Maker Works is my go-to workshop for tools and expertise for a professionally finished product - regardless of your craft. I built a butcher block table top to a size I could no longer finish within my own workshop. Maker Works has professional grade equipment to handle the biggest jobs with experts there who are happy to guide you.

Norm!!! Remember the TV show Cheers? Where everybody knows your name? I got my training on a few tools and by the 2nd or 3rd visit, Id walk in the door and Josh & company were saying, Troy!. They were genuinely excited about my projects. They even got excited about mistakes I made, Cool! That is what learning is all about! The positivity is reviving. Their expertise and tools are top-notch. After 3 months, I just put my membership on auto-pay and havent looked back. With their help, Ive been able to make some custom airtwork frames, headphone holders, AirPod chargers with LED lighting. The CNC machines and the laser cutters and the Norms! do wonders for your confidence. They make you feel like you can make anything.

Maker Works and its impressive array of industrial and commercial class machinery is a unique and valuable asset to the Ann Arbor community. Most people would never have access to the class of equipment at Maker Works unless they were a professional in that particular trade. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The check-out classes for the various machines are thorough and educational. Pricing is more than fair and the other members are friendly and easygoing.Being October of 2020, Covid is still very much a public health concern. In my opinion, the measures in place at the facility to mitigate risks associated with Covid are sufficient without being excessive. If you need access to equipment, space, and knowledge to pursue your crafts, get over to Maker Works and get your crafting groove on!

A wonderful community space that combines the knowledge and expertise of experienced makers with the endless ideas I have half developed in my brain. I love being able to learn how to use tools I can never afford to create things with my own two hands. Theres nothing better than custom!!

I have been a member for several years and this place is one of the most magical on Earth (Sorry Disney). You can learn how to make almost anything, you can get help with projects, you can use a workshop full of tools that I would never be able to afford all of on my own, and they fix things when they break so fast you never even know something happened. Their emphasis on safety makes learning new things feel very comfortable and everyone is so darn friendly. I could not recommend them more if I tried, go get a tour and check them out for yourself!

Hadnt been doing woodworking since 8th grade. Suffice it to say, decades ago. Took multiple classes to familiarize myself with the modern equipment and got right into my projects. Great environment to learn. Tools great. Very friendly and helpful spot. Plan on staying involved with the workshop.

I have been a member at Maker Works in Ann Arbor for a couple of years. I can usually be found in the Woodworking shop where all the tools I need are readily available, once I completed my check-out on them. It is really nice to meet other woodworkers and see what projects theyre building. Anytime I need advice or assistance the helpful staff is always available. There was another shop closer to my home but for me, the extra distance was well worth the drive. If you are a Newbie or a seasoned professional, stop by and see for yourself why the choice is clear. Maker Works in Ann Arbor is staffed, ready, and a warm welcoming place for all kinds of crafts and hobbies. Come and explore for yourself.

They have been amazing. Great community. Doer attitude. Very encouraging and creative. I want to go hangout there all the time.

This place is amazing! When I cam in someone immediately dropped what they were doing to give me a full tour. Only later did I find out it was one of the owners. It was great to see how committed they were to someone just walking in with a few questions. This place has everything you need for wood working, metal working, welding, circuitry, industrial sewing, 3D printing, laser cutting, etc.You can rent office space if you want to be near your equipment as well.My favorite part is that they offer a class in pretty much every field of fabrication. You can actually take the classes before every signing up for a membership and they even encourage that so that you dont waste your membership time on learning the equipment.Truly a great environment with a tightly knit community. I will be taking a few classes this year and hopefully starting a membership in 2016 sometime.
