I have been to this salon on a few occasions in the past and the owner has done a good job. That was several years ago and today the company DOES NOT ACCEPT AFRICAN AMERICAN CUSTOMERS. My hair is permed and they refused to book an appointment for a hair cut or anything else.These people are very racial and this is a big disappointment for me.

I am new to the area and this was my first time going to this salon. It was also my first time ever dyeing my hair, so it was a nerve wracking thing for me to do. I have blonde hair naturally, but for a couple years now I’ve wanted to change to a natural redhead/strawberry blonde. I figured if I didn’t like it, the red color would be light enough and would fade back fairly easily. I showed the stylist many pictures of the color that I wanted and after he had dyed my hair, I thought I had gotten close to what I wanted. However, after I left the salon lighting (and especially a few days after) my hair looked very, VERY dark brown with no resemblance of red anywhere. I called about a week after I had it done to see if there was anything the stylist could do to fix it, but he said he could do nothing to strip the color without damaging my hair and the best that could be done would be highlights and that I should just wait for it to fade over a couple weeks. Now over a month later, my once-blonde hair is still stained dark brown even after washing many times with a clarifying shampoo and I never once saw the red that I wanted. I was/am devastated because 1. I would have never, ever wanted to dye my hair dark brown and I’m left with a color that I hate and 2. I feel like I wasted over $100 of my money. The only good things out of that appointment for me were that the staff was nice and the trim I got out of it looked good.

I got the worst haircut I ever had in my life. I’m using a ponytail to hide it. Is really bad. I feel so disappointed.

I am newish to Albany and so happy to have found Mack Salon but especially to have found Melissa (Lissie). She does such an incredible job and really knows her stuff. Melissa is professional and always gives great advice on what is needed in terms of cut, color and highlights. In the past Ive often returned from other salons and complained about something that wasnt quite right but each and every time Ive left Melissas chair I couldnt be happier.
