This is the worst optical business, I’ve encountered!! I would tell everyone to stay away because I’m a veteran and went there on Monday the 26th of April 2021. It was through my insurance the VA Hospital, and they didn’t have my authorization code but did schedule my appointment due to getting a text message stating my appointment was all set! Tru-West gave them the code or else they couldn’t schedule the appointment. The guy at the front desk is so lazy, he expected me to get the code for them. He just said, we can’t see you if you don’t have the authorization code and I told him that’s not my responsibility, also I drove 50 miles for this visit!! I reported them to the VA and they had the nerve to send me a text message saying I missed my appointment just ridiculous!!! They are terrible in any type of services... so sad they treat Veterans like this!!!

Have been a customer here for decades, because of the great staff. Back in the day Rita was the bomb, shes now happily retired but the new generation is following in her footsteps with great knowledge of the products and plans and how to best meet the needs of the customer. Cant tell you how many times weve been in and had our frames tweaked and fixed all for free and with a smile on the face. I just cant say enough about the staff here.Dr. Kniffen is also a great optometrist. She is very up on the science and testing to keep our eyes healthy.

Office managers shocking behaviorUpdate: one week later. This is what was exactly said in our exchange of texts. I wish I could include a screenshot so you can see I’m telling the truth.ME: “Hello Dr Niffen, The frames on my glasses were significantly changed so they’re giving me headaches. Half the time I can’t even wear them. Can we meet next week to get this taken care of?First, I tried contacting the office manager, but I wasn’t understood. This has made the situation uncomfortable for me. Would any of these times work for you... etc”LISA’S REPLY:“Hello, I’m sorry you continue to have difficulty with our services. We have tried to resolve this with a prescription check and frame adjtment. We will refund the $37.67 you spent with us and mail it today advise advise you visit another I practice. Are contacting your insuranceProvider in requesting they reinstateOur benefit to be used elsewherethank you”.🟣 Her statement is self incriminating (for lack of a better word). Saying a recheck was done is actually an example of a mistake. Then, she states there was a frame adjustment; which is exactly what I’m complaining about. I did NOT want one nor signed the waiver Lisa told me should have been required of me. This is an example of her poor critical thinking and listening skills. she doesn’t even know what’s going on.💙 We all hope our doctors and their staff actually care about us instead of seeing things only a business transaction. But when it comes to speaking up when we can tell they dont care we feel embarrassed and often dont say anything. Well, my glasses hurt so much it wasnt an option in this situation.💙Casey Optical made a few mistakes which I moved past except the last one. Charles bent my frames so out of shape I havent been able to reshape them so theyre giving me headaches. I cant even wear them half the time.So I called and spoke with Lisa. Instead of taking responsibility for the mistakes she literally made excuses. Lisa did offer me to go in and have my frames adjusted. This was nice and appropriate. However, I felt so intimidated I didn’t feel comfortable. Also, I simply wanted the opportunity to inform Dr. Kniffen of what was going on. I couldn’t believe it.About 2 weeks later (glasses still hurting) I used their after hours texting option to leave a message specifically for Dr Kniffen and requested we meet. The following morning, I received a reply but it didn’t include who it was from. All previous texts indicated who wrote them. In short, whoever wrote the text fired me as a patient. They didn’t say why; they focused on how they tried to fix the situation, excluding their mistakes. They presented the info as they had to go out of their way to make me happy, when really it was them simply do their job to correct things. So I went into the office and asked to speak with Dr Niffen. They said she was busy and that they’d pass on my message. That was a week ago I havent heard from her. Because Dr Niffen was caring and professional I think she never got the message, otherwise I dont know why she would ignore a patient.Lisa was so UN- “professional she was cold as ice. She was so uncaring she rushed me off the phone saying, “is there anything else I can help you with” when the issues at hand werent being resolved... what kind of logic is that! She said what else do you want. Also, I had to ask her three times if its standard to adjust frames without asking. Finally she said a waiver shouldve been signed. My experience speaking with Lisa showed her lack of critical thinking and listening skills.🌟Lisa, this is my message to you: you can’t fire someone because it makes your job easier . you need to be aware of how your business decisions affect peoples lives. Your judgment is off- I find it appalling and disgusting. When I asked foe help said you fired me because I complained. This is retaliation which is unethical. Plus, suggesting I seek another doctor in the middle of corona is inconsiderate. I suggest you at least “treat” patients like you care.

I called and made an appointment to have my contact prescription updated. I showed up for the appointment and got called in. We began the process of checking my eyes, and then realized they were also trying to get info about my glasses. I clarified that I was only there to have my contacts updated. They told me that they wouldnt update my contacts unless I updated my glasses too (an additional cost of 110$). This was never mentioned to me when I made the appointment. I again reiterated that I was only there to get my contacts and didnt need my glasses updated, but they refused to help me further unless I pay for glasses too. I ended up walking out because I couldnt afford the cost and I didnt need my glasses updated.Im upset because I felt that this was something hidden from me. Ive needed contact and glasses my whole life and have never been forced to pay for both (since insurance typically only covers one or the other, I alternate getting them updated every other year). Nothing was ever mentioned about their unique policy and felt that they attempted to sneak extra costs onto my bill by not being upfront about this.

As a patient of Casey Optical for over 5 years, I think I can say that the quality of service has really taken a dive. Dr. Kniffen herself is a good doctor. Her staff on the other hand appear disorganized and lack communication skills. The low rating comments are about the same: I ordered glasses and they took way longer to come in than what I was told. It is understandable that orders get behind. The simple way to make that right is to contact the patient and Be Honest, saying the will come in tomorrow three days in a row is extremely unprofessional. Having to call and inquire about something you spent money on is annoying.Spending $200+ on glasses that take almost a month to come in is almost a joke when you can go through and online source for 1/4 of the price, in possibly the same amount of time and so much less frustration. If you are considering becoming a new patient. Do not get glasses or contacts through their office. Get a copy of your prescription and take care of it yourself.

I really really like Dr. Kniffen, as an eye doctor and as a human being, but...some of the office staff, not so much. There was a problem withthe most recent pair of glasses that I bought from them...that was notresolvable. Manny, the guy who sells eyeglasses, was really irritated with me, and rude, and snotty about it all. He was so difficult with me that another customer heard it all and came over to my defense! I had to see Dr. Kniffen again to get herapproval for a refund, which they dont like to do for eyeglasses. When I went upfront after seeing her to get my refund, the assistant manager (Cynthia) was not happy that she had to refund me. When she finished that, I toldthat I still needed to get a pair of glasses and that I would probably beback to try again...she said DONT, as in...go somewhere else, so, I guess I will. I feel sad about this, because Dr. Kniffen is a gem, andbecause she has these people who represent her in her office. She used to have great front office people, and the environment was nice there, but there has been a turnover because her 2 main people retired and she replaced them. Thats when it got bad.

I went to Casey Optical to get new glasses based on Google reviews. My usual doctor only sells contacts and I needed glasses. I was taken care of by Rita. She did a great job helping me to pick a new frame for my glasses. She seemed very knowledgeable about the kind of frame that would look good on me, and the kind of lenses I should get. Once the glasses arrived, they made sure everything fit properly before letting me go. I am very happy with my new glasses and would recommend this place.

Firstly, an employee did not collect our current contact information when scheduling our appointments. In general, we arrived for our appointments only to leave after 8 minutes, for Rebecca was told she missed her appointment and there was nothing the company can do to see her. Reason being, the employee prior did not collect the correct information which entails what? Lack of knowing! They scheduled her for 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. as of 02/14/2020, originally. In doing so, upon arrival, an employee stated they couldn’t get ahold of her, for the company rescheduled her appointment for 9:30 a.m. which is why they couldn’t see her because she missed her appointment by thirty minutes due to their lack of communication and their lack of employees who can’t perform their job correctly which wasted our time. I would never recommend this business to anyone! If you want unprofessional treatment, come here! Also, they couldn’t find our insurance so we gave our insurance cards only to be told I had to pay for the exam. Again, communication is not up-to-par upon the company. It would of been courteous to know such information before arriving to our appointments.

It took some time for me to get called but after my visit I understood why and that is because Dr. Christine takes the time with you to help you and listen to your concerns and I believe she is the only doctor in there. Yes, everyone is nice at Casey. The problem for me was that the Dr could not get my prescription right and overall it took 9 months for me to get my contacts. It went like this: I have worn glasses or contacts for 47 years. This doc claimed I have astigmatism and wanted me to try out expensive torque lenses. Funny, no doctor in 47 years ever diagnosed me with astigmatism & now all of a sudden... Anyway, after months and months of these people forgetting to order the torque lenses and giving me several excuses, I finally get them and I cant see a thing. I eventually go back to some old lenses I had laying around, and when I ran out of those I had to wear glasses again. Final point is that I still cannot see and I have had to wait a year for my insurance to pay for an exam somewhere else. The doc invented my astigmatism (incompetent) and then held my prescription hostage so I could not order elsewhere, yet her clerks and assistants incompetence held me up for nearly a year, and then I could not see anyway and had to wear my ugly thick glasses again. I just want to see! I would much rather be able to see than waste my time complaining about this place online.

As much as I would like to give positive feedback on my experience here I simply cannot. Upon my first visit it took almost 2 hours to complete a simple eye exam. Every interaction I had with Casey Optical there simply was not a welcome feeling within the building or by many of their staff members. The service from most employees seemed like the customer standing in front of them was nothing but a burden. The proverbial icing on the cake that led to a 1 star review came in the form of miscommunication through the entire office. I had misinformation from multiple staff members who could not seem to keep the facts straight on what really was happening with my prescription and a follow up appointment. I do hope that whatever kinks or interoffice politics are taking place do clear up, as they are affecting the day to day operations of the practice and we the customer are the ones that have to pay. Sadly, I will not be returning, and do advise perspective clients to proceed with caution.

Out of all these reviews I am the only negative. I feel like I am missing something... My husband and I both tried out Dr. Kniffen and had horrible experiences. My husband had an appointment at 3 and we didnt get seen until 3:45. To make up for the lateness, Dr. Kniffen gave us a discount which I was pleased about. She really did attend to him well so I thought I would give her a try. I was called back 15 minutes late and it took her another 10 minutes to see me. She didnt ask about any problems that I was having or how my current prescription was doing. After giving me my prescription (and waiting an additional 15 minutes) I told her I couldnt see anything out of my left eye. Come to find out, I needed something stronger. Now, I am still seeing blurry. Called back for another appointment to correct the problem only to find out someone should have scheduled me a follow-up and never did and now I cannot be seen until next week; even though I cannot see and will have to resort to wearing my glasses until my old optometrist can see me. (She is fitting me in as soon as possible, might I add.) Super frustrated and will not be going back. My other optometrist does not accept my insurance but she is well worth it compared to this place.

Had an eye issue on saturday and was taken care of by Dr. Hands. Paid my copay, no problem! Had a follow-up with Dr. Hands on Monday to see how I did over the weekend. No copay, was told it was a follow up! Wow!Had another follow up for Wednesday at Dr. Kniffens office to remove the contact lens band-aid. Was charged another copay and was told by her staff that any visit with Dr. Kniffen has a copay. Dr. kniffen, if you so desperately need every cent for follow up visits, then the $40. is yours to keep with the understanding that the Wednesday visit will be the last time I set foot in your office. Had I know that compassion ends at Dr. Hands office, I would have made the trip across town to see her instead!Continue this saga! About a month after my first review, I received a check for my co-pays. I called the office and told them that it was only fair that I pay one of the two co-pays. The office person said they were told to refund the full amount. Yesterday, August 20th, I received a bill for $54.00 for work done on March 25th! I guess Kniffen had a change of heart and wants her money after all! Your check will soon be in the mail as I am to old and tired of your games to continue with your somewhat shady collection practices. Please remove me from your call and mail list as your precious service is no longer needed. The story continues......I asked to have my name removed from your mailing list and I still get your JUNK. So as long as you choose to bother, then I choose to continue this sad story. Initial visit with Dr. Hands was on March 23, 2019. Follow-up with Dr. Hands was on March 25, 2019. Follow-up with Dr, Kniffen was on March 27, 2019. Copay of $43.15 paid for initial visit with Dr. Hands and follow-up with Dr. Kniffen. Dr. Kniffens staff said, anyone seeing Dr. Kniffen pays a copay. Side note: you are the ONLY practice that charges tax on copays. All my other doctors charge the copay listed on my insurance policy without tax.Mid may, I get a refund check for $86.30. I call to tell them that I owe them the first copay but the person says she was told to refund the whole amount so I dont owe anything.Fast forward to August 2019, five months after service was rendered and I receive a bill from Casey Optical for $54.00. They claim this is what my insurance didnt pay! I guess I should contact my insurance and scold them for going five months to pay their claims!!! I dont think so! Dr. Kniffen got her money on that day as I called and did it over the phone! Now, I get more junk mail from Casey so I take a look at their website only to discover that on their website, you only see 5 star reviews! Hmmm, wasnt there a story on the news just last week about businesses doing fake reviews??? Could this be an example of this???Please remove me from your email list as well as your regular mailing list so this sad story can come to an end and no old wounds will be reopened.

I had the frames on a pair of glasses replaced earlier in the year under warranty for a defect. It took weeks for them to come in. I brought the glasses in again because I could see a crack developing in the same spot that had broken on the first pair. The tech asked to see my glasses, I told him to be careful not to break them the rest of the way because I’d already experienced what a pain they were to wear when they were broken. He was not listening to me, took them in the back, when he came back, he told me he had adjusted them and nothing was wrong. I pointed out to him where he had just broken the plastic piece I was trying to point out to him. He took them in the back, glued the piece back on, so that the arm wouldn’t close and I couldn’t put them in my protective case. He said it would take four business days for new frames to come in. After 7 business days I called and was notified that they had not been ordered. I left a message for the manager to call me, but only got a call back from a person who told me that they were on order but could not give me a date when they would be delivered. They called the next day and notified me that they were in. After two bad experiences, I won’t be coming back to Casey Optical next time I need new glasses.

It turns out it was imagined, but she answered and explained all my questions and concerns. Dr. Kniffen and her staff was as good as I couldve imagined. I think I appreciated her bedside manner the most. I had brought my 5 year old daughter with me to see if she had lazy eye (its passed genetically sometimes, I believe) and even though she probably doesnt see young children that often she did as well as I hoped (and I have high expectations) and did a very thorough exam and was patient with my daughter.

I went to Casey Optical on the recommendation of my mom, a retired optician, herself. Being that my mom was in the optical industry for a long time, she is very, very picky about her glasses and optician-provided care. Shes never recommended anywhere -- but she recommended Casey to me after my previous ophthalmologist misdiagnosed a serious medical condition which could have led to blindness!Beyond that, the glasses were very overpriced there, as I learned after going to Casey. For example, the previous optical shop wanted $750 for some La Font frames that were only $350 at Casey (and if you know what size you need, you can get them online for $179...)!!The ophthalmologist, Dr. Kniffen, was very knowledgeable, thorough and attentive to my special optical needs. She recommended certain lens technologies that would compensate for my lost vision and hopefully improve it going forward. So far, it has helped a TON. My vision now vs. what is was with the previous glasses is so much better. There really are no words to describe it when vision you thought was lost is given back to you with a simple lens technology. The optician staff was also very helpful in recommending styles that worked (and steering me away from styles that did not work) with my face. The staff at the previous shop never did anything other than take my prescription and upsell, upsell, upsell. Last time they even sold me a pair of glasses that did not fit my face and fell off constantly (the 750 frame). Granted, I wanted these glasses because I thought they were pretty, but I wish they would have been honest about the fact that they would never be able to make them fit me! Or offered to order them in my size. All they wanted to do was sell me what they had on-hand for a quick buck.In the end I spent the same amount of money for my glasses, however now I actually have quality of VISION back vs. overpriced frames. If you want a professional doctor who cares about patients and competent opticians, visit Casey. You wont regret it!

Great place with good customer service. I had a problem with some sport glasses that I ordered and then went above and beyond to fix the problem for me.
