Mercy Hospice-Johnston was amazing with both my Aunt, several years ago, and now my Mother. My Mother was given the best of care and comfort and the staff was amazing. We could not have been blessed with a better place of comfort for my Mother to pass. Thank you so much Mercy Hospice-Johnston.

My mom last wish was to be at home and care for by her family. During our difficult time the staff was so supportive and caring. We definitely couldnt make my moms last wish happen without them. Thank you for the love and support you provided.

Incredibly decent staff and volunteers! The negative reviews seem like they went to a different hospice...it is very strange...those reviews also seem to be from very negative people, interestingly enough. The staff have treated us like extended family, made us feel very welcome in a very sad and difficult time. Nurses have been efficient, worked effectively as teams when needed, have been very personable and professional, and have taken very good care of our dying loved one.

My uncle was a patient for many, many months with excellent care. You treated him with dignity and compassion. You helped him live a lot longer than was possible without your care. Thank you.

Id give ZERO stars if I could!! My mother-in-law spent 39 days in this Hospice facility dying from a brain tumor. My father-in-law left with a girlfriend. Nurse Cathy Barks started an inappropriate relationship with my father-in-law while my dying mother-in-law laid incapacitated next to them. Within a week of funeral, Nurse Cathy inserted herself into the daily life of my father-in-law, attending church and doing all the things his wife of 40 years normally did. I spoke with the Hospice Director and begged her to get control of her nurse and to retrain the entire Hospice staff on professional boundaries and the impact to families when those boundaries are crossed. Director agreed but Nurse Cathy and father-in-law lied to everyone and continued dating behind our backs. This nurse and her refusal to comply with any and all codes of nursing professionalism and standards of behavior, not to mention Iowa nursing code has destroyed our family. We moved to another state to get away from the damage caused by Nurse Cathy. BUYER BEWARE!!! Dont let newly or soon to be widowed men around the nurses here unattended if you dont want to leave with one of them latched on. These vulnerable men are easy marks and these shameless nurses know it!!! SHAME ON YOU!!

Recently our family lost a beautiful person that I was able to call my sister-in-law. Others called her Mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend, but regardless she was destined to leave our lives far, far too early. Now, Ive never worked around any hospice situation but Mercy needs to know they have an angel on their staff by the name of Cassy Peed. This woman was amazing! From the first moment I met her I could see and hear her dedication to my gravely ill sister-in-law. She immediately took charge, went far beyond anyones expectations to ensure she was comfortable and out of pain. And, even though she took charge of the situation she never disregarded anyones feelings or questions. I just hope and pray that when my time comes that there will be an Angel like Cassy Peed to take care of me! Thank you, Cassy.

You deserve no stars. After how you treated my dad, and my brother and I. We had to provide our own supplies. I had to make all kinds of phone calls and makes all kinds of arrangments to get medicine. Chasing it all over town. Nurse dropping my dad and I had to call 911 to get people to get him up as she was standing there not having a clue on what to do. She should have known she couldnt move him. He was in such pain as his legs were twisted behind him and he couldnt move. THe only supplies that were provided by hospice were delivered 3 days after my dad died. I dont know what was in the box. everything else they brought was useless. my bro and me were left alone for days with no hospice person showing up at all. We had no idea what to do. He had a mattress that kept going flat. He got a new one after he died. He was very uncomfortable. They never told us what to expect. They said they would call me back but they never did. They were horrible, horrible. I wouldnt let them take care of my dog. Then they have the nerve to call me and because I dont want to talk to the social worker, she calls the police on me because I dont eat regular. My greatest fear is being taken out of my apt. The cops start talking like Im doing self harm because of my eating habits and call the ambulance to my house! You cant believe what I had to do to get them all to leave. Unless that social worker can bring my dad back to me, she should have got the message when I sent their sympathy card back with my note indicating I dont want their insincere sympathy. Thanks for the most difficult time you gave us at the most difficult time of my life. You were not there when we needed you. You were awful. I cant express that enough. Not one person was really helpful. When you did come to the house. you did very little and was out as quickly as possible. You stayed about 15 min IF you even showed up at all. No one helped us. In fact, you berated us for buying supplies because you supplied them, but you never did. You used our supplies. IDIOTS. I HATE YOU.
