Not that I want to get an root canal-- but if I need one, Dr. Portell is a clear choice for the procedure. He will give you a straight forward explanation of your problem and what he can do to help. He and his staff are very conscientious about your welfare and comfort. You will receive clear instructions for after care. And best of all, no pain! They were professional, caring, patient, and personally invested in providing me with the best care possible. After listening, to my history, I was assured that my dental needs would be met and that my experience would be different than the negative ones previously experienced at other dental offices. It was. Previous dental experiences were nothing short of torture.During my consultation, Dr. Portell and his assistant listened carefully to my concerns. Every step leading to my procedure was clearly explained. The day of my procedure went smoothly. I was made comfortable and they showed patience in prepping me and conducting the procedure. I never felt discomfort of any kind. I can not say enough about how well I was treated.The morning after my visit, I received a call from Dr. Portell, checking on my condition. This, I greatly appreciated because I know that he is extremely busy. His kind, gentle, soft-spoken manner, along with his vast dental/endodontics experience, was just what I needed due to the fear that I have always had for dentists.Also, I was very pleased to hear him compliment his assistant after my procedure. Humility and encouragement go a long way. He praised his assistant by saying that she was his right hand and that she made it possible to do what he does. I was recommended to Dr. Portell by my dentist when I needed a root canal done. This was in March 2020, so the world was shutting down due to COVID. Dr. Portell was still able to fit me in and provided me guidance as the pandemic was making follow-up appointments with him and my regular dentist more difficult to schedule. The root canal went well but several months later, I started experiencing pain in that tooth. I called Dr. Portell and he quickly fit me in to check the tooth out. After prescribing some antibiotics to no avail, he scheduled me in again to go in and clean up the root canal. To no fault of his, my root canal appeared to have become agitated and needed to be cleaned and refilled. He was fast to reschedule me with all of these appointments, talked me through the process the entire time, and assured me redoing the root canal would be of no cost to me. After cleaning and refilling my root canal, my tooth feels great again (knock on wood!). For the cards I was dealt with my root canal, Dr. Portell provided the best experience I could have asked for!

I am very pleased to say that for the last ten years my experience under Dr. Frank Portell’s care has been excellent.
