unlike Northwood Community Center McIntyre for Northwood IV & V residents which has the bus stop right across the street.
